Thermal Throttling on the new 4.2.2 Kernel ?? - Nexus 10 General

has anyone noticed an increase in Frame rate in games or reduction of Thermal throttling due to the new kernel ??

I have, no proof but my device definitely doesn't get hot now and seems to run smoother.

NFS MW now runs smooth without any lag.

Ran StabilityTest for about 7-9 minutes and stayed at 1.7GHz, but the clock speed still drops in increments of 100MHz when throttling begins. So far, the lowest I've seen was 1.3GHz. Maybe the throttle limit is just stopped at 1.3GHz? (I put my N10 near a heater for a short period of time, the throttling happened quicker, but still only down to 1.3GHz).
It seems to happen at regular intervals too, according to the CPU Load graph anyway:

Posting here also but I posted this in the franco kernel thread.. I see very similar performance as espionage
I ran 10 Antutu CPU and RAM benchmarks in a row and couldn't get it to throttle down.. It stayed *solid 1.7ghz through every time. She was hot and my N10 is even in a case... I simply couldn't get it to throttle down.
This is in the middle of test #10
* - I don't count the small 100mhz drops as throttling.. That's just the test changing for a second and lowering the CPU load for a flash..

It's Perfmon.. From the fine folks at Chainfire... Well worth the price.. I bought it the day it was released and well worth it. I'm seriously surprised how seemingly no one knows about it. It's been released for quite awhile.

[Q] Only one core going upto 1.512GHz

ok i've done everything apart from muffle system logging and max blocker (both fail to install for some reason =S ) , BUT in Govnah the 1st core shows the speed of going upto 1.512GHz, but the 2nd core doesn't go higher than 192MHz...why is that??

It only goes up if it needs it to perform some task. If you're sitting there watching it, it won't go up as it is not needed.
That is a power saving feature of dual cores.
yh but the graph that shows it hasn't gone higher than 192MHz for a while...wheras the 1st core keeps cycling at many different speeds, and i've run everything to get that second core going...but it still won't
What kernel? This has been a known issue with f15. Change the govenor to "ondemand" instead of "ctlondemand". I switched to warthog and dont have the issue anymore.
BTW....not saying its better. Just works for me
using the F4 kernel, both cores will run at the max speed you put, and when it's idling and not doing anything, will run at the lowest speed you put. I totally recmomend it. make sure you leave what ever governer is on the f4 kernel, if you don't, then the second core will stay at the min speed you put, thus not doing much.

go play a 720p YouTube video if fits smooth then everything's fine. I don't get peoples obsession with needing it to go up and down.

f4 is working really nicely over 2 weeks now. 1.8 both cores. set the min the lowest. still all day battery life.
3 words "Lithium ENYO BenchMark"
test and report your 2nd core activity via govnah... (running in background during test)
edit: "Lithium ENYO BenchMark" eh.... its ok at getting a result but not as much as some more mainstream activities and i now question its "bench marking validity". but the 2nd core is obviously active
look closely as the graph moves quicky depending on your settings

Raise your benchmark scores

The other day I achieved the highest benchmark I've ever gotten on this beast of a phone with the help of rom toolbox. Here's how.
Go to performance in rom toolbox.
CPU slider set to 1.45 GHz (unified kernel)
Memory preset to agressive
SD boost set to 4096
Sysctl set to 4096, 50, 10, 1
Try these out and let me know if it helps. Post anything you changed to help others.
If your phone blows up or bricks (neither are likely to happen but) I'm not responsible,

I expect nothing. I know that by messing around I found a combo that raised antutu from the mid 5000 to a 6926. It also took cf-bench from 10000 range native to a 13700 native. Follow what I put or don't. I don't care. I don't know what I'm doing but I learn by trial and error. If you want to know what these values mean, Google it. If you want a quick and easy way to improve performance, give my settings a try.

try antutu with default settings. use faux 1.45ghz kernel.
antutu usually gives bm score around 6900 for atrix with faux 1.45 ghz kernel.....
---------- Post added at 01:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 AM ----------
you guys ever noticed the person who is at the top of the antutu atrix benchmarkk?? hes got a score of 7500 with the 1.45ghz. i always wonder how he made that score. i have tried all performance upgrades. my device usually comes with a score of 6900.
Newly flashed reloaded rom @ 1.45 gave me antutu score in the 5000 range. It was only after changing these values I could get into 6000s and blew me away when I got a 6926. I'm still tweaking the SD boost setting in rom toolbox. I could break 7000 if I could get just a little more out of it but I don't want to pay for a higher class card. I think mine is class 4.

