[Q] Extended Battery Users? - HTC Rezound

Wife is loving the One XxX rom sense camera; (I would like to try other possibly lighter Sense Roms but that is a different story..) - Need a better AOSP camera..
Just not happy with the 1620 battery life.. (using snuzzo's kernel helped battery life greatly as well..)
(we're taking the train to NYC and CT for classes and battery life is sucking; already doing 3G cdma (prl auto))
Looking at extended batteries.. (or new phones - batteries are cheaper..)
Amazon has a Laza 3240 (currently about $25 with the back)
[Q] Does anyone have this? Assuming it works how's the added extra bulk and such?
[Q] And what then about a case/holster/"Otterbox" type thing? Suggestions?

I have the oem Verizon extended and I use it on days when I don't see a charger for lengthy periods. I leave it on auto brightness and 4G and I get close to 4 hours screen time. Sometimes more. I dislike the bulkiness and people do ask me what's up with my phone..Lol
I prefer the 1620 battery for slimness but sometimes you gotta humble yourself and get the extended.

I also bought the Verizon oem extended battery when I bought the phone--it was on sale for half price--$25. It is bulky but when you need the juice, it does the trick. I also purchased the extended battery holster that Verizon sells at the same time. The Verizon battery is 2750 but easily last all day.

I bought the extended battery from Amazon (2750mAH). I use it with an Otterbox Defender. Definitely an improvement over the stock battery, but nothing profound. The phone will last me approx. 8-10 hours with medium use (playing music during my 35-40 min commute each way, texting, occasional web browsing). Timeout 30 seconds, auto-brightness on. I also use Juice Defender Ultimate/Set CPU to help with my battery life though. The bulk of the extended battery and defender case is definitely noticeable, but I personally prefer a large phone. I like having some weight to what I'm holding. It can be a chore to get it out of pockets on tighter fitting pants, and the silicon back has a tendency to come unset from the screen protector. However, it's not enough for me to stop using it. I'd recommend getting it still -- it's better than having to replace a screen (a lesson I learned twice before buying one).

@OP and other people too
How long does your stock battery last? Are you able to get through your day?
I was thinking of getting a stock battery but then I am not sure if it'll be enough for me or not. I am usually away from charger for 10 hours straight.

I'm lucky if my stocker lasts me more than 5-6 hours of medium use. 3-4 hours of heavier use (heavy web browsing and texting) on a good day. 30 second timeout, autobrightness on running juice defender ultimate/setCPU to conserve.

Agreed. With Snuzzo's latest Funky Kernel and Juice Defender running custom settings, I get about the same with the stock battery. I tend to keep the phone charging while in the office.
On weekends or when travelling I use the extended battery or even a Hyperion 3500 mAmp and that gets me through the entire day (but not necessarily "an" entire day, i.e. 24 hours).
One thing to be careful of with OEM batteries is the back, since the back has the antennae. The Hyperion back is useless -- I my Hyperion battery with the official Verizon supplied back with the extended battery.

How do you like the hyperion battery compared to the OEM extended?

I'd say the Hyperion gives me approx. 20% more than the OEM extended all other things being equal, however, on at least one occasion, I found the Hyperion battery was misreporting how much juice it had left, and all of a sudden I got a crazy 5% alert (after a long time trying to run the battery down). That's purely ballparking it, and remember 43% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I have the OEM Verizon extended as well. People ALWAYS comment on my brick phone. I hate it how big it is, and I still find it BS that the Iphone 5 can run all day on an internal, the droid razor maxx can run all day on an internal, but I have to have a brick to make it all day. Anyway I have a very low signal with no wifi at work, so if I can't charge it immediately after work, or need to go out at night, I definitly use the the brick....I mean extended. Lasts all day with heavy use. It really is the best option if you can't get to a charger. Mostly thought I use the stock battery, and give it a boost on the charger so I have plenty of power in the evening. I use the VZW silicone case with the extended battery and it protects it pretty well.

