[Q] FM transmitter? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

i know that this phone has a FM receiver built in. The wifi chip is also supposed to just be for receiving, but we can do wifi tether. this makes me think it *may* be possible to transmit fm from the chip in the phone (from what i understand its built into the wifi chip). i know i can buy a fm transmitter, and i actually already have three of them, but it would be nice to not have any extra hardware if its not needed. i also know you can do bluetooth streaming and stuff, but it would be nice to stream through fm to devices that do not have bluetooth. so please dont tell me to go buy a real fm transmitter or do something else. if it is possible, please let me know. if not, just tell me that. thanks!

Not possible. It would be nice, but such is life

Also, there is another thread in this section regarding this. That thread is titled "fm transceiver"

haha. i am subscribed to this thread and i got the email notification on my phone. lol

It is possible. But no one has done it because no devs think it worth the effort. Personally I would love it, but not enough to learn to develope the necessary drivers.

Here's a link to a thread in the Evo 4g section regarding this topic.
There's some detailed info in there about antennas, fcc rules etc
Worth a read through if this topic interests you...
Edit: I guess it would help if I included the link lol

Someone try this and tell me if it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13379669 it kinda pricey for an app. But if it works it will be worth it. There is a link in the OP for a free version.

Hell it a receiver app, not a transmitter app. Sorry guys. But maybe he has the knowledge to do a transmitter app.

Do a play store app search for,"quick fm transmitter". It installs but doesnt work. It says the system is not supported. It does list the supported "sharp" systems. The good part is, the app is there; although it needs to be ported.
I also found that there are at least 6 HTC phones with the correct chip set. Those other phone users would also like an app for this.

Bluetooth GPS - Which one?

Hi altogether,
I want to buy a bluetooth GPS Mouse to use with my Wizard.
Actually I ogle with the CMJ-1000.
Has someone experiences with this one or can recommend me another one?
Should be not that expensive.
I want to use it in the car, while biking and walking/hiking.
Thanks in advance.

Search just a little please... this is a thread just a few down from your new one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295300 I personally have given up on recommending accessories as someone will always have a new/better/different suggestion. Read the thread, you'll see some ideas. Let us know what you end up doing so others can benefit.

Sorry, but I read this thread before I posted this one ;-). First, the thread is quite old and did not contain the information I am looking for.
Perhaps I didn't specify my question good enough. "This device xy works fine for me" doesn't help me, because I don't know the needs of the user who is posting.
Perhaps someone who knows, could give some information, which Specs are needed/recommended/needless to different usages.

Well... just about any BT GPS receiver will work, so look for the form factor that suits your needs. Buy a receiver that has at least a SiRF III chip. Here is a site that has a bunch of receivers http://www.usglobalsat.com/ I use the BT359, I drive, I walk, I use it biking but not while I am riding (electronics, biking, death...all too related ) Someone else suggested the iBlue 737 as seen here http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/articles.asp?id=175&page=5
Something you'll have to decide is whether you want data logging. That is useful if you are using the receiver without a live BT-phone connection.
Mostly you need to think about what mode you are going to use it in most frequently. For me, its the car (where I have power so I can overclock the phone), but I do use it elsewhere but it just "depends".

PS you could have added to the old thread and it would have "become new again".

[Q] Bluetooth 3.0..... So now what?

Other than ofcourse Wikipedia, which was hard to understand..my Google search results came up empty!
From what I've seen Galaxy S is th only phone with Bluetooth 3.0..
I'm just curious as to what this will bring to the table that other phones will not be able to...
I hope there are some nifty bluetooth gadgets in production for our vibrant!
faster data transfer through bluetooth.
You will be prevented from using the Ryan Frawley's Wiimote App! Congratulations on your bluetooth 3.0 phone!
(And to provide at least some helpful information, he has not responded to any questions about the galaxy s line, our future froyo update may fix this for us).
@PathogenX, Yes I knew that...
@SquareBare yes i'm also aware of that.. i'll just have to wait... i'm liking the multi touch control... which works perfectly so i don't mind waiting til froyo to see what happends ...
i guess i was looking to see if this will mean video streaming or something... i think i saw an article like that b4.. but can't remember
anyways Thank you both for ur fast replies ...!!
The SGS family is the only smartphones in the world (if i'm not mistaken) to have BT 3.0. Okay, the Samsung Wave had it first.

Well, more of the blame lies on samsung than Mr. Frawley.
I read somewhere on these forums that Samsung implemented the bluetooth standard in a somewhat bizarre way. Kind of like how you have to swap wires around when you are connecting the video cable to your TV.
From what I see though, Samsung has acknowledged the issue and will correct it with the upcoming froyo update.

Samsung gets the blame for using the latest technology? How does that work?
I read in a press release from January of last year that the two main features of 3.0 is faster transfer and better battery life. In addition there is suppose to be some security enhancements.
It uses 802.11 to transfer the files like wifi does to transfer files to and from you phone.
http://www.gsmarena.com/bluetooth_30_specs_revealed_goes_up_to_11_thanks_to_80211-news-885.php
This isn't the article that I found before but this is one from the source.
http://www.bluetooth.com/English/Press/Pages/PressReleasesDetail.aspx?ID=16
The article I seen explained the bt/wifi thing better and said that bt 4.0 should be out by the end of this year.

Any programmers have some time to burn?

