[Port][App]Note 2 Stock email - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Themes and Apps

Hello!
This is "Ported" the Stock Email app from Galaxy Note2
Work only on JB Samsung based Roms!
1)-Make Backup of your stock SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk
2)- Download the 'Email_note2-apk' file linked below.(THIS IS NOT A FLASHBLE ZIP.
The apk files were just too big for XDA's upload limit and so I had to zip them up and host them online.)
Once downloaded,
3)- unzip and grab out the 2 apk files inside (SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk)
4)- Mount your phone's system as R/W (either using Root Explorer or 'adb remount')
5)- Copy the newly downloaded SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk files to system/app/ via root explorer and overwrite the older file if/when it asks,
or you can just push the files to system/app via adb.
6)- Set permissions on both apks as rw-r--r--
7)-Reboot

Thank you, working now...:good:

The trick
Force closed to me at first... Solution: Reboot, clear cache (settings, applications, all, clear cache and storage) then reboot and off you go! Try only clearing cache first, I didn't have the patience so had to setup account again

[HOWTO] Make a skin for your tattoo.

Hi,
This is a tutorial to explain how to make a theme with some APKs modified.
Note : This HOWTO is for people who have a minimum knowledge in informatic, i will not answer to questions like "what's a CMD?" etc.
FACULTATIVE STEP
The first thing we have to do, it's set up a working folder, this will help you to make your theme easily
Create a folder "Skin blabla", like you want.
After, create 3 folders like this screen :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
We will make a backup of ALL APKs of your tattoo (if you do a wrong modification & you brick), make a copy of this backup into "Modded APKs" (there will be the modified APKs), and "Decompressed" will be the folder which has all PNGs.
SOME EXPLICATIONS
The only risk is Android, all APKs which are using on android have to be signed, if one of your APKs isn't signed, you will semi-brick your Tattoo and have to go on recovery and push the original APK.
Note : You have to have (woh) a custom recovery, if you don't and you semi-brick your tattoo, the only way to restart it is the GOLDCARD.
So, the only way to keep your APK signed is to use the drag&drop.
FIRST STEP : Backup
Connect your device. (with USB debug)
Open a CMD.
(We say your skin's folder is on c:\Skin to make it simple, if you choose an other destination, change what i have writed after)
adb shell pull /system/app/*.apk "c:\Skin\Original APK"
adb shell pull /system/framework/*.apk "c:\Skin\Original APK"
copy "c:\Skin\Original APK\*.apk" "c:\Skin\Modded APK"
You can delete the APKs you will never modify on Modded.
It's finished, we can start
SECOND STEP : Drag & Drop
I'm using WinRAR.
Like i said before, we have to keep our APKs signed.
Select which APKs you want to modify of "Modded" folder, right click, and select "extract...".
Select "Decompressed" folder, and extract all APKs.
You will have many folders with the name of which APK. (Rosie, framework-res, etc etc)
Modify all PNGs you want to modify on which folder. (Note : All images are on res/drawable*)
Then, return on modded folder, open which APKs you modified on the other folder, and open framework-res.apk for example, let the APK open with WinRAR. Open "Decompressed"s folder, select some folders/PNGs you have modified (we will select "drawable" for example), drag&drop it in WinRAR. (of course, you have to be on /res folder in winRAR, the folder have to match...)
Copy the modified APK with : adb push blabla.apk /system/originaldirectoryoftheapk
Some advices
- All notifications icons are on framework-res.apk & com.htc.resources.apk.
- The only APKs which are on /system/framework/ are the both APKs one line before. All others are on /system/app/.
- Rosie.apk is HTC Sense.
- Some notifications icons are on Calendar.apk (1), HtcContacts.apk (1), HtcLocationService.apk (1), HtcMusic.apk (2+), HtcTwitter.apk (1), Mail.apk (1), Mms.apk (1+), Talk.apk (1).
- If you modify Rosie.apk, or some others APKs, Sense will be strange, wait or reboot the device.
- ...
Hi JoOoSs
I have modified Browser.apk, but when I try
Code:
adb push Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk
I receive the next message:
Code:
failed to copy 'Browser.apk' to '/system/app/Browser.apk': Out of memory
Also, before this I was receiving this message:
Code:
failed to copy 'Browser.apk' to '/system/app/Browser.apk': Directory not empty
Any ideas about what could be the problem?
Thanks!
It's a problem with your ROM.
Modaco ? Fyodor ? Stock ?
I have the MoDaCo ROM, the weird thing is that yesterday I installed your Black skin, and today I tried to do it again and have the above errors.
At each reboot you have to do:
adb shell
insmod /system/lib/modules/tattoo-hack.ko
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system

