[Q] Any chance of 4.2 messaging ported to DNA? - HTC Droid DNA

Hi,
I saw in the dev forum that the Camera, clock and keyboard from 4.2 have been pulled over and can be installed on the DNA. I was wondering if its feasible (even possible) to do the same for the messaging app. One of the big features of 4.2 (in my mind, having many iPhone friends) is the group chat threading baked into stock message app.
I realize there are 3rd party apps (Go SMS and Handcent) and that I can use them, I just think it would be nice to have that feature with the "stock" message app (stock from 4.2 in this case).
Thanks!
oh, my first post too (just got DNA today)

Doesn't threaded group chat work on the stock HTC app...

no, because the HTC sense lovers don't want it.

Than what's this. I have one going with my mom and dad and I. My dad had a nexus and my mom has an iPhone and we can all see eachothers messages.

I get threaded group chat on stock? if we are talking about the same thing.
Anyways, have you tried the AOSP apk? it might just work?

The stock HTC messaging app 100% has group messaging like the iPhone. I use it every day for group projects in school.
Does the 4.2 messaging app even have native group messaging?
Also, the stock HTC messaging app kind of blows beyond this. It's beautiful, but its redraws are the most annoying thing about this phone. There is no reason that a quad core, 2GB RAM phone should have redraws in a simple messaging application.

I agree. The redraws drive me nuts and I always try other messaging apps but end up back on the stock HTC one.

The stock messaging app does have group messaging. I would rather have the stock Android messaging app though. I'm just not crazy about the htc one. It would be awesome if we could get a stock one that works really good with mms too.

The Update date ? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Group message with iphone users?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows of a mod that allows android users to group text with iphone users using default htc messaging app. Currently, I get a seperate text from people who are in my group text, it gets a little annoying.
I'm tried using go sms....but doesn't state if you have any unread messages unless you have a widget. Also, it requires data to always be active.
If all else fails...I could stick it out with go sms...
I'm hoping Google adds this feature to future Android builds.

What you want is Threaded Group SMS. Yeah it'd be cool.
We could always request such a thing from HTC & on a slimmer chance, Google.

try the Groupme app in the play store. works great and there's even a SMS option if you dont want to use the app.

[Q] Group chat in stock messaging app

Hello,
i was wondering if there was a mod/tweak out there that would let me put group chat on the default messaging app. I know about go sms and handscent sms, but each has its own problem. I have a Verizon GS3 and was hoping there was a way to do this.
You can add multiple names while creating a new sms. But they will receive your text as a normal p2p text. ie. If you add X,& Y as recipients in your group text, what ever you send will be received by X, Y and what ever text sent by X, Y will be received by you but X can't see what Y sent to you and vice versa. A better group chat alternative is whatsapp!

Your in luck! Verizon makes a very good app (I know I said good and Verizon in the same sentence) but really, the Verizon messaging app is as close to perfect you're going to get for group texting.
If your into Cyanogen Mod... CM 10.1 (android 4.2 base) finally has group texting built in. This also works real well.

Really?! I had no idea android 4.2 had this build in. I was gonna flash a nightly today to see how stable it is.

I need a group messaging fix!

Every time I send a group message, it comes out as Anonymous. Also if I send a message to a different group it would still be under the Anonymous thread. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
I'm guessing you are using an international base rom. There is no fix, and I just recommend switching SMS if you need it that bad, like gosms

I use other apps for group messaging.
if you use fb a lot you can just integrate your sms into the app.
It really depends, but I think most people now use a few SMS apps... but it changes so frequently depending on the app popularity.

Sliding Messaging is a nice replacement and the Dev seems very very dedicated to updating and upgrading it.

Group MMS - Not showing other recipients

First, let me say love this phone.
I received an MMS, which i could tell was a group text sent to multiple people. I could read the text and see who sent it, but I was unable to see any other recipients who it was sent to. On my Nexus 4's stock messaging app, it would show the other numbers that the message was sent to. Is there anyway to enable this? Not sure if it matters, but I know it was sent from an iPhone, and was sent to myself and another iphone.
Edit- Also confirmed that my response was only sent to the original sender.
Thanks!
I don't own the G2 yet, but a great text app alternative on the Play Store is called 'Textra', and it looks just like stock Android, very system light, and super fast. It allows group messaging, and works perfectly, I always text my two brothers, one is on an iPhone, the other a Nexus, and we can keep a conversation going in one thread.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely check out Textra, if I can't get the stock app figured out.

I find 'Textra' the best MMS App on the Play Store. It's very light, basic and simple. Super fast, smooth as butter, and looks and acts like stock Android messaging App.

Looks like you have a Nexus 4, may I ask why you choose to use Textra over the stock App?
I noticed the same group text recipient list missing thing on my stock g2 app

Just installed Textra and tested it. Sent a group text same from iphone to my g2 and another iphone. I received the group text in normal fashion w/ both people, however my reply was sent as a new message to the original sender and not in the original group text thread. Any idea how to fix that?
Edit - NVM, I found the MMS settings in the app, had to enable MMS for group texts and it seems to work now.

Group Texting

Hi all,
I noticed that the native messaging app does not support actual group texting. I dislike using hangouts, but it seems it is the only way to actually send a group mms, and continue responding in the same thread. Are there any tweaks, mods, or simply settings that I am missing that could help me out? May not be necessary, but better safe to mention that I am on the latest MeanBean and the kernel attached to it, with S-ON and hboot 1.15
Thanks in advance!

I don't believe you can with the stock messaging app. I use Textra from the play store and it does group messaging and it's free. Customizable as well.

I am on sense 5.5 port and stock messaging app has group messaging.
