Awesome Apps for the L9 - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

These are apps that I use on a daily basis that look good and run well on our device. For now I'm just going to post things that have helped me speed up my device and made it look nice! More details to come... If you have a app that you think should be included, just post away!
Leeeets begin.
Utility apps (REQURIES ROOT!!):
Pimp my Rom:
Great app to have, lots and lots of tweaks you can apply to your device that can help boost (or slow down) your device. This is really meant for advanced users who have decent knowledge on these types of tweaks.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.pimp.my.rom
Seeder
This is a VERY simple app, with some small reading to get you up to speed on what it does. I run this on my device all the time and have noticed a great improvement in switching between apps and redraws.
___________
***One thing to notice and remember. Pimp my Rom has a built in entropy seeder that may conflict with Seeder. During my tests I've noticed the boost that Pimp my Rom offers is the EXACT same as seeder with some more detailed tweaks to apply, but may fail to reapply on reboot and gets stuck. That's why I prefer to have the standalone app- it's small and no worries with it! :good:
XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lcis.seeder
Look & Feel
In no particular order or preference, these are apps for weather, widgets, etc
1Weather
Gorgeous looking weather app with simple controls, nice animations and even widgets! Built in weather map, severe weather alerts and interesting weather facts!
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handmark.expressweather
Battery Widget?! Reborn
Very straightforward app- gives you nice details about battery usage, accurate discharge/charge stats and an overall clean Holo look and feel.
Google actually uses a screenshot of the main app for the nexus 4 wireless charging orb! Once we get AT LEAST 4.1 on our devices there will be more awesome notifications in store with this app.

Clock 4.2
I threw this in here because I love the clock that comes with stock 4.2 but as we all know we don't have it (and might not for a while.. lets go devs! :victory and all efforts by myself and I'm sure countless others, cannot get the actual app pulled from a 4.2 device to work on our devices. So I ended up finding it on the Play store and gave it a shot. Aside from those annoying ads at the bottom (which can be removed for about .99 if you're daring) the app performs and looks great on our phone.

Sliding Messaging
If any of you pay attention to the front page of XDA, I'm sure you have seen this little gem come floating by.
I greatly dislike the stock LG texting app, dabbled in a blacked out app from an old device and finally settled on this. It's currently a work in progress and has a great developer who listens to our feedback, and has constant updates. The free version does NOT have MMS built in, it defaults to the stock texting app on our phone, and the pro version has LIMITED functionality for MMS and a couple cool new features thrown in.

Phonechievements
This one is a little on the silly side, and I'm a huge gamer so this is a plus to me. Also, WHO DOESN'T LOVE ACHIEVEMENTS?!
So you get achievements just by doing day to day things on your phone, some are a little on the extreme side, while some are easy to get. And it all looks great too!

sorry cant post link
Personal Assistant
When you can get a assistant at your hands who will remind you to do things. Or just listen to you and act accordingly.
When you want some SIRIous assistant, this app helps a lot

It helps you know your phone when not to ring and when to shout loud.

And since I don't like the physical Home button of L9, here is one of my favorites:
SwipePad https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android&hl=en
SwipePad is a launcher panel overlay. With a single swipe action, you can launch anything from within any app. (even go to Home or turn off screen (with additional apps))