I have the Laza extended battery. Works great, but with all the use, the back cover doesn't fully clip on (top left has a bit of a gap) and the ring around the headphone jack broke. Neither of these interfere with the usage. Battery life is definitely longer than the stock battery. I always slap it in before I go somewhere where I might not be able to charge and it hasn't failed me yet.

Even i got the laza extended battery from amazon(3250mAh).It is definitely better but its cover doesnt fit properly and phone becomes very very bulkier.I would instead suggest the 1750 mAh laza battery from amazon. They ship two units with a battery charger and a case to hold everything! And most importantly it does not require another back door, fits with stock back cover.Havent tried it but i think having a spare charged battery in pocket is far better than carrying a brick weight all the time

I used the OEM extended battery for a few months and got used to the bulk. It was ok but never as good as I thought it should be.
A few months ago I bought the LAZA extended battery and like it a lot more. It can get me through a day much, much better than the OEM extended battery. I kept the oem back cover though because I didn't like the "laza" printed on theirs. Works the same.
Last week I finally got a replacement rezound to fix the proximity sensor problem and wanted to try the slim thing again.
I'm trying the Laza standard size battery. It's rated better than the oem standard battery and for $23 you get 2 batteries & a charger.
It's not nearly as good as extended but is definitely an improvement over oem. Time will tell.

Anybody know where to get the OEM cover only for the extended batteries? I ordered the Laza battery w/ cover and it should be here today, but I keep reading all kinds of hit or miss signal with the provided cover. So I guess I'm just hoping I get a good cover that actually works, and if not, I'll be wanting the OEM one. Any ideas are appreciated. Also, on a side note, HTC.com no longer even shows anything for the Rez. Sad, really.

Yea, kinda figured. I've been scoping it out the last couple days, but unfortunately for me, nobody is selling the cover alone. Fingers crossed for a good Laza one!!! Although one of the reviews on amazon for it said a guy had problems with the cover and they sent him a new one with a free case. That would be sweet! Lol.

Zarboz the developer might sell one. I think the OEM cover is a good idea though.Have you tried adjusting the brass fittings and terminals or making some slight tweaks to make the terminals meet better. Several guys did that with foil spacers a while back that worked good for the life of the phone.
Also check with Verizon. I bought my extended battery and cover for like $20 bucks when the phone was popular. If it's been reduced or on their battery special or something it might be cheaper than ebay and shipping, or a little more expensive but worth it since you can walk in and get it, or hell test drive it in the store and see if it seems to help any before ordering it.

Haven't gotten the battery yet. Still out for delivery. Just hoping I get a good one. From reading experiences and reviews from others, some work perfectly, others need replacement covers. Hopefully it arrives before I go home for the day, and I'll know for sure. Thanks for the tip tho. May try and make a trip to a VZ store in the next couple days if need be. I just saw they had nothing on the site. Didn't even think about going in.

How often do you replace your batteries I have had the 2750mah battery for a while now and now I struggle to get a full day. I guess I am trying to figure out if it is related to the different roms or time for a new battery.

Everyone with Battery Life Complaints...

