Thanks but we didn't do a backup and really don't want to lose everything. Any other ideas?

Define "lose everything". Factory reset will reset any user data, which means: all your customized settings including email and password, text/multimedia messages. It will also temporarily wipe out your contacts list and calendar, but when you enter your email and password again it'll automatically restore those. Google backs those up automatically.
Any photos and music and such will be stored on your SD card so those will not be wiped out.
There is NO other choice in order to bypass the lock pattern.
Apps will still be on there, just lose the apps' settings (reset to default).
If you have any concerns about anything else in particular just ask and I'll tell you whether it'll be safe.
Actually, factory reset deletes all of that apps as well. However, after initializing your phone after the first boot of a factory reset, when you go into the market the first time and go to the "downloads" tab, all of the apps that you had installed - free and paid - will be there. Install everything that you want back without leaving the market - only the paid apps that you did not install the first time will probably be there after that.
Can't you change the pattern with the gmail account?

Have you tried a flashover of your rom? Not sure if that will help though.

[Q] After flashing with Megatron probs

I keep getting com.lge.lgmits was closed messages randomly... What does this mean? Basically I swiped everything after doing the backup -> lost the backup. The custom recovery rom still works though, when I reboot into it, and the phone works other than the error that I mentioned. Would re-flashing the phone help? And do I need to partition the card again as well?
Also don't understand the whole backup and swipe thing.. At what point am I suppposed to swipe the card? After backup? But then the whole backup will be destroyed? lol

Wipe the external as well?
Didn't wipe the external but lost the backup all the same.. Oh well, I didn't have anything there anyway. I re-flashed with Megatron, since void seems too complex for me, and no errors so far.. Edit: Oh the errors started again..

I have no idea. But as far as i can tell, it does absolutely nothing to my phone. I have a lot of background services removed since I'm using Light ROM, therefore I (and maybe anyone else) is fine without that suicidal service.

You wipe when you feel it's necessary to wipe. For example, wipe Data, cache, and dalvik-cache when you're starting with another ROM. If you're upgrading, you may not wipe anything, but that depends on a ROM.
Try viewing the contents of flashable zips. Notice the directory structures I'm not sure if zips contain instructions for the recovery to delete certain stuff, but I don't think that's the case.
Also, you can keep your backups on a separate card or on the PC. I have mine there since I'm a perfectionist when it comes to disk space
Thanks for the help! I froze the service with an app and phone still functions just fine, so hopefully that took care of it. Really don't wanna flash AGAIN LOL Any idea how to save backups to PC? Or just use the LG PC Suite?
toggle usb mode and transfer the files to pc or use a card reader...

What ccdreadcc said. There's a nandroid folder in the root of the SD card. Backing up and restoring backups should be pretty straightforward

[Q] Nand from one phone restorable on another?

I have my p500 working flawlessly with v18.0 & froyo final. I recently installed the exact same setup on my friend's phone. The only problem is that she is telling me that the edge icon never appears / appears briefly and disappears. All the data settings are right according to what i've seen. (I've also installed the same setup on multiple p500)
She's not with me right now, and isn't quite sure to pull thru the nand backup/restore/flashing/ instillation and stuff.
The question is, suppose i set up everything she needs on my phone and nand back up it and ask her to restore that backup on her phone? Will it work? Has anyone tried it? I don't wanna screw this up for her.
Please assist me.
First: Wrong section
Second: Yes, it's possible, did the same to my wifes phone (we both have a P500).

Is exactly the same thing no worries. Just make sure you partition the sdcard properly like yours in case you want to restore sd-ext apps
Yes you can, as said above make sure sd partitioning is same. I used a stock rom nand backup that was posted on xda by another user when I wanted to take my phone to warranty services. It worked fine.
Did you backup .androd-secure?

You may want to try it without .android-secure and see if that works and/or wipe android-secure on the other phone. I'm thinking out loud here. I've never actually tried this so take it for what it's worth.

Android secure contains apps that are moved to the sd card (froyo apps to sd). So if you restore it you will find those apps. You can easily uninstall them later. Haven't tried this, taking an educated guess.
Suppose I have apps like widget locker making use of data from the sd card (the theme), will they be affected in the phone onto which they'll be restored?