Tips/Support/Future Release Information
History and Explanation of this ROM:
This ROM was started as a Project to help me along the ways to becoming a developer for Android. I don't classify myself as a "good" developer, but this ROM has taught me a lot and the information I have come across since the initial build of this ROM has made me that much better at becoming what I need to be to make this ROM and Project a reality.
The reason why I choose GO! Apps over AOSP is the fact that they have so many features and really isolate a lot of battery drain. The developers @GO! have did an amazing job with these apps and are used in place until I finish building the actual wp7 apps from source. Once I have accomplished a good foundation for those apps, I will replace them to match the theme of this ROM. The goal is to get wp7 UI on Android and not just by replacing a few apps here and there. This will be a project and the day that this ROM is "complete" is when ALL apps(everything that I or any developer supporting this ROM can touch) with a WP7 styling.
Why? Because I honestly feel that WP7 has one of the cleanest and nicest UI's that I have seen on a mobile device. But I choose Android over wp7 because of the Potential the Android platform has with the UNLIMITED customization and the openness of Android. WP7 will probably never have the number of features that Android can offer and with Google's push to keep things open as much as they can, Microsoft has no chance. So, with that comes me and my project(I'm sure there are others as well) to get that WP7 clean and slick UI to our Android Devices.
The Blur camera is used over AOSP because I have had less compatibility issues with the Blur Camera as opposed to AOSP; especially trying to record Hi Def videos on the x2. Soon there will be an AOSP Camera app and soon everything will be built from source.
Tips:
-Check out =yankoa @deviantart.com for some nice icons for your tiles.
-To unpin from the home screen, Hold>Click Upper Right icon.
-To move tiles, Hold>Drag to where ever>Back Button.
-To enable swype, just go through the installer process. Once complete. You can uninstall the Installer.
-To enable the WP7 Popups. Go to PopUP SMS and enable through that application. You can then Change the Tile color for the Popup. It will be a Block at the top of your screen when you receive a Text Message. You can click on the Text to view in Default SMS app or click X to remove the Tile. You can then disable by uninstalling the App or Untick the box. Make sure you set Go SMS to not disable other Notifications. And to Turn off Go SMS Notifications.
-You can remove apps from the Drawer by holding the app of choice and remove. **This does not Uninstall**
-You can change the App Drawer to the normal android drawer within Launcher7 Settings. Just press menu select option.
-You can change the Tile Color within Launcher7 settings
-To pin other apps to front page, go to drawer, select and hold app, pin to home. Then in the settings you can choose what options you want for the tile.
Warning: DO NOT REMOVE LAUNCHER 7 FROM SYSTEM/APP FOLDER! YOU WILL KILL THE LAUNCHER AND FORCE A SBF IF YOU HAVEN'T SETUP SYSTEM RECOVERY!
How you can help:
-Check the Known Bugs section of the first post if you find a bug. If the bug is not listed, Post within this thread.
-Donate to the developer/Press Thanks Button/Nominate for Developer of the Month.
-There are some issues I am having with the theming. If you see an error(white text on white background), send me a PM or post on this thread the solution. I know some but not all and the quicker I get the solution, the quicker I can get you and the rest of the community a Patch.
Future Release Info:
-Sense UI Transitions
I'm not totally sure if this is possible due to a locked BootLoader, But I plan on building a new launcher from the ground up on the next major release which should allow me to make these transitions and also add live tile support. This is not something to be talked about at current on this forum. PM me if you have any advice or know what you are doing when it comes to developing, to get this feature quicker.
-Port/Build wp7 system apps(dialer, phone, sms, etc)
This is going to be my next venture in android development. I want to build the apps from source and try to recreate the look and function of the wp7 apps for a better wp7 look.
-Theme Manager
Of all my plans, this will probably be the first to be completed; as for future development goes. This will allow quick swapping of the theme. The overall look will stay inverted with color accents(hold on a notification) for a more custom look when you flash this rom. The idea should work with other x2 roms, and possibly other devices. The Theme Manager will allow users to also create his or her own theme(whether custom, UOT, and/or within the actual theme manager) and allow quick swapping of elements within the ROM. This will more than likely be a GBP7 only release, with two market versions(paid/free) for other developers and users to use. Think of it like Liberty Toolbox, but for themes.
-PowerMod v2
I'm going to probably start testing this after I get a patch or two released, and when the next major release comes out(2.3.5) I will probably be including this if the tests go well.
downloading now. this looks very promising and im actually more excited to tryout this rom over any others in the past due to the fact that this looks completely different.
Any idea when the notifications issue will be straightened out? if not, no prob, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the excitement! lol makes me feel better with the time I've had with this.
As soon as I find the error. The problem lies with me adding the Toggle notifications to the dropdown. I'm still trying to figure out how to edit the xml files lol .. but should be within a couple days I'll release a patch just for that issue.
I'll definately be trying this out after one or two releases are done to get some bugs out. I hope you stick with this and make it. It looks very promising.