For everyone with Batterylife complaints here are 3 options for you. NEW Updated Post.
Battery Adaptor Pro:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/batteryadapter/index.htm
This is by far the best option in my opinion for battery life problems. This little device about the size of the hermes, a little wider and very sleek / feels good in your hands. Its only $22.50 and worth every penny! What the device does is take AA batteries (4) and recharge your device via the USB cable. You can use the phone while its recharging too! What makes this device even more great is that is uses batteries, not its own rechargable battery, so on a long flights or long road trips or whatever the case may be, all you have to do is stock up on AA's and your good to go! It also comes with a flash light, VERY BRIGHT LED's for dark situations, although random, it comes in handy alot in dark situations trying to find your way to something or trying to hook the USB cable in. It recharges the Hermes about 6 times in my personal expirience with Duracell batteries. But get this! The best thing that makes this device worth every penny is that its compatible with ANYTHING that supports USB charging. This includes all other phones, Ipods, Personal video players, MP3 Players, Cameras you name it! Its great for keeping all your devices with battery power on any trip you go on especially if you travel alot. I no longer have to worry about battery life anymore with this thing. Its very small and easily can go in a pocket or a pouch in your backpack. No longer do you have to suffer with BIG bulky batteries to keep you going through the day/days. I highly recommend this unit and give it a 10/10!
You can Get an Extended battery 3000MAH from:
http://www.lionbattery.com/description.php?noproduit=477
Although very bulky the battery life boost is amazing. My friend has this phone (I don't have one yet, i just sold my 8125) and I have indeed tested it for myself. The battery will last you 10 hours before it hits 80% battery life. With these ten hours I was able to web browse, text message, use agile messanger, playing Doom 3D, Warcraft II, Sim City, Play music at 45% volume. at 60% batterylife I it had been over 25 hours already. With you constantly using 3G, push email and such Id probably say you can get a minimum of 35 hours of battery life with this battery. If you are not so hardcore You probably will get over 50 hours of battery life with this battery. The only cons I have to this battery are the size. its a great investment if you are one of those people always going on bussiness trips and such. You can charge both your stock battery and This battery and use the stock until it runs out then pull out the heavy duty. I highly recommend this battery. This battery comes with a cover for the 8525 too. 9/10
For all those who can't stand the size of this battery there is hope for you.
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=333
The stock battery for the 8525 is 1350 mAh, and this one is 1500 mAh, this battery won't improve your battery situations much at all but it is cheaper than the option of buying one from HTC or cingular. You can get both the stock battery and this one and have them both charged to last you however long you need. Although a tight fit it still fits in the battery comparment and works with the 8525. 8/10
I hope this helps some of your frustrations with battery life with this phone.

Pity about the thickness, but the sheer capacity makes one think twice... More than double the normal mah...
I just ordered the 3000mAh battery from lion's website - I'm getting low battery warnings towards the end of the day. I'll let you know how it works out!
lemme know how it is
Well, it's supposed to arrive today - I can't wait! My phone died before I made it home yesterday - very irritating!
Has anyone tried one of those 1500mh batteries? I don;'t want the extended one because my brodit mount will become useless and and just suxs. Anyone have an opinion?
http://www.ipods99.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=HTCHERMSL&click=35
Yey!
Well, I got my Lion 300mAh battery and I have to say I'm pleased overall! I'm still breaking it in but so far it has lasted a complete day with Wi-Fi on and a hour worth of movie watching. It came very nicely packaged from the company - it also has a 6 month warranty according to the paperwork. The battery is approx. twice as big as the OEM battery. My biggest complaint is the battery door doesn't fit quite as snug as the original... near the camera it has a chamfered edge instead of the rounded edge on the OEM door. Also, there is slightly more clearance to the left and right than the other door. After a week when the battery is broke in, I'll give a proper update on battery life (Lion recommends 5 complete charge/discharge cycles for maximum capacity). I have several pictures of it, but I can't figure out how to post them here ><
Im very glad the battery worked out for you lacroixdp . Yeah the non HTC made battery covers wont fit on the battery as much as it should but enough to get the job done. I'm glad the battery last as long as it does expecially with all that Wifi usage.
4 u slimsaturn the 1500 battery, there is no difference to be seen, its just a cheaper alternative to having 2 batteries to switch between on those long bussiness trips, for improving battery life however, u will not see a difference.
There was some talk of a 2000mAh battery for the hermes that wsa the size of the original one. I think it was supposed to be from lion battery as well. Anyone have any news on this?
Well after a few days following their recommendation on the complete charge/discharge cycle, I can safely say it is an excellent battery! At the end of work, I'm at 80% charge still. With the same usage before, it was always between 30 and 20 giving me low battery warnings. I DEFINITELY recommend the 3000!
I got one off ebay 3400MAH I hope its better or good.
I thought about that one but decided to stick with lionbattery.com and Mugen since they have a solid reputation for batteries. Plus I have a 6 month warranty to use if I ever need to.