Actually, I did it.
I've noticed something really weird. I flashed a fresh ROM (MoDaCo), then I pushed your files (from Black Skin) and some mine, everything worked perfect. But, later, when I try to push another file (yours or mine), I get this error:
Code:
adb push WorldClock.apk /system/app/WorldClock.apk
failed to copy 'WorldClock.apk' to '/system/app/WorldClock.apk': Directory not empty
I don't know what is happening
I think you lose the RW when you exit your CMD, did you retry to mount /system ?
If it's yes, i don't know it works in my Modaco Oo
Thanks JoOoSs
I don't know why this was happening, but I installed the stock ROM and everything works perfect know! Regards!
It would be nice to have default android skin on our tattoo. Do you think is it possible?
Yep, you have to flash 2.1 ROM which is on Dev forum, backup all PNG from his ROM & re-insert them on an other ROM.

Actually, you don't need to flash the 2.1 rom, remember that is a .zip, so just extract the apps from /system/app directory and then extract the pngs...
In the zip there are only the *.img ?
We have to uncompress boot.img etc it's more long!
So...what we could do to have a default 2.1 lock screen and skin and nothing else?
Please help us poor noobs

Not really, I downloaded the update.zip file from the 2.1, and it doesn't have .img files... I've changed all my apps icons using the 2.1 version.
Is there anyone that can answer to my ask?

Hi, actually, change all the skin and the lock screen is going to be almost impossible, I changed all the main apps icons, but the skin itself is more complex, we have to go through all system APKs and find the png files related with the skin, but even doing that the change is complex.
This is how my icons looks like:
Can you upload icons & the wallpaper ?
yes, wallpaper please
Thank you arturo
I'd like also the only white bar rather than black
APKs with eclair icons and wallpaper
Hello all,
Here are the modified apk files with the eclair icons and also a nice wallpaper.
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before replace the apk files (we never know ).

Veronica,
Are there are benefits to using Root Explorer over other file managers like ES File Explorer? If I remember correctly, Root Explorer was a paid app, so I ended up just getting ES, haha.
I seem to be managing fine with ES and haven't had any permissions problems after doing a good bit of fooling around with system apps and such. Just wondering if there's anything better about Root Explorer. Thanks.

Well the only benefit so far is that you can change owner with RT, ES file explorer doesn't have that function that is needed for fixes of files (ex. adhoc wifi fix), or hacks in apps that sometimes moving them to /system/app is not enough and you need to change owner.
~ Veronica
Also, in messing with ES a bit, it seems to just allow you access to your SD card...unless I'm missing something.
All in all, I'd recommend Root Explorer just for mult-select alone.

do you root explorer enabled in the settings for es file explorer? you need to enable that in order to make the /system folder writable. once that is enabled you should have no problems copying apk's to your /system folder.

Hi. I need to change permissions for the skype app located in /data/app. The problem is, when I go into root explorer, there's nothing in the data folder.
If I use es explorer, I can open the folder and I can find the file I'm looking for, but it's nowhere in root explorer . Is there a way I can change permissions using es explorer? Or some way I can access the file in root explorer?