[FEEDBACK] Adreno 220 ICS GPU Driver

This is not all that much a "development" thread as a collective piece. I would like to see from you all if the drivers posted on the front page actually have any affect on our device....or maybe I am just crazy.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/updated-adreno-220-ics-gpu-driver-speeds-up-2d-rendering/
I am personally seeing an increase 2D up from ~300ish to well over 600 to 700, while a slight decrease in 3D.
Simply set to interactive Min: 128 Max: 1782 noop scheduler

Just installed these over webcm9 cornerstone aokp and i've noticed a definite improvement at least in games. Not placebo at least in my eyes. But then again that's the best placebo. All i know is that all my games are running better. Thanks for the tip. Do they exynos drivers as well?

Wow, I notice a huge difference in certain applications. Most notably scrolling through apps in the play store. It used to be ultra choppy, now it is bearable.
Here is a zip that'll flash on the Touchpad:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cnbbz06kl2mv6ix
As always, before flashing make sure to backup or be ready to reflash your rom.
I am running AOKP MS5, if that makes any difference.
Edit: Just noticed he had a zip for other devices attached to the post.
Moved to general, please continue.
Using the driver from the OP, I have the following observations;
2d is MUCH smoother, not my imagination, especially when panning between home screens.
Before, a few times a day it would be unresponsive to touch when coming out of sleep, more likely if it had just recently gone to sleep. Usually this was resolved by hitting the power button twice, only rarely requiring a hard reboot. After installing the 213 drivers 2 days ago, this has yet to happen. If it matters, I use pattern lock.
Haven't found any new bugs yet. Tonight I'll try the new 218 drivers and run a new benchmark.
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2
with this driver i got a lower benchmark point rate.
Lower gfx score here too. Can't comment on apps yet.

Padawan JB v2 rom oc @ 1512Mhz smartassv2 gov / sio scheduler
8132 score - CM 9.1 - 1.8ghz - Performance & sio - flapp's latest.
However, I usually run at 1134 and would take the pepsi challenge with any overclocked JB rom as far as responsiveness, speed, and battery life.
I need to try and lower my clock speed and see if it helps any. My scores are messed up due to lack of speed in sd-card reading/writing. Very low. In the 100-200 range for both

Overall speed

Would you say that the Moto Z is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Moto Z exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It's the best phone to date I have the s7 edge and iPhone 6s plus and the z is always faster day to day

fastest phone I've ever owned.
FAst in general terms, but enabling the "resising screen" option slow downs a lot the GUI.
not the best
Not the fastest phone I ever seen
But fast enough for many if not all things. Totally foobar to have every 6 to 12 month a new Phone.
I'm happy with the Moto Z in all manner.
I've compared benchmarks and noticed that my Moto Z (Brazilian Edition) has a lower hardware (CPU) than others. Brazilian version of moto z is "cropped" compared to moto z usa, for example. I'm so sad. I don't feel it is fast as expected and my biggest frustation is the smothless. See my benchmark results:
Does anyone know how to make this moto z faster and smooth?

Our Z has 1.8giga max speed compared to the US droid that sports default and higher (2.2 giga I presume) max. It is because of the battery. But if you put on some custom kernel you can gain those max clock values. Just tell me why do you need this. Mine blazing fast. Data, response, multitasking... Not a single lag since the day one. SOT is a bit decent though. Can get around 5 hrs of usage, not playing games. And that is just fine when bearing in mind the battery being of 2600 mah. Do not take these syntetic benchmark so closely. Or you'd be sleeping well enough when having better score? I came from my beloved Nexus 5x and this phone outperforms it in some ways. Getting this phone for 240 usd on a special one-off event made me jump into the lake and enjoy the show.
I'm not caring about benchmark tests at all. Sometimes I got lagging and heating up with some regular use, not gaming. I'm using it with INCIPIO battery mod trying to reach end of day without plug it to an outlet. Shoud I take it to a custom rom?
my devices has some real problems with gps apps. 3-4hours drive it will just make all apps stuck. i expected more from this phone...
if we're talking benchmarks im sure there are plenty of phones that can surpass it HOWEVER if we are talking overall speed and responsiveness it surpasses all the recent phones i owned
