[Q] How to customize notification bar on stock ICS ROM with TouchWiz? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
On my SGS II - I9100 I have a ROOTED stock official ICS ROM with touchwizz.
I installed Nova Launcher, with that I can customize many visual aspects.
But the notification bar stills as is it, with stock colors, icons...
My question is: While being rooted, how can I change visual aspects of the notification bar?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards

On my old Ace (5830i) I used http://uot.dakra.lt/ UOT Kitchen to change notification bars. Of course the rom I used was Gingerbread but I see from the kitchen features it seems to support ICS/JB. One of the banners ststes it works with ODEX stock roms.
Points to note is that iirc the edify type (used to create the update script) for S2 should be EMMC type not Galaxy (Ace).
You would need to upload the system files from the /framework - framework-res.apk and from /system - SystemUI.apk as you are using Nova you should not need to worry about twframework-res.apk (if this file even exists in ICS as I know more about GB)
If this helps let me know, a thanks button click is nice too ofc!
Good luck

This should do the trick http://uot.dakra.lt/ You just upload the relevant files to your rom, works with everything, it takes you through everything.

All things except lockscreen worked from the UOT kitchen.. but before doing kitchen use your own firmware framework files rather than attached ones ...
For transparent status bar ur launcher should support the transparency...
Btw golauncher and laucherpro doesnt support status bar transparency....

Transfer of Custom rom themes

I would like to transfer the theme from one rom to another. I will be transferring Scott's Developer edition theme from his Cleanrom Developer edition to a stock deodex'd rom. Is there any way to do this? I have little experience with themeing roms but I can follow directions pretty good.
isn't cleanrom pretty much a stock rom?

it can be as simple as pushing the specific apps into your phone but it isnt most of the time...
devs make loads of modifications and such so usually isnt as simple
but id suggest you check out tutorials about themeing and the intro to themeing thread

call me crazy but I *think* the blue theme from the dev edition is actually a skin defaulted by the ROM, called blu bugaloo or something? see if there's an apk in /system/app for that ROM, put it into the same place for the ROM you want, it should just show up in your skin options, apply it? you could also ask scott, he's a good dev and quite helpful

Yes that theme file is part of it but I dont think it changes everything. I have asked Scott and he has been helping me quite a bit, but I don't want to bug him either . He told me to ask on his forum too but I already had this topic open...

the skin is basically fusion.apk, to get any other themed items from a ROM, you could pull out these and use them in your new ROM:
/system/app/SystemUI.apk
/system/app/Rosie.apk
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/framework/htc.resources.apk
/system/app/dialer.apk (only if the dialer is themed)
/system/app/phone.apk (same ^^^)

This has worked for everything but the GPS icon. The icon is still stock and visible even when disabled. Scott's rom has replaced the GPS icon and made it invisible when GPS was turned off. Any ideas?
you can replace the gps on icon with one that has been made transparent, but without being able to use pc at the moment cant tell you where its at. i think in either systemui or framework-res

I tried copying the systemui from Scott's rom to the stock rom and flashing it, but it doesn't make a difference. I verified that the same images from Scott's rom are in the rom I just flashed, as I can view them with root explorer. It still shows stock though.
The three custom image files for the gps icon in scotts rom are:
stat_sys_gps_acquiring
stat_sys_gps_acquiring1
stat_sys_gps_acquiring2
However, the rom is ignoring these files and instead using:
sym_gpsone_0_sprint
sym_gpsone_3_sprint
sym_gpsone_0_vzw
These three files are the stock white sense crosshair icons.
This is a view of the files from SystemUI.apk res\drawable-hdpi
The three blue icons are the ones I want to use.
That was small, here is a bigger version:

if you have 7zip you can open the apk with the images you want, copy them to your desktop, rename them to the name the new rom uses, then paste or drag them into the new apk (opened with 7zip), by the way, I think/hope you're off one png name, no way is a sprint rom using a vzw png lol
I was wrong, it is only using two files:
sym_gpsone_0_sprint
sym_gpsone_3_sprint
One is GPS active and one is GPS off.
I dont think renaming it is the issue. I have tried copying the entire systemUI.apk folder from Scott's rom over to the stock rom, and it still does the same thing. The default icons are also present in Scott's rom, just not used.
My next question is, what file (XML file?) references these files?

-trust me, pull the 3 images you want out of his sysUI using 7zip
-rename from stat_blah_acquire_0
to sym_sprint_gps_blah_0

-paste in renamed pngs
-push modded apk to phone or flash it

UOT Kitchen with ICS???

