Step 7 - Now go into Fastboot Mode on Nexus 10. How? Press Volume Down + UP + Power key for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen.
Step 8 - Navigate to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt).

Step 10 - Once completed, choose RECOVERY MODE from the Fastboot menu and enter Recovery Mode.
Step 11 - Then scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the Power button to select it.
Step 12 - Press the Power button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.
Step 13 - Now using your volume keys, navigate to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should start now.
Step 14 - After the installation completes, go to “+++++Go Back” and reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu. Then Choose yes flash recovery back (this will make CWM your permanent recovery mode)
That’s it. Your Nexus 10 is now rooted on Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 software version of Jelly Bean and even has a custom CWM recovery installed. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.

I think you have to unlock your device first. Then you can easily install your custom recovery

how do I install TWRP now?
never mind was trying to flash a .TAR file this wayyy... figured it out. need a .img

Use the nexus 10 toolkit
Side Load via adb,
then re run the everything script in toolkit.
Worked like a charm for me, however, I did have to reflash back to my first backup, to be on stock 4.2.1 with stock kernel

hope this one works :fingers-crossed:

I followed your method and got:
1.- Clockworkmod E:can't mount /sdcard/
2.- System stuck at Nexus X logo
What do I do now?
[update]
1.- Got factory image: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantaray
2.- Ran "flash-all.bat" from the tgz
3.- Flashed recovery-twrp-2.4.2.0-manta.img
4.- TWRP asked if I wanted to install SU, I said yes
5.- Happy days.

Sorry if this has already been asked and I'm not understanding it.
I bought my mom a Nexus10 and it's missing some Indian fonts on it. I saw I need to flash on a fontpack to add them.
The tablet is totally stock, on 4.2.2..
Do I need to unlock the bootloader first (which wipes all the data) and then do the steps from the 1st post?

This whole process is not working for me. I am in windows 8 and it just doesnt let me install sdk nor even ask me to install drivers. Can you suggest what is the possible way out? I am unable to move ahead due to these issues :/

Root failed.
I followed all instructions (I have successfully rooted a number of smartphones and the Nexus 7 before this). The end result is that the Nexus 10 is unlocked, but hangs on bootup with just the X showing. I can't go into Recovery mode (I just get the Android lying on his back with an exclamation point showing and eventually it tries a normal boot - as far as the X).
I can't try Restart Bootloader as this, too, leads to just the X and hangs. I have reset the tab (power + down volume) and also have tried to reconnect the tab to the PC, which now does not recognize it, putting fastboot.exe and adb.exe out of reach. I think something might have gone wrong installing CWM, though it did boot up a couple of times after that with a couple of errors that passed by too fast to copy - before it started to hang. I never got a chance to put superuser on it as Recovery mode is out of reach. I tried a master reset the last time I got to Recovery Mode, but got several minor errors and now seem not to have ANY bootloader working. Short of sending the tab back to Google to have them restore a 'cherry' Android 4.2.2 (for a sum), I'm lost as to where to go next.
Any ideas?

