[Q] What causes music to "stutter" when the screen turns on? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is a problem I've had way back since I first had my GS2. It seems to come and go, sometimes certain Roms don't have it, and sometimes they do. What on EARTH causes this issue?
Issue Example:
Music playing, lock screen, wait for a while...hear a text come through, press button to unlock screen and as it turns on the music stutters for JUST a second.
Very frustrating :[

Verizon Touch Pro Lock during phone call

Hello, I have been looking all day to find out how to lock the screen during a call.
I keep getting random things happening when I am calling… Hanging up, calling someone else, programs running… etc… Hanging up is the most common for me.
I would like to have the screen lock when connected but have the hardware keys still active so I can end the call. But I also need to be able to get to the keypad and other areas when on a call, but I would like to have to unlock the screen first.
Thanks!
Have you tried hitting the power button on top to turn off the screen during a call? then if you need to get to something you tap the power button again to turn on the screen again. Simple, effective.
That solution does not work with a bluetooth headset. When you disconnect your call via headset, the screen comes on even if the power button has been pressed.
I have S2U2, but I can't figure out if there's a way around this 'feature.'
You should try Throttle Lock. It locks the phone very well.

hard to explain problem in this title bar... please read.

when you listen to music and you then lock the phone, you can still pause and skip the song from the lock screen.
However the problem is that its locked the album cover and song i was last listening to the 'lock screen'. The buttons still apear as though i could skip the track but dont do anything.
Ive turned the phone off then ack on, and yes this appears to sort the problem, but then when i listened to my music again, same thing happened?
any thoughts?

[Q] CM7 Screen Temporarily (5-6 seconds) Black When Placing Call

Intermittently, when initiating a call, the screen goes blank/ black for 5-6 seconds, or longer, and does not wake up. During this time, the phone does not respond to any tactile or soft input, but ringing and other audio continues to emit from the earphone.
I do not have any sort of screen cover/ protection, or any other obtrusion to the proximity sensor.
This is extremely annoying, as sometimes, I would like to immediately hang up, or place the call on speaker, but cannot do either as no input registers.
Is this an isolated issue to me, or CM7 on the AT&T SGS2? I am not running any special apps or background services.
It 'feels' as if this is mostly caused by some sort of lag, as it does happen intermittently. i can't pin down a particular pattern during which this persists. Anyone else experience any similar symptoms?

this same issue is what made me drop cm7 and go to UnNamed
I had it and would just hit the power button to turn it back on.
Dropped this on their forums:

video wake up lag

Hello,
anyone is having this? (might not be a problem, just curiouse)
Open video player, start some video, then pause it and wait untill your devieces turns the display off.. Than wait for about 10 seconds and press the home button.
Before the lock screen comes up, you can see the video for one second. Whats that??
Are you using WidgetLocker or GoLocker by any chance?
no, nothing like that.
I tried the same, but the bug wasn't there.
What android version do you have? Did you stop the video and than wait untill your device locks... after lets say 15 seconds press home button for wake up and you should see the picture from video where you pause it..its very quick. I tried with different video players and its always there

Screen input delay after moving away from face

Ok, so lately I've noticed when I've had to call a few numbers that need me to Press 1, 2, 3 etc on the dialpad that I can't do it right away. When I put the phone to my ear, as I would expect the screen switches itself off. When I pull the phone away from my face the screen comes on again immediately, but there's about a 5-7 second delay before I can actually press anything. In those seconds after the screen comes on, it wont accept any touch input whatsoever. It's not delayed, presses I make during those seconds just aren't registered at all, then suddenly it begins accepting input as normal. It isn't just number keys either, it's the entire screen, so I can't press End Call until nearly 10 seconds after I've actually pulled the phone away from my face, nor can I move the phone away and press the Speaker Phone button quickly.
This only happens when the screen comes on after being against my face though. If the screen is just turned off and I press the power button, or double tap to wake, it accepts input immediately, so I don't believe it's a hardware problem.
Currently running 4.4.4 rooted, image was made from stock and pre-rooted prior to being flashed onto the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
yeah i've experienced this as well. doesn't happen on speaker though.
No, doesn't happen on speaker phone. If the screen goes off from that and I turn it back on then the screen responds immediately. It only seems to happen in cases where the screen auto shuts off due to it detecting that it's against your face.
