Your mean is you want to backup data in your device?
I think you can use an application named Titanium Backup.
I have no authority to send links. You can search it on the Internet.:silly:

On device as root
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/sdcard/factoryfs.rfs
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/zImage
On pc, put those two files (from /sdcard) in a tar archive.

Would the terminal Emulator do this correctly?

Yes, as long as you run su to give you root access.

Thanks! I will try in a few to see how this goes.
Would this save my account information, WiFi passwords, etc?

No. That just saves your rom and kernel. For backup purposes, you will need mmcblk0p10 (efs - your wifi and bluetooth addresses), mmcblk0p14 (dbdata), and mmcblk0p16 (/data). mmcblk0p17 is your media/downloads/whatnot, but obviously you cannot copy it into itself. I just don't know the appropriate names for an Odin tar.
And in case you were wondering, partition 1 is an extended partition holding everything else, 2-4 are not used, 5-9 are for the bootloaders, 12 is a backup kernel, and 15 is cache.

You're really helpful and insightful, thank you for your time!
Last question, sorry for being a novice. But.. once I am done with the terminal Emulator, save it as a tar.md5 file and it'll be flashable on odin?

No problem.
You will need to transfer the two files to your computer, and use a tool like 7-zip to add them to a tar archive. The tar file's name should not end in .md5, or Odin will expect it to have extra data that isn't there.

I get a failure whenever I attempt to flash with Odin.

It should be factoryfs.rfs.

7-Zip is renaming it.

Tried for a third time, and got this error..
Code:

<ID:0/008> Odin v.3 engine (ID:8)..

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Maybe it's that I don't have PARAM, SBL, and BOOT?
Doing further testing I believe its my player acting up.

I think its because you did something with the PIT or the re-partiton section in Odin. Check if these areas are untouched. The box next to PIT should be left blank, and the re-partition checkbox should be left unchecked.
Of course, I may be wrong, I'm a newbie myself. :/

the pit and the repartition was untouched
Its common to see this if u tried to shift between a CM7 based ROM and the stock ROM. U will need to put your phone in download, add pit and other files, tick re-partition and flash the stock ROM. Then u will be able to boot normally.
I think there is a problem with the rom, maybe download problem, or it's not suitable for your mobile.

[Q] Unable to load stock firmware (US Cellular)

My phone has gone into emergency recover and I've tried to recover it by flashing it with both "Odin" and the samsung "SimpleUpgradeTool" but it has failed everytime I've tried it.

[Q] Clockwork mod not taking

Hi,
I am trying to install a custom ROM on my phone. I have the i9300 version and I am following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-clockworkmod-touch-6-0-3-2-gt-t1719744
I am using the version attached, even though it looks a little old. I have done nothing to the phone before this so it is a stock OS.
I have booted in to download mode and flashed using odin, Odin says everything went ok and does a restart:
<ID:0/008> Added!!

After this I try to boot in to recovery mode and it is not the version I see on the video and there is no touch. The Rom I choose will then not install correctly. I guess that its not the clockwork mod, any idea on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
-Howard
In the end of the guide there is:
"Stock Recovery being reflashed after a reboot?..."
May be You have stock recovery after reboot?
And have You tried Samsung toolkit? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/samsung-galaxy-s3-unified-toolkit-v8-0-t1703488
Hi,
Just tried that, same issue. It's like it can't get root. No errors thrown and odin seems happy and reports it's "passed"

[Q] Odin: Stuck at NAND Write Start

Hey everyone
Having read many threads on this issue I would appreciate help for my specific case. I got a defective device from a friend that wouldn't start anymore (introductory Samsung animation was playing repeatedly). I then tried to flash "GT-I9100_JB_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.2.9" to eventually install CM 10.1.3 and then factory reset to make sure the brick bug is not an issue. However, I was not able to flash CWM, because it gets stuck at "NAND Write Start" and eventually fails (see below). Interestingly, I flashed another i9100 flawlessly only a few days ago with the exact same setting. Nonetheless I tried different Odin versions as well as different usb ports and cables.
I have no idea what kind of kernel or android version was running on the device and I can now only get into download mode.
When reading this guide I came across two problems. First, flashing a kernel - some other thread recommended "Siyah-s2-v5.0.1" - was unsuccessful. Second, I wasn't sure if I should try to flash the ICS version mentioned in this thread.
Some mentioned falling back to flashing PIT-files, but because recovery mode is not available, I cannot use the "emmc partition scanner" to identify the correct PIT-file to flash.
I would really like to save this device, so someone else may enjoy using it again in the future. Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers
sNiXx
