Galaxy S II auto power off after updating to 4.1.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys..
I just got my SGSII updated to 4.1.2 and i got a strange auto power off while the battery was fully charged..
My phone was 4.0.4.. Got it to a fully data wipe before and then updated to 4.1.2.. Also did a full data wipe on 4.1.2..
It runs perfect.. fast no battery issues exept off that strange auto power off.. I switched my phone back on no problem but I never had this problem before the update..
Please note that i have these power off's on my wife's SGSII too after updating to 4.1.2..
Anyone has any ideas regarding this ??
Thanx in advance..

Occasional shut downs

Is anyone else experiencing occasional shut downs? The phone just shuts down when not in use.
Is this just my phone or is it coomon?
any ideas how to fix it?
Firmware is updated to 2.3.3 with Kies.
Hey !
I don't have the solution, but my phone does the same.
I have the leaked firmware 2.3.4 XXKPH
Anyone got an answer ?
It's called "wake up from sleep" bug, nothing you can really do about this unless you flash a rom without this bug.
Cynogenmod wich will be released soon is built from scratch i believe, so probably it wonthave this bug.
edit: or "SOD" (screen of death)
Hey!
You can try this ROM.
From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184108
Its pretty good one.
CHEERS!
I've had this problem with all the ROM's I've tried. Stock, coderom and gingerreal
It is really starting to annoy me so if anyone knows of a fix I would be greatful to hear it
Hey!
You can drop here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191262 and leave some feedback if you want.
CHEERS!
Try flashing to KPN firmware.
And also everytime you flash to a new firmware, don't forget to reset to factory settings and erase cache partition in boot recovery console.
Did you have problems and fixed it with the KPN firmware?
Also isn't the CPU clock not to low when idle?
My girlfriends Ace isn't rooted so i can't check.
But maybe someone can try to put the
idle speed a little higher in SetCPU.
It's just a wild guess

Yes, in my case the occasional SODs stopped when switching from 2.3.4 KPH to 2.3.3 KPN firmware.
My wife's Ace is on 2.3.3 KPL and the problem is there.

[Q] Screen off but won't wake, Why?

Hello SGS2 users! Has anyone experienced this problem before?
I was originally running VK 5.1.2 without a problem then I flashed RR 2.5.3; didn't really like the theme then I came across PFittech ROM GTX which I thought "Wow!".
After flashing, I noticed that when the screen went off and locked, it won't wake and I need to pull battery and reboot.
As you may know that is extremely inconvenient so I flashed stock rom and went back to VK 5.1.2 but this hasn't stopped the problem
I have done all the wipes (cache, dalvik, factory/data and format system!

Ur having SOD, sleep of death... when ur phone enters deepsleep it wont get up.
this is frequently related with UV, or poor bus freq.
u should flash a kernel cleaner like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738
or any other. then u have to flash a new kernal.
Thanks mate! Will try this now
Still there
Firstly, I flashed stock firmware, then I flashed cf-root. Went into recovery and done a full wipe and flashed the script.
I done another wipe then installed VK Rom (I have never had a problem with this) and left the phone for 30 secs on screen off and it came back.
What should I do next?
Should I check all settings for CPU and GPU? Revert them to standard? I don't touch those settings as I don't have a great knowledge of changing volts and clock speeds.
Maybe you could let it on stock (unrooted) and see if it happens again...

You can just wipe data, dalvic and cache and try salmanrom its the best I promise, you will never go back to another aokp rom!

I flashed the stock LPB firmware and used it for a full day and I never experience any SoD. Tried a few custom roms and still having the error.
Although there may seem there is nothing wrong with the phone, I have never had a problem with any roms I use. All the roms I am trying are previous downloads that have worked successfully so I doubt there is any corruption.
I won't be giving up and I will be trying everything and anything... the now I am going to try Gingerbread based roms and see if I still get the error. If anyone else has any more ideas please tell me.