I've had the 1500 battery for about a week. I cannot tell any difference between this one and the stock batter but for the fact that I have to use scotch tape to keep the back on. I used the Lion battery on my i730, but hated the size. I am ready to deal with the size due to the fact that I cannot deal with the shortness of battery life.

I Second the good rating of the 3000mAh Mugen Power Battery.
I bought it for my HTC TyTN from the Netherlands and alhough it bulges to double the size of the standard battery from the back plate - I like it though; gives me better grip on the slippery phone! - it gives me looong life compared to the standard issue (1350 mAh).
As noted earlier, along the sides the extended back plate does not fit 100% snugly, with a (very) minute gap on both sides. But not enough for the back plate to come loose though. Plus the edges (the rubber stopper at back - the antennae socket) is not smoothly cambered. Nothing a nail file couldn't fix though.
Great battery Mugen Power!
Haha that's even better I emailed in about the door and 15 minutes later I got a reply and a tracking number for a new door - excellent service! You've definitely earned a repeat customer! Are you coming out with an extended battery for the Treo 750 soon?

Hi,
I have about 3 months with my TyTN and I can see that battery life has been reduced. Battery duration is decreased and charge time I guess that is reduced too. Is there a known battery calibration problem or this is a normal behaviour for a 3 months old battery???
Regards,
Taguapire.
Because I am on holiday I had a chance to do a controlled test of the battery. I charged the standard battery, turned on the phone and made one call a day to just make sure its still working. I also forced the band into gsm only. My battery lasted 7 days from full to flat. I then did the same thing being only in umts and I got 3 days only. The test is controlled because I did not physically move the device at all in that time, so signal strength and tower searching would be kept constant.
I think that is pretty clear the 3g is the killer. The dopod 838 pro lasted longer than my magician would have under the same sircumstances.

Poll: Extended vs Not Extended

Hey everyone,
I currently have both extended and not extended battery.
Was wondering what everyone else is using.
Edit:
Apparently i didnt attach the poll, lame : /
I have 3 regular batteries and a battery only charger. Didn't want to deal with a fatter phone, it barely fits in the case as it is.
I'm looking into getting that PowerSkin when its avilible for the thunderbolt. I got sick of how ugly the Extended made the phone look.
Just the one standard batt that it came with here. I keep looking for the charging stand that come with and extra standard batt though. VZW has them for Charge and Revolution but not Tbolt though. It's 3g only where I am and I get a solid day out of my phone easily.

I use the one that came with phone mostly but I also got the extended from VzW and love it!
I use the extended i like that it makes it a little thicker. Still have my stock battery n cover incase this one dies.. wish I would have looked around a little more n saw the 3500 mah I think it is. Woulda been way better then 2750

