Tested method for rooting Chinese Galaxy S2 I9100G - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Its been couple of months I am trying to root my Galaxy S2 I9100G which was bought from China. I made deep research on XDA Forum to find any easy method! Several threads out there. At first I tried to follow this thread
The above thread founded helpful for maximum users with any problem. I tried by the provided steps with their "Superatmos (version 2.1 is very stable and recommended)" Kernel.....And it worked...rooted...but vibration function was disable (other users also had this type of problem). Then tried also to check hardware of my phone and everything was fine..I was keep looking for solution and someone on that thread said to "Flash Again With Original Stock Kernel". Well then I flashed again with INDIAN Stock Kernel...........and the result------ my phone was not booting up, only the Yellow Triangle was showing with Samsung Logo. I was just to pull my hairs when I found that many other people had this type of problem and the reason is HARD BRICKED..!!!!
Luckily my phone was restarted in download mode, and then I flashed again with "Superatmos_v3.0_XXLA1" Kernel. and voila! it restarted, booted, rooted and vibration was working again....!
Please note- Binary counter / Yellow Triangle will show. please check this pdf file by the thread-owner --http://db.tt/BwlUTGIl
The only reason for sharing my details above by thinking, its possible that other users may have this kinda problem. so this thread would be make them to relax a little bit. Now below I am repeating the steps for Rooting a Chinese Galaxy S2 I9100G with links. (Followed to Paras Lehana's original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570377)
1) Download Odin and install -- View attachment Odin3-v1.85.zip
2) Download this Superatmos Kernel file -- View attachment superatmos_v3.0_XXLA1.tar Believe me it will work any problem. You may try other version, but I Superatmos ver 2.1 which is recommended most wont work...anymore.
3) Go to Download Mode : Turn off phone. Hold vol down+home+turn on button. Release the on button after phone is turning on. After a few second, release all buttons. After that vol up.
4) Run Odin, connect phone with usb cable, yellow COMx will be shown in Odin. (Re-partition should not be ticked (no pit file is required here)
5) Select PDA button, choose the downloaded kernel file (usually a .tar file)
6) Click Start, a PASS will be shown if succeed.
That's it. you are rooted. please check other guidance for CWM Recovery / Super User / Remove Triangle / Binary Counter etc. on the thread-owner's pdf file.
Note: Users who don't wanna flash their Chinese ROM with any other but still wanna access Google/Play etc. they could follow above steps. And after rooting please follow this thread --- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29464673
Also users may follow below steps for replacing their Chinese ROM to Any Other.(After ROOT)
This method requirement is root access and Mobile Odin Pro only. Even if the phone are rooted with doomlord’s method and you chose not to have CWM support, it will work too
1) Download the stock firmware and copy it to the root of sdcard (internal). “tar” and “tar.md5”will be supported also.
please check on Sammobile for stock frimwares.
2) Install Mobile Odin Pro
you could search on google for Mobile Odin Pro to get shared pro version file.
3) Run the application and from “Open file …” select file that you just copied into the phone
4) If Everroot option is not ticked itself, please tick it if you want the phone to be automatically rooted during the process
5) I will recommend to tick all three options inside Everroot
6) And also please ticked the wipe data option but it is optional, but can reduce any bugs
7) Start the flashing
8) Result : root access, no CWM support, no busybox
Followed the original post----http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570377
I just wanted to associate together all required steps posted on XDA by some real professionals. So it will be easier for those people who is still searching on for Rooing Methods for Chinese Galaxy S2 I9100G.
Thanks

tried it, but couldn't get it to work
Thanks for that.
I have an SGS2
Model number GT-9100G
Android version 4.04
Baseband version I9100GZCLPL
Kernel version 3.0.8-1067026
Build number IMM76D.ZCLPL
On download screen
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i9100G_CHN_CHN
*#1234# gives
PDA: I9100GZCLPL
PHONE: I9100GZCLPL
CSC: I9100GOZHLPL
Build Info: Fri Oct 5 14:28:15 KST 2012
I tried flashing with the 3.0 XXLA1 tar as above and when the phone reboots it gets stuck on the first Samsung screen.
I can't get the old superatmos 2.1 kernel anymore (the "very stable and recommended' version) because the file has disappeared from Mediafire.
The old link was http://www.mediafire.com/?14qqbaw311b3wpm
I also tried 2.1.1 and 2.2 from http://www.android-hilfe.de/2869772-post2.html ... and I think 3.2 as well. They have the same problem.
I was a bit scared but downloaded the old I9100GOZHLPL file from
http://sampro.pl/firmware/android/samsung-i9100g/
and put the .tar.md5 file in the "PDA" box, clicked Start and that always takes it back to where it was (ie working again!).
I read through lots of threads here and followed all the little small instructions: USB debug mode on on phone, PIN off, KIES uninstalled on computer, no SD card. But battery and SIM card still in. The only bit I didn't follow was the "you have to install v1.0 first" advice from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22421729&postcount=150 because it wasn't in this post. And of course I would like to repeat what you did _exactly_ by getting the 2.1 kernel but can't find it anywhere anymore.
A Chinese page at http://zhidao.baidu.com/question/510191290.html talks about SuperOneClick working but I haven't tried it.
Another page at http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...37-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100g-all-things-root-4.html talks about a ROM that works on all phones except the Chinese variant
Any suggestions?