I have googled the possibility and existences of an app that allows your phone to be used as an earpiece for your tablet/computer/ps3 but although i have found alot of interest in the topic, no one has an answer. so now i'm asking the great xda minds for their help. i will donate 20 dollars to working app that i can put on my tablet that allows my phone to take calls and be use as an "earpiece" for the tablet. i don't care if it's an app that turns the phone into an assessery or simply uses BT to transfer the voice data to the phone via two apps. my final goal is this:
have a tablet with my number/data plan
use tether to my phone/laptop
use phone to take/make calls on the lapdock
simply leave the tablet in my bag to use as a "cool" assessory but use the phone and laptop to do my work.
and, yes, i know i can use a BT earpiece as a replacment for for all this, but i hate something attached to my ear and i think that people talking to air is kinda goofy (i would say nerdy but this is obviously more nerdy ).
thanks for your time
this is NOT a question, this is a development request. please don't move to thread that developers won't read...
So essentially an a2dp app? Or... can't recall the protocol name. Starts with an H. Its like HVDO or something.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
Aha!!!??!!
So your Tablet is your Networked device, you tether a laptop for internet as-well as your phone......
This is because you only want to pay for one internet/calling network account i guess???
You'll find some interesting stuff on SourceForge.net essentially your windows laptop is capable of doing this, so i'm definite there is a linux version witch you can port to your Android device... And then simply code a nice GUI in Java......
Well Im studying atm so I can't help lol
It's HSP/HFP/AVRCP profiles for bluetooth.

[Q] SPiritfm settings?

Hi, i hope this question wasnt asked before, but i searched and i couldnt find such a question on this forum, but can someone tell me how should i set spiritfm to make it work for this device, cause i really like that radio app on other android phones and just cant get the right setings for this one, and i hope im not asking about something that is impossible, thanks in advance.
Only certain RHOD's have the FM modulator chip (I believe all GSM models, which you have a 100)
Because of this, I don't believe anyone has enabled the path for the FM modulator to even function/route audio. So I don't think it'll work without some kernel trickery. Good luck.
aah, thanks for the info, i was really hoping, cause omgb has a fm radio app that doesent work for me, and i was hoping i can get fm to work

7floor Sound Mod For MTCD

I ve discovered that the 7floor sound mod has been made to work on an RK3188 MTCD unit by @kumarai.
I ve searched all threads in this forum and it doesnt seem to be known amongst you MTCD guys (or even to have been mentioned), whereas over in the MTCB forums (the mod was developed for MTCB units) quite a few people have done it.
I thought it would be worth mentioning here.
What it does, basically is remove control of the sound processor from the MCU and give it to Android for a very worth while improvement in sound quality and more features.
It does require some soldering and there is a small difference in what has to be done to the software (see first pic) to get it to work on MTCD units. Cant say it will work on Sofia or PX5 units, but theres no reason to think it wouldnt or couldnt be made to work on them.
Here are some links :
@kumarai on youtube :

@7floor's original thread :

7floor's Xposed repo page (which now mentions MTCD units) :

thats very cool,
however does it get rid of the constant hiss sounds, and the noise generated when mcu is processing.

I ve got an MTCB/C unit and I never had those issues even with the MCU controlling the sound processor, so I dont know, if the sounds are caused by the MCU processing sound then maybe.
Software part?
Hello,
I'm very interested to perform this mod but I'm having couple of questions. The unit is now on my kitchen table and I have all the parts I need.
How does the software part go with MTCD unit, because we cannot install xposed framework?
For me This is the correct route(different from 7floor):
BD37 -26 SDA - R70(100ohm) - SDIN
BD37 - 25 SCL - R71(100ohm) - SCLK
I've read that older models have 1kohm resistance but I have 100ohm which should lower the interference "hiss/fuzz" sound. Sound is pretty good now but only bluetooth A2DP quality suck with iPhone and I'd hope this mod would improve it.

There are 4 different versions of MTCD units, you need to state which one you have
edit : I can see from your other post that you ahve 5.1.1, you CAN install Xposed (but you need to be rooted).
Installed xposed framework
Oh yes, my unit is running 5.1.1 Hal9k android with KSP MCU, RK3188 and 1 GB of RAM.
I managed to install the xposed framework successfully! :victory: Now I'm installing MTC sound app and after I have checked it out I will solder the wires. :fingers-crossed:
Any tips how to get those little Rs out safely, because my tweezers won't get a good hold of those?
I have Dasaita V600 model with PX5 system. I was wondering does anybody know is it possible to do a 7floor mod on this unit?

C'mon man.
Anyway I was able to perform the mod successfully, at least it seems that way. But I have not had the change to install the unit in a my car yet so I really don't know if any sound is actually coming out...
My tip for soldering. Add little extra solder to the old components before removing. That way you have little more time to warm up both ends.
Had to install the MTC sound 2.0.5. app to avoid UI error.

Does anyone have issues with Bluetooth? I tried to find more info from the original thread but didn’t find anything useful.
I have sound from radio and Spotify but Bluetooth calls won’t work. I can’t hear anything from the Bluetooth app and A2DP goes directly to calling screen.
How can I get the A2DP to work so I can stream from my phone?
Edit: No problems after all. Had to toggle gsm via android from the EQ and then calls work just fine. Then A2DP works only when using stock launcher. I find that weird.

Strange, you could try BT app that includes the A2DP function (as opposed to one that has a separate app for it) and see if that makes a difference . . . although youd have to go through all the ROMs to try and find one. What processor have you got ?