I am absolutely new to this Android ROM installs on the phones. Though I decided to install this ROM I absolutely didn’t’ have any idea how to proceed. As a beginner I started doing the following in order.
Download and Keep the CM7 ROM
1. Downloaded Ba2F.zip to my laptop
2. Downloaded and Installed the Motorola USB drivers MotoHelper_2.0.53_Driver_5.2.0.EXE
3. Connect the Atrix and set the USB option on the phone to “USB Mass Storage”
4. Copy both BaTF.zip as well as the Extracted one to Phone internal storage as well as the Ext-SDcard on the phone
Download ROM Manager and Titanium Backup
1. Downloaded both from Android Market (ROM Manager Pro and Titanium Backup Free Version)
2. Both Apps won’t open because I had not ROOTED the phone
Root the Phone
1. I used “Pete's Motorola Root Tools.EXE” file to ROOT the phone
2. Followed step by step as mentioned here http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-root-motorola-atrix-4g-35233/
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
1. I used ROM Manager to do this as when you try to do anything in ROM manager it prompts to do this. The version of this is 5.0.2.0 ( I am not sure what is this for why we have to do this)
Unlocking the Bootloader
1. What I learned is, to unlock the bootloader, we have to first flash the phone with the SBF file
a. Installed RSDLite5.3.1.msi
b. Loaded the file 4547-fix-try2.sbf (Downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261)
c. Boot the phone with Power+volume UPPER key pressed till "Starting RSD protocol support" comes up
d. Connect to the Laptop and Hit Start button in RSD Lite Program
e. It Did Throw an error saying “FAIL” after showing the following message
i. Failed to boot: error 0x1000'( not word for word). There will also be a list of boot options like Fastboot, RSD, Recovery, etc. And it says Starting Fastboot Protocol
2. Then comes unlocking the phone
a. Though I had the previous error message, it still had the Fastboot Protocol loaded
b. I went to the FASTBOOT folder in command prompt of my laptop executed the following to unlock the phone which worked perfectly as I see the “Unlock” on the left hand corner when phone boots
c. fastboot oem unlock (it gave me the code) then I used the code to unlock
d. fastboot oem unlock #######
e. fastboot reboot
3. Installing the recovery IMG
a. I had downloaded the Recovery IMG file (recovery-atrix5.img) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
b. Booted the phone into Fastboot mode (turn off phone, hold power and volume down key until 'fastboot' appears then use volume up to select so it says 'starting fastboot protocol support').
c. From the CMD promnt and FASTBOOT directory I used fastboot erase recovery
d. Then I executed fastboot flash recovery recovery-atrix5.img (Note: I didn’t rename the file to recovery as suggested by some people)
e. Then gave fastboot reboot to restart.
4. Booting into Recovery mode (This is where I have the problem)
a. The phone is not booting into recovery it’s not going past the Android and yellow Triangle screen
b. I re-flashed the phone same SBF file (this time it was a success showed in the RSD Lite Program), re-installed the same IMG file after renaming to recovery.img
c. Also tried with a different IMG from the same link (recovery-blue-atrix5.img) but no luck
d. Also deleted the file install-recovery.sh from ./etc/ folder (bought the app root manager to delete the file) and then push the recovery.img, no luck
e. Some people said to TAP the bottom right corner while on that screen, did that but nothing is happening
f. Then I saw a note to press both the Volume Keys at the same time, this works but in this mode the cursor (I mean the selection) on the phone doesn’t go to the First TWO (i and iii) shown below, it allows me to select any of the last FOUR (v, vi, vii, viii).
i. Android System Recovery <3e>
ii. <EMPTY LINE >
iii. Android System Recovery utility
iv. <EMPTY LINE >
v. Reboot System now
vi. Apply update from sdcard
vii. Wipe data/factory reset
viii. Wipe cache partition
g. Using the above option I did factory reset but sill no results.
5. Current condition of the phone
a. It boots in unlock mode and I can do all the daily tasks. But I want to install the CM7 ROM that’s my requirement
PLEASE HELP HELP HELP
First of all, I applaud your effort in giving the a very comprehensive description of your issue.
Second, it seems you are having issues with installing a custom recovery because the recovery you're describing is still the stock recovery. I'll look around and see if I can find something that might help.

Have you tried re-installing the CWM from RomManager through RomManager? And then boot into recovery from within the app?
---------- Post added at 11:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 AM ----------
EDIT: This might seem trivial, but is "USB Debugging" turned on?
You are the Man, I just flashed the same CWM 5.0.2.0 and i am in the recovery mode. This gave me an error when i did last time hence i didn't try again.
Thanks a bunch
Glad I can help, also, I think it's recommended to use the RomManager recovery for CM7 so good thing it worked.