Has anyone got the UOT Kitchen working on the Galaxy S2 running one of the ICS ROMS (either ported or leaked stock) to be able to change the battery and status bar icons?
I'm trying to create a plain white set of icons and white circle battery to match more with the Google notifications for Music, GMail etc. instead of the TW grey that Samsung uses on their ROMS.
I choose the mods, upload framework and tw-framework, get the zip but it errors out in CWM???
Any ideas???
Is it possible yet?

I don't think it supports ICS yet, also you need to upload the SystemUI.apk because ICS uses that now for almost everything UI related.
I think i read on the i9000 board that you have to select emmc in the edify section. Havent tried it yet though.

I've tried it with uploading 2 files (framework and system) and it would not install the zip. I've also tried it with uploading 3 files (above plus the tw one) and uot kitchen was not able to generate a file.
I tried to change the battery to a white circle one with numbers. In to see if there is a solution to this.

This is what I'm getting too.
If you change to EMMC and upload framework and tw-framework only, it DOES create the zip, but when you install it it only changes some of the icons (the downloading file icon for example.) Not the signal strength, wifi, alarm clock or battery though.
I tried it just gives some error and doant let u download it like ntfs or some other code

[Q] Is it possible to customize Galaxy Ace via SDK/ADB?

Hi guys. Galaxy Ace 2.3.6, rooted, successfully uninstalled several system apps (allshare, samsung apps, etc.), and using a market-downloaded launcher.
Now I want to customize my Ace even more without installing a custom ROM. I know some people do it via ADB. Is this possible with Ace? Suppose I already have the SDK and ADB installed, then what? Can anyone provide step by step instructions, please?
Like if I wanted to make the pull-down menu (where the shortcuts of wifi, bluetooth, sound, gps, and auto-rotate are located) semi-transparent, I think it's possible with ADB, I just don't know how to go about it.
Also, changing the font color and font size, for example.
Many thanks!

Get apk tool. Now you can decompile apps to edit graphics and code.
Inside the res folder you find graphics. Edit them with a good program and you can change transparency, colors, whatever.
SystemUI.apk and Framework-res.apk Have the notification and Status bar. Also check UOT Kitchen, make changes and compare to the original files.
Other apks for UI changes include Settings.apk, dialer, diáltab, Shutdown, etc.
Just dive in and experiment. As long as you got a Backup youll be alright.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
dxppxd, have you done all that with your galaxy ace?
I have succesfully put a semitransparent Black Status bar, changed the looks of many icons (including check boxes, circles, the USB mass storage android picture, etc ) and changed the toggles icons to ICS style (I took the ones from tj_droids ICS stock theme).
Also got the ddkq8 lockscreen with centered clock, and added status bar icons from UOT Kitchen.
I'll post my framework and systemui apks later today (stock ddkq8) when I get home so you can open them and check them out (compare the files inside them with your own). Changing graphics is easy all you really need is winrar or 7zip and a graphics editor . Adding more settings, expanded menus, etc, that's the complicated part, you need apk tool.
Check this great tut

[MOD][Xposed] CoolBeans AOSP Style Statusbar for TouchWiz

This Mod requires Xposed Framework
This has only been tested on S4 Stock TW Rom 4.3 but if you would like to use this on a different version please post your SystemUI.apk and I will look into supporting more versions.
This is a very lightweight mod that just replaces most of the Statusbar and Expanded Statusbar icons with AOSP style or AOSP-Blue Style icons.
If you would like to see more support for this mod please post your feedback and suggestions.
Installation Instructions:
Download .zip attachment
Extract .apk from zip
Push apk to phone and install
Enable CoolBeans Mod in Xposed->Modules app
Reboot (or Soft Reboot) phone
Download - http://theappproducer.com/coolbeans.php
Special thanks to rovo89 for the Xposed framework.
UPDATE
New version "Cool Beans White" just added. This is exact same mod but with icons in WHITE instead of BLUE. You can find this download on the same url above for original cool beans version
Nice work.
I ought to have this back when I had an i9100.... (don't have any use for it now, with my i9505 running a GP edition ROM)
Thanks.
Yes, i wouldn't have any use for it either except I need TW to work with my gear and got tired of looking at the TW icons... so this is why I made the mod.
It won't work on 4.1 jellybean right? I have a Galaxy Fame phone. I could upload systemui.apk twframework and framework if you want
sure, post them and i'll take a look
Could you please make one in reverse? Port Sammy to AOSP?
