What is it?
Gingerbread - or is it? Guaranteed to be the most authentic holo experience for gingerbread-running galaxy players. Comes in red or blue - you choose! On top of complete holo bliss, you will also find things essential to custom roms such as; lidroid toggles, market compatibility mod, and much more!
Why should I care?
Because if you haven't noticed; HOLO ROCKS!
This is already the most complete holo-themed rom for the galaxy player (excluding cm9/10, duh), but I wont rest until every ugly scrap of touchwiz has been eradicated - long live holo.
What kernel should I use?
I strongly recommend the stock kernel, but it will work on any gingerbread-based kernel for your device.
Will it work on my device?
This has been confirmed working on both U.S and International versions of the 4.0 AND 5.0!
How do I install?
To install with Heimdall: Download the appropriate heimdall zip for your device, extract, and flash factoryfs.rfs with heimdall (search around or ask if you need help with heimdall).
To install with CWM: Download the appropriate CWM zip for your device to /sdcard, boot into recovery, go to "mounts and storage", select "format /system", go back to main menu when that finishes, then select "wipe cache partition". After that, go to "install zip from sdcard", select the zip you downloaded. Flash and reboot. With any luck, you'll be done!
If you want to have ICS blue instead of red as the accent color, flash the appropriate blue_patch.zip for your rom version with cwm after installing the rom, or push the contents of the "system" folder inside the zip to their respective places in the /system partition with a root explorer or adb (for advanced users that know what their doing).
A full data wipe is recommended just to keep things clean and may be necessary depending on what rom you are coming from (coming from stock shouldn't be a problem).

Known Bugs/Issues
- Supersu's binary must be updated before apps can gain root acces
- CWM version converts /system to ext4
- The 5.0 doesn't have flash for it's camera app FIXED!
- The 5.0 doesn't have the market compatibility mod or Google Talk video chat mod FIXED!
- The 5.0 doesn't have roboto fonts FIXED!
- Some people report their 5.0 reboots when earphones are plugged in, but others say it is fine

This looks and sounds amazing! I'll definitely try it. I know this may be too much to ask (and it kinda screws with the cool name you came up with), but are any color variations planned? I'd prefer the original Holo blue if given the choice. Still, this looks very promising and I'll be playing around with it soon!

Yeah, I was thinking about making a original blue variation. After I switched to red, I couldn't look at ics blue without hurting my eyes though, lol! We will see if I have some spare time in the future.

I am glad to see that you are working on gingerbread roms. I am holding out on GB and really like to see active development taking place on GB. Although I would like to see a CMW package of this rom. It just seems like it would be a good rom to use on any 4.0. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I figured I had been around the Galaxy Player scene since day one, so it was about time I made a rom, lol!

Well, actually less than stock since I fixed the flipped camera bug and black notification text bug, lol! The only minor issue is since I changed the buttons to white text on dark background, and some apps use their own button text parameters, some buttons in apps will be black text on dark background, making it a little hard to read.

Currently I haven't done much concerning individual apps, but I may work on those now that I have all the framework themed. For what it's worth, even though I haven't actually worked on most apps, many ui elements in them are ics-themed just from me theming the framework.

Downloaded with no problems. Booted right up. Tried the default installation and got Siyah. Tried doing custom and still got Siyah. No where to change to Fluxxi. Should I try downloading the rom again? Siyah hates my phone for some reason. But Ill give this a shot for a few days. This seems to be fast!! Which I really like.

I'm assuming this means u wiped system and ran the kernel cleaning script? That may help depending on what u were running previously.

sorry i didn't take the time to try and figure out geting fluxi in there too since i just use siyah... i'll look into it today after work. siyah is the only one i included for now. you can still flash fluxi, just ya know, like usual after the install.. ha.

ha, glad you like it too. that's why i decided to share, its pretty slick. nothing against fluxi, but it didn't feel as smooth as siyah when i ran it with aokp b38. so i just didn't include it... ha.

It is a Touchwiz/Samsung based rom, so yes it supports S-Pen.

Not at this time but that can easily be done with script manager there is a youtube video on how to and download for it. I will find it and post it for you guys with big sd cards.

So I'm doing another download now but wanted to mention that after a full wipe and md5 match, my first install attempt failed.
Gonna give it another go in a few minutes but didn't know if anyone else had an issue?

I have not updated to the new twrp yet and it has never failed once. Not on any of the test builds also. Still using 2.3.3.2 twrp here and all is fine.