Can i suggest u to use rootbox ics?? Is almost flawless and i thinkbu wont have any problem
If u still getting sod u could try giving a little more voltage to ur cpu or bus...if u use fluxi with this rom is very easy to do that

Im a first time root user i flashed RR 2.5.3 with fluxi kernel over my stock ics its running very smoth and had no problem so far
You might need to check your cpu frequency i read her that if it was set to less than 200Mhz you might have the sleep of death issue

I always do a full wipe but today I've seen something unusual.
Kernel Panic Upload Mode came up when the phone was off?
I am flashing back to GB and see if any SoD appear.
Mate, there is something wierd with ur phone...
There sure is.. I am running KI3 GB with CF Root and not received any SoD. Seems to be only on custom roms?
Good news! I fixed it!
What I did:
First of all, I had an extended battery and I swapped it for the old battery (Because of case with stand it won't fit)
Flashed stock GB (XXKI3)
Flashed CF-Root KI3
Full Wipe (Cache, Factory/Data, Dalvik, Battery stats)
Format System
Flashed Kernel Cleaner
Flashed VK 5.1.2
Flashed Siyah 3.3.2
So after doing all this, the SoD has gone. So it must be a problem with Fluxi on my device.
I may be wrong but after doing this the problem stopped and I am happy again
So thank you to you all who tried to help!
I have the same problem, except my SOD also has high battery drain even though the phone is pretty much useless. Very annoying when you are relying on the alarm clock. Did you also notice high battery drain?
I found it happened on Thebyani 4.3, not on 4.4, and now it happened on 4.5. Im hoping the kernel cleaner and the latest Siyah kernel will fix it. Any kernels you guys recommend if it still happens?

well gr8 then mate!
Q: could u ever tryed giving some more voltage to cpu in fluxi?
I had a high battery drain already abd i bought a new extended battery. I am charging the device the now and it has heated but i took it off and turn it off to cool. I am going to recalibrate the battey
Try doing what I did to see if it helps.
Flash a stock unrooted firmare and see if you still get SoD
Ive been using my phone since i posted and not had one SoD.
Do you mess with your freqs? Try keeping them to basic

- Do a factory reset, it is recommended after software upgrade or downgrade
- switch to custom kernel if the problem persists
Good luck

yes
Yes, on ICS the battery drain was very fast while using wifi or screen on sometimes it drained 1% in 1 sec so in 10 mins 10%.
I am currently on stock gingerbread rom (rooted)
I few minutes back installed one live wall paper and noticed that screen use to come up after few seconds. After uninstall the same screen has not come up.
But still i can see awake 3m (188 secs) 16.1%.
thanks

Speedmod kernel, make sure you are flashing the gingerbread version.
Flashing an ICS kernel will result into bootloops

i would like to recommend u to use stock kernel
and make sure to do a full wipe also format / system before flashing
a stock rom (untouched) and check ur battery if drain fast... then u should replace it ...

this is due to the fact that your battery reading is still inaccurate, the fuel gauge is trying to settle down/calibrate your battery.
Ps: if you can reupgrade back to ICS, I'm sure I'll be able to narrow down and fix your battery drain issue

since you presently have root access, you can just flash a custom stock based Rom, with less bugs all the way.
It's faster and safer than using kies or whatever they call it

[Q] Bootloop on pure Stock

Hey guys,
I know you guys probably think oh god not another boot loop thread, but i couldn't find someone with the same problem as this one. I don't own a s2 myself but my friend does and he doesnt understand a thing about android. He has never updated his phone, it's not rooted or unlocked or anything. But a few days ago the phone randomly shut down and went into a bootloop. I tried to wipe his cache via the recovery menu but that didn't work. Then i did a factory reset and that sort of worked, the phone worked again but yesterday it did the same thing. he likes the phone the way it is so he'd rather not update it.
Does anybody know what could cause this bootloop and what he can do to fix it? If he has to update is there a safe way to update but stay on gingerbread? I myself own a Xperia Arc, i know that flashing roms through flashtool is pretty safe, is there anything like that for the S2?
thx in advance
(system information)
You would use Odin instead of flashtool. You can get the rom from sammobile.
First check he can get into download mode.....

[Q] Random Reboot problem

Hii guys and girls, i am using the s3 international which recently had its internal storage almost full. so i downloaded a zip file called zoot's wipe scripts and wiped it. it worked fine
after that i flashed 4.3 crdroid which started giving me random reboots so i wanted the stock back..i thought it was some rom bug.
So i jumped back to 4.1.2 omega rom v48 version...the random reboot problem now is more than it was in 4.3
Using the phenominal kernal(Medium) with v48. i flashed the 43.5v of omega and still have the same problem...and now the battery drain too high coz of the reboots.. the phone lags a lot now. YES I DO A FULL WIPE ALL THE TIME!
So if any of you have any solution to this problem..please help me.
P.s Sorry if my english is bad.
Thanks in advance
Try Super wipe then install ur rom whatever omega ... and try it without any custom kernel
report back if that helped u
