[Q] Streak continually rebooting itself. - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Pretty much the last 6 months of 2012 my Dell has been rebooting when I've tried to use it. It can stay on for a minute if I'm lucky, but then it reboots, sometimes gets stuck on Dell logo. Doesn't seem to be a battery cover issue. I installed Olleh on it to hopefully fix it, but that didn't fix it, I tried replacing the internal SD, which also didn't fix it. I'm at a loss. Was an expensive contract, and I didn't get much use out of it, so it would be a shame to not be able to use it again, but it happens. At least I know not to use a Dell product again.

You are on 5treak XDA place, why u not try on Dell Streak 5 Android Development, if u like Stock Style u can try install DSC 2.3 ROM from master n0p. If u want to try another style u can try install MIUI 2.4.20 from nitin1978 or PCM7-Streak from nom051205. I use MIUI 2.4.20 from nitin1978 with n0p kernel phoenix U30 for MIUI n never get reboot when i use it.

[Q] well.. another brick X10i

here is the situation
the x10 is dead, when trying to turn it on nothing happens(no vibration w/ black screen)
if take the battery out and put it back and try to turn it on, the phone would vibrate a bit with black screen
the programs however do recognize the phone when plugged in
well i basiclly tried three things to try to repair it
1. SEUS-which oddly tells me that the phone is up to date but the phone is still a brick
2. PCC- which gave me err
3. Flashtool- which gave me err too(i was trying with X10i 2.1.A.435 Global Generic)
when i tried to flash the phone it told me to turn on the phone then turn on Unkonwn Sources and Debugging... which obviously i can't do
i believe this would be the 1000th time someone post thread about this problem but i have to ask for some help after spending my whole sunday afternoon trying to solve the problem by myself.
i'm on the edge of giving up so this will be my last attempt if nothing new comes up
╰( ̄▽ ̄)╮ thanks to anyone who finished reading this boring thread and if there is a suggestion feel free to post it thanks again
I think we both have the same problem, I tried flashing it to the generic 1.6 fw and I was able to revive the phone. After which I updated it to 2.1 fw, now it seems to be working fine.
maybe a physical problem?
please try to flash with flashtool and post a log
Well, I also had a similar issue after updating a busybox from market on CM 6.1.3 rom.
Download the Flash tool & rom for the following link, follow the instruction & you are done my friend.

Well, you don't reinstall busybox and/or xRecovery when you are in a custom rom.
Yeh i agree, you've gone a bit too far. Private message obe of the devs, ur situation is way worse than normal bricks.

[Q] GAUSB1A134700-US Performance fix ??

I have :
Baseband Version : GAUSB1A134700-US
Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM Version : GAUSB1A134700
Build Number : 15247
Stock Android : 2.2.2
Now frankly speaking i do not know about any of those numbers mentioned above !!
I bought the phone a week back. The phone is really laggy in homescreen i.e. for dell stage.
There is a performance fix mentioned in the streak forum, I read like 35-40 pages of the thread also : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848487
but this is my first android phone and so i am a complete newbie, I also tried to read the How to root your android thread, but could not understand how to actually do a root ! PLEASE HELP ME !
I DO NOT WANT TO INSTALL ANY CUSTOM COOKED VERSION OF ANDROID, ALL I WANT IS TO INSTALL THAT PERFORMANCE FIX, BUT DONT HAVE EVEN A SINGLE CLUE HOW TO GO ABOUT IT, READ MY PHONE SPECIFICATIONS AND PLEASE HELP ME AND MODERATOR OR SENIOR MEMBER PLEASE HELP !!
There is no performance fix for the 347 (GAUSB1A134700-US) ROM. The only real option for you is to update to ROM 351, which is an official update from Dell. However, if you do that you will have an app called Oovoo in your notification bar on every restart of the phone. It is possible to temporarily shut Oovoo down by going into the phone's settings, tapping on applications, tapping Oovoo and selecting "Force Close", if you don't reboot your phone often. A permanent solution however is only possible by rooting the phone.
EDIT: 351 doesn't have a performance fix either, so don't look for it.
okay,
thanks for such a quick reply !
and anyways when i connect my phone to wifi and then check for updates it says no update found for your phone !
so even then there is no 351 for me still
I had a 347 phone and I never received the update. I simply downloaded it from Dell's website when I knew it had arrived because I knew how to set up the URL to get to it. If you go into the XDA wiki, in the Dell Streak section there is a list of ROM packages. You can get the 351 update package from there.
Now, to do the job, if you are unsure how.
(Source: Radimus' Guide to the Dell Streak (a highly recommended read))
1. Download the build you would like to install.
2. Rename it to update.pkg and transfer it to your SD card.
3a. Shut down the Streak.
3b. Hold the volume up and volume down buttons while powering on the phone. This will place the phone into recovery mode.
4. Using the volume keys to navigate and the camera button to select, select option 2. Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card.
5. You will be presented with a warning screen telling you to press the shutter button (camera) to continue or volume down to power off.*
6. Press the shutter and you should see a progress bar. After this completes you will see the Dell logo and after 5-10 minutes your device will load into your new Android build.
*If you get an error telling you to insert an SD card with a valid update.pkg then mount your SD card on your PC and check to see if the update.pkg is actually there. You may need to copy it over again. If you continue to get this error then you will need to reflash the stock recovery using fastboot and try again.
The only thing I recommend doing differently is if it's necessary to reflash the stock recovery, I recommend using Multirecovery Flasher simply because it eliminates the preparation you need to take in order to change the recovery image. Since you're working from an untouched phone, you shouldn't have this problem.
okay, thanks..
i will download the 351 and install it the way u said.
just one last question ??? after upgrading to 351 will all my contacts and apps be there or i will have to install them all over again ?
and for that *.pdf file...thanks man !!! awesome guide !!
Upgrading in this fashion resets the Streak to factory fresh condition, meaning you lose everything. The good news is however that once you set your Google account back up on your phone, your apps will start downloading themselves back to your phone automatically. If you told Google to back up your contacts, they will also return when the Google account is restored to the phone.
Get into the habit of doing manual backups of both apps and your contact list. There are numerous apps on the Market to take care of the apps. The contact list can be backed up from the Contacts settings menu.
okay thanks a lot !!!!
When I updated from wiki I didn't lose anything. Everything was there like I left it except for being rooted.

