I have a samsung galaxy note II through Sprint. I noticed that when I go through the settings of the google now widget it states, "Google Now is turned off for your domain. Your admin may be able to turn it on". I called Sprint IT and they had never heard of such a problem, they had me do a factory reset of my phone, which did not help. The Sprint employee then called Samsung while I was on the line. We were told by Samsung that because it was an Android issue, that we would have to call Google. We attempted that, but google was closed. I was wondering if anyone here knew what the problem could possibly be.
I understand Google Now can be turned on and off by going through the settings after google search app has been opened, but this is not the case. When I go through the settings and click on the option where google now is normally turned on and off, it doesn't open anything, it just says it's disabled.
Notes:
Settings->Locatoin Services->all three options are checked (use wireless networks, Use GPS satellites, Location and Google search)
Android Version 4.1.1
Google Search Version 2.2.10.546669

Hi Everyone,
I can't see to get any of the location services to work.
All three services are on but none of the apps that uses location seems to get a hold of the location.
For example, in google maps it says "Your current location is temporarily unavailable".
None of my android phones has had this problem.
Thanks.
Download an app called gps status and toolbox. Let that app run. You can use it to reset a-gps info, then download sat info (in the manage a-gps menu).
Let the app run until it gets a good lock. You may need to tap the screen to keep it from timing out while it is getting a lock.

Mine was the same when I got it. Factory reset and all is well now.

I tried using GPS tools with no success.
Also I would hate to factory reset.
Any other suggestions?
I am having the same problem

So using the GPS status and tools app, I can get a lock when I am outside.
However, when I am indoor else where I am not locatable, which seems to indicate that GPS does work but Google location service and/or VZW one don't work.
I am going to give it a factory reset.
Mine didn't work at first either. I turned all 3 services off rebooted then turned all 3 back on and rebooted again. Its been working fine since then.

Click to collapse
This worked wonderfully.
Thanks.
I've seen the same issue on and off, just to add further to str8upx's answer, a reboot is all it took to fix for me (wasn't necessary to turn services off first).
Just wanted to update, while a reboot does "fix" the issue, it's not a solution. The issue does come back.
Turn off Verizon services and leave on google services, reboot the phone and try it.
I've banged on this all morning. So far, this has worked for me.
Settings > Location > enable all 3.
then
Settings > Apps and Sync > Google > Location > make sure both are checked.
then
Settings > Apps and Sync > Google > Maps & Latitude > Location Reporting > Detect your location. (I am not a Latitude user and have all the other location sharing stuff turned off.)
Finally
Open Browser > Menu > Settings > Privacy & security > Enable location > check Enable Location
AND THEN REBOOT.
So far so good. Maps hasn't been unable to locate me again and the browser can get my location.
I had the same issue when I first got my Droid DNA. Location services would not work for me whatsoever (weather, maps, etc.) As soon as I got home and connected to WiFi, location services started working. My wife, who got her Droid DNA at the exact same time as I did, never had this problem.
Once I connected to WiFi and location services started working, I haven't had any problems.
Not sure what the logic behind it is, but try connecting to WiFi if you haven't already.
Hi folks. Havin an issue with my VZW S4. When i go into an app that uses gps (ie ingress) the gps won't initiate. if i toggle it on and off it turns on and locks immediately. Its done this 3 times now in the past few weeks, i've factory reset twice which fixes it and it just did it again. I've cleared data on ingress, maps and google search, trying to think of anything that uses location. i'm getting tired of setting up my phone again, any ideas? Thanks.
So figured out the issue. Its something with google play services. I went into the location menu and guess i just never noticed that google play services was down in the list of recent apps to use location. When the gps issue starts, if i go in and clear data on google play services, the gps kicks back in in a second or two. So not sure why, but thats the app thats causing it. At least i don't have to do a factory reset anymore when it happens. sigh.
Was this stock Rom, or custom Rom?
I have a Huawei Honor X1 (503L version B007) and live in northern Europe.
I noticed that, although I have turned on the settings to share my location, I can't see my device in Google Dashboard.
In the past weeks there is one moment An hour or so at 03:00 AM that my phone shows up in Google dashboard, but that's all.
Also my weather apps do not seem to find the location I am at or take a long time to switch to the correct location (time to check is set to a low interval).
GPS works fine. Internet through WIFI and data connection work fine and calling or receiving calls is no problem either.
I have tried reinstalling some Google play services with a GPS spoofer installed and all that but it doesn't seem to help.
I read about the 503L, because it's meant for the Asian market, has a different frequency for cell towers. Could this be the problem for the apps not being able to locate my device?
Are there Google services I should have installed for this service to work? (I have Playstore, Google now, mail and sync).
Is there a ROM (being) developed that i could use to 'Europeanize' my phone? (base language English, Google apps installed, frequency correction etc.)
I think there are various issues with this phone. I have the 7D-501U and I note that it too does not properly keep the location up to date. It also fails to run various services at startup, despite them being marked as "allow to run at startup". They can also get shut down if started manually. Basically, I think Huawei has been too aggressive with their power saving tricks.
Hi,
If I'm the wrong forum I apologize and would be happy if directed to the proper one.
Androids newer versions have changed the 'GPS' button into a 'Location' button which now offers 3 options for determining your position (recording wifi router information and comparing it to a google database, using the devices GPS, and doing both) each of those options prompt a disturing and annotying popup each time you turn the GPS on, "advising"/badgering the user into sharing his information with Google.
The only solution which I found to this popup problem (without installing any 3rd party apps or rooting the phone) involves disabling the Google Play Service- that however created something strange which I'm not sure about... If previously the user could choose which way of locating he wants and the device remembered it- now every time the GPS is turned on it is automaticlly goes into "local device&wifi tracking" mode (the first option).
I want to know if a)Does the device indeed monitors that information (even if it can't send it anywhere with google services being disabled)? b) any way to stop it? c)can this default be changed so that only the local GPS chip will be used?
Thank you very much!

