These are major difference. But IF you comparing Android OS to Windows,i would recommend Android.I've used both OS.Windows is great, but not highly customizable like Android.Lumia wants a Lumia phone to send files via Bluetooth. It can't send to any others. Also Windows need Zone software to transfer files between PC & Winows phone!USB Masstorage won't detect if you don't have Zone on your PC.It is like APPLE.But atleast apple has alot of apps & games not like Windows.I recommend you Android. But the choice is yours

Well the thing is I do like androids. I recently just got rid of my unlocked HTC 8S because it moves on 2G speeds with tmobile (terrible) and reverted back to my amaze. I disagree on your point about the USB Mass storage as I have witnessed otherwise. Also when it comes to androids I stopped worrying about customizing as I used to customize the phone everyday as new information was available. I just want the device that is fairly simple and fast that is capable of doing daily tasks such as SMS/MMS Twitter apps Facebook Multiple Email accounts and fast Web surfing and music player. I really like Zune music player esp in comparison to Itunes. I'm not very big on apps as you can see

[Q] Curious about putting Evo Shift on Rhodium

Alright I know that the Evo Shift hasn't come out yet but the rom was leaked, right? So what are the chances it would work on the Rhodium to replace Windows. Of course hardware wise the shift is faster but the Rhodium should be able to handle it and it can be overclocked.
I was going to buy a Evo or an Epic but decided to wait heared rumors of phones coming out this year with dual cpu's and I'd rather have a Evo (4.3") with a slide out keyboard and dual cpu (if they do that).
I have run the Android off the SD card but it isn't great. It is good but it would be better if it was a true rom replacement for Windows. I love the keyboard (I believe it is the best slide out keyboard out there) and the tilt (for my kids when we are out and me as well).
Well hope it is possible if not I will just stay with Windows until something better comes along. Good luck to anyone that works on it I have a 2 Sprint Touch Pro2's so I can test on one of them if anyone needs a tester.

Dude... the Evo Shift has significantly different hardware. It does the RHOD no good whatsoever...

This statement makes me think you don't really know what you're talking about, you're just making assumptions. It doesn't work like this in the real world, sorry dude.
I honestly laughed out loud.
Sorry for my stupidity. The Overclock comment maybe I should have clarified. Under Project Android they have a download [Android v2.2 Froyo (FRX00B) 700MHz]. Now as for overclocking the Rhodium you can with Msm7kCpuSpeed but it is not safe. So don't give me crap about overclocking.
Now on to comparing the 2 phones (not all the specs):

Now if I missed anything important please do tell. As I see it the thing that would hold it back would be the Processor, Ram & Rom. If that is the case then a simple "no not possible" would have been fine. Looking at pictures & videos the Evo Shift looks alot like the Rhodium. I am not saying they are the same just saying they look alike.
If it does happen then great if not then that is fine too. Was just wondering if it is possible.

Remember, the processor, RAM, and ROM are the basics of what make up the "computer" part of the device. They are possibly manufactured by the same company (usually with parts imported from different companies), but things like instruction sets, etc could be and usually are very different. Also, the capacitive touch screen will create huge differences as well.
The 7600 is ARMv6, the 7630 is ARMv7 (those are the instruction sets I mentioned). They also have completely different cores, as well. Really, the only things they have in common are similar names and RISC structure.
Thank you! That is all I was looking for. I was hoping it was possible. I figured that would have been it but the that gets me is (I know nothing of writing software) it's not even possible of using the Evo Shift rom as a base. Again if it has alll to do with the processor, ram & rom I understand. But looking at computers for example you put windows xp on a 366mhz computer with 256mhz of ram & have a 500gb ide drive. I runs
Sorry for not finishing doing this off my Rhodium.
It would run slow but it runs. I know there is a big difference between a desk pc & a Smartphone. I am just saying people have rewrote OS's to work on different things. How about running Rhobuntu on the Rhodium? I haven't done it but it has been done.
I am not trying to start any kind of fight or problems was just wondering. I do thank you for the info. I am just learning about alot of stuff. I have flashed my phone & others many times. I am working on rooting & flashing a Samsung Moment now (trying to decided which rom to flash). Currently I am runniing NRGZ28 Energy rom (released 1/6/2010).
Thanks again.
If your question is whether or not a really good or group of really good coders could get it ported, the answer would be "most likely." The point of the answer, though, was it would have to start from ground up. There isn't a whole lot that could be taken from what's currently written for the Rhodium.
The Rhodium has run other software that was not meant for it. It is a matter of writing different drivers, not whether the hardware is there or not.
What's so awesome about the Evo Shift ROM that we don't already have? What is it about it that makes you want it ported?
Note: If you answer "this or that isn't working on with xdandroid" - it is because we don't have drivers for it. The hardware differences between the Evo Shift and Rhodium may be minor on paper, but in reality, they are going to be significantly different in terms of driver compatibility. Just look at all the hardware differences between various Rhodiums the xdandroid team has had to deal with that aren't visible to end users.
Things I would expect:
1) Completely different panel
2) Completely different GPS RPC API (Note: This is probably more dependent on the radio ROM than the hardware itself, but still - it would almost surely be significantly different.)
3) Probably a completely different wifi chipset
4) Probably a completely different bluetooth chipset
5) Completely different camera
I agree with your statement about holding out for a dual core evo shift as that would be the ideal next fone for me too
But as regards your query . . .evo shift is android right? And you do kno we havnt even perfected Basic Nand yet (good work being don't but not their yet) its not a case of ripping the rom changing a few things BAm! Flash it on and bobs your uncle its far from that Even if the device had the same specs. But regarding the specs you mentioned about the rhodium vs the evo. . .that is a pretty huge difference hardware wise even if you take overcloking into account(which will suk the battery dry)
For example take the huawei, iv heard it has close on identical specs to the rhodium family devices (528 processor) and it runs android froyo . . . . But that rom couldn't be just ripped and stuk on the touch pro. A port was made and after a lot of work it was got running (over on neopeek), But it wasn't Nand at all. It was run from sd card (which is the best method atm)
So in short could we get it running on tp2? Yes . . . .But it would NOT be off nand. And would it be worth the time and effort? No. . . . .because even after all the work I can almost garentee that it won't run as well as the huawei rom or other ported fone firmwares due to the fact of hardware differences