Oops.. started again, Can i use the recovery-atrix5.img and ROM manager flash it? if yes, then how?
I copy this file (after renaming to recovery.img) to both internal storage and SD card then what option should i choose in ROM Manager?
If you downloaded the CWM zip file for the romracer recovery and as long as RomManager's recovery is working then, yes, you can.

See post#2 from romracer's thread. Read the Miscellaneous part. Probably need to get rid of, or backup, install-recovery.sh.
He has mentioned he already did that. In his OP, under the steps he took look at "Booting into Recovery Mode" - 4.d, he says he removed it.
Maybe he's not doing it in the right order? Do you happen to know which should be done first as far as installing recovery and removing said file?

Woops, I should have read more carefully. It's best to remove the file first and then flash the recovery.img, or else the script will install the stock recovery on boot. That would make stock recovery the current one on the phone at the time of the script getting deleted.
I would double check and make sure /system/etc does not have install-recovery.sh. If it is not there, then proceed to the fastboot steps and reflash the recovery.img again. It should stick this time.
@Ghost, yes i deleted the file multiple times however i didn't find the /system/etc folder on the Internal Storage. however I found the install-recovery.sh file under /etc folder. The thing i observed that whether i flash it with a new CWM or not if i reboot the phone then it was created by itself.
@Live4nyy, Thanks for your suggestion, I could able to install CM7 now and it looks awesome good so far, but looks like i need to install Google Apps separately to access the APP market, am I right?
The only thing that happens to me is, it allowed me to go to Recovery only ONCE after i Flashed it thru ROM Manager, if i exit out of recovery without doing anything then next time tried to go to Recovery, it will struck at the same old Android screen and i had to flash it again. But Many thanks for suggesting to flash it thru ROM Manager.
Now with CM7, under ROM Manager (I guess this comes default with CM7) I see there is no version listed under "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery" and it says i must have to install it in-order to Flash and restore ROMs, do i need to do that? I can go to Recovery mode after reboot without any issues. Please Advise.

I just checked out my girlfriend's stock, locked, unrooted Atrix and she actually has install-recovery.sh in both /etc and /system/etc. Her file manager does not alphabetize anything in either folder, so I almost overlooked the second one.
If you're already on CM7, then you probably won't need to worry anymore. They have an entirely different set of start up scripts in that folder. Welcome to the community!
At this point I do not know enough to help you any further with this issue. All I knew about is the file that needs to be removed that @ghost_og has mentioned. But if you can flash it from RomManager and access CWM from there as well then I guess that's a good enough workaround for now.
Does anyone else have any idea why the stock recovery cannot be removed?

I am good to go now, everything seems to be functioning well after flashing CM7 ROM, no more recovery issues, and the Stock recovery is gone now.
Appreciate for all the info you guys provided, it helped a lot. Have a great day and Merry Christmas.

[Q] Noob here, just need a little guidance.

Just some things before we start. My Phone is the P769 and I'm a total noob.
Alright, I rooted my phone yesterday and then proceeded to download CWM, the app of course. So, when I went to setup a custom recovery, I picked from the options they had their, to which I picked the P760. Low and behold, I found it was a horrible failure when I rebooted into recovery because I got the security error...I think I soft-bricked it? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I just downloaded the LGSupport Tool and eventually fixed it.
So I think my question is, where can I get a custom recovery for the P769? Am I supposed to be looking for that in the first place? As you can see, I'm quite lost.
Is your bootloader unlocked?

Do you want custom recovery to flash themed stock roms or custom rom (like cm 11) cause for the latter you need to unlock bootloader first

I have the cm 11 rom file and the gapps file. I just can't find the correct recovery on Rom manager to reboot into so I can install the files
You will first have to unlock your boot loader in that case, follow all the instructions from the first ONLY: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601480
Then, do the follwong:
1. Have one of the recoveries from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/development/p769-recoveries-p769-mirror-issues-t2879854, CM11 and the required G.Apps on your SD card.
2. Navigate (use a mirror if needed) through cwm, restore your choice of #1, and reboot into recovery again from the cwm (Under "advanced")
3. The new recovery should look different and not be mirrored, but the touch will be wonky, don't worry. Flash the CM11 and G.Apps. Do NOT reboot yet.
4. Then flash "cwm_ts_fix_p769.zip". reboot
Done!
I might get to writing a guide after my experience doing the exact same and getting my head around it for the past 2-3 days, but I have a very busy schedule, so I cna't promise anything. Besides, kuma82's guide is excellent.