Want to move launcher2 to system app, am using es explorer with root
Apologies if I'm being thick-headed, but I've been attempting to change my rooted Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4's efs/carrier/hiddenmenu file from "OFF" to "ON" and simply cannot get it to take. I am rooted, Root Explorer notes that it has been granted SU permission (status?) when I fire it up, and I've got it mounted R/W. I can open this HiddneMenu file in a Text Editor and change OFF to ON, but when I select Save or Save & Exit, and then open it back up, it continues to read "OFF". I've fooled around with changing the permissions on this file already- I've added "Write" permission to both "Group" and "Others" but that isn't helping. What am I missing? I'm running 4.4.2 if that makes a difference...? Thanks for your thoughts.
Parasol is a new app trying to solve the permission problem, especially in Android M.

[MOD] DSPManager for HTC One X+ [rooted] + AROMA flashable zip

Hi everybody,
I went to share with you this bass booster app that I had tested in my HOX+ rooted and international edition, and it worked perfectly with the stock music player and with other 3rd party player.
NOTE : "I DIDN'T MAKE THIS APP BUT IT IS PART OF THE CyanogenMod, so all the credit with a very special thanks to the CyanogenMod teams".
UPDATE: Here is a Flashable zip with AROMA (thanks to hukel56):
https://www.box.com/s/c2l52ej6cp408ibj9z56.
So what I really did in this mod was delete a file and did a little change to ported perfectly with our HOX+ devices without FC in the app or the players.
1. Must have a "root explorer" or any explorer that have root capabilities.
2. Copy DSPManager.apk
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gyp0mbie5tl5w29/DSPManager.apk
to system/app and set the permissions to 644 (rw-r-r--).
3. Copy libcyanogen-dsp.so
https://www.dropbox.com/s/h06u3jyrop5p19r/libcyanogen-dsp.so
to system/lib/soundfx and set permissions to 644 (rw-r-r--).
4. Copy audio_effects.conf
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wa2bffbzlu6fg9p/audio_effects.conf
to system/vendor/etc (if there is no etc folder there create it and set the folder permissions to 755 (rwxr-xr-x) then set the permissions of the conf file to 644 (rw-r-r--)).
5. Reboot to recovery, then wipe dalvik caches the reboot.
6. Enjoy the boost sound.

P.S I went some AT&T HOX+ or any other variant to test it and confirmed that it worked without FC (specially when change the preset or use a custom preset)
Thanks.
Finally very speciall thanks to CyanogenMod Teams and treebill.
please i'm very sorry and correct me if I forget someone that I must give the credit to.
Edit: this zip contains all the files above for those they have problems in downloading .conf file:

And this is the flashed zip file for dsp manager (all credits to treebill and cyanogenmod teams)

this is awesome.. thanks a lot for sharing.. i just wanted this from a long time.. using Sense 4 on my HTC explorer.. and this works perfeclty.. great music
will test it in a minute.
for now: the conf-file has suffix .txt in your dropbox.
Update: Installed everything as in the manual, no effect at all. I can start DSP Manager and change settings but nothing happens (using PowerAmp, EQ in PowerAmp off as well as BEATS off). Tested with wired headset only.

Hi
You can change the suffix .txt to .conf and used it like the description in the OP above.
Or download this zip file (which contains all the files above):
https://www.box.com/shared/7251dziyoqbe5goparxv.
And for your problem, are you put all the files in the exact locations with changing their permissions.
And if you went to test it you can play a song with headset or with device speakers, then go to dsp manager and activate the corresponding then change the EQs so you will hear the different.
Thanks

Exactly what I did, but no difference in sound no matter what settings I changed.
Whenever I change a setting it force closes and as soon as I open the music app it stops launching at all and immediately force closes not even allowing me to access the app. I am running the latest insertcoin rom for the regular international model what is the problem?

Hello
FC the app after changing in setting means that there is problems in permissions or you didn't put the lib file in the right place.
So now try to delete the 3 files (because they are addin to the system files not replacing any original system files), then reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik cashe then reboot, then repeat the steps in 1st OP exactly, reboot and see if there is always FC or not.
And another things: can you listing me the names of libs in your system/lib/soundfx folder to compared it with my folder.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply,
Ok, can you do for me one last thing:
1. You must backup your original "system/etc/audio_effects.conf".
2. Download this zip file and extract the modified "audio_effects.conf".

