[Q] adb no devices found in recovery - HTC Droid DNA

Hey guys,
I can't get adb shell whenever I'm in recovery. I followed this guide to get root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996389 however when I'm in recovery adb doesn't detect the device. I'm using linux and the latest sdk from google. Whenever the device is powered up normally, I have no issues... just when in recovery.
Any ideas?
thank you

When I was having that trouble, I disconnected my phone from the computer and reboot it and rebooting, I made sure I had Developer Options turned on before I connected to the computer and it worked for me. Hopefully it helps for you

I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.7 Touch & Classic from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051547
I can't reboot my computer right now but I'll check whenever I reboot again. That shouldn't be an issue though right? It's not like I'm in windows where I need to reboot cause of a new driver.

Just go into your device manager to make sure it is either installed correctly or even showing up. i won't be able to help until next week to make sure my adb works.

got to the folder you have adb.exe in, press and hold shift, rightclick and select open command prompt here, then type adb devices if your tab shows up you have adb. Put rom in same directory (folder) as adb.exe. do adb push /name of rom/ sdcard after that you "should" be able to install rom alternately, if you have an external sd card, load rom on card, latest twrp can use external sdcards....
Ok, can't get adb to pickup the tablet in recovery or fastboot. If its just trying to boot it shows up in adb... but when I try to push anything it fails. I think I am on the latest twrp but its not seeing the external sd.

You have to be running twrp when you are trying to adb... I don't think you can adb while android is running though I have never tried it.
Ok, so adb would not work in recovery at all with twrp 2.0. I could acess fastboot so i just flashed the latest twrp recovery. Once that was done I just mounted the sd card and tada..... I don't know whats up with adb but its a problem if your not running the latest twrp. Just scraped by this time...thank god recovery can now mount sd cards......

Accidently wiped internal storage

So I dont have my nanadroid backup...thats not my concern because i can just flash the stock rom...but anyways i dont have an os installed i have twrp recovery...im tryin to adb sideload the rom.zip so i can then flash the rom. Could someone please enlighten me how to do this or a detailed tutorial ive searched but im having no luck thanks in advance!!!

You can flash cwm through adb. Adb might be buggy through recovery it was at first. I'd post on the twrp thread to see if a someone has an idea

I had this problem myself today and started freaking out. After a brief 15 second panic attack I realized I could side load. I have twrp and sideloaded very easily.
I used the all in on toolkit listed in the android dev section and cleanrom 1.5. I put cleanrom on my desktop and renamed it to Rom.zip. I started the aio tool which has a button for sideloading a Rom. Boot the phone into recovery and plug it into your pc. (I am assuming you have the HTC drivers installed) From TWRP click on advance and the adb sideload. Then click the side load button on the aio tool. This will attempt to reboot your phone first but since you're already there just close the command prompt that comes up. A new window will come up for you to chose the zip. Navigate to your desktop and pick the zip you put on the desktop (longer paths seem to cause issue with sideloading). Then it will push the zip to your phone. The command prompt on your pc will have a percentage progress. Once done just flash that zip like normal.
I had to reboot my phone using the volume down power button method before I could get back to twrp and the install froze once in Aroma. But I just flashed it again and it worked. Once I got it back I just put my backup back on the phone, booted back to twrp, and restored my backup.
Sorry if this seems unorganized, had two toddlers crawling all over me while. typing. Using the AIO should work

Am i screwed?

well decided to install some custom roms. installed recovery via adb wiped phone. forgetting we cant mount usb. so i went to push it via adb. " "waiting for phone" once i got passed that error i go to use adb sideload. well once i put abd shell. in the command prompt. and hit abd sideload in twrp. it disconnects from pc for a second then comes back. but knocks me off abd shell. i am having trouble pushing a rom to my phone now. which is completely wiped. im stumped at this point
well fixed. after getting some good rest i tried another method. it seems the updated adb. does not allow to you to be in adb shell and inititiate the adb sideload command via twrp or cwm. you can now do it normaly "adb sideload xxx.zip inside of being in adb shell command menu first. just a heads up for anyone who got stuck like me
your old rom should still be there if you reboot, you'll have to set it up again, but then just copy the rom you want to use back to the phone, unless of course you wiped /system as part of your procedure.
If you did that, and you didn't create a NANDROID backup before wiping or attempting to install anything, you can boot to bootloader and install cwm recovery from sk8trwithskil, It for sure supports adb mode from recovery
from that recovery you can adb push your rom to the sd card
adb push /rom.name.here /sdcard
then you can install the rom