First off, thank you sooo much. I got this far but right now I'm super confused. How do I restore? Is there an option to restore? Can you explain it to me a bit more specifically if you can?
Also, I didn't know I needed a literal mirror lol.

Sorry for the vague instructions, first, let me ask, is your phone successfully unlocked? Got that fastboot menu on the phone somewhere along the process? Or you can try connect in SW DL mode (Power off phone, hold Vol+ and plug in USB, should see "Unlocked bootloader").
If yes, then you should be on the European 20B with mirror screen and wonky touchscreen, follow the below instructions:
1. Have one of the recoveries from the link I posted AND CM11 (I am using dhiru's version) AND G.Apps AND cwm_ts_fix_p769.zip on to your external SD.
2. Run Start.cmd, push files (Fix_Touch-V20F.zip & MetroPCS-V10E-Radio.zip) to External SD using kuma82's tool
3. Install BusyBox and reboot into the inverted CWM recovery
4. Navigate (use a mirror if needed) through CWM, flash the recovery of your choice AND choose to reboot to recovery from within the recovery
5. (CWM should not be inverted now). Install the files in the given order without a reboot in between:
a. CM11
b. G.Apps
c. Fix_Touch-V20F.zip
d. Recovery you flashed in step 4 - This is critical, as Fix_Touch-V20F.zip installs an older recovery which may cause soft-brick, thus you need to install the recovery again
e. cwm_ts_fix_p769.zip[/INDENT]
6. Reboot

Alright, I kinda softbricked on step 4. I believe my bootloader is unlocked since I'm in CWM, right? I'm going to start from the top again, but I have a bit more confidence this time around.
On step 4 of flashed "CWM 6.0.4.8 No-Touch for P769" and then rebooted in recovery, the option under advance and got a secruity error, or a soft brick...same thing I believe. I dunno what I did wrong.
Check if your are unlocked, try going into software download mode.
Alright, when I go into SW DL, it doesn't say unlocked bootloader, it just shows what it normally shows. But I have the mirror screen and wonky touchscreen...did I miss a step or something? I did everything I believe.

There are steps missing after step 3 you need to flash radio in the inverted recovery and then reboot and the tool and run the unlock command after 45 minutes and press vol + to unlock and then flash a recovery while you're phone is still in fastboot mode (this is the mode your phone is in after you press the vol + to unlock) by using the command fastboot flash recovery (insertrecoveryname).img
Alright, after I push both files to the sd card, I try to install the radio zip, but it fails. Does the problem lie there in?
Wait, did you follow everything from the first post in this thread as I mentioned earlier: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601480
If yes, then what happened after step 8?
Once you do that, THEN you have to do what is outlined in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/general/noob-little-guidance-t2878048/post55588776

Is there honestly something that should be different? Because, when I press the option to unlock the bootloader, it just reboots and what...almost identical with the results of step 6.
Am I playing with my phone wrong? What am I really supposed to do to it for 45 minutes...I want to say there in lies my problem.
Excuse me as I head to class with super inverted phone, lol.
Yes, you have to wait about 45 mins as mentioned in the step, that is why we said follow it to the T.