Thanks. Right now there aren't really any "Bugs" that I can find anyway. The only problem is the notifcation pulldown lol... its set to black text and Im still trying to figure out how to edit the xml files. Once I can do that, ill be set. OR i could just change the background of the notfication to something else...Probably end up doing that.
Hmm would it be okay to update the road runner scripts to the sonic scripts v2 to v3? Thinking about giving this a try.
IMO you should've named the ROM WindowBread 7 or GingerWindow 7

Thank you for trying this out. I probably forgot to swap the friendcaster pro for the free one. You can add other tiles in from the app drawer and you can edit tiles by holding them, then clicking the configuration button upper left side of tile.
Ahh I see with the music tile there was no music app in the drawer and I hadn't give threw ti backup yet for my music app but like I said looks promising I hope u continue on it and do not let the haters get on ya I look forward to future versions

Thanks, and I'm glad you found out how to edit the files.
A little information about me. IM NOT A DEVELOPER PERSEE. haha this rom is for me to tinker with and to learn how to develop for future ideas and apps. This rom will have my full support and will probably get updated frequently over the next few weeks as I learn different things and make it better. Right now I'm trying to get the Notification issue worked out(black BG on black text). It's a simple fix, but Ive got other daily things I have to take care of. I work everyday except Sundays, thus giving me limited time to work with. But I'm constantly editing the Rom. I've had it now for like 3 weeks and I've been tinkering with it as I can, trying to learn the limitations and work arounds. The Launcher needs edited BADLY and as soon as I have got a feel for xml editing and app production, I will start working on it to Automatically have certain tiles set and eventually add Live Tile support like the WP7s(this should be like 1-2 months away ..) But I will be getting the ROM bloat free and More AOSP and HOPEFULLY blurless by next weekend, Maybe middle of next week. Still waiting on feedback to determine whether to use AOSP text messaging and Dialer or Use GO! replacements and other APPS that need to go or come to the rom. PERSONALLY, I like the GO! replacements for the features they have in them(SMS has FB Chat Integration as well as a DATA IM Client, all of which runs within your SMS app).
You could always make to versions one with go one more asop and get feedback on both before u decide which one to develop more

Thats not a bad idea actually. My only worry is the setup phase of this phone. Its been very aggravating flashing my phone multiple times a day and setting up my other apps that I don't have featured in this and setting up my accounts back on the phone. But I will probably do that after this next release.
QUESTION FOR ALL!!!
Does anyone know how to put Swype Beta's data file in the data/data folder when flashing a rom? I tried to put my license within the data folder upon bootup, but I don't think it flashed and the way it was setup in tests was I had the data folder set correctly for flashing, but it didnt flash the /data/data/ folder. The line is *command_here_extract_folder* /data which dumps the contents of /data/ from .zip to /data/ of the phone. Weird, but it don't work sadly .. any ideas? or is just keeping the installer fine till the official is released?
If the power doesn't go off tonight, I will be uploading an update fixing the notifications and removing/moving some of the apps that aren't useful. Hopefully around 9 est. You should have it.

