[TUT] Creating Custom Batteries for Simplistic Framework V3.5+ - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

I'll make this short, and straight to the point ..
Requirements:
Apktool
Command Line/Terminal slight knowledge
Battery Icons and the name of the original author of the icon
2 Minutes (Hopefully)
Click to collapse
The How-To:
Download the template battery from the attachments
Decompile it using apktool
Edit AndroidManifest.xml, look for (package="com.xxx"), and change that to a package name of your choosing.
DO NOT use the same package name, you have to change it for each battery you create.
Now go to /res/values/ and open strings.xml
Edit the Battery Name, the original author (Leave as Unknown if you don't know who created the battery) and the compiler name (your name)
Add your battery icons to /drawable-xhdpi/ (or /drawable-xxhpi if you have a bigger resolution icons) replacing the old ones.
Now build the apk using apktool, and sign it
Install the apk, choose the battery from the custom battery section in Simplistic Control, and you're good to go.
You are free to distribute it or even publish it on the PlayStore.

[RELEASED]REBOOT item[without framework-res.apk mod]

Finally, i did not have to modify framework-res.apk.
Because reboot icon is look like sync icon
It uses ic_popup_sync_1.png in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-mdpi.
Tested 2.1.1.A.0.6, it works well.
and 2.0.1.A.0.47. too
It works with(original se framework):
-2.1.1.A.X.X
-2.0.1.A.X.X
I made one for 2.0.2.A.X.X, i will share it asap.
How to:
1. make backup
2. download your version from attachments.
3. unzip package
4. start INSTALL.bat
5. it will say "Go to xRecovery menu, and connect your phone, then press ENTER.", so go to xrecovery menu, and connect your phone, then press enter.
if your phone doesn't start as well as before, please write me your firmware version.
Wow! Really great work! Which FW are you working on? 2.1 AOSP, 2.2 AOSP, or modded SE's stock FW (I'd say that when I look at the statusbar)?
It would be nice if someone ports 2.3 I'd like to help but I'm not a Linux user, and I don't know where should I look at when fixing stuff in ported FW...
"TtPsEs" hahaha, i cant wait to see the rom , keep going
Would be nice to know wich version (2.1; 2.2; 2.2.1; 2.3; 2.3.1) ?
I like the idea with the reboot option on the menu. This is a basic option that should be on all phones.
Could you upload only these mod? :>

yes, but i made it with another method.... it restarts well the phone, without bug and etc, and its avalible in all languages. i made it with googleing. i found a thread witch described the guide of five method. and firstly i learned to "use" smali and baksmali, and my services.jar developing was succesful(change clock color). in this mod i use SE codes. I DIDN'T MODIFY FRAMEWORK-RES.APK
jeaah, sorry. it's 2.1 but it's will be more optimized than the original one. now i have 112MB rom free when my phone starts up, and i haven't finished it yet.
As clean as possible, which translate to AOSP
Thank you for the work.

oh that's cool man
BTW off the topic I hope you know there is an easy way to change clock color too but again its with little editing of framework thingy hehe
edit - btw just realised you'll need to change framework cuz only framework is the source for ImageS I guess so and if you don't edit framework how would you get the reboot symbol.. ?? can you give me the link from where you learnt this method? please
yes you are right, i had to change an image, which was in framework res. its ic_jog_dial_unlock.png. it is not used in semc framework. but i had not modify resources, because i used this png's id and factorytest_reboot's id in jars. i downloaded your work, and it's really different from mine. i would not like to explain oneself to you

we all are in a learning phase if we can help others by sharing our knowledge it will help us all
I really don't want fame or credits just was amazed by how it can be done without editing framework.. but as you wish... best of Luck
nice mod.
will give it a try!
bump, the latest release is slow. i can't make it as fast as before. i would like to use 2.0.2.A.0.24 for core.
what do you think?
I thought someone didn't modify framework-res.apk but I guess I read it wrong lol
hey man if you could make a custom zip so we can install the reboot option from xrecovery that would be nice...
i updated first post. let's check it.

[Q] How to add data toggle in notification

Hello Developers,
I want to know how to add the data toggle in notification.
I saw the need to change SystemUI.apk (xml and Smali) but this does not seem to be enough because I have the CF's.
Can you tell me more?
Thank you!
yes please
Yeah i was under the impression that it's Kernel/ROM dependent but its a massive feature im missing coming from a HTC desire running CM7 and im not up for testing the CM nightlies with a new baby to look after just in case my wife needs me asap lol
Please What do not say how to add the data toggle

Wrong thread. You can find out more on " Samsung Galaxy S2 Q&A"
No one answers in Q & A as seems to be the case here.
Why no one wants to unravel the mystery
cerede2000 is right, this is a key feature, that I personally would love to see, on a stockish sgs2 rom.
I've recently noticed the appearance of the data toggle, which was promising, but no way to customise.
perhaps now that the devs are getting more stable roms they could delve further into this?
Ah one can dream.
Hold power button... Data off. hehe
Otherwise, I think Cognition ROM has it.
Yes Cognition have it
But i would add to my stock rom
Juste need answer at what files modified for add data toggle ?
Thanks!