[SOLVED] Bricked + Formated my Honor 7. Need a ROM

Hey guys,
I've had a total of 4 android smartphones during the last years, and I did root all of them and even install diferent ROM's, but on this phone (Honor 7) was kinda diferent.
The root process is way more complex than all the other androids I did root (simply flash a .zip file...) so I've been post-poning this task over and over..
Finally yesterday I gained courage to try out rooting my phone, and while attempting to root my Honor 7, after flashing SuperSU from TWRP, my phone no longer booted.
Stressed as I was, I just told to myself "f*ck it" and formatted the system and I didn't care much if there was a fix without needing to format the system. (but then I realised that I could not find any .img ROM files to flash from TWRP recovery, so basically I did my actions wrong once again)
I followed the tutorial from guidebeats.com which talks about rooting EMUI 4.0 Android 6.0 (I cant post links)
Basically this is the story:
While unlocking the bootloader, even though, the tutorial said the phone would reboot itself after typing "flashboot oem unlock 1234934829" I did a hard reboot (or reset?) holding (VOL+) + Power button and I have the feeling that the bootloader unlock was not 100% done, even if it said it was unlocked. (Phone was working perfectly fine there)
Then I flashed SuperSU, and I could no longer boot. After powering up my phone, after the first splashscreen, the screen would only turn black.
What (I think) I need to now is remove the TWRP recovery, and use the stock one and attempt to install an "update" using (Vol+) + (Vol-) + Power. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
But now there's some issues I got that I'd like some help with:
1- How can I get back to the stock recovery? (NOTE: I currently got no OS installed on my Honor 7, since I formated it)
2- Will I need to lock and unlock my bootloader again (if I want to 'fix' the bootloader unlock?)
3- Where can I get official Honor 7 stock ROM? (would be awesome if there was already the Android 6 stock rom for a clean install)
4- What are the steps on this tool (Honor 7 Multi-Tool) to root my phone?
I need my Honor 7 asap
Sorry for the long post, It's my first time doing a more advanced root and I have all these questions.
Thank you very much for any kind help!

As you are already familiar with adb and other stuff so will write a short post for you.
To download latest firmware, head to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...tock-firmware-packages-honor-7-t3448747/page1
Google, download and install Huawei update extractor and open UPDATE.APP in it (obtained after extracting firmware).
You can see all the images. Just extract recovery and boot to platform-tools folder.
Meantime, do the unlocking command again, with
Fastboot OEM unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Followed by fastboot reboot
And press and hold the vol down button again until you reboot in bootloader.
Flash the recovery and boot you extracted using
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
(I got a habit of extracting and flashing system and Cust using
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash Cust Cust.img
But they are not necessary)
Now you are set to try a 3 button update (sometimes it gets stuck so if it's stuck for 15 minutes, try 3 button again).
Please do report back if it comes to life.
To root, just flash twrp and then use SuperSU 2.62 (no other version) and update it later using play store.

Hey!
Thank you alot for your reply.
From the link you sent about the firmwares, there are alot of Builds for the L01 (EU) model. Can I simply use the latest from the list or I gotta install 1 by 1 (from older to newer)?
Also, the bootloader unlock thing, is it ok if I wait to do it until I install the stock ROM again? Because I think I don't have the code anymore (Also don't know about IMEI)
Other thing, yesterday before bricking my phone, I tried to re-unlock the bootloader as you said above, but it didnt let me because "it was already unlocked".
I really have no idea if it's 100% unlocked or not.
important thing!
With those ROM's, I still have the right to receive official OTA updates from the HiCare app right?
Thank you again

Just use B380 as it's the latest full firmware available there.
Unlocking bootloader again was just a precautionary measure (proceed without it and if it is not 100% unlocked and if something goes wrong, we can troubleshoot later, which imo, won't happen)
And yep, if you keep the firmware as it is, but if you flash twrp and root, you will still see the update available in Hicare but will have to install stock recovery again before upgrading. (Nothing else is needed as SuperSU 2.62 gives a systemless root so you only need to flash back stock recovery for an update)
I am not against honor-tool bit it's best to do things manually as it makes you learn stuff and is easy to troubleshoot if something is amiss.