[Q] Attempting to install custom ROM

Hi everyone. I've had my I9305 for about a year now. When I got it, I rooted the phone. Now, I've been out of the rooting/custom ROM scene since then, and I'm trying my best to figure out how to do what I'm trying to do.
I want to make CyanogenMod my OS. After much researching and googling I've learned that the best way for me to continue is to restore my device to stock condition and start from scratch. This is after trying to boot into Download mode and trying to flash Clockwork Touch 6.0.3.1 .
Note: I've made sure all my connections are good, attached the USB cable to the back of the motherboard (no USB hubs) and tried different USB cords. The phone is fully charged. No SIM card or SD card in the device.
So far I've tried using Heimdall 1.4RC2 to flash CWT. It proceeds very quickly and does not show a blue progress bar on the phone.
I then tried to use ODIN to flash the stock recovery. That one also proceeds very quickly and does not show a green button until I remove the device from the computer.
Now, I can no longer boot the device. I get as far as the first Samsung logo and after half a second it disappears and turns off.
It might be valuable to note that I cannot boot into recovery mode. When I press the button combination I get the blue dialog above the Samsung logo but it disappears in half a second and the device appears to turn off. The reason I say it appears to, is because the screen turns black and the power button no longer turns it on until I remove and replace the battery.
Good news is I can still boot into Download Mode.
I really do not want to continue at this point because I am too afraid of bricking the device.
The phone is not vital, as I've bought an LG G2 to use as my main device and will not be rooting or fooling around with it.
I would more or less like to use this Galaxy S3 as a teaching tool.
I hope I've provided enough information and hope someone can be a guide for me!
Thx to all,
Mike
Hey,
Sounds like you are having a driver issue on your pc.
1. Charge your phone!!
2. Assuming you are using windows, try google for i9300 usb drivers. After installing flash philz recovery via odin and try to reboot to recovery.
Good luck!
Or you could install Samsung Kies to get the USB drivers.
Also, don't forget to turn on USB Debug mode in the developer settings.
A good resource I found when trying to root and install a custom recovery was Android Geeks. They have many tutorials. (disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Android Geeks at all)
I recommend you to root and install a custom recovery using ODIN. I've done precisely this, and I use CWM and have no problem. I've tried many roms and it works like a charm (currently on Temasek's 4.4 ROM).
>>>>>Also, don't forget to turn on USB Debug mode in the developer settings.

This is where I am confused... After reading all of those two posts I'm still unsure about what to do.
I cannot boot into my device and therefore can not install proper drivers or enable USB debugging.
I have went ahead and installed "Samsung Galaxy S3 Unified Toolkit v7.0.0" to try and guide me along this complicated process.
After following the instructions given by the toolkit (to a tee) I am unable to get a serial number at the top of the menu, and therefore cannot continue with that program.
So is the first step in this whole process getting the recovery to work? If so, where should I start since I cannot even boot into it nor talk to my phone properly with my current drivers.
The only thing I have working right now is Download Mode.
The screen shows the following text:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I747M
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (18 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
I am unable to find the answer to my problem at this point...
If someone needs more information in order to help me don't hesitate to ask.
Thx everyone,
Mike
NOTE: I tried using the recovery.img file included with the above mentioned toolkit with Heimdall and I was able to successfully boot into recovery mode. I did a data cache reset and also a factory reset but I am still unable to boot into the android OS.
NOTE2: I downloaded the stock rom for my device, which I later found out was codenamed d2att or SGH-I747. Mine is actually the Canadian Bell SGH-I747M. Roms for the d2att still work on my phone though. So I flashed the ROM using ODIN after I installed the drivers using the zadig.exe file included with the Heimdall package. The flash worked like a charm. When my phone rebooted it immediately booted into recovery with some errors in red (those of which I can't remember). When I rebooted my device shows the glowing Samsung logo and stays there. It does not load into the OS.
u should search "softbrick" thread I think
thats happen to me in my first experience installing custom roms, in xda dont worry if u're phone softbrick or hardbrick. because there's answer in every problem u have. search search search, dont give up man!

