Delivery Reports in default messaging app - HTC Droid DNA

Why is there no way to disable the annoying delivery report notification in the status bar every time a message is received and just simply get the little checkmark on the bottom of the message bubble? I have tried third party messaging apps (Handcent, GOSMS, Chompsms, iphone messages) and the HTC Sense's compatibility is abysmal, it simply does not want to play nice. I called HTC and they were no help, nor was verizon. Any ideas?

You can turn it all off in message settings. There is no way just to get the check mark on stock Sense.

Yes, it annoys me too. But if you uncheck delivery report in the settings, there's no way of knowing if it was delivered... In earlier HTCs there was a check on the bottom of a message, without status bar notification.

so annoying! think theyll fix it in the new update?

are owhonot
installed update, issue still not fixed. dammit!

It shows a message icon at the bottom corner of the text when it's sending, it disappears when it's sent, watch for that, that's how I tell without the notification

But it only means it went out OK from your end. Doesn't mean it was received on the other end. That's the problem.

When is a text message not received? If it is sent it will go to their phone. If it is off it will be pushed when their device turns on.

Not receiving text messages...any help

Just started today but I receive text messages just not the notification meaning both sound and message icon not showing ...is there any help for this

Sound Manager from the market fixes audio issues like that, but you'll want to double check the settings menu of your messager. In the messager press menu, and make sure show notifications in status bar is checked.
If it is from your android desktop press menu, settings, applications, manage applications, the all tab and locate messager. Clear the data.
Go from there.

I've encountered it. I had to call att and they reset my voicemail. Icon went away but had to reset passcode. Prolly have to reset custom message if you have one as well.

[Q] Can I disable screen on when I receive an sms?

I hate how my screen turns on when I receive an sms message. I only need the notification icon in the taskbar and the led blink and if I disable the notifications from the settings the screen does not open but I loose the other notifications as well. Any ways to fix this?

Bump
interested in that too
Don't know if it's possible with the stock app, however if you're willing to use a 3rd party app, Go SMS does have an option to keep the screen off and quite possibly other apps do too.

switch to HANDCENT SMS, it is the best sms app, i am using it for a year now. Go to setting and disable pop-up. Now when you receive a message, it will vibrate, led will blink, but screen will not turn on. You will ses the message in the notification bar.

That's what I'm using right now but I want to minimize the use of third party apps as much as possible . Plus with handcent sms when I send a picture or video it doesn't work. I have to use the regular messaging app in order for my mms to leave successfully .

Still no solution for this one. I don't want to use handcent or go sms for two reasons. First I like the simplicity if the stock samsung app and second I use the direct call feature that only works with stock app. There must be a way to hack the default messaging app to stock opening the screen when receiving a message.

BUMP. This feature is sooooo annoying!!!!
It irritates me also. I've used Handcent on every device in the past, but I don't want to for some reason on this one. I actually rather like the stock messaging app.
I suppose I'll go back to Handcent. The screen on is annoying, plus it creates a temporary wakelock that drains the battery even more.

ICS messaging bug?

I've noticed a few times when I receive a message and try and open out from the status bar the app will load but nothing comes up in the window ( besides the Messaging app name at the top). Was wondering if this is an isolated case or common.

Same case here
I think its ICS bug

another issue I have is when I type an SMS, after a few characters I get a note saying "starting sms #2" or something like that, definitely didn't go above the 190 characters in the first text.
Do others experience this too ?
Out of the Thousands of sms that i received and opened (I've opened a lot of SPAM messages :crying the same way the OP has opened never even once did this case occur. And out of the a few hundred sms i've typed and sent never reached 190 characters, but never received the "starting sms #2" message ever.
By the way I'm on ICS.

Same case for me.
I have that same behavior on ICS on the Xperia ion. Looks like its common to Sony's build.

I'm not using stock Message app and didn't have this problem. You may want to change message app. Go SMS is a good one