Alright, btw, about the thing you said
"Now you are set to try a 3 button update (sometimes it gets stuck so if it's stuck for 15 minutes, try 3 button again)."
I gotta do that myself with an "update.app" file or what?
Sorry, I missed that part
Cheers!

You have to make a dload folder in SD card and copy UPDATE.APP to that folder.
Then just turn off the phone, press and hold power + vol up + vol down until phone boots.
Let go of power but keep others two pressed for 5, 6 sec more. Your phone will boot into recovery and start installing UPDATE.APP
It likes to get stuck at 5% (most reports) but sometimes, somewhere else. If its stuck for 15 minutes on a particular percentage, just press and hold the above three buttons again using the same process.
Multiple tries make it work...

Hey man!
Good news, my phone is alive and root is done.
The problem was on the SuperSU that I flashed, it was version 2.71, instead of the one you said » version 2.62 «
I cant thank you enough!! Can I pay you a coffee?
Thank you!

That's great... Enjoy your phone and as for coffee, well, let's say, you owe me one and we will leave it at that
Better yet, you can search DigiGoon and pay him for the coffee, he taught me what I told you.
You can find him somewhere in this thread

Hello
How did you format your phone?
I'm still struggling with going back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 since there is no rollback file available. (PLK-AL10, B396) Maybe formatting and installing the old rom could be a solution, like in your case?

Hello.
Do you have unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery? You can format your phone from TWRP recovery.
I think the only option for you is to get the old ROM img and flash it (starting from 0)
You can dirty-flash (Flash a different ROM with same android version as yours, e.g: flashing custom android 5 ROM over your stock android 5 ROM without factory resetting your phone) but I dont think you can do that from Android 6 to 5.

Yes I have unlocked bootloader and currently not twrp but I can flash it at any time.
The last two paragraphs you wrote are different solutions or the last one is a more detailed explanation of the previous?
I have android 6 so the later method won't work as you said.
But formatting it and flashing a stock android 5 rom - is it that simple? Nobody here suggested this before, however I have been asking for months.
All the phones are empty when they leave the assembly line.
How did you flash the new rom to your formatted phone? Extracted update.app and flashed each file with fastboot? Any issues you faced?

From my last 2 paragraphs, the first was a solution, the second was an impossible alternative that I thought it would work.
My issue was that I had a custom recovery but I had no ROM installed, so I had to install the stock recovery and boot (extracting from update.app) and flashing it via fastboot, to afterwards force the update with 3-button method.
-----
What you'll need to do is:
- Flash TWRP
- Wype system, data, cache.. (so that you completely delete your current ROM)
- Extract recovery.img and boot.img from an update.app of an Android 5 ROM you'd like to have (Official ROM for your device model)
- Flash them via fastboot (You'll go back to stock recovery again)
- Shutdown your device
- Create a folder named "dload" on your sdcard and put UPDATE.APP file in it.
- Reboot
- Do the 3-Button update ([Vol+] + [Vol-] + Power)
- If it works, it will auto install
(- If it gets stuck on 5% for over 5/10min, force reboot pressing [Vol+] + Power) and try again the installation
- After installing it will boot normally (first boot takes a while)
NOTE: I'd recommend creading the dload folder before wiping the ROM, because usb didnt work for me afterwards. (It would still work if I was on recovery tho)
>> Remember to make a full system backup before wiping aswell, dont be stupid like me xD (thats why I had to full wipe my system after soft-brick)
Im answering based on what I did and was explained here to me

Hi again,
I'm doing this OS installation now. It starts fine but stucks at 90%, (I'm trying to install the latest stock ROM which can be downloaded from Huawei site, B220 or221). Did you have the same issue? I waited more than half an hour at 90% but did not go on.