Flashed with recovery but you must do nandroid backup before.
So if the FC always present so i think the problem in your files system not in dsp manager files because i tested it in 3 different HOX+ int'l.
Good luck, and sorry if i don't have another solutions for your problem.
Thanks

HOW TO MAKE THE MOD
Take the following files from your ROM
PHP:
system/app/SecTelephonyProvider.apk
/system/framework/framework2.jar (make sure it's framework2.jar)
Decompile both the files!
1. Now navigate to /smali/com/google/android in fraemwork2.jar and delete the entire mms folder
2. Extract the copy of mms from here and copy the folder to /smali/com/google/android in framework2.jar
3. Now navigate to \sectelephonyprovider\smali\com\android\providers\telephony and replace the following files with the zip attached
PHP:
MmsProvider.smali
MmsSmsDatabaseHelper$LowStorageMonitor.smali
MmsSmsDatabaseHelper.smali
MmsSmsProvider.smali
SmsProvider.smali
4. Recompile framework2.jar and SecTelephonyProvider.apk
5. copy the mms.apk , SecTelephonyProvider.apk in system/app and change the permissions to rw--r--
6. copy the framework2.jar in system/framework and change the permissions to rw--r--
Note
-----------
on your device navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and delete following files if you have in order to MMS work
This will delete the entire SMS & MMS, so take a backup before you delete
PHP:
mmssms.db
mmssms.db-shm
mmssms.db-wal
Excellent......
Nice work ...
Email addresses
does this MMS apk have the option to show contact's email addresses?
Thanks men !!!! Good work...
Many thanks ! How about an inverted apk with the same possibilities ? Aka quick reply ans so on.
Great work !
Excellent work!
Just one small thing; Notification during call doesn't seem to work. However, my gf, who is also running AOSP MMS on her S2 has the same problem. So it's probably not this specific mod that causes the problem.

Have made the same but in a little bit simplier way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36780090&postcount=6805
Why you change anything except SecMms.apk? Is there something not working without modified sectelephonyprovider.apk and framework2.jar? I'm just wondering because I havent found anything but perhaps I'm not using all possibilities of sms/mms
Just found that my option gives FC when trying send MMS Will try your method later today!

in order to make MMS work, you need to infuse the code of CM10.1 or else, whenever you try to send MMS, the app will look for code in sectelephony and also framework2.jar which is not available (i mean it will have a code of sammy instead of CM10). Hence i need to follow the above said procedure!

I don't know if I understood well but I tried to put the inverted mms apk inverted from 200mpx with the instructions of this thread (aka putting the sectelephony and framework.jar) and mms still didn't work, any idea ? Maybe you will be able to make the inverted apk compatible with your topic ? Thank you for your work !
Thanks my dear friend !!

Are you planning to port more AOSP apps to TW?
Maybe someday we will have a rom with Samsung features and stability, and AOSP look (as Chamelon for the SGS2. Or MIUI for our Note 2)
Does this work on gs3
Edit--------------------
Installed and wouldn't boot. Reverted to backup. Oh well

Makes sense. I really want this so I am starting to follow your instructions to build it for my GS3. The only problem is one of the resources in the OP says is no longer available for violation of terms of services "2. Extract the copy of mms from here and copy the folder to /smali/com/google/android in framework2.jar" Can I get a copy of that so I can compile this ? BTW thank you for such a detailed instruction

in order to make a inverted mms, you need to do the themeing, changing colors and also changing the hex codes in styles.xml...it is nothing to do with the smali files..

I think you did not understand what we are asking - could you please modify this mms apk (see attached) to use it instead of your stock CM apk in your method of secmms replacement? It is already modded to be inverted (black theme) and have themes settings.
Thank you in advance!