SCH-I925 stuck in odin - download mode

I have a SCH-I925 10.1 Note that I bought for a very good price for the purpose of learning from it. The device has been soft bricked due to a root attempt gone bad. I want to try and get this up and running.
What I have done so far:
1: Allow device to completely drain it's battery. Attempt boot into recovery. Fail
2: Disconnect battery for the same purpose as above. Fail
3: Attempt to recover via kies. Device sits on 'connecting' and then quits after a while
4: Download firmware (I925VRAMK1_I925VZWAMK1_VZW) from Sammobile and attempt to flash via odin. File passes MD5 check and then nand write fails. tried a few different versions of odin all with the same result.
5: uninstall-reinstall drivers no change in results
6: Searched the hell out of the web and found plenty of people with this issue but have not seen any definitive way to fix this issue.
The root attempt was done by the PO and I have no info on what was attempted.
Thanks in advance for your help
edit: spoke with PO and was told that an attempt to load CWM and then 5.1 is what caused this issue
Mods would you move this to the correct area. I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 SCH-I925.
I have mistakenly posted in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forum.
Thanks

Stuck in Early Stage of Chainfires' Root Canal

Hello to all,
This is copy of HELP post i added on --[GT-I930x/T/N][SHV-E210*][SHW-M440S] CF-Auto-Root--. It appears that forum is not active anymore. HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME SOLVE MY MINOR PROBLEM:
Dear Doctor,
I really wanted this [THE ROOT] to work on the first go, but as i learned in kindergarten: A noob stays a noob. At least for a while.
In ODIN, after I did EVERYTHING Master Chinfire said to do, I hit "Start", but the proccess stops and says "Succeed 0/ Failed 1".
So i couldn't finish with the download
+
I can't figure how to attach a screen shot of th error for you.
Please help,
TNX
P.S.
I have tried to ro read different posts on the subject but never found a problem similer to mine. The only solution people offered was to download SuperSU directly through the phone. But in order to do that, i need to open a google account, which is one of the reasons i wish to root the phone on the first place.
What is the phone's model number? Boot into download mode to find it.

The definite guide to rooting Samsung Galaxy J3(2016) SM-J320FN & FRP Locked Bootloop

The definite guide to rooting Samsung Galaxy J3(2016) SM-J320FN & FRP Locked Bootloop
As first I have to say, I had to create a thread in Q&A because of the low rank, but I am sure this can be moved to the J3 section as there are many questions on how to gain root access to this device. This guide can work on the SM-J320F model as well, but it hasn't been tested on other models, so don't try it !
Lets start :
Dont forget to Backup all your data before the process !!!
1. Tick USB Debugging and OEM Unlock in Developer Mode (OEM has to be ticked to unlock the bootloader)
2. Connect to PC with USB Cable and open Odin
3. Power off and reboot into Download Mode (VOL.DOWN+HOME+POWER)
4. Add twrp.zip to AP tab
5. Untick Auto-Reboot and Start
6. Wait to finish
7. When it's finished hold (VOL.DOWN+VOL.UP+HOME+POWER) to Power Off
8. Load into TWRP Mode (VOL.UP+HOME+POWER)
9. In TWRP first go to the Wipe Tab, check Cache and Data and click Wipe
10. Copy SuperSU into internal memory from your PC
11. Go back to TWRP and select Install, select the SuperSU from the internal memory and click install without ticking anything, then reboot
12. Wait for the phone to reboot, it may boot-loop a few times, and it boots slowly but dont interrupt the process !
13. From there on, check the root status by downloading Root Checker from PlayStore
KEEP OEM-UNLOCK ON ALL THE TIME, IF YOU DONT WANNA END UP WITH A BRICKED DEVICE(CUSTOM BINARY WAS BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK)!!!
If that happens, here is an official guide from the Samsung Kies Support Page :
IMPORTANT: You may need your device model name, S/N number, or IMEI number in order to proceed. This information can be found on the label underneath your device battery.
WARNING: This process permanently deletes all personal information from the device. The information will not be recoverable if you proceed with this process.
1. Open Kies 3 and click Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization.
2. Enter your device Model name and click OK.
3. Enter the device S / N number and click OK.
4. Kies 3 will verify that the feature is available for your device. If the feature is available, click OK to continue.
5. The firmware version is displayed along with a note that the information on your device will be permanently deleted during this process. Click OK to continue.
6. Follow the steps to prepare your device for emergency recovery. Mark the checkbox next to I have read all of the above information. Select whether you agree to share this update with Samsung. Connect your device to Kies when you have activated the download mode. When your device is in download mode and connected to Kies 3, the Start upgrade button is available. Click Start upgrade to reinstall the firmware.
7. Touch Create backup to create a copy of selected items before proceeding. Touch Skip backup to proceed without backing up any items.
8. Kies 3 will download and prepare your system to update the firmware. This process can take some time. The time will vary based on your network and computer capabilities.
9. Respond to any security warnings about installing software.
10. The progress screen is shown during the upgrade process. The process will take several minutes to complete. Do not disconnect your device, turn the device off, or turn off your computer during this process.
11. Click OK when the upgrade is finished.