Posted on your other thread in Q&A... It's in SystemUI.apk, can't say where though.
I try to modify SystemUI.apk in smali files but have FC's
Are you sure is just SystemUI.apk ?
I do not understand when I put directly SystemUI.apk of Cognition ROM it works well.
However when I change my ROM from my stock SystemUI.apk XXKG3 j'obtient one of FC's SystemUI.apk.
Please help me.
Here is my SystemUI.apk : http://www.multiupload.com/15QBK0IX9U
What is wrong with my SystemUI changed.
Thank you!
The reason is that your stock ROM is odexed and the other is deodexed.
This thread should be in the Q&A section.
Absolutely not! I deodex my rom...
Please look at my SystemUI.apk to tell me if something is wrong.

I didn't saw your nor cognition SystemUI.apk. but pushing the .png is not enough.
You should have to edit and modify .xml (baksmali) :
quickpanel_quick_settings.xml in /res/layout/
ids.xml and string.xml in res/values
don't touch to public.xml as it is auto generated when recompilation with APK_Manager
Not tested, but you should compare the files above

I not only added the png. I changed the xml files and smali files.
I edit by hand public.xml.
I'll let ApkManager do I see if I have no FC's.
Great! It's work!
We had to do to just let ApkManager public.xml!

I think i didn't understand exactly these sentences in you guide "Before using the new apk you need to extract the resources.arsc, then simply put it back in the new apk overwriting the original resources.arsc.
In WinRar it will give you the option to choose the compression method, and it's vital that you choose Store as the compression method..."
The resources.arsc file i have to put in the new apk is the one in the decompiled apk folder ?
Sorry for my poor english. THanks

Just pull the 1 zip or 2 zips from the rom, & explore for you're self, I think its the system ui but could be wrong, I'm not near my computer at the moment to check so I can't say exactly which one it is? If you're gonna mod the battery icons you're gonna look inside anyway & I takes like 10secs to extract & search the apk? If you don't wanna do that, there are various apps in the playstore you can download for free to look at the framework pics from inside the apks without opening them! Hope this helps.... press thanks if it did

As Maarten already pointed out SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk. And if you want to use them in apktool you'll also need com.htc.resources.apk.
Just out of curiosity: are you going to use UOT or apktool? Been trying to change status bar clock colour on half-sense and fulmix (see my post in his thread) with apktool but haven't succeeded yet.
What are your plans on theming?
Just pull the zips & open using winrar? Thts what I've been doing for around 4yrs now

It gives you this errors because there is classes.dex file on it. Delete it and than decompile.
Dex files are most of them added by phone's company; for us HTC.

Make a SystemUI.apk without classes.dex and put that in you ROM and release to all users to test. If it works, I will resign from making ROMs.

SystemUI must have classes.dex; there is where all the instructions (the smali files) come from for the apk to work. Like what to run for the EQS and many more.
As mentioned on the link given above
Code:
b) If you are using apkmanager, you can just export classes.dex, then delete classes inside the apk. Then decompile, edit, compile and add classes.dex back when ready.

why the hell are you reporting a free app. loser L

You can use ninjamorph for changing status bar background image
But it will only work if the status_bar.xml has a @drawable value for status bar background
If it doesn't and has a hexadecimal value it will not work as it's not pointing to a picture that can be changed
You will need to decompile the SystemUI.apk and change the value to @drawable/name of image and then place the image in the drawable-ldpi folder
You can change any other status bar image but it's a slow way of doing it as you can only change one image at a time (you can change as many as you like before you confirm change & apply I mean you cant multi select)
It's easier to unzip the apk & replace files
At op - to avoid confusion of warze instead of posting link to Dropbox post the link to download from the playstore - will also mean people will be downloading latest version
This is playstore link

Depends what you tried to change
For example of if you tried to change the status bar background image and there's not an entry in status_bar.xml for a @drawable png image it would be impossible to change using ninjamorph as there is no pointer to an image in systemui.apk
And of course you have to finish the project and apply changes without zip aligning
It does work if used correctly and for the right use

Please stop all of this.... Its just a app..
So if any one want and they don't know about it then they can get...
So please stop arguing about which bad or good app... As all apps are made by some efforts of developer, so we should respect that effort instead of argueing about which is best !