[MOD][JB][XT925] The Droid HD Bootanimation now FULL screen 720p!!! (For ROOT users)

Hey all! :laugh: A friend of mine found the most amazing Boot animation while browsing for themes for his RAZR HD, and he sent me the file and once I saw it running in my XT925 I just knew I needed to share this with you all. :highfive:
Here we have the Droid Bootanimation, only this time it´s full screen on our 720P RAZR HD screens! Here´s the sample, a bit shortened on the beginning and end for this preview´s purposes:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This animation was taken from the Razr M I´m told, but I just know that it fills our screens perfectly and that makes it good enough by far for me, even if it wasn´t originally meant to run on our phones . Now to install, and please remember that YOUR PHONE NEEDS TO BE ROOTED for this to work:
1.- Download both of the files that are attached to this post to your computer.
2.- Once both these downloaded files are in your computer, unzip the droidsm.ogg.zip file and extract the droidsm.ogg file inside it and put it together in the same place or folder with the bootanimation.zip file. At this point you can delete the zip that contained the ogg file you extracted and just keep the bootanimation zip and the ogg file in the same folder in your computer
3.- Copy both the downloaded bootanimation.zip and the extracted droidsm.ogg files to a folder inside your phone.
4.- Using your preferred android File Manager (Root Browser, ES File Explorer, etc.) go to the folder System/Media of your phone. Within that folder, there should already be a file named bootanimation.zip that holds your current boot animation graphics. Rename that existing bootanimation.zip file to bootanimation.zip.bak, so you can easily go back to it later on if need be.
5.- Now still using the File Manager, go back to the folder inside your phone into which you copied the downloaded bootanimation.zip file and the extracted droidsm.ogg file from your computer, and either copy or move them both to the System/Media folder of your phone.
6.- Once the new bootanimation.zip file is in your phone´s System/Media folder, you NEED to change the file permissions for the bootanimation.zip to rw-r--r-- under the file´s properties (or 0644 if your file manager asks for the attributes code instead).
7.- Do the same permissions change for the droidsm.ogg file and set its permissions to rw-r--r-- too.
8.- Now with those changes made, you can exit your file manager, reboot your phone and just enjoy your new amazing Droid HD boot animation!!! :victory:
P.S.: If anything goes like it shouldn´t, just go back to the System/Media folder of your phone using your android File Manager of choice, and then delete both the bootanimation.zip file and the droidsm.ogg file that you previously copied in there. Then just rename the bootanimation.zip.bak that should still be there back to its original name before you changed it (by removing the .bak from the last part of the file´s name). Reboot and all should be as it was before .
Thank you, it works great, I just didn't put the sound file as I don't want to have sound at boot.
problem solved
found out my problem,
bY MISTAKE I ADDED THE ZIP FILE AND AFTERWARDS I edited as zip.bak instead of jus leaving it as zip
This cool feature worked on my razr and it looks cool as hell
thanks a lot
Looks and works great, thank you!
will this work on a XT926?

Nice find! Great having an hd boot animation.
i´m sad dot work to me on my xt925 ... the proble can be the cm 10.2?
nice
This works fine on my phone, I will try to reboot it more often from now on.
Thanks for sharing !!
PS: I didn't even change the file permissions and it works.
Thanks for sharing, any idea why I don't get any sound on my XT925? Animation plays fine..
I have absolutely no idea... I recently changed roms to KitKat from CyanogenMod (Cm 11) and I also lost the sound. While running stock Jelly Bean it worked flawlessly, that's about all I can tell you... :crying:

Interesting.. probably an audio codec issue.. when I copied the file from PC to Phone it told me, that the file might not be playable on the device..
(Which I usually ignore for my MP4 based audio collection)
xt926 working here. Did not change permission. Thanks a bunch

Well i tried every possible location in the system folder, every possible permissions variation, all sorts of changes to the zip file, the ogg file and/or the desc.txt and it was all to no avail, I still could not get a peep out of any bootnaimation I tried on CM11 no matter what.