[Q] App list, dialer and other basic questions after Jester's Liquid ICS

I've recently updated to Jesters Liquid beta rom and now to the new 2.7 version if this makes any difference. I used to have a setting on the stock rom that allowed me to view all my apps as a list instead of pages of icons. I can't find this setting now. Is this due to Nova launcher, ICS, or me just not being able to find it? I really, really prefer a list with large text, much like the manage apps list that shows up, instead of a bunch of little icons that all look similar to older eyes that also don't see colors well.
I use Go Contacts ex and it's dialer, but this seems to be the same with the stock dialer. If I program a number to speed dial that has pauses inserted int he number, the call will not go through. It worked on the stock rom, but not on the newer roms. Is there a different dialer I could try or some other setting I can use to make these numbers with the pauses work again? (that's a trick from long ago where you would insert a pause after the phone number and then another number after it, like a password or access code, so that you could get into a voicemail system, etc. by just using your speed dial)
Pop up notification from a phone call. Any way to really increase the size of the text on this? I don't have any contact pictures downloaded, so I need to be able to see the name or number of who's calling. Any suggestions?
The status bar at the very top. I think I've figured out most of the icons, but could use a little help to be sure. Left to right it looks like
Bluetooth Screen brightness Location settings? (does this turn on and off GPS or what?) Refresh (is this to turn off sync features or what does it do) Wifi, Flashlight. How did I do?
I can come up with more questions, but I'm guessing you're tired of reading by now, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, 24 hours, almost 200 views and not one response? I must have asked the most difficult noob questions ever, or am just so stoooopid that no one wants to waste their time with me. Wonder which one it is?
I can only help with the status bar question.....
Go to Menu.... System settings .... Interface ....... Status bar ....... Toggles....... Power widget ....... Widget button order.
From there you can see what is selected and the associated icons. I have changed the defaults, so I don't know if your guesses are correct. From the Power widget menu, choose Widget buttons to change which buttons are displayed.
Probably just a bunch of Silverado drivers don't like Fords

I'm using Apex launcher on Liquid's pure ICS, not Nova on Jester's, but they're more alike than different and you can install Apex if Nova doesn't have this. But either way, try hitting the menu key, then Manage Apps, it should give you a list like you're looking for. Likewise, go to the App Drawer and click on Menu and it should give you the same option, or Settings -->Device -->Apps

I use the stock dialer, so I'm not sure about Go, but having used it in the past, I'm sure what you're looking for is in there. You might want to see if there's a FAQ section on their website, or go to one of the less technical forums and do a search in their apps section. Alternately, you could try DW Dialer, EX Dialer or Dialer One and see if they better meet your needs.
Pop up notification from a phone call. Any way to really increase the size of the text on this? I don't have any contact pictures downloaded, so I need to be able to see the name or number of who's calling. Any suggestions?
Try Settings --> Display -->Font Size
or
Settings -->System-->Accessibility and see if the app it suggests helps
or
search for Accessibility in the Play Store.
Also, maybe a different theme or dialer would help.

Everyone's is going to be different.
Go to
Settings -->Shortcuts-->Interface-->General and/or StatusBar. Check and uncheck stuff and see what it does. You won't break anything, though you might want to do a back up first in case you just really screw it up.
I can come up with more questions, but I'm guessing you're tired of reading by now, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't found it in Nova. I thought I had looked at Apex before, but if it offers a list view, then I'll switch. Thanks for the tip.

I tried it on the stock dialer too. The problem appears to be related to the stock dialer programming. I think the dialer apps I've played with somehow just piggyback off the stock dialer for function.

I haven't had much luck searching. Everything seems to be centered around a larger contact picture instead of larger text. I don't have any contact pictures in the phone, so that doesn't help me.
Thank you for taking the time to reply though.

And just to be clear. If I select Manage Apps, a list of apps does show up like I'm wanting, but that menu is made for stopping, uninstalling, etc. I would like my app drawer button or whatever you call it to display my apps as a list when I'm looking for an app to open. I'll download Apex and give it a spin
It's an inelegant solution but maybe a good start. Download ES File explorer. That has an app manager button that lists everything in text format. Click in an app and it gives you a choice for details or open.

That kind of works. If I leave the app manager open in list view as the last thing in that app, then each time the app is opened I get a list view of apps. It requires pushing on the app and then pushing open, but at least it's a list, so I'm happy. Apex lets me move the app icon out of the way and stick the ES app in it's place, so this will work for now I think.

It's a Sense thing. I think most of what you're looking for is available stock on Sense based roms.
Someone just developed a new one based on the BAMF leak and it's pretty smooth.