Keywords, Call and SMS Message continuity problems and solutions.
Yes it worked flawless at Android 9 at my Tab S5e, then the following happened.
Both my phone and the Tab S5e got a firmware update, the Tab S5e to Android 10. At this time I tried everything to get Call and Message continuity working again. But nothing worked.
* First I removed and disconnected all phones and this tablet from my Samsung Account, I recommend that you too do that first. ( You see after for example a factory reset you get multiple accounts for a same device, so solve this first, remember your password and have your phone reachable for SMS verification for when you connect all devices again.
* Second, I assured nothing was wrong with the home router internet, by factory resetting it. A lot of work, but still didn't work.
* Third, although everything worked for perhaps an hour, it would simply stop.
Now you want to know what in my situation was the cause and actual solution:
*** When I received firmware updates, I also installed the COVID 19 app that is different from country to country, ( Holland here ). This turned out to be the cause.
At day I enable from Google Settings the COVID 19 app tracking over Bluetooth other people that you meet and see in case one has COVID 19.
But this is the solution, at evening I disable in Google Settings the COVID 19 app since I then don't meet people anymore.
It turned out that when in Google Settings the COVID 19 app tracking is enabled, the Call and SMS Message Continuity is simply not working, ( in this country Holland here at least. ).
So the COVID 19 tracking app unfortunately here was the cause, this took me weeks to figure out, I had COVID 19 app tracking over Low Energy Bluetooth simply running all the time.
Conclusion: Follow these instructions if you experience these problems with Call and SMS continuity.
I think the by Google supplied COVID 19 tracking option does something with the phone its identifier and ironically, the time it works fine is equal to the time that a device rotates Bluetooth Keys to other phones from people having the anti corona app installed.
Good luck troubleshooting if it doesn't work.
One more thing, Call and SMS continuity is in advanced settings, but it is named a little different than the English term in this forum though. And if you cannot find it you probably have Verizon firmware that doesn't have it at all.
EDIT: Update at 2020 month 11 day 28, November 28 2020
The following seemed to resolve.
I got a firmware update for Tab S5e with revision: T720XXU1CTK1
I also downloaded in google play store a program that redirects you to the latest google Play Service Framework
I would recommend to update to latest google Play Service Framework.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kyumpany.playservicesupdate
That will only make you sure you have the latest google framework.
You can find it with ' Play Services Update - Update to the latest '
Then you will be getting the official latest google play service framework. Reboot all your devices. And the problem I had and probably others is no more.
It now works again as in the past.
Speculation: I do not have to disable the covid app anymore, it can run fine without the first guide mentioned things. The covid app is part of Google Play Service Framework. But I think the latest firmware update for Tab S5e might also be why it now is finally working.
This procedure took 2 months at least to be sure to be solved. Let us hope something like Covid never happens again.
Pull down the status bar, in the quick toggles you see a little phone icon, by default at the 2nd quick toggle page. Move that quick toggle to first page by rearranging the quick toggles. Every time you connect your tab s5e with wifi you have to reactivate call and message continuity with that quick toggle so you need it manually a lot. Then both calling and sms work flawless. Until you disconnect wifi. If you don't manually quick toggle after connection with wifi you will only receive missed call notice or SMS only.
It's a workaround.
Tab s5e Android 11 came over air. Call and message continuity did no longer work. Did factory reset of Tab s5e. Still didn't work with exception of SMS.
Solution turned out that in the mobile phone my Galaxy S8 something must be done.
It's called Reset Network Settings.
This is what it made it work, had to do this in my Galaxy S8.
Go to your mobile settings menu by sliding down the status bar:
After that choose Main Menu and Settings.
Navigate the list of settings tap General Management and Reset.
In the next step select Reset Network Settings.
Read the information in front of you and choose Reset Network Settings one more time.
Don't forget to setup Call and message continuity again. It should work.
This might be necessary after every firmware updates for mobile or tablet.
