Nexus 10 upgrade ? - Nexus 10 General

Is Google and Samsung "cooking" a new version of Nexus 10 ? And if the rumors are true, the new tablet will be equipped with Exynos 5 quad-core and 8 core GPU Mali T-678 ? And if the rumors are true when will be available to buy ? I don't wanna to hurry and buy now the Nexus 10 with dual-core Exynos.....But deserve to wait for Nexus with quad core Exynos ?
PS:sorry for my poor English

This might be the 10th XDA thread started in the past week regarding this subject.
It's all rumors and speculation with no reliable confirmation. If there is a grain of truth to any of it, it won't mean anything to us now. More likely than not it's a device that won't be released until next fall. Those with more knowledge of these things than most of us have suggested it's a device that'll be announced at MWC, get shown off at Google I/O, and be released for the back-to-school or holiday shopping season next fall.

I was almost going to buy tf1 and saw on the net and realized tf2 is only a few Weeks away.

The announcment is a few weeks away. Nvidia did not even announced Kal-EL officially.
Which means at best i will be able to buy the TF2 next year q1/q2.
That's a pretty bad assumption. They haven't announced it. It will be at least a couple of weeks after an announcement. You can also factor in delays and such. I seriously doubt a release will be this year.
As far as I can tell, no company has even hinted at a Kal-El device for the near future.
And there will be delays... from both Nvidia and Asus. I'd be a bit surprised if they had released something before February.

Why in the world would you believe "some websites"?
The tegra 3 hasn't even been released yet. They've dropped hints here and there to keep their investors. But that is it. And based on history, these kinds of products are due for delays.
And don't expect the price of the TF 1 to drop. The TF2 will be $100 more.
I don't understand why people think the TF2 can come out in a couple weeks. Here's a breakdown of what's going to happen.
Nvidia has to actually release the chip. Asus engineers have to integrate it into their systems. There will undoubtedly be hardware and software bugs. They'll have to stamp out those bugs, or at least enough of the bugs for the system to be stable. Then they'd have to rush these new specs out to production.
You're looking at at least 6 months.
I learn from history. I first heard about a transformer-like device from asus in mid 2010. Just groundless rumors saying asus would "soon" come out with a powerful tablet that is different than any other tablets (keyboard dock hint hint). I waited and waited and waited... Then a year later, the TF finally came out. By that time, I had bought the a500.
So, again, what person in his right mind would think the TF 2 will come out in a couple weeks? I don't get it. Who started this ridiculous rumor?
tegra 3 is already a finished product.

i'm still hoping that it will release by end of this year. I think they are getting pretty close. They would not have finalized the price so far in advance if it was not slated for release until next year.
the price has been finalized by the CEO of the company.

Yea it's gonna be a screamer...... site says it's runnng Android 2.3....progress
Maybe it's sooo advanced it's too good for even HC
G for Games Source information for The TF2 is from Droid Life we all know no "just Rumors" there,
Wait for the 25nm chips thats he next real screamers
Of course... they didn't get the whole "different" tablet thing correct either... Always Innovating had it first. I was going to get that tablet.. but it was so ugly. So glad Asus made it so much better.
Isn't the TF1 still selling really well? What's the rush to cannibalize the success of this tablet? And I very much doubt that the TF2 is really that close to being ready to release. I'm guessing no sooner than early Q2 next year honestly. Really, the hardware of the TF1 isn't really holding it back at this point, it's the lack of a lot of good apps/games/etc IMHO. I just hope that other companies see the success of the true docking keyboard form factor so there will be other choices and a continued segement of the tab market that the TF101 currently holds all to itself. I really don't need a tab without the keyboard - it is MUCH easier to use as my laptop replacment with the tab docked. Also a big advantage to double the battery life with the dock.... anyway, I am digressing.... I call April 2012 for the TF2.
whats with all of this hate?
I would assume the best guess being October seeing as the CEO confirmed the Transformer 2 will NOT be delayed as previous speculation stated. This may push to November with the announcement of ICS being pushed back. We'll have to wait and see. I just purchased a Transformer a week ago and am returning it to wait for this beast.

What are you basing October/November on? Even if the CEO confirmed no delays, you have no idea what its general timeframe of release is. If X = expected release date and Y = delay, X - Y = Z (actual expected release date). You're somehow saying X - 0 = October/November, while providing no info that solves for X. Like I said in my last post, Q1 at the earliest, with April being my personal prediction.