Maybe formatting, Flash stock Android 5 recovery using Honor multitool , and then Flash a Android 5 firmware
Not sure it Will Work without rollback..
Finally, after 2 months of struggling I managed to get back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 without a rollback file.
Here is what I did:
0. Download a full ROM you want to install
1. Backup of the current system with Hisuite (everything. Apps, media, contacts, call log, etc.)
2. Flash TWRP recovery with fastboot (start phone in fastboot mode)
3. Wipe (and format!) everything you can with TWRP
4. Extract boot.img and recovery.img from update.app of the new ROM with Huawei Update Extractor
5. Flash boot.img and recovery.img with fastboot.
6. Copy update app to dload folder on SD card, insert into the phone.
7. Restart phone with [VOL+] + [VOL-] + [Power] buttons to force update.
8. The system will be installed from SD card. I had no issues with the installation. First I did not format the phone (just wiped) and it did not work.
9. Restore data from backup.
The only strange thing is that the native app icons look different than my previous lollipop system. Don't know why. They are less colorful. I installed C00B220 for PLK-AL10.

Yes it does. (It did for me.) Technically this is not a rollback but installing a brand new system on an empty phone. That's why it is important to do a backup upfront.

Cubot cheetah root

Hi guys,
anyone know how to root this phone?
root on Cubot Cheetah 2
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...bot-cheetah2-information-reviews-5-5-t3509666
I flashed TWRP, attachted as rar file. I did it like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-clones-t3421539
Did you know that devices has build in recovery menu?!
It can only backup some user data for you
You can get into by pressing POWER and Volume+ for a few sec. while turned of tile boot.
Hold Volume + and press Power again.
***Do not press Volume down, it is "enter" in first recovery screen you maybe start fastboot or normal
***Volume + is for navigate in first recovery screen
Do not flash other super user as in thread... i did and had a heavy bootloop (;
hello
i cooked my 1st rom for a Cubot like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690.
Then i flashed it with the recovery. As installation stoped i got a message: "no os installed do you realy like to reboot?!"
So i cancel process to restore systemfiles which i backed up befor. *
But now all system app are gone and recover them with Titanium backup doesn´t work well. I also got those files from stock image and maybe most by another backup by root explorer. What to do right now?
Try to install my rom again? Via fastboot? Or flashing a clean stockrom i don´t know.
I´m uploading Cheetah 2 rom i cooked since hours, it is ~2gb
Maybe someone can look into it
My pc is to slow to run a emulator to test it. That´s why i try flashing befor posting download link dang

Any other?
Do you use same firmware as me? That very importat!
What doesn´t work for you?
Are you in develop mode, enable debugging or connected as android bridge?
I flashed today TWRP to another Cheetah 2! But this super user installation blow my mind and device!!! Installed chainfire (2.52) as in linked thread made my phone hang on cubot bootlogo. Then i downloaded SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521.zip and i pass the boot but now all system apps are gone again! Recovered it with my TWRP backup.
Thinking about retry 2.72 SuperSu which maybe was reason of bootloop on 1st cubot rooting :fingers-crossed:
Keep in mind to backup your whole system if you enter TWRP 1st time, befor installing SuperSu. Suggesting befor install TWRP make backup with stock recovery!
Maybe a video i made on that 2nd rooting procedure is helpful to you?

Do a websearch: "unlock bootloader adb" example
It is basicly same step as in ultimate MT6753 thread url = see me 1st reply
You just need fastboot.exe and your Cheetah running as adb device to install TWRP.
Make sure you got it installed Cheetah via ADB driver not as MTP device or else!
TWRP is same on cheetah 1 & 2 not 100% sure, maybe ask megathebest .
Alternative method:
adb.exe to unlock and
Sp flashtool with vCOM-driver installed
https://androidmtk.com/flash-stock-rom-using-smart-phone-flash-tool
https://androidmtk.com/install-android-cdc-driver-manually
Some links for you but you don´t need those files at the moment:

Another method to install TWRP is via update.zip but if you have to unlock oem via adb (minimal adb fastboot.exe) why manuel flash it.
How:
Rename twrp.zip to XXX-stock-rom name-XXX.zip place it at you internal memory boot into fastboot by power and volume button.
Ya, there are loads of tutorial on the internet about TWRP 3.1.1 For Cheetah 2 which means root is possible for the device running the latest Android OS.
Here is a guide which has shared the latest TWRP 3.1.1 with rooting guide

Any beginner friendly guides on unlocking bootloader and installing TWRP etc.?