Yeah, I suppose, if widget locker was enabled at the time you made the nand backup. If you really don't want any of your apps in someone else's phone then restore your backup to your phone, do a factory reset (or uninstall all offensive apps) , and then take another backup.

[Q] ok guys a little help here please

i recently flashed rom to my 3d. i did a full wipe and everything but i was told my contacts wouldnt dissapear but theyre gone. also my sd card has 121 mb free but there is only 1 app on it? does that make any sense? thanks for your help.
Your contacts should have backed up to googles servers. Did you ever deselect that option on your previous ROM?
Can you explain the last part? What do you mean you have only one app?
Appreciate my help? Thank me

Your contacts should come back when you sign into your google account and let it sync. No idea about your sdcard.
i cant seem to find out why so much space is missing from my sd? could it be the actual rom itself? the only thing i have on there before using tb to get my apps back is adobe app.
and my contacts didnt come back even after sync.. is there anything i can do ?

I'm going to assume you are using the 8GB card. Umm, you don't have anything on it, like movies or music? Did you create a nand backup before flashing? Those can take up like 1GB of space. Do you use a lot of apps?

nope nothing on it. and yes i did. about 3-4 times. no on the apps.
View the files on your SD card with a file manager. You should see what's on it.

Wait, what three or four times? Log onto your google account four times or make a nand backup four times?
Appreciate my help? Thank me
Let me get this straight...
Your taking about your micro sd card right? Is it the 8GB one, or did you swap it?
You say you have nothing on it, but the ROM you downloaded right? Also you say you only have one app also.
Can you view in what's in your sd card?
I'm really trying to understand.

You nand backed up four times? Then that can be the problem consuming all your space on the SD card. About the other one idk.
Did you ever uncheck the boxes in the privacy settings in your last ROM? If not, then I really don't have a sufficient answer for you.
I still can't see how nand backing up would take up all of the space, but with all the given information. Theres not much I can say.
Appreciate my help? Thank me

You can delete them. Or move them all to your computer to be safe. Just keep one handy, and restore back to it. You'll probably get your contacts back doing that.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
When you have your contacts back. Go to your Peoples app. Press the menu button, select import/export. Then your going to select export to sd card. Select the export to phone and google options. So next time if they go missing, you just import them.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
thanks you have been very helpful. one last thing please. lol. how do i go about deleting or moving some of them? =)

Do you know which folder they are in? If you do, then you just go to the folder and right click it. Select whatever option your going to do then voila! Your good to go.
Are you doing it by phone instead of using a computer? Just use astro file explorer and navigate to the folder. Long press it to bring up a list of options.
I assume you know how to move them to your pc right?

Try doing a full wipe (factory reset) before restoring the nandroid backup. If you're using the latest version of TWRP, go to the advanced settings menu, and then choose format menu. Wipe cache, data, system, and boot. DO NOT WIPE SD CARD. Then try restoring one of your backups. Make sure you have your phone unplugged when restoring and rebooting (sometimes it can be problematic when plugged in). If that doesn't work, then try flashing a new rom from scratch.
The easiest way to delete your nand backups, or store them to your computer, is to plug your phone into the computer, and choose mount as disk drive. Then navigate into your sd card, and find the TWRP folder, then choose backups, then navigate into the next folder (labeled as your phone's serial number), then you'll see your backups, which are labeled with the date and time they were created. Delete the ones you don't need, or move them to your computer for safe keeping. That should free up a good amount of space on your sd card, as each backup ends up between 800-1500mb.

Factory Reset

Hello all. I have a quick question hoping to get an answer to. This being my first LG, if I do a Factory Reset will it wipe the internal hdd completely clean? I don't recall my Samsung GS3 wiping it completely. I just want to get rid of any non used files and/or folders from apps that were deleted.
Also, I'm running Xposed. Should I delete the mods and uninstall Xposed before the Factory Reset?

A factory reset will wipe the device to a state that looks like out of the box.
So anything thing you have installed will go away.
It won't wipe the microSD unless you select that option but you will lose all apps and such.

Question, will the Factory Reset return the software to 10B or will it still have the 11C OTA software?
Thanks,
You'll keep the version you're on. Thx Tech

System level doesn't change.