Was that from flashing the update.pkg or did you install the ROM in a different fashion? I know when I went from 347 to 351 using the update.pkg everything got wiped.

As long as phone is switching on its fine. You can fix it.
Download MultiRecoveryFlasher.
Put you phone in Fastboot mode. (Power ON with Camera).
Flash the recovery of the ROM Version you are planning to upgrade to.
Put the phone in Recovery by Vol Up + Vol Down when phone reboots.
Update from SD Card Update.pkg.
Let the phone restore/upgrade.
It will be fine after it reboots.
If you update 351 from the dell site, you dont need to flash any recovery.

Dell Streak 5 ,,Ant-War" Problem

Hello!
Since yesterday i´ve a problem with the Streak 5.
It didn`t boot right.
Theres just after the dell logo the ,,Ant-War" screen (see in the picture).
I've tried everything.
Flashing the original Rom / recovery ,.... QDL repair-tool ,....
I hope you can help me !!!
mammut
same thing happened to me, turned out the ribbon cable of the screen didn't connect properly to the mainboard.
what worked for me was to release the cable(flipping that brown part what holds it).
whenever i had the ribbon cable properly attached and locked, it wouldn't work and i would have the same screen after the Dell logo.
only after i had unlocked the connector it would work.

in my opinion it's definitely not software related, because i had the same issue and tried everything software related(from changing roms, to QLD-repair tool with different roms, recoveries and trying to mess with fastboot).
only thing that made a difference and worked, was to flip the brown thing of the connector on the mainboard, and i had to tape the ribbon cable to the mainboard to let it stay in place.
u could also test ofcourse the screen by going into fastboot and typing *#301#, and then 03 (color). if it gives a failure (TE Fail) or hangs, it's a hardware failure.
yes when i start up fastboot theres the message TE Fail ....
what can i do ?
Flipping up the clip didn't work
EDIT: I changed the LCD a few days ago
Pass the test

No touch screen calibration option !

Hi all,
I just got hold of another faulty streak only this one is partially working so im hoping to fix it. One issue im having is in the recovery menu of this particular streak there is no 'screen calibration' option, you know the white screen you get before you go into fastboot (camera + power). The calibration option is simply not there. I've seen a few streaks lately and they've all had this option so why does this one not have it, any ideas ?
Thanks

another way to show the screen calibration option is ... press power button until panel lights on... release it... when the dell logo shows up... press up + down volume button until it goes into recovery menu...
# 3 menu option should show screen calibration :good:

Thanks i found that option via recovery and the streak touch is working again now ... i just wondered why it wasnt in the bootloader menu (power + camera) as its the first streak i've found without the option, perhaps its an older streak model ?
The only older models I know of for the Streak are engineering units with purple cases and pre-release units in Android green.
Well i just updated another streak to the 407 rom and suprise suprise the touch calibration is gone from the bootloader screen. I'm certain it was there before flashing 407 so it must be something to do with the 407 update which is removing it. In other words it should be nothing to worry about .

Its running DSC v1.3 and the option isnt there. Will have to give longhorn a try to see if it comes back but im guessing its something to do with the official 407 updating the bootloader. Presumably i could flash an earlier stock rom and that would bring it back.

How odd. So its definately there on yours, in the white bootloader menu ? Did you flash 406 or 407 before DSC ?
My main streak is running an older DSC version, presuming DSC 1.0 and the calibration option is still there in the bootloader menu so im almost certain 406 / 407 are the culprits. Anyone willing to give it a try ?