I'll look, but honestly, I really don't enjoy switching to new roms. It takes me forever to get everything up and running the way I want it and to learn almost enough to function daily with it. I do like the list view though, so I'll keep an eye on reports of battery life. I did try the BAMF leak and was extremely disappointed with the battery life (running extended battery) and data drops. That was my first new rom (I originally rooted just to get rid of bloatware), and I was complaining about my dislikes on another forum when someone pointed me to Liquid's version here. I downloaded Jesters beta version and loved it compared to the BAMF leak. After having read all the internet articles, I was under the impression that the BAMF leak was the cat's meow. Now I realize those articles are about as unbiased as the national so called news.
Is Santod's new sense rom as laggy as the BAMF leak, or have they tweaked that out of it by now.

Almost no comparison to BAMF. Much smoother. Honestly, not as smooth as Liquid/Jester but data/signal seems more stable and almist everything works.
If visual stuff, contrast and ease if use are issues for you, it's worth a spin. I'm also running Apex. I don't know if that contributes to lag over the native Sense, but it has the features I want.
Yeah, switching toms is a royal pain, but you do what ya gotta do.

Best apps for HTC One

I wanted to start a thread that shows some good apps for the HTC One. If you have any that are good, feel free to post them.
A couple I have that are pretty good are:
1) Wave Launcher: can add more apps to save space on pages. Can't really explain it, but look it up.
2) BetterBatteryStats: I like this app because I can see how much screen time I get from a full charge.
I'm looking for new apps for the One. If you have any I'd love to know them. Thanks
Faceniff
Google it because it's against the rules to link it. But here's my demo video of it in action:sly: It's AWESOME

On a side note, you should request a mod to move this to the themes&apps section
1 advanced task killer,
2 clean master
3 doctor battery
4 alphalt 7:laugh:
atk really>>>> that was used in the 1&2 series of android phones STOP running it... It causes your phone to use more battery to restart the processes than it does save battery...
1- Power Toggles. Free Notification Toggles make it much easier to change settings vs Sense Settings Menu. I really like adding in Recent Apps shortcut as well.
2- Galaxy Pack. Battery last long enough for me to use a Live Wallpaper, and Galaxy Pack is simply one of the best with lots of options.
3- gReader.
Lux Lite dash: auto-brightness - replaces the built in brightness and actually works.
Can be tweaked to hell and back, and I really think this, more than anything will help with battery life

Definitely this, getting 4+ hours of on screen time makes me happy.
Thanks to Laporte for getting me on this app.

album art

Still having same issue with the album art not showing correct as in a previous post, also found that when choosing to change the angle of the battery bar it doesn't work, which seems pointless having it,was this an oversight or should it not be able to have it;s angle changed ? latest version installed
Nice

For the album art, what music player are you using?
For the battery bar, designers tend to rather use Zooper as it's a lot more capable of editing battery bars.
yeah I understand re bar but why have the option to rotate it,that doesn't make sense,I have used the default music player, music player pro and dfx music player, still can't get it to recognise proper cover, and to be truthful it's the only problem with this build I have found
exactly the same with google music player, reboot does not sort the problem

Hi mate this is why I have gone away from themer for the time being.
As I found you can make a phone look just as nice using zooper pro and kk launcher and I have not had one crash.
My main reason for this is a lot of advanced string codes that work fine in zooper pro just don't work in themer zooper.

Would you mind letting us know what some of these advanced string codes are? I have been a hardcore user of Zooper pro since its inception and I can think of a sing sting that does not work with Zooper Themer. Have of the advanced stings in use today in most widgets, come from myself and a handful of other hardcore Zooper Pro users in the G+ community.
The only things that do not work are custom built Tasker stings, as this would be impossible with Themer based themes distributed via the app.
If you are talking about MU support not being in there, well, there has been a vote entry for this addition for about a month now. Its been sitting at the top of the feature request list since I created it. http://support.themerapp.com/forums/224109-feature-requests

If you are not getting album art, please check the following setting in your device settings.
Settings > Security > Notification Access > Make sure Themer IS checked.
You should get a popup whenever you hit "choose source", prompting you to check this if it is not. We have had a few users state this does not happen. We are tracking the bug to try and resolve it.