TF1 was first shown in CES January 2011 but was really available in June/July. Wouldn't be suprised if TF2 has same schedule for 2012.
in response yto the OP's original question...no one knows for sure. It's anyones guess. if the history of the Tf1 means anything it will still be a while. Not that I doubt for a minuite they might try to rush some halfassed product out the door in time for Christmas sales. It's a business and that seems to be the norm in the computer and or mobile industry ...correction,,,all industries.

ok here you go buddy. It was a RUMOR that the transformer was to be released in october.
google Transformer 2 coming out in October you'll get dozens of other sites reporting the same thing.
Also, a report came out TODAY saying that the trasnformer 2 was slated for a november 7th release date according to a UK retailer.(READ LINK FROM POST ABOVE)
I cant post links because i need atleast 8 posts to post URLs
How many fingers are going to point to this date? April? I'd put my money on november 7th. Much more logical then to trust some random kid on a forum going "ya i think its april"
Edit: i know that it is a RUMOR that it was supposed to be released in October but think about it. Why would the CEO make claims that the transformer 2 would not be delayed if their wasnt a "general timeframe"

Google postpones Nexus Q retail launch, gives a the Q away for FREE

http://www.androidcentral.com/googl...nch-will-give-pre-order-customers-free-sphere
And I thought I got one hell of a deal when I bought mines 1/2 price on ebay! I would assume that the 'New' Nexus Q will come with a UI/Google TV perhaps... hopefully this will be something that current Nexus Q 'preview' owners will have a chance to move over our current device.
If you take a look at the email, Google said something to effect of,
We have an important update about your Nexus Q pre-order.
When we announced Nexus Q at Google I/O, we gave away devices to attendees for an early preview. The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm. We also heard initial feedback from users that they want Nexus Q to do even more than it does today. In response, we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.
To thank you for your early interest, we'd like to extend the Nexus Q preview to our pre-order customers and send you a free device. If you had other items in your order, your credit card will be charged for those items only.
Your Nexus Q will be on its way soon and you will receive a notification and tracking number from Google Play when it ships.

Notice the part where it says, "The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm"? To me that's saying that the hardware is staying the same, but all of their changes will be software based. If the hardware is the same, there's no reason that current owners wouldn't be able to update.
I got burned major, purchased two on ebay for $600 and CANCELED my preorders.....
I called them today to see if they would re-instate my preorders, and they said no.....
Got the logitech google tv free a few years ago..
but this just hurts...
I believe pre-orders could only be made by US residents so far right?
According to engadget those orders began shipping today. Whatever improvements they made should be apparent by the time those devices arrive to the people who ordered them (3 days generally)

Im wondering how they will send out an update to the Nexus Q's that rolled out before the "improvements" this thing certainly doesn't seem to have software for OTA updates built in, i guess it will be posted officially from google?
Good job Google. Bought one on eBay and not worth it at all. Thinking on selling it the apple TV does way to much more and I HATE apple products too.

[DISCUSSION] when do you think the next nexus mobile will be released

the title says it all.
i heard there are 5 nexus devices to be made this year? one of them being by HTC sporting a 5 inch 1080p screen with 4.1.2? (source: Yahoo News)
whem do you expect these devices to be released? which company's nexus will you buy? and why?
(ill provide the link to Yahoo news soon)
do you support the rumours that the next nexus will be coming out by the end of this year?
Since Google has released a new Nexus right around this time for the last 3 years I'm pretty sure we'll see a new one by December.
Here are some rumours:
http://www.mobilegyaan.com/google-nexus-features-rumors
http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile/what-do-we-know-about-the-next-nexus-20120928/
As for when, I think anywhere between the beginning of October to the end of November is most likely for them to announce the phones, with a release following within a month. It's really hard to say because it's essentially 100% speculation and making conclusions from patterns.
I like the next Nexus be a one of sony 's xperia
I want the LG Optimus Me to be a "Nexus"
The galaxy nexus 2 looks like it'll be nice in terms of development, but no groundbreaking specs. All the rumors seems to scream in unison "Quad-Core, 2GB of RAM" which will be a nice new release into the android scene for the end of the year combating the new "I" devices.

Never had a large tablet before..

So I've never owned a large tablet before, I had a nexus 7 for a few months but I sold it to pay bills. I have a galaxy s3 and between that my old nexus I know I'm definitely android fan all the way. To get the point I'm thinking of buying a nexus 10 but I'm hearing about a new version coming out late February early March and there is also talks of medium sized galaxy note 8 and a slightly smaller tablet sounds awesome, so my question is should I wait for the new nexus 10? Go buy the current one from walmart, get another nexus 7 or wait for the note 8?
Aloooottt of spelling and grammatical errors I know..
The only new version I could see coming out in the near future would be a gsm sim card version. For those people who want an lte version, not going to happen in a long long time, just get over it.

More powerful? Which one? First of all, why would they if they just released this processor on this device, first tablet with it anyways. Tegra 4 or the octa are not available and they have never revised a nexus device, they are not going to re-release the same tablet with any hardware upgrade, they will only do firmware updates, new hardware will come on the next nexus device. This is an awesome device, they just got to fix some things on the display/gamma department and thermal throttling.