I use both, but like the extended better. I think my stock battery might have been faulty from the factory. My extended battery lasts approximately 3 or 4 times longer than the factory battery when nothing else has changed. I've calibrated my battery and cycled it correctly, etc... I use the stock battery sometimes strictly because I have the Best Buy Platinum case, which will eventually be replaced by something better but similar, and its really convenient.
With both batteries though, I make through at least an entire work day on a charge with my settings set up properly. I bought the extended battery when I got the phone, and it was only lasting part of a day on a full charge, but by the time Verizon shipped the extended battery I had learned enough to set my phone up correctly and avoid excessive battery drain.
I'm currently running BAMF Sense 3.0 Ginger with MR2 radio
I have the stock battery. 10-12 hrs gets me through my day.
I haven't mastered the voodoo necessary to get the stock battery through the day without a charger, but I can master it on the extended. So I keep the original in reserve and my Seidio cases keep my TB with the extended safe.
Stock for me. Gets through a 10 hour day of moderate use with no problems on latest roms.
Yea I went with two stock batteries and the New Trent IMP1000. It seemed to get the best ratings and has the amps to be able to charge our phone right not like the 500milliamp ones. The two batteries seem to work fine for the day for now but soon I won't always have direct access to a charger that's why I bought the NT IMP1000. It was worth a shot.
-Dubsky
Stock battery for me, keep a charger with me at all times but most of the time it makes it through a day at work with minimal use.
Im rocking the extended battery, i unplug it in the morning and go the entire day without charging. When i go to bed that night its usually around 60 or 50 percent battery and i dont charge it. Usually need to plug it in before i go to bed the next night.
Recently ive been running my stock battery unless I know im going to be out that day using my phone a lot of if i go into 4G coverage areas.
Extended. A little bulky, yes...but now my mind is free of constantly looking at battery life on standard. I charge overnight, wake up and go about my business.
Extended and couldn't be happier. I work.at Best Buy and got the extended battery that just came out, its actually made by Sedio, but I'm loving it. I went almost 5 hours and was down to 72%. Battery Left Widget estimates 18-19 hours on a charge. So worth the extra size.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I have the extended and love not having to worry about being near a charger 24/7. There is some added bulk, but it really isn't that bad. The only thing I don't like is that with the Seidio case, it uses its own plastic kickstand instead of the nice built-in one.

Is it worth getting the extended battery?

My Rezound will be here Wednesday.
I am wondering who bought the extended run battery and what kinda of improvement you saw.
When i got the extended battery for my dinc it made a large difference.
I dont know how much better the Rezound will do verses what the dinc did on battery life.
Wondering what to expect,
What are you guys getting for bat life,

I have the ext battery and never use it. I get about 15+ hours average with this battery. I would say get it if you will not be around a charger for over 10+ hours or if you will be doing heavy video watching and gaming. I use my phone fairly heavily and get plenty of life from the standard with the ROM and kernel I'm running. The longest I've seen from my battery now is around 23 hours. The shortest I've seen lately was about 10 hours.

I have the extended battery. I only pop it in when I am going to be solely on 4G for more than 8-10 hours. I keep it in my truck fully charged incase I need it. Other than that I get about 15-20+ hours on the stock battery with moderate usage. Last night I had been on battery for 14 1/2 hours and still had 67%. Of course, I was on WiFi the whole time as I never left my house.
I have the extended battery and love it...I get 24+ hours from a full charge, and I never have to worry about it running out. I frequently ran out of battery with the stock battery. I think it's worth the peace of mind and being able to work your phone if you need to without having to use measures such as turning off data or something life that. It's not even that big that it would be worth a thought. If it's still half price, it's a no brainer.

Without going into whether or not you need it, I would get to your Verizon store and buy it while its half price. You have 14 days to return it.
Personally, I didn't like the bulk and lack of cases. I am going to try and stick with the standard battery for now. I returned the extended. I may be wrong but time will tell.
In terms of what people are saying here about battery life with the extended battery, I agree.
FYI... the extended battery doesn't seem to add weight, just bulk.

It's not that bad size wise. I only notice it when going back to stock from extended. My phone feels tiny in my hand, lol.
If you can get it for 25 bucks why not get it?

I was thinking that it would be hard to find covers for it
I work in construction so I have have done in the past is buy a cover for the phone and also buy a leather holster and clip it to my work belt, i have dropped my dinc multiple times from around 8' and nothing has ever happened to it.
If I get the extra bulk Im wondering if I can find that type of setup
the 1/2 off price is Real tempting
I'm a pretty heavy user of the muliti-media aspects for my phones so when I bought my new Rezound a couple days ago I bought the Verizon sourced 1750 extended battery and cover. It's my backup up I know I'll be using it frequently going forward.
I upgraded from my original AMOLED dinc. I love my Dinc and I love this new Rezound.