well xiaomi will support dual booting as well as i heard from sources so it might boot mango aka windows 7.5,miui,cm7,aosp rom all in one.
why dont u get an hd2 instead the best phone ever u can easily get a mint 1 at around 280 $-300$ if u want to use mango as hd2 will definately supprt all or wait for xiomi as it makes his way in xda and see what else starts cooking
Lekhwani : one of my friend is using this phone, except the specs nothing is good right now. Even though u can flash the mango, but the market is currently not available for Indian users. You need to hack/trick to use US market. Also, you will get bored quite easily after few days as no quality apps etc. I would suggest to wait until some big updates comes for WP7 thn only think to purchase it. For a great combo, use your current phone with iPod 4g and you will enjoy best of the world. iOS is great for gaming/music/videos and awesome appstore which will keep you busy. One the ICS comes, thn upgrade ur Android phone.
Ps: if you buy iPod 4G buy 32gb atleast as most good apps/games demands huge mb's and 8gb would be too less for you.

In single core... well we know that Ios got smoked by a WP7 XD XD
I don't need to see a browser test to know that the Lumia is the better phone

I don't care about benchmarks. It's fashion that android brought in mobile phones.
I see that lumia 800 is faster in loading pages than iphone 4, and most of the times a little bit slower than iphone 4s. But some pages loading faster with lumia rather than 4s. It's very small difference in time indeed.
But lumia has a really better scrolling and general feeling when browsing.
Overall, I prefer browsing with lumia, apart from screen size.
Yup... Iphone 4S rulz all the tests..... that's why I prefere and use a Lumia 800...
Benchmarks is one thing. User experience is what matters and that's why the Lumia wins anyway.

Why not? iPhone 4S might win some benchmarks.
But in real life, WP is simply faster:

To be fair, those aren't so much "real-life" scenarios as specific scenarios where WP excels against the competition. Other tasks, such as apps launching and contact finding & dialing, typically require one or two additional steps in WP, especially once you have a lot of apps installed.
Benchmarks are not indicative of real world use. I do not know of one web page which runs java script iterations for a long time for example.
The WP UI is far more optimal than iOS. I can do things with less touches than iOS and have proved that by comparing against the iPhone 4 here at our dev lab.

Iam thinking about buying an Desire X, can you tell me how is battery? How about performance?system reactions and gaming?thanks for answer
Battery perfomance gaming.
Ah yes, the Desire X is perfect for gaming, for a full game experience i suggest riptide GP, and about the battery, it's great, if you want to use it to the max, be carefull to not have to many apps open. And the perfomance is awesome, altough it's just 1 ghz, when using it, it won't differ that much from the HTC One X, so this is the best phone for mid-budget prices.

Performance feels good, not super fast but fast enough not to annoy me with any lag.
Battery lasts about two or three days here on regular usage. But I haven't yet installed SetCPU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419) yet, so it might last longer in the future.
I'm kind of thinking about getting this phone but by the time I can change (27 Dec 2012) there are gonna be lots more new phone out by then.

[Q] Cherry Mobile Razor - Changing the screen refresh rate

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone involved in this site. The experience has been very enriching so far.
I have a Cherry Mobile Razor which I bought here in the Philippines. Specs are as follows:
- Mediatek MT6589 Quad-core Cortex A7 Processor
- PowerVR SGX 544MP
- 1GB LPDDR2
- 540x960 qHD IPS LCD Screen
- 4GB Internal Storage
-16 GB SDcard/ External Storage
- Android Jellybean 4.2.1
- 1750mAh Battery
Now, it is a sweet device for it's price point. Catch is, the screen refresh rate is locked to a snail-pace 22Hz. That's right, 22Hz. The big difference between the amount of frames the device can process and the rate it can spit images out on the screen is so big it shows as a laggy platform for a myriad of 2D applications. You can even feel the "display latency" when typing on the on-screen keyboard. The animations are fluid, but laggy response can be felt.
The question:
I wish to edit the refresh rate setting on the device and set it to about 60Hz. I am rooted and read somewhere that settings are located in the kernel. I am thinking of editing the boot.img in my device, either the manual way via ADB or through a kernel kitchen. But before I do any sort of unpacking, editing, then repacking - am I looking at this correctly?
Are there other things I need to consider and know like LCD screen specs, etc.,... ????