Thanks, I just updated twrp last night and this is my first flash attempt since. So that could be the problem.
Ya I would revert back your twrp and try again. Thats why I always wait for a few days or so when twrp updates and see what users have to say about it. This version is working great.

Quick question. Would it be safe to restore apps and data with TI backup Pro (from Beans B6)? I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that as long as it's the same build (AOSP or TW) that restoring with TI backup shouldn't be an issue.

As long as you're only restoring user apps with data you shouldn't have any issues, but if something strange happens i would blame that first.

Um, that's because it's based on stock...
Adding things from AOKP. AOSP requires editing tons of smali and xml files in the framework.

I advise to flash it It's Google Play Store but with inverted colors (black background instead of white) and a nice blueish UI. It matches perfectly our AMOLED screen!

OTA installation
Download update through OTA updater app
Reboot into recovery and flash rom. This will start up AROMA installer.
Select a language > Select installer theme > Accept licence etc. > Install > Custom > Select kernel and bootanimation > Install
Once the install has finished, untick the reboot option and press finish. Then flash GApps
Flash transparency mods if you want
Reboot
Coming from CM10.1:
Download rom and reboot into recovery
Flash in recovery
Flash INTL kernel (Only if required!)
Flash the latest GApps
Flash transparency mods if you want
Reboot
Coming from other roms:
Download rom and reboot into recovery
If you're coming from GB, flash an ICS rom first
Wipe /data, /system, /dbdata, /cache and dalvik-cache

I'm really liking this ROM. It just looks great (the charge animation on the icon battery is one of my favorite things). Everything seems to be working perfectly right now, but I noticed that flashing the rear camera fix de-themes the camera app. Maybe you could modify the patch or bake it into the ROM itself?
Also, some feature requests: multiwindow or halo from PA

I haven't tested the camera fix myself so I didn't bake it into the rom, but I'll include it in future versions seeing as it does actually work.
I'll have a look at the multiwindow thing, but it would require a lot of work so I'll have to wait until my exams finish in late June to work on this.
Halo from PA only works on PA as it requires the PA framework to work so that's a definite no unfortunately. Maybe over the summer I'll have enough time to work on PA3+, but it's unlikely
S voice opens, but has network connectivity issues and FC's whenever you try to access its settings menu. These issues were present in S Voice from the SIII when it launched last year, so someone is likely to find a fix. All the fix did was trick S Voice into thinking the device was an SIII so it might be just as simple this time around
If I could port the S4 lockscreen I would, but I'm just not skilled enough to do so. My team has some pretty hard hitting devs so I'll ask them if they can help, but it is quite complicated. It's similar enough to the SIII lockscreen, but afaik, no one succeeded in fully porting that over to other devices. I'll see if I can get a cut-down implementation working though, but I'm not promising anything
quick note: if you need to have the MicroSD mounted as sdcard and internal as emmc, you can just comment out ro.vold.switchablepair=/storage/sdcard0,/storage/sdcard1
in build.prop
unfortunately, I have to re-download my music library from Google Play now :/

I'm really sorry about that. I was using a fairly ugly vold workaround from back in the ICS days, but I'll revert it in the next version. I think I found an easier way to implement it. Well it's easier to explain to people who might get confused
The lockscreen is actually based off this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267029 so I reckon it could work. It's just a modified framework-res so if it doesn't work, just reflash the rom to revert it

The modification is fairly ugly, but it works to some extent. I might ask the developer if I could use his work just to refine it a bit, but I won't be able to do that for a while

I was wondering even if you cannot port the S4 Lock screen, is it possible to just port the "Life Companion" clock widget on the lock screen, as Samsung still sort of relied on the widget framework found on 4.2 Lock screen. Or does that widget only work on S4 4.2 ROM?

It should be easy to port it across as it is just a lock screen widget. If it's not possible, it might be possible to have the text 'life companion' on the lock screen above the clock widget to achieve a similar effect

Probably. It's just a normal widget but there must be something in a config file thats preventing trebuchet from seeing it. If it works on Apex, I might include that instead of Trebuchet because I find it to be much smoother and more customisable

Transparent Status Bar mods

Flashing instructions are provided when you follow the link. You will need to flash the mod every time you flash the rom as I will not be baking it into the rom
Changing the DPI prevents the device from booting. I get stuck before the bootscreen.