How to root SM-J320FN.rar
Works like a charm on J320FN.
I signed up just to say, after hours of trying different guides, accidentally factory resetting once or twice, and getting my phone stuck in a boot loop, this method worked. BUT it did factory reset my phone, but that's fine I've everything backed up and it wont take long to get it back. Maybe I pressed something I shouldn't have.
Some info on my phone in case it helps anyone in a similar position to how I was:
At one point I installed stock firmware from to get my phone out of the boot loop, I can't link it but if you google "J320FNXXU0APB4_J320FNO2C0APC1_O2C" (WITH quotes) you should find the page.
After doing that:
Android version: 5.1.1
Model number: SM-J320FN
Kernel version: 3.10.65-7225942 (Sun Feb 14 2016)
Build no: LMY47V.J320FNXXU0APB4
Baseband version: J320FNXXU0APB5
I hope I typed all that right. Thank you so much!!

Hey, why this guide doesn't mention that I have to download something. It's definitely NOT definitive! What is twrp.zip? Where do I take it from? What is AP tab? Where exactly do I copy SuperSU? What will happen in the download mode?
Problems in Root J320AZ
My name is Dario Lobos. I am working as a gardener and I am making a little application in my phone. I don't have computer so I did it in Java n-ide. I started with a Samsung core prime but the screen was broken and I did change it and the technicians broke it and gave me an Samsung s320. Android 6 (api23) and after that the java n-ide don't compiles the permits that I am requesting in the manifest so I can't grant permissions to my apk. Parallel of it the phone always show a notice unauthorized actions have been made please restart the phone to undo the unauthorized actions. And the lookout said message root access detected. I wrote Samsung without any positive answer. No technical assistance at all. But the roots checkers says that I have no root in my phone. Now I am trying to do a root. But I don't know if someone have a hidden root access in my phone. A page suggest Framaroot and you suggest kingroot. I don't want to store all my phone in their server to root it. Does any program that don't access to all the data to root the phone?. I am writing you since you have more experience to request you if it is in your possibilities. Also to ask you about prompt root commands. Where I can find info about that. A suggestion to solve my problem. My simple all is here