Hey guys,
I'm still running the stock EUI ROM and getting pretty sick of it.
I've looked at getting my bootloader unlocked and installing TWRP but it seems pretty complicated for this device and what information I could find didn't work for me.
Can anyone show me some noob friendly guides on getting this done?
Much appreciated!
What?!? I never had a phone which bootloader unlocks easier than in Le Max 2. You have a special switch for that i developer options. That's all. Next you have to restart your phone in bootloader mode and flash desired recovery using fastboot commands.

Wow, I didn't know that's how you unlock the bootloader. Sorry like I said I'm not very familiar with this device yet. Thanks!
As far as using fastbood commands I tried that but the drivers didn't seem to work on my PC. I couldn't get any of that to work. But I'll keep trying.
If you have anything like Samsung Kies or HTC Sync, etc. installed on your PC, you might try to remove it and reinstall drivers using "15 seconds ADB installed".
i just posted this yesterday,. i guess i could have chosen a better title... do you have any suggestions?? (maybe "full guide: adb, fastboot, twrp recovery, backup, flashing"?????)

@thielek what windows do you have? I can suggest something if you have win7, for win10 you can find a guide in some other threads.

Hey, this looks really good!
Thanks I will definitely give it a read and try to get this sorted. I'm pumped to get that CM 14.1 ROM when it gets a few more of the bugs sorted.

No, actually you need to disable the signature verification if I recall it right. I can't find the thread for win10 driver installation right now but for sure I have seen it on xda for LeMax2
Here is the tuturial for noobs (I was noob too and I wrote it for people like me):
Here is the quick tutorial for users like me:
1. Enable USB Debugging
2. Connect phone to the computer
3. Unzip this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862669609 and run LE_X2_fastboot.exe
4. Wait until it say "Press any button to reboot phone" and just press random button
5. Your phone will boot into system
If you want change to China 21s with SuperSU, you just have to:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Press VolumeUp + Power button - it's gonna boot you to TWRP
3. You can now upload the 21s.zip and SuperSU-v2.78...zip files to your phone from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-m...a-rom-t3492640
4. On your phone go to Whipe and whipe all data (swipe blue arrow)
5. Go to Install and choose 21s.zip and wait - when it ends it's gonna boot you to the system
6. Turn off your phone and again boot to Recovery (VolumeUp + Power button)
7. Choose Install and choose SuperSU.zip and there you are!
Now you're gonna have China 21s with root and SuperSu!

Wow! That fastboot program was amazingly simple. Thank you! How did I know find this before. The other guides are very long.
So that installed cuoco92's ROM as well as TWRP. Do you suggest using his ROM? That second link you provided in the next paragraph didn't work.
I was looking for a very clean and vanilla android like ROM. I hate EUI and am excited for that CM 14.1 build but it's not ready yet.
Thanks again very much!

The process I am aware of is
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Install twrp (or any custom recovery) in fastboot mod
3. Flash SuperSu zip to get root access.
Can you please explain in your tutorial the first paragraph can do this? I just want these 3 thing to do mentioned above. Thanks.

This 5 steps:
1. Enable USB Debugging
2. Connect phone to the computer
3. Unzip this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862669609 and run LE_X2_fastboot.exe

5. Your phone will boot into system
unlocks you Bootloader, installs TWRP and installs Cuoco92 with root and everything included.
You can install new ROM like 21s and just flash SuperSu zip to get it.

Buddy, I am still finding proper steps to flash twrp, so I can't guide you on custom roms.
Can you please give the steps those you followed in order to install twrp. Thanks
