great bro..:good:
i just want to know..it's that ok if i clear the dalvic cache via cwm?
all i know if the dalvic cache move to sdext..you can't clear the dalvic via cwm..cmiiw..
Proud to be Indonesian..

so basicly what this does?oO
and you werent quite clear on your tutorial how to do it... seems a bit complicated...
Go to Settings
uncheck all options > settings, phone settings or link2sd settings? And wich settings are you refering -.-

AngelusPT,
Link2sd settings,. Sorry

edit: cancel it

Thanks for the info...I will try this on my S5830 with Jellaxy 10.1, I am having problem with Link2SD and free space in /data because only apps linked to /sdext have its dalvik-cache linked too.
UPDATE: I 've messed up my phone , but I had many applications already installed. I will try after a fresh install

I've try this trick. awesome, csn reduce my internal memori use extremely. But problem shown when I'm installed new app and linked it, it always got force close. Is there something wrong?
P.S. sorry for my bad english
Sent from my HS-E910 using xda app-developers app

@sihung, you don't need to link your app.

Can I use this on S5830i???
And i already have 150 apps linked do can I use this???
But I don't wanna unlink or delete them
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda premium

I think you can use it on S530i.
You can try this tutorial in a fresh phone.

What makes this "extreme" exactly?.. Links2SD is Links2SD and has been around for quite some time. It should work on all custom kernels without issues (won't work on stock roms). Fresh installs are the better choice as link2SD decides what is best for the app automatically.
There is another thread in the dev section which explains properly how to set this up.
Great app btw..

I wonder what was the experience of the earlier users as they didnt mention the results/experience with this trick. I would try this and post the results by tomorrow probably

Works grt.. Thanks for the guide...Cheers !! :good:
Maybe you missed to include one step in the guide,
Step 6: while uncheking all options under Link2DS settings > under Native Apps2sd sttings..choose install location as internal..
Hope it helps !!

good job!
i'm using this now.works great!it is easy to do.but if you're new to android, you will be confuse with the tutorial.
to make things clear,if you ever heard of "app2sd" or "S2E",the idea is just the same.it is just manually mounting sdext2 as the default install location.we just just have to take advantage of the script created by the link2sd app.
this will work on stock or custom rom that has init.d.and you don't have to manually link apps using libk2sd app.the system will decide where to install.after you done this,link2sd app will be useless.

Where is that "init.d" be found?
And what particular root explorer app that has so called "linking" capability?

it's in system/etc/init.d.your rom should have init.d support.if your on stock rom,try the init.d enabler via terminal emulator, via cwm,or via app.i think you will have that option in root explorer if you have installed the link2sd.

Request for some apps file

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

I got those APKs from the list you have posted.
And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back
thanks!

You just push them to the /system/app/ folder and reboot - that's all a recovery zip would do.
Thx Guys!!!!
My finally method was reflash the official rom..... that nearlly kill me as i have to reorder the application icon which take me an hour to finish that....
I don know how to use the recovery method but hope this post would help others who face the same problems.
Btw is there any apps to backup the order of icon in Application page? Rearranging them again is damn horrible if u got tons of apps......

[Q] System Rom

i rooted my phone and install cm9 then i want to move all my internal stuff into my system rom but is already 6mb out of 200mb how do i clean it up?
Use titanium backup
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
using it
i want to know that format system in recovery formats the internal or system rom.
Cause the first time i use titanium backup i move everything on the rom on the stock version then i keep on doing that cause my phone goes bricked cause of uninstalling the wrong things that causes my phone. Then i finally got it running but somehow i use every format in the recovery and did factory reset then system rom still did not increase the size?
Remove the unnecessary apps from the rom using titanium backup or link2sd.....or replace the high memory consuming apps with other alternatives...like trebuchet with zeam....etc.
System Rom
I free system rom in the following way:
1) Remove apps like All live wallpaper,Gtalk, text to speech etc.which i don't use.But don't delete "live wallpaper picker".
2) Go to root/system/media/audio by using root explorer or else and mount r/w.Delete heavy sized ringtones,Notifications etc. upto 50kb.
Can try this. I m managing ICS this way.Other suggestions are most welcome!!

[Q] BMM Standard System choice?

