docks - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Accessories

Hello
My question is, Are the P6800s working with the dock of the Verizon 7.7 (EDD-H1E3BE / EDD-H1E3BECVZW)? The pin_out and everything must be the same hardwer wise, but are there any software gimmick that prevents using another tab's dock ?

Depends on the kernel that you are using. An example is that the CM10-based ROMs do not have HDMI out support so the media dock isn't working. Physically the dock should work, I've ordered mine from US and I got an HK tab import running with stock kernel.

Using the Note as a Computer

I was looking at the Galaxy Nexus threads and saw this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_--zcmqIyRI and decided I would try it out on the Note. I did this on my Evo when I had one so this isn't a new idea but I kind like it. This isn't an in depth video, it just shows you how it works with what I have working with it. The commands that the Nexus user can use with his keyboard I couldn't get to work with the Note. Not sure if its an ICS thing or what. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laUNz7QJ9Wo&feature=youtu.be
I too have been playing around with this and it is a pretty novel idea. It isn't 100% there yet in terms of being a setup I could use full time, but it does let me travel without my laptop and plug in to a hotel TV.

Is there a way to make the Motorola Lapdock to work with the Note or something similar?
I was hoping to put Ubuntu on my phone and be able to mirror that to the screen.
Any suggestions?

Can you get any of the commands to work from the keyboard like the Nexus? I'm not having much luck there. Might be a gingerbread thing.

I just found an old Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard (it's a small black box that you set on a table, and it projects a full-sized keyboard onto whatever flat surface it's sitting on using a laser) I used to use with my Windows Mobile 2003 PDA and tried to pair it with my Note today. It works flawlessly! This thing hasn't worked with any of my devices since WinMo 5, and even then it usually required a driver to be installed. Not with the Note! Just need to be sure I have the Samsung Keyboard selected (but it doesn't need to be open). I just keep getting more and more excited about this thing (except for the dark splotches on my display and low Quadrant scores).
Ok this is neat for traveling. Anyone know what cable we need to connect to the lcd monitor?

You have to have the MHL to HDMI adapter for it to work. I got mine on Amazon for $22 including shipping and got it within 5 days. Then of course a bluetooth keyboard and mouse..works good. Does your monitor have HDMI?
Edit: If your traveling I'm sure the tv might have an HDMI...unless you stay in a Days Inn as I do..

Mega question thread!

Hello all!
I've decided to finally buy myself an android, and after much deliberation, the Atrix is my choice. I just would like to clarify a few things before i bite the bullet, and actually go ahead and get it
1) Since I'm in malaysia, the only way i can get my hands on one of these is to buy an imported UK version. I know that the ATT ones come with the microHDMI cable, but does the UK retail package contain one?
2) I've read about the webtop hack, but would i be correct in assuming that i can replace the webtop linux with another OS? (i.e ubuntu, etc)
3) do any of the CM7 roms support the fingerprint reader? (i think that they won't, but clarification is always good )
4) and last but not least, CM9 supports chrome right? (stupid question, i know, but just making sure)
thanks in advance to all who reply!
You can get the AT&T Atrix of eBay its not necessary that you buy the UK model. Secondly the webtop hack is not actually a hack allowing you to run another OS but its basically a mod for the webtop.
All CM7 rom support fingerprint reader. CM9 does not support fingerprint as the offical drivers for fingerprint are not out yet. Chrome would work on CM9 as Chrome requires ICS and thats what CM9 is.
Hope this helps

alright, thanks, this helps alot! i would get it off of ebay, but shipping fees are expensive, and the set i found here in malaysia comes with the standard dock as well, so i'm thinking that it's a better idea to spring for this one.

To clarify a wee bit on the webtop, there is a webtop hack, and then there is Gentop, Ubuntop, etc., which effectively give you a full linux distro on your device. (Gentop is Gentoo, and likewise Ubuntop is Ubuntu). Both are great, and you can spend many days just messing with both of those to get the setup you want. Only thing is you have to stay with a GB ROM such as Nottachtrix to use these. MIUI, CM7 and CM9 do not support webtop. When ICS comes out, there may be no work done to remove/change webtop 3.0 and replace with a linux distro, as it appears to just be a tablet mode and not a webtop as most of use would like, or think webtop should be.
Ah i see, thanks for the clarification. Does this mean that if i do install a cm7/cm9 based rom and connect it to a tv via hdmi or the dock, the picture will just be mirrored from the phone's screen?