I will need to check that out,
I looked online for the Rezound ext battery and could not find anything on the VWZ website.
thanks for the info
They pulled it down because people were exploiting some loophole to get it for $5. I figured it would have been back up by now though.
I picked up an extended battery a couple of weeks ago while they were on sale, and definitely appreciate the extra use time it gives me over the standard battery.
That much said, I'll be sticking with the smaller battery under most circumstances, mostly because I prefer the Seidio Surface case that will not accommodate the extended battery. The Verizon case that fits the thicker back leaves the top and bottom of the phone exposed, which makes me a bit nervous in the event of a fall. I'd love it if Seidio would make an extended Surface case.

It's definitely worth it as long as you can get it for $25, i just got one a few days ago. I like to run my phone at full power and brightness so it's great, I got 27 hours yesterday (9 hours awake) at full brightness and 1.8 GHz while the screen was on, but then again I was on wifi also.

thanks,
thats a pretty cool looking setup, but I would be afraid if the phone dropped on its back the camera lense would crap the bed.
Thanks for all the ideas
Dang, i forgot, when does this sale end again?

[Q] Battery Issues

I have a Rezound I got in June of 2012, I am unlocked and running CM10.1 and the phone has never run smoother, but the battery is killing me. Back in December my battery just outright died and Verizon gave me a new one. The problem is that even though this battery is only five months old I only get half a day off a full charge. This morning I played a game for ten minutes or so and surfed Reddit for a few, in total less than thirty minutes of use and I was already down to 85% on my battery. Does anyone else have problems like this, is there an actual fix, am I doing something wrong? Someone help please.
i use the pc to charge the battery its charge it at 500mah max
the battery life is better then normal charging
i use for browser uc with lower brightness and low image

Try another battery, undervolt your phone, reduce your brightness, etc.. Can you take a screen shot of Settings, Power, Battery Use to see what's using most of your power? I'd suspect the screen is since it's a power hog.
Screen is a *****!

I will start manually controlling my screen brightness, and what do you mean by "undervolt your phone"? Attached is a SS of m battery usage.
Make a screen shot after clicking on Screen item on you your screen shot. That way we can see how much usage of screen time you get. Usually I don't get more then 2 hours of screen time.

If you got about thirty minutes of screen on time with only 15 percent drop in battery, then that is pretty good for this phone. Sorry to inform you, but it isn't going to get any better with this phone. Battery life is, and always will be, the worst aspect of the Rezound.

Yeah that is a bit of an odd one to me as most reviews said battery life is about the same as the Galaxy Nexus, and most people I know with that phone are content with the battery life.

I assume you're talking about the stock battery and not the extended. With the extended I usually get about 5 1/2 hours screen on, but that with maybe 5% left.

Screenshot or it didn't happen. Seriously though get an extended.
where would you all recommend coming across an extended battery? ebay etc? Also, I got an extended battery a little while ago, granted it wasn't HTC oem or anything, but the back cover that came with it did not appear to really give me any signal anymore, as if the contacts for the antenna were not touching in order to allow for the signal to be amplified.
I have this: 2750mAh Battery For HTC Rezound, ThunderBolt 2 Extended with Black back cover from UK-Expert (can't post links yet)
I know I know...probably not the greatest thing to trust...didn't think much about it at the time =P Should I just go for buying htc oem off ebay? or what do you all suggest to get the extended battery & the cover so that it actually works this time =P

As you know our antenna is part of the battery cover. I have read quite a few posts where people buy an offbrand extended battery and their signal ends up bad because of the new battery cover. So because of that personally I would buy your first extended from Verizon. You have to be careful buying "oem" batteries off of Amazon and EBay because they make claims that they are oem when they are just lookalikes. I can suggest a case too that won't add any thickness to the back. I got that case and extended and love it.

Looks like they are out of stock on the case but you may find it somewhere else. GL

ok will do. that case is out of stock but i'll check around I'll be careful looking for them since Verizon doesn't want anything to do with the Rezound accessories much anymore...or at least I had no luck finding anything. I'll see what I can gather up on ebay/amazon hopefully I get lucky thanks.

