[Q][SOLA]-Some questions about flashing stock ICS .54 from eXperience v.1.1 by Divaks - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys, i've unlocked my bootloader and i've rooted. I flashed eXperience v.1.1 by Divaksh (stock based) and i want to return to stock ics 'cause i want to try cm9.1. Now the questions:
1- Will i have locked bootloader again?
2- Will i lost my root permission?
and the last: can i flash stock ics via CWM?
thank you :good:

Nope. Bootloader is independent of roms & kernels so you wont lose Bootloader unlock
But you'll always lose root if you flash Stock. And if you want to flash with cwm, see if anyone has uploaded a CWM flashable zip for the firmware. Else you need to use Flashtool
Hope it helps
Cheers

So this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030261 would work just wiping and flashing with CWM?
Thanks for your help :fingers-crossed:

Yes I believe that ought to work fine
Enjoy
Cheers

Thanks man but the stock ics flashed by CWM and pc companion said me i had to update the system even if it was already .54 version and any attempt to update failed because of my unlocked bootloader. The same firmware flashed by flashtool didn't need any update and finally allowed my to boot "pure blood" ROM. Thanks anyway :cyclops:

Cant you enter into flashmode????
Question
Need More details:
1)Locked or Unlocked Bootloader?
2)Which stock kernel you flashed? Downloaded from?
3)[If Locked Bootloader] Can you enter xrecovery? If can, make full wipe, clear cache partition, install new ROM via "install custom zip from SDcard.
4)[If Unlocked Bootloader] Try flash some custom Kernel for Unlocked bootloader like DooMKernel, see whether it reach recovery mode or not.
Sincerely,
whitefang
If can, pls kindly hit thanks button as an appreciation

[Q] Root on unlocked bootloader

Hi!
I am new to rooting and flashing on Android. I have an Xperia S which is currently in repair for yellow tint/spots on the screen. When I get it back and know that it is working i will unlock the bootloader using the official method.
My goal is to have rooted gingerbread on the phone, maybe with a better kernel. I have found a prerooted ftf with the FW that I want. Can I just flash that one and it will work?
Do I have to install custom recovery?
Thanks in advance!
Have I understood it right? unlocked bootloader + flash prerooted system rom. That should work?
If I want to install custom rom I need custom recovery. I would appreciate if someone could verify this for me, thanks!

bootloader unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with flashing through PCC. just connect and if it says update do it...... u will only get problem if u flashed a custom rom.... if u flash custom u wont get update via PCC.... wait for a .tft file of ics...... i bet some one will eventually post it( and hopefullyearlier than the default PCC of ur region ).... then just flash it via flash tool..... if u find a .tft of ics sola the follow only the first step of this link

if i helped please click thanx.............
With an unlocked bootloader you cant update via pcc. You can either relock your phones bootloader and flash a stock rom or wait for someone to upload a ftf and flash it via flashtool

Thanks so for relocking does the rooting matter or do i have to do something to revert back the rooting also .. or just relocking is enough
Your phone won't boot after the relock so you'll have to flash a stock rom

Help needed--Custom ROMs, Bootloader??

hi everybody!
I need an help. Sorry for my bad english, I'm only 16 and I'm Italian.
I have an Xperia Mini, it's my first android phone, so I'm not very good at android modding! I downgraded it from ICS (Official) to Gingerbread (4.0.2.A.0.42 build) and I rooted it. Then I installed ClockWorkMod recovery. I don't have an unlocked bootloader, but I want to flash a custom ROM based on gingerbread. If I flash it, can I go back to stock rom with CWM's restore function? And If I can't, can I use flashtool to flash it (I have the .ftf file that I flashed for downgrading)?
Thanks very much.
Welcome to our forum
You can flash a gingerbread custom rom for locked bootloader with cwm, but be sure it is for locked bootloader!
If you take a backup in cwm, with backup/restore -> backup before you install the custom rom, you can restore this backup to go back to stock. Flashing the stock ftf will also work, you have to decide if you want to restore or flash, but if you take the backup in cwm it will backup the whole firmware with all apps etc :good:
Thanks! :good:
But do I need to flash a custom kernel? Or can I keep the stock kernel?

For locked bootloader custom roms it's the stock kernel :good:
For unlocked bootloader roms you need to flash a custom kernel, but this is only possible on unlocked bootloader

but the description says..."it should work with any ICS kernel...I currently have this kernel...2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
can I flash this ROM? And if my phone gets Briccked, can I repair it with CWM or it won't boot into recovery?
Sorry for my bad english :crying:

Normally it should work, but the problem is there's not specified if it is for locked or unlocked bootloader. It's stock based so it could work on locked, but it is recommend to flash a kernel. You could try it, but it could be you get a brick
When it's bricked, (mostly) you can't boot in recovery so you have to flash the stock rom with flashtool
Another little advice: If you install an ics custom rom on a gingerbread phone it could end in a brick. I had this when I was on locked bootloader, so I updated to ics (while keeping root, how to do this is in my rooting guide) and installed it again.
You can try an ics custom rom on your phone running gingerbread, just install it. But if it won't boot, flash the stock gingerbread rom and update it with root to ics
Ok. But before installing a rom, I have to do a full wipe, and wiping all will delete the CWM recovery?
I think I'll first upgrade to ICS officially. Can I use pc companion? or I have to flash the .ftf file of the stock 4.0.4 firmware with flashtool?

Read the instructions in the thread, generally you have to yes as it avoids any conflicts.

1.) make nandroid backup
2.) factory reset/wipe data
3.) wipe cache/partition
4.) format system
5.) wipe dalvik cache and battery stats.
6.) flash ROM
7.) flash supersu fix, there are lots of links out there just incase you have problems with root. this will solve your problem if u have locked BL
8.) if you lose CWM, you can use led deletes x-recovery tool to install cwm after you boot your rom
BUT TAKE NOTE THAT THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS YOU MUST DO IN "SOME" Custom ROMS like Hasa(flashing lockscreen after 1st boot)
MAKE SURE TO READ THE THREAD's INSTRUCTIONS FIRST
Ok i read all the guides...now I'll update to ics and root it. Then I'll install a custom rom.

So, I have my unlocked bootloader and CM9, I want to go back to the stock firmware and use a custom kernel, so.. for install the stock firmware, can I just flash the ftf via flashtools normally? or I will have any problem?
and for install the custom kernel I suppose that i only should install a recovery and flash it.... Am I right?
Thanks!

Yup that's about it.
And you flash custom kernel with fastboot, that will save you tha hassle of rooting and installing CWM recovery..

Can we use this method in xperia sola too? So we flash the stock firmware directly by using flashtool and then the kernel, and in any part of the process do we need to wipe anything at all?
Thanks in advance