If your display/TV has DLNA capabilities, it works like a charm.
If it doesn't, you can add to your TV something like DLNA-enabled Blu Ray player or Android stick.
Bingo, problem solved. External display works just fine.
Sorry to reply to this old threat, but I was searching gsmarena specs, and in sony tablet S 3G it says "TV out via MHL", but not for the non-3G version. I had the impression that besides the cellular chip there were no other differences..
Did something change with ICS update?
Cause I'm ready to get an MHL adaptor as I actually need HDMI out.

The only difference between the 3G variant and the WiFi variant is that the 3G version has an add in modem which plugs into a socket (If I'm not mixing up devices), and firmware. There is no MHL support.

[Q] Which ROM's currently support MHL?

Now that AR Liberator is functional, I've finally taken the plunge and ordered an AppRadio 2 and I'll be able to do something with an Android device that should have been done eons ago...fully integrate it for use in the car.
My question is, which Custom ROM's currently support MHL connections to other devices? The MHL connection is vital for device mirroring. Any info on the subject is greatly appreciated.

First, the rezound will not send audio over MHL. So just be aware of that.
Second, any sense 3.6 ROM is almost guaranteed to work. Everything else, forget about it. Won't work.
Yep, fully aware. Audio is generally done with the cord or Bluetooth.

Any of the 3.6 ROMs work, but its better if you use a Launcher that supports landscape. I was using Neo's Adrenaline with Nova Launcher and the latest Funky Kernel. ARL works really well with that set up. Recently drove 15+ hours with minor issues. It's still a work in progress...still trying to figure out a way to power the MHL adapter and keep the phone charged. Once I get things finalized, I'll post the results.

Anyway a fast charge kernel let's you force the kernel to AC charge mode, otherwise it will only draw 500ma.

I've been using Snuzzo's latest. With Incredicontrol (wonderful app BTW, the best of the CPU controller apps), you can set it for fast charge. Trust me, it's an issue with my set up...I'm doing something non standard . The set up that I have in our Odyssey is standard (Pioneer MHL kit, EdoTech power supply). It charges with no issues.
The screen standby app is a must! Been using it since v1.4, no issues on the Rezound...once you learn how to work around the bugs. My wife's s3...that's a different story.

The only ROMs I've used on the the s3 w/ARL are TW based. I'm assuming that any of the TW based ROMs work. Couldn't recommend one over the other...way too many to count. I'm not certain that any of the AOSP ROMs support MHL. I've heard that CM10 does, but don't quote me on that.
When it comes to the s3, I would not recommend it with ARL. The snow issues are hit and miss, so much so that they make it virtually unusable. I've tried several adapters, and have not been successful with any of them, including the official Sammy ones.
Check the link for the site that mjones73 posted earlier. That's the place to go for ARL

The biggest thing is the set up, which is understandable since it's HK based. Once it's dialed in, it's pretty sweet. The only real issue that I've had was GPS lock in navigation. Fixing the permissions and and applying an older GPS fix cured it. Not sure which fixed the problem, since I did them at the same time, but it works.

You need the mhl adapter. I picked one up off Amazon for 8

Make sure you get an adaptor that is for either a Note 2 or a Galaxy S3, the older adaptors that look identical will not work with either of these phones.
I had an adaptor for my Rezound that looks exactly the same plug wise etc but it won't work for the newer Samsung phones.

This is correct. Samsung went with an 11 pin micro USB-HDMI MHL for the Galaxy SIII and the Galaxy Note II. This allows for simultaneous HDMI out and usage of OTG input. Unfortunately the official Samsung MHL adapter doesn't even have the OTG port lol meaning the improvement going to 11 pin gives, they don't even give to you.
Oh well, still highly recommend going with an official cable. I don't trust the 3rd party products as I always had problems with them, especially when it came to MHL.

I agree with that 100%
I can confirm what you are saying here. I have been unable to use my OTG and HDMI out at the same time. I'm guessing your option is to get the smart dock if you need to use them both simultaneously. I have not found a MHL adapter with the proper passthrough or vice versa with the OTG (even tried the "with usb power" variant)