Hey guys!
Have been running BMM a while now without any issues, and my phone has been running great on 4.1.2. Yesterday I installed AOKP 4.2.2, and the ROM itself works perfectly fine, but if I reboot my phone it always goes to System1. My AOKP is on System2.
This isnt that big of an issue, as I'll just use BMM to reboot to system2 (And lets be honest, how often do we actually turn our phones off..?) But nevertheless I'd like to have it boot straight to System2. I'm quite familiar with BMM, but can't seem to find a setting for this. I only find the reboot option to reboot to System2 out of recovery, and to switch to System2. What I want is to set which system it automatically boots to.
Can anyone give me a pointer to how I'd do this?
Thanks ahead of time to this great community!
I myself am having problems with BMM too. It is not as easy as SS3. Well at least for me I cannot delete the system 2 which I opened for another rom . Do you know how can I do that?
Hm, I don't know how you can delete it, or even if you can. What would be the purpose of deleting it? It wont be in the way or anything afaik.
Just Wanted to know if there is a way to do it. I searched it a lot. And the last time I deleted my internal storage :/ a good cleaning isn't it

In the app that you install in the system (Boot Menu Manager) you can choose the default system to boot. It's on the first page of the manager.
Do'h! It never occured to me to check in the app, just in the recovery.. Thanks a lot, that solved my problem!
Glad to be helpful :]

you cannot delete system 2 since this is webtop partition and is made by motorola.
this was needed by GB. from ICS and above this feature is into the first system itself
therefore, activate it and flash a rom into it. SS cannot do that, it takes space from internal memory only
Going off topic - what's the size of your bmm nandroid (DUP) backup? I got somewhere near 680KB for a full backup!

Hello again,
Firstly look into general / development section for ftfs! Make sure you pick up a generic version according to your phone model!
Secondly , use the guide mentioned by a user above to flash ftf file.
Only backup user apps in titanium back !
Go to titanium ,then options , then clear dalvik! See if that helps!
Also remove thumbnails folder in DCIM from your phone using a file explorer.
You can also use SD maid from Google play store to clear cache / unnecessary files by corpsefinder and systemcleaner in SD maid menu. This will automatically remove thumbnails cache!
Good luck

Sus will do it officially with latest firmware of your region only while flashtool with give you more control over which ftf to flash/version/components !

External SD Card Write Access

Stock kitkat will require root for apps to have write access to your external sd card. If you're rooted or plan on rooting this app here will simplify the fix for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
This is not an lg bug, but a horrible choice on Googles part that will probably change in Android L....
That app works great or you can manually do it yourself (if you fear apps) by:
Open file:
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
Then add this to the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE section.=:

Tapatalk is not displaying the line that must be added correctly and I can't seem to edit it in a way that it does...sorry, just view it in a browser
I had to install FolderMount to fix my sdcard in order for TIBU to work.
My sdcard came from my Note II tho.
No need to setup FolderMount, just let it fix permissions, then you can uninstall it.
Thanks for posting, I forgot all about this. I was able to restore from titanium but I did notice when I was selecting my titanium backup folder on the SD card that it said it was not a writable folder.

Yeah, no problem. Figured it would help some people out, especially if coming from a phone without an external slot and didn't know this was even an issue. Just reboot after applying the fix using the app or manually for it to take affect.

Fyi, folder mount does not do the same thing as what I posted, it's a temp fix solution for a different problem that happens to work in your situation. It does not permanently edit the file in the system. Run what I posted and you won't need to run folder mount for simple write access.
The good news is L apparently re-allows card writes, but the bad news is ART is required and sucks up 25% more storage space. You also need about 1GB more free space than Dalvik for ART to be the most stable.
16GG devices are becoming very 8GB now.

Oh yea of little faith....
Like I said, if FolderMount detects a problem with permissions, it'll offer to fix them, then you can uninstall the program.
I have the same permissions you listed at the top, except I installed FolderMount, ran it once, then uninstalled it. The program is intended to do other things, but it also will fix the permissions for you. We used to run it for a pre-rooted 4.4 stock rom for the Note II.
Running FolderMount is a LOT easier for people that may not want to edit a permissions file.

I played around with that app after you mentioned it before.... Good find, and I stand corrected [emoji106]. I thought it ran a script to temporarily fix instead of actually inserting/editing system files, which does not appear to be the case.

Does the xml fix work for Lollipop 5.0.1? I am on VZW VS98523C Stock One Click Root, thanks to @avicohh, and custom recovery installed (the easy way)TWRP 2.8.6.1, thanks to @bender_007. Thank you @annoyingduck for the work that you have done with LG G3, ASOP and making available on XDA!
Nevermind, I rebooted after making the xml fix and now I have write capabilities to the ext SD on my LG G3! Thanks again @annoyingduck for showing us the way.