Yes fatherrrrr. i have one lol
I am in a situation similiar to what you were in, but I don't have any adb support in Recovery, I cant mount usb at all in any of the 3 recoveries either, I did have ADB within the phone before I had my accident... I've even reinstalled the android sdk and rebooted, done everything I can think of but I'm running out of ideas now. I've reinstalled the drivers found in the tool thread as well, although I used the ones the came with the phone the first time. Any help?
I had the same problem and tried everything, was just about to throw in the towel and by accident tried you last thing and I fixed it. This is so easy your going to kick yourself, hope it works for you. This is what I did… 1-download HTC One All in one toolkit (I know most of it doesn’t work but this will) Once opened and extracted (On your desktop) right click it and run as ADMIN. 2-click FLASH RECOVERY and install TWRP. 2-in Commands click ERASE CACHE . 2-In Extras click ADB SIDELOAD A ROM (I know you have tried it and it never worked in the past but by ERASE CACHE it works) When you run ADB SIDELOAD A ROM you just need to follow the instructions.. Good luck
Wiping system data and factory reset doesnt wipe memory card since we don't have a separate card?

abd sideload works fine in cwm and twrp. but being the dummy I am was late. and didn't realize. that the updated adb.exe.... command is adb sideload xxx.zip you not longer have to do adb shell first. and when I was doing this is was kicking me out. of adb. or get yourself a otg cable and use that via twrp
OTG cable? I've heard it but don't know what it is
Also I couldn't get any adv commands to work. Can't get anything to mount. Other than cache.

you can do without if you can get your sideload working. if you cant I would spend the 2 bucks or so on the cable load the rom on a usb stick plug in and flash to revive your phone. adb sideload works great here. but I use otg cable for ease of use
That's what happens when I try to sideload. Nothing will mount. Guess I'll order and OTG and see if I can mount external/sd
Also every time I try to sideload it freezes my laptop.

You have to boot into fastboot mode to install this custom recovery on your device. Do you have fastboot and ADB setup on your computer and the device drivers installer for the Nexus 5? If you don't have fastboot and ADB setup on your computer I would recommend taking a look at this simple fastboot and ADB installer . Once you have fastboot and adb setup, and the device drivers installed follow the following steps:
1. Download this file.
2. Move the downloaded recovery file into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer.
3. Navigate into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer and run the following commands from the command prompt on your computer:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery hammerhead-cwm-6.0.4.4-unofficial.img
After following this procedure you will then have Clockworkmod Recovery installed on your device. Let me know if you still have questions.
And make sure you
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
first!
I installed the recovery via fastboot.
When i try to boot into recovery i'm stuck at google screen.
I'm able to reboot the device.
Whats wrong?

Interesting I'm curious to know if the TWRP build I posted does the same any hints from dmesg or last_kmsg would also be beneficial, is it possible for you use Android Debug Monitor (DDMS and Monitor in Android SDK tools folder if you have the sdk installed) and upload a log?
Okay so here is propably another noob question: On my HTC Sensation I had 4ext as recovery. What are the differences between this and 4ext or TWRP? Is there a thread somewhere I couldn't find!?

[Q] Please some Help

Hi, to all.
I know that this has been ask many times,but....
I did search and try almost a every solution i could find on XDA fórum.
I did i complete wipe and voilá, no OS on my Droid DNA, i was rooted but on S-ON, and i had the Venon 3.0.1
I was installing the new Viper 3.1.0 but did the full system wip,and now only can acess my Bootloader and Recovery (TWRP).
Also when rebboting or turning off from recovery it says that there's no root app instaled, and try's to install but it can find it.
I can connect to fastboot, but no adb (when i do adb devices it shows a blank on the device) but on Fastboot it shows the device number.
I try to upgrade drivers and android adb /fastboot, but no luck, in sideload or push the Rom to the phone.
Also i can navigate on the recovery, and try to mount system etc,but also with no luck.
I tryed on Linux and Windows 8, but still no luck.
I'm trying right now another thing that i found on this question and answer thread (that is install pdaneta4126) but still nothing.
Can anyone provide me some insight or light on this matter?
I know that if i have acess to recovery not all is lost, so after a lot of fight and banging with my head, i would like some assistance if it would be possible)
I'm rooted since the 1.15 and didn´t upgrade Hboot or Radios, if this helps and i was in TWRP 2.63, but now flashed 2.7.
Or can i RUU back to stock, and re-root, or what i can do to solve this?
Thank you for all the help you can give me.

I can go to the recovery, and connect the sideload, but the Linux and the Windows 8 but when i try to adb sideload viperDNA.zip to the internal storage, it just says "error device not found"
But if i do in fastboot (fastboot devices) the pc detects and returns the number.
In adb (adb devices) the system returns a blank space where it should be the device number.
Also i unable to push a file to sdcard.
Try this thread::: Even if you have accidentally formatted your internal storage and you have no files on your phone, this section is down the bottom of the thread. Only follow this if you have no access to your phone and have nothing installed on your sdcard. For everybody else simply follow from step 1.
above is an excerpt from the text.

Download PdaNet and it will reinstall your adb drivers and you should be able to find your device.
Adb push can push a rom to the phone and then just flash it and your good.