Rumor or not...only time will tell...take a look here. I would hate to see it happen but if memory serves me right the Nexus 7 8GB got discontinued with the 16GB getting sold for the same price. Apples and oranges but could happen. Thumb down if it does.

A bit different , because for storage all they need to do is use a larger sd card inside the same device, CPU/GPU would require a lot more changes to the hardware, and would have a lot of customers pissed like myself that waited a long time for a tablet, and to see them do this and I got mine this Christmas, would not sit well with me and a lot of people, but hey that's just my opinion, really hope they wouldn't screw customers like that, and after I dropped a lot of money to buy a nexus 7 for the wife and a 10 for me, if they go and do that these would make the last Google/nexus devices I'll ever get.

Droid-Life posted a story about this rumored Nexus 10 2. Their thought (and it's all spevulation) is that they might announce it/show it off at MWC next month, officially announce it at I/O and release it in the fall. I wouldn't wait.
All the people reporting it are just regurgitating the original websites story and adding their own twist on it to make it sound like they've got the inside scoop. Fact: None of them know any more than the original story (if that's even true). It's typical bad circle jerking journalism. #1 reason I try to avoid almost all the Android `insider' (I'm looking at you Android Police) websites. It's hard to though when they all publish 9,245 stories a day to garner unwarranted page clicks.

HTC Nexus 10

So I'm kind of amazed there isn't a thread on this rumor yet. What better way to reenter the tablet market than with a nexus! For me, personally, this is a dream come true. I think that HTC uses the best displays of any manufacture currently and I would love to see one in a tablet. Maybe a 2k slcd4?

Considering the price of Nexus devices, I don't think HTC, if it makes the next gen Nexus 10, will use aluminum metal body. Samsung already did a good job in terms of build quality of the current Nexus 10.
Hope next gen Nexus 10 can be as light as the iPad Air.

I would take all these rumours with a pinch of salt and then add another sack of the stuff.Wasn't that long ago we were hearing various release date rumours and now we are hearing rumours of a new manufacturer.Basically Google haven't even found a supplier yet let alone a delivery date! Personally I don't think there will be a replacement hence why I bought the old nexus 10 after waiting and waiting and waiting and eventually giving up on RUMOURS of a new device coming soon.I do hope to be prooved wrong though.
I posted a comment about a future Nexus 10 when the current one ran out of stock in US. It was sometime ago, but I'd like to share how the next Nexus 10 should be for me .
(when asked what would the next Nexus 10 should have) For now I will keep my Nexus 10, it's still a beast device as I stated and I like to keep my high end devices for at least 2 years. But there are some things that could be upgraded ^^.
First - More storage. I bought the 32GB and I still think it's not enough. Probably a 64 or 128GB version would be amazing, as it's a media consumption device it requires storage, as not everyone can use cloud services, and a full HD movie is quite big.
Second - Add LTE option like they did with Nexus 7.
Third - Use Snapdragon 805 or Tegra K1 processor, they are true beasts, and tablets need to push more pixels, so a better graphics processor is important.
Fourth - If going with the Tegra K1, it would be an interesting (actually it's more of a dream of mine here, very hard for this to happen now) to have a 4K screen, current Nexus screen is already killer, a 4K would be a mass destruction device lol. While it's still a dream the 4K screen on it, they could make it LED at least, so the complaints of light bleeding would reduce drastically.
Fifth - Samsung, Asus, Sony or Motorola create it. Samsung sucks with software, but the software here would be Google, so it's no problem. Asus proved to be a great tablet developer with the last Nexus 7s. Sony has the most beautiful devices ever, and adding water resistance to a Nexus would be very cool. And Motorola developed Xoom, which is a great device and the godfather of Android tablets, would be great to see them developing a new one. (As rumors seems to be, this one won't be any true lol, but I have expectations that HTC can do a good job too).
Sixth - More RAM would be appreciated ^^'.
Seventh - More accessories at a better price would be of great use too.
And I think it's only that I can imagine for the next Nexus. There aren't main flaws on the current one now. Almost all the problems went away with the KitKat upgrade, and I'm happy with it .

I expect there will be a new Nexus 10 because it is out of inventory and has been for about a month.
If they were not restocking it or replacing it with a new one then why is it even listed on the play store site and why does it say check back soon?
When they no longer make or offer something it is removed from the site.
So it seems obvious that something will replace it.
IMO, the rumors of who will build it have no basis.
The sites who post thees articles get paid by the advertisers.
To get paid they need to draw people to the site.
They write one thing one day and something totally different the next, sometimes contradicting themselves.
Personally I heard Sony will build it at Dell and label it as a Samsung tablet and sell it in an HTC box and it will run Android 7.3 (nestle crunch).
