[Q] GPU Overclock? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Is there any method by which we can overclock ONLY the GPU? I know how to OC the CPU, but have not heard anything of overclocking the GPU as of yet.
My phone is a T-Mobile P769.

For now no. But it's possible.

Curses. Thanks anyways, though.

Why is it not possible for now?

Someone will need to modify and recompile the video kernel module. This requires a developer who knows how to do it.
Also, most likely an overclock will not give better performance unless the internal bus between the video core and the ARM core(Which are on the same chip) can be overclocked.

Hey guys I was over at the sgs2 forum and saw some threads about this. I'm a frequent gamer and would love to increase graphical performance

You will need a custom kernel.
If you look in the dev section there are loads to choose from.
Also, the dev of your rom (If you are on a custom one) will probably recomend one.

I think he is talking about GPU overclock, not CPU overclock.
Overclocking a GPU will often yield a marked increase in performance in synthetic benchmarks, and usually will improve gaming performance too.

There is a generic thread about it here, but other than that I don't know if and what can be done on X10.

Yes I know very much about CPU overclock. But I'm talking about the graphic processing unit. For gaming. If we overclock that our gaming goes up. And also I always have my phone overclocked no matter what

gpu performance is related to cpu one..so CPU overclock increase gpu performance! this is the way!

I realize that but there has to be a way to overclock the gpu by itself.

The thread I posted is about GPU overclocking, take a look!
The OP says that after research, he found out that GPU overclock is not possible in Adreno powered devices.
So, I guess the answer is no.
Yeah I read your link. I hope we can possibly come up with something though

Well if u look in all other forums from devices that uses adreno GPU, not even one of them is overclocked...
So I guess the answer is NO... sorry...
TIP: sell ur lil bro and get a SGS2 LOL.. I assure you its worth it
i want it too...
even my systers n600`s benchmark is better than my x10...

How do you Overclock both cores on a CM7 Touchpad?

I have CM7 XRonified running on my Touchpad, but I'd like to overclock it to 1.6 or 1.7Ghz, but I cannot find any info on how to do this successfully to BOTH cores. Overclocking using the webOS Overclocking instructions does not carry over to CM7.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Bump, and thank you again in advance.
Doesn't setcpu do both cores?
Does it? I don't think it does.

Please don't bump your post less than an hour after you posted it.
My apologies about the bump. I'll try out SetCPU. How do I verify what both my cores are running at?
how to check both cores are running overclock, using antutu here. thanks.
Use CPU tuner
I really think setcpu would do the trick.

setcpuseems to work fine. The new min/max values show up in cm7-settings/performance too.
Quadrant Standard scores for me on 3.5α

Yes it's made for 1-1,2GHz, but you need a custom kernel. The thing I would like to see more than overclocking are some more governors and schedulers.
The overclocking will gets more power from the battery or ?
[sorry for my bad english, I hope someone understand me ]
we need someone to create a custom kernel for our phone. without custom kernel, we cant overclock our phone.
but i dont see any reason yet to overclock, the current frequency are fast enough for me even for gaming. unless you have a very slow phone, 1ghz single core processor and below it would be good.
i used to overclock a lot on my single core processor phone from 1ghz to 1.2-1.8ghz frequency. of course the higher frequency you're on the more risk you are gonna damage the cpu of your phone and battery because of overheat. from 1ghz, overclocking to 1.2-1.4ghz is safe.
underclocking would be a smart idea though to save battery.
the main reason custom kernel are needed for me are to use some governors and schedulers to save battery or performance.
Thanks guys! Oh, and could someone explain or post a link to a guide on overclocking?

I checked qualcomms chipsets ours can be.over clocked to 1.4ghz quad only if someone builds a custom kernel
Why need to overclock ??? And as much as I know overclocking heat up device more and also may cause downgrade the lifespan of cpu

HTC One X+ and SetCPU

Hi guys,
I wanted to ask you to share your settings to save your battery life.
(If you are using SetCPU)

I'm not sure if this actually increases battery life. Android uses as much CPU as it needs. Lowering the CPU may result more lag.
If you want to save battery, make sure your phone likes going into deep sleep .
I change the CPU governor to 'INTERACTIVE', that is good to me

Yes it works with HOX+, I have been reducing the frequence of the CPU to 500mhz and my phone was getting laggy. So I suppose its working, this was on the stock ROM though and the Android Revolutionaire HD ROM.

Why would you overclock a 1.7GHz Quad-Core? Everyone who is doing that is probably a retard, no offence though. Since there is no reason tot overclock it, even though it's not the fastest one around anymore.

The app is called "Tegra Overclock" (although it doesn't allow OC). It's just some app for changing cpu related settings.