I have the same problem too, when I go to Fastboot via pressing power+camera button simultaneously these days, I do not see the words "Touch calibration" anymore. It is missing now. I only realize it recently. I am concern that this might be due to some corrupt system files on my Streak 5, that might spread to other functions too, soon... will it? Does anyone knows about this? Or how to fix it?
Here my story. I apologies, sorry if it is a long one...
I only realize the missing "Touch calibration" words recently.
My Streak was recently stuck at Dell Logo on boot due to an app I install. I was trying to use this app that enable me to install ROM directly from the SD without going into the Recovery Mode (i.e. turn off phone, press up+down volume buttons and power on button simultaneously). Just click on this app menu to update to latest CWM and then click another menu to load a ROM to flash. That ended in disaster, really made my Streak to just stuck at Dell logo instead of flashing the intended ROM. When I remove the battery and put it back, I go to recovery mode. The CWM recovery mode was corrupted. If I am not mistaken, I was not able to go into Fastboot either. At that time, I was using 16GB innerSD when this happened. I replaced back my original innerSD 2GB, flash it with CWM and Longhorn 2.9.3. I was lucky it worked.
Next, I was searching for a way to update the baseband to 407 (GAUSB1A1406214-EU). My streak was on 347. As I understood, my Dell Streak suppose to use baseband 407 if I choose Longhorn 2.9.3 {{ Please correct me if I am wrong, I am still new at doing all these mod }} It took me almost a month to upgrade the baseband to 407, all end up with failure to upgrade/no change. I even accidentally downgraded my Streak to 305 after I flash AMSS and DSP1 which were in QDL folders I downloaded from XDA (Nobody's fault but mine). But I finally manage to do it, after reading someone feedback (sorry can't remember) that says, to go flash 350 ROM first since it region 14, before using auto-update menu on the Dell Streak to get to ROM 407 installed. I use 407 ROM for just a short while and then I flashed to Longhorn 2.9.3 using CWM recovery.
Like I said, I only realize it recently. So, in my case, it is either the 407 Recovery+ROM update or the Corrupted Flashing method that lead to the lost of the "Touch calibration" on Fastboot screen. Should I get this fixed?
EDITED:
After many times using QDL Tools, and upgrade to Stock ROM 407, I have CONFIRMED the "Touch Calibration" will disappear. No cause for alarm. It seems Dell removed the option from the Fastboot Mode screen on 407.

Did you try screen calibration in Recovery Mode? I read somewhere in xda-dev. about this, if my memory is correct... And I can't remember where I found it. Do it at your own risk...
Turn off your phone.
Clean your screen with just slightly wet tissue or cloth, ensure to wipe it clean and dry.
Don't turn on your phone.
Press volume up, volume down, power on button simultaneously together. Don't let go until the Recovery Mode i.e. Black Screen with 4 options comes out.
Select Screen Calibration, and let it run, don't touch anything at all.
If I am not mistaken, the phone will booth up after that.
Best way is to use the search function in xda-dev, to find solutions given by Senior Members on this matter.
Goodluck.

Thank you for your reply. Tried Screen Calibration in Recovery mode thrice but no use. Any other solution?
Other instructions on the user manual :~
~ factory reset if device can't boot up
~ flash recovery & matching ROM if system is currupted
~ recalibrate screen (obviously you've done enough, but worth checking if your steps correct - see picture taken from User manual in DS5 SD folder)

I am using Window XP, so, I don't know about Win7. I am sorry, I cannot help you more. Perhaps senior members could help on this matter.
Other things that I can comment are:
When I use the QDLTool.exe from the QDL Tool folder, it did not work, i.e. it Failed.
So, I run the QDLTool.exe from the streakflash folder first. I get it pass.
Then, I run the QDLTool.exe from the QDL Tool folder. Then only it can pass.
At one time, my innerSD is so corrupted that I have to remove it and erase everything on it, then I put it back in and run both QDLTool.exe as I mention above. I erase the innerSD using USB Image Tool 1.59, which I get from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31067359&postcount=2

[Q] Atrix 4G Keeps Rebooting

My son was trying to put a different ROM on his phone and about half way through it crashed. The phone now just keeps rebooting.
Tried the Power on / Vol down to try to get to android recovery, but it just goes blank. All other options cause the phone to just reboot and I try again (like a fool).
Is there any hope for me to get this phone working or is it now a paperweight?
Let me know if you need more information. I will provide what I know.
Thanks,
Jim

Sounds like a bootloop. Did you look here?
I've had this happen when I attempted to flash my Atrix with the battery less.than 50%.charged. I was able to get it to boot up (after flashing 2.3.4 sbf via RSD) but it just rebooted itself every 2 mins. My warranty was up but, I went on Motorola's website and after using their troubleshooter, they gave me a reference number and address to mail in my device for repair. In about a week I got the phone back. I think they gave me a different device because I can now run 1.6 GHz OC kernels without my phone overheating. Good luck......