Review of the 2500 mAh Samsung Extended Battery Kit for the Alpha

I recently purchased the 2500 mAh Samsung Extended Battery kit for the Alpha from "Fonejoy". It only took one week to get, which is impressive being that it came all the way to PA from the UK. I actually didn't "need" the extended battery...reason being that I ran G Service Fix and found that I have 2 wake locks that were causing my poor battery life. I decided to keep it because I wanted the extra weight of the battery (I find the Alpha with the regular battery too light) and one can always you more battery life.
Long story short, I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with the extended battery and I highly recommend it. I was getting much improved battery performance after fixing the wake locks, but the battery performance of the extended battery kit far exceeded my expectations. Here are a list of the benefits (my "likes"):
1. The look and feel of the back battery cover is the same as the original cover that came with my phone. It's the same soft, "leatherette"...no idea what it's actually called. But, it's the same as the original. I like the fact that it just says "Samsung", rather than AT&T like my original cover.
2. I like the added weight of the battery. It adds just enough grams of weight to feel more substantial in your hand. It's a very slight weight difference, but just noticeable.
3. It barely adds bulk to the phone. It's just a few MM thicker. Proof of that is that it fits perfectly in the SPIGEN Neo-Hybrid case I also bought, which is intended to fit with the original battery.
4. Now for the main benefit, the extended battery time. Currently, I'm at 1 day and 9 hours with 2.5 hours of screen-on-time, and it's only down to 49%! That's exceptional performance. I will post an update when it's down to 10% to see how long it lasted. I'm very happy with the performance. And, with this battery, I reverted back to turn ON Bluetooth. Previously, I had turned it off to save battery life, but now I feel like I can actually use features of the phone that I'm intended to use.
Please let me know if you have any questions about it.

I too have this and also bought from the same seller. This extended OEM battery is truly amazing; Samsung should have just shipped the phone with it.

I completely agree. No idea why Samsung couldn't have shipped the phone with this battery, especially at the original price point of the phone.
Update: I'm now at 2 DAYS and 3 hours of SOT, and still have 30% battery left! I couldn't have come close to this before.
Please post some detailed pictures with the new battery fitted on the phone. Just to make a clear ideea of the thickness of the battery. Also, my Galaxy Alpha is sleek silver...have you seen extended battery pack with sleek silver cover? Thank you!

hi Ski_rush,
I think I have the same worries of battery you had before.
What are the two G Fix service that drained the battery? and what was the solution?
Thank you for the answer.

Hi, my battery drain before was cased by 2 "wakelocks". Before all this I had no idea what a "wakelock" was. The 2 that I had were actually caused by Google. Essentially, google play store and google services were stuck in an "on" cycle and just killing my battery really fast. It was like a percent every minute. As it turns out, "wake locks" are not uncommon.
I installed G Service Fix. It's a free app. I think there are several similar apps, but I used this one. All I can say is that the difference was immediate. Before doing the fix, the phone wouldn't even last a full work day. I was pissed. I felt I had to get the bigger battery. However, after the fix, it easily lasted over a 24-hour period. I really didn't need the bigger battery, but I had already ordered it from the UK. And, I knew that it would add a touch more weight to the phone, which I wanted.
Now that I have the bigger battery and the wake locks fixed, my phone lasted 2 days and still had over 30% left. The difference after fixing the wake locks was remarkable.
Just installed g fix, lets see if my sot will get bettrt
Im ok with the original one. Btw good review.
Nice post..now to find one. the Alpha is a lot more frugal than my old nexus by far, but the extra life would be nice

Does this need to root for the app to work?
Can anyone post a measurement of the thickness after installing the new battery? How much thicker does the phone get?
Thanks!
is it ok to use the extended battery without the backcover and just put the spigen case on it?
Interesting question. I haven't tried it but it might work fine. I would think the extended battery is thick enough to fit snuggly up against the Spigen case.