Ahh Ok got ya...
My bet, is that the players you are using are not fully supported by the version of MU in use in Themer.
There was an option in the stand alone version of MU for "alternate metadata collection", which would enable scaping of the data, including coverart, from players that do not conform to the standard Android method.
We can not add this method into the Themer version of MU right now, because it would/could cause issues. Basically it would require our users to switch between modes of collection based on each of the players in use.
I have been hoping to get the devs here to look into adding support for this, and turning it on/off based on the currently selected player.
This is really just a matter of finding the time to do all of the testing.
In the mean time, can you confirm that this is the problem. Try using GooglePlay Music for your player and see if the coverart displays correctly.
Also I just started this thread at our site to help with this if you would like to contribute.

Its this like
When I use a progress bar for music as a track time bar.
Works for a bit but then stops and won't start again till a reboot.
When using string to show/hide a image.
Image will only show not hide.
Album art just shows one album art image for all albums.
And some time when using track time it seam's to be a double speed ie will so 10 seconds in just 5 seconds
Here are the codes I use
#TMU_TRACK_PERC#
[bo] $#TMU_ISPLAYING#=1?1$ [/bo]
[bo] $#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?0$ [/bo]
#TMU_COVERART#
[bo] $#TMU_ISPLAYING#=0?0$ [/bo]
#TMU_PLAYTIME#
But they all work fine in zooper pro but not in themer zooper.
But it might be my phone as I have one of the few devices that has a x86 Intel atom CPU.
But at the same time if it is my phone why is zooper pro working fine.

Everything you have listed here is for Media Utilities based variables. So this is nothing to do with Zooper Themer itself.
When you have two version of Media Utilities installed on a device things get odd with Themer.
You have to remember that Themer itself has its own baked in version of MU, then you are adding a stand alone version (not sure which one) on top of it.
Dont ask me why, but Zooper Themer does NOT work with Themer MU. The variables just do not work at all, because the Themer version of MU does not broadcast anything for Zooper to pickup via variables. I have argued for this feature to be added since before I began work here. There is a thread at the support site asking for this to be added. Its been at the top of the list for some time now, but one more vote never hurts.
http://support.themerapp.com/forums...5218-media-utilities-support-in-themer-zooper
Once this support is added, it will work just fine.
BTW about 90% of what you want to do with Zooper and MU is getting ready to be possible in Everything Widget. Since I have yet to get them to budge on the Zooper MU thing, I have slowly had them add in a good deal of this stuff to EW. You should see it in the next update. Im sure you are in the same boat as me, and would rather do it in Zooper, but it is what it is. As a small bonus, due to the way EW renders layers, the reaction time for changes shown on screen with this stuff is much faster. Its not quite instant on touch, but its much faster than Zooper.
There will be no rotation in EW though, nor should you ever really use it. This is due to the way both EW and Zooper render widgets. First off you cant get faster than 1fps, which looks like ass. I introduced the spinning record idea to the Zooper Pro community, and worked with a few other guys to see how well it could be optimized. In the end, we decided it didnt look good enough to warrant the battery drain it causes.
You have to always keep in mind that Zooper renders the widget you see on your desktop as a flat PNG image. Every layer in your widget is compiled into this one png. So this means that if you have something that is changing in the widget on a per-second basis, it is asking Zooper to re-render a new PNG every second. This will MURDER a battery. The best you can do is set the rotation to only occur when music is playing, and to be static when paused.
FYI, Everything Widget does the same flattening to PNG that Zooper does. The difference is that each layer in the widget is flattened into its own PNG. This is the reason why EW will be faster to change an image (play button to pause button for example) because it does not need to think or take into account all of the other layers when it re-renders. It only changes the layer that needs to update.

Hmmmm... There have been a few users recently that needed to completely un-install > delete MCS folder > reinstall.
I would suggest you take this route to see if it fixes your issue.
Since you are flashing a new rom on your device, I would suggest a fresh install from the market, and not a reinstall of a backup.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks I'll give it a try with my new theme.
I made this theme using just zooper pro but it will save the widget template to sd then redo in themer zooper and see if that works.

funnily enough the new firmware flash sorted it out,or seems to have done so far only tried it with google player but is now displaying the correct album art,as is the default music player, player pro doesn't display anything, will try out a few more later on