Well thank you in advance and any help is wellcome

Adding more information to what I did to try to find a an answer. I tried to root with Frama root 1.9.3 and the installation only request me access to the camera and after installed the programs showed a banner that said can't root your device.
Today I downloaded from firmware.mobi some zip and img files but I already I couldn't learn how to use them properly.
I am trying to avoid the exploids system because maybe is a hacker in the middle. Always I am trying to root w/o SIM card and with Wi-Fi off. So I think that kingroot and kingoroot are not useful for my.
I am trying to buy an old desktop computer as an alternative.
Well any suggestion is usefull and wellcome.
Before of all of that I did two factory reset in recovery mode.
Then I installed an apk Dev Tools (trinea) and one menu request me developer permit in accesibility setting. The phone started to change the color of the screen and the outside padding start to flashing red. Then was open a setting menu and the language was changed suddenly to Japanese or Korean while the screen was lighting like receiving knoks. I turned of the phone and restarted and hopefully I remembered the position in settings to change the language.
After that I had to use an apk repair system and fix Android and the screen get better but the padding outside still flashing in red ones in a while.
Also where added plenty sha certificates (settings user certificates) like system certificates
Go daddy
VeriSign
Some governments (Turkish, Spain, Japan, Germany, Holland, and more)
The Catholic religion with 6 certificates called
Quo Basis
And much more.
So I did another factory reset recovery mode. And the screen problem disappeared and the certificates that I turned off manually firt too (All) but the root alert in the look out and the security notice didn't disappeared.
Today I wanted to print your forum page and the phone put error. Only put error in your forum page.
Other thing that I had to to just after the unpackage the restored Android is disable the setup and transfer. Because I think that is this apk that were using to access and modify my files and grants permissions.
I installed the TWRP application but said the phone have no root.
Today I opened the developer option in settings and turned to on the OEM option to unlock the boot loader but instead of put a banner saying that all data will be erased put a banner saying that the device protection will be not work and didn't do the reboot or nothing more that put this dialog.
Dario Lobos
great, unlocken/rooten worked here. But after that, the mobile became unusable. All google apps complain no connection is available. I cannot update google play store, cannot update other google apps like youtube, or install any app now.
And perhaps it does not have anything to do with the mentioned process, but before I started the process, I made sure all nessacary file were on the sd card. But now I have finished wiping the data / cache from the recovery and all files on the sd card are gone.
I cannot login to google photos to see if the apps are backupped because every google app complains no internet connection is available.
So yes, rooting/unlocking worked, but that's the only thing that worked here. I now got a useless Samsung J3 2016...
I need assistant trying to root my J320FN, which I mistakenly wipe some backed up recovery file now, I can not get through with the rooting and I can get back to forma phone setting am locked up , samsung phone not coming up again please what can I do ?

I tried to change the Chinese Firmware to Global firmware to (Meizu Pro 7) and now I have a problem.
I followed this guide on this web:
chinahandys .net (I can't copy the link here since I have a new user
and so I deleted the file "boot.img"
I also couldn't open the Update.zip file with Winrar or another archive program.
then, I tried to do this :
"10. In FlashFire, select the small plus icon at the bottom right and select “Flash ZIP or OTA”. Select the “update.zip” file and confirm the pop-up with the tick at the top right"
but I couldn't find the “update.zip” file there.
finally, I tried to open the update.zip by pressing "Update".
since then my phone won't start.
The only thing i can do is pressing the "plus" button and another button below which will lead to me to a screen of Updating the system. when I try to do it's wrong because "firmware not found".
My phone is stock on the screen "flyme".
please help me!! I just bought this phone

Hi,
For 3 month, I hope you have find the solution. If you don't, here is mine :
I had the same problème on my phone.
I couldn't reinstall it, I think the version that I downloaded wasn't compatible with the "Chinese" version of my mobile.
You need to find the good firmware !
Could you try with this chinese firmware : MEIZU PRO7 Standard Version -Flyme6.1.3.2A-7.0
It's worked on my phone.
So,
Press and hold the volume up and power button until the screen goes on recovery mode.
Connect the device to the laptop or PC, you can open the device. You will see an empty partition named recovery.
Now copy the downloaded firmware of your phone and place it in the recovery partition. Just copy update.zip to recovery partition.
Now in the phone select update firmware and clear data and press next.
The phone will reboot and install the firmware.
Wait, wait, wait 15mn be patient.
tell me if it's working on your phone.
excuse me for my poor English !

Hello!
Was everything, such as google playstore and english language, still working on you phone after you updated the firmware?
I was also wondering if theres need to backup the IMEI somewhere?
Im currently running a modified verision of 6.1.3.2A which doesnt have all the features for the 2nd display and hence looking for an upgrade.

I used this chinese version less than 10mn. I would advise you to install the G firmware !
I didn't install the playstore (too thing in chinese in this firmware) that's why after running the version 6.1.3.2A, i used this tutorial :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75297402&postcount=70
"Download the firmware Flyme 6.1.3.2G from here
http://www.flymeos.com/firmwarelist?modelId=88&type=1
after you can do the instructions in video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDp6oZL4Wx4 "
Be careful when you install superSU to do the same thing as in the video. I don't do the same than on the vidéo that's why i need to reinstall the chinese firmware. After the installation i wait 15mn and my phone stays on Flyme. i restart it and it worked for installing busybox and flashfire.
I wish you bon courage !

Ah ok, so you only used it to be able to flash the global rom on?
Ive read multiple places that its not possible to update from A to G, thats why i was thinking about going to the 7.0.0.0A ROM instead. The shop i bought it from (CECT, who are not very well informed at all) told me it would brick the phone to go to G from A, my phone is apparently not intended for global sale thats why they make their own version and flashes it on...
So now im just looking for someone who can confirm that updating to the A-rom wont remove google play or english.
EDIT: I have the Helio P25 model
