you say you 'failed at the last second' when trying to install CM10... what actually happened?
you say you can access android recovery so I would initially try a factory reset (on the first page of recovery) 'wipe data/factory reset' and see where that gets you
report back if you require any more help :good:

I tried the wipe data/factory reset and all it does is finish up and upon reboot just hangs at the boot screen.
As for what actually happened when it failed, I got the following error
"set_perm: some changes failed"

You could try a fresh install of the CM10 rom that you have installed but first you need to do a full system wipe (go into recovery>select 'mounts and storage'> format the following >>> data, system, osh, preinstall and cache)
What else do you have installed on your sd card (that you can see in Recovery)... if the install fails again you're going to have to go back and instal a rom that you know will work (if you haven't got any on the internal sd card you are going to have to install one)

You're going to have to install it on your phone first. As your not able to start up your phone you are going to have to take your external sd card out of your phone and, using a card reader, install the rom that you want on your external card from your pc and then put it back into your phone and access recovery again.
I would recommend that you do a full system wipe before installing the Rom. After you have done the wipe go to 'install zip from sd card' and instead of selecting 'install zip from internal' just select 'choose zip from sd card' and you should be able to see the rom that you installed on your external card.

If this were me now, I would be trying a stable proven rom like CM7.2 (link here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus)
Repeat the installation process and make sure you're doing a full system wipe first.
Do not install Gapps with rom... let's get your phone working first. (just reread your post... after you've installed the rom your phone should not reboot itself?)

did something dumb - help needed perhaps?

earlier i was getting ready to try out a new ROM on my TB and was in clockwork wiping everything & got to the part where you format /system and i accidentally told it to format /sdcard
at that point everything was wiped(including sd card) so i turned off the phone as i was not at home at the time.
is clockwork still in tact on the phone itself and can i just copy a ROM to the sd card & pop it back in the phone and go from there or is there something more i have to do?
thanks
Yup. You are fine. Pop a ROM on there and flash.

He wiped the phone, so there's currently no ROM on it.... He also wiped the SD card, so if he by chance had a ROM copied to it that he could flash, well, he doesn't anymore....

When you wipe to factory data reset, wipe dalvik, and cache the OS that was on your phone is still there. I do all of that before I install a new ROM also but it doesnt delete all the data from your phone. I just did it to make sure i wasnt mistaken. He didn't erase the OS he just erased all the user data. it takes a while to reboot but everything works including the browser. so he could use the browser, go to whereever he downloaded the rom from redownload it and install it from whereever he is
That's NOT what he said. Then again, after re-reading it, I think he meant to wipe /system but accidentally selected his SD card.

[Q] Long Story... Help

I first tried to root the phone. I succeeded. The I installed RR and it got stuck in bootloop. Basically after half an hour it was still on the Resurrection Remix Logo. So then I remembered I forgot to format the phone first.
So I formatted everything except my SD card.
So now when I press "-Choose zip from sdcard" it says No Files found. I assume this is the internal memory because when I take the micro SD card out it has the rom on it and has not been formatted.
Now heres the issue.
When I press "- choose zip from internal sdcard" it says "E:Can't mount /emmc/" which I assume is the micro SD card.
So naturally I went to access the internal memory via USB.
But the Phone is not showing up as a drive.
So I am quite literally stuck.
Many Thanks to all who reply!

Are you sure that you have formatted the internal sd card?
Why?
Wipe data (factory reset) would have been enough IMO.
So you might have to flash a whole ROM again to your phone by using PC version of Odin.
Maybe use a stock ROM which usually come as Odin-flashable tar/md5 files.
Here you can find pre-rooted stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071
After flashing this, your phone should boot again and is already rooted.
Then you can flash PhilZ-cwm6 kernel from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270.
Use the zip file and flash it like described in stock recovery.
Then you have CWM recovery.
Now you can wipe data and flash your custom ROM.
Good luck !

Thanks!
I tried to change recovery myself but that didn't help at all.
I eventually managed to solved it by sifting through my stash of micro sd cards and eventually one of them worked.
Thanks a lot for your long response!

TF201 sd card is not being read, even though it is installed in the device

Hello , My sd card is not being recognized , I installed Black Bean Rom and everything was just fine. Then I decided to try Panandroid Rom , I liked Black Bean better , so I then tried to flash a restore/back up thru TWRP . I could not find the back up and also the it wasn't shown in the TWRP . So I ended up having to flash a new Black Bean Rom, even though it was in my file system. Now whenever I try to download a file or app from over the internet i'm getting message that says " No SD Card" even though the sd card is installed Can anyone please give me some advice on this thank you

I would suggest doing a full wipe in your recovery (data, cache, dalvik annnnd system). This is not the same as factory reset. In TWRP you have to go to advanced wipe to wipe system. If you did this already sorry. Also on my LG Optimus G when I go from stock to AOSP a "0" folder is created that emulates the internal storage. That could be a reason why your backups and stuff aren't being found. No idea though, I don't have my TF Prime yet.

Wiping system will mean you have to re-flash your blackbean rom. Are you using TWRP? If so:
You can specify where to look for your Rom.zip. There is a dropdown bar for external sd card or internal storage. When you wipe your system, your "internal storage" remains intact. Your movies and music will remain.
It's sounding to me like in the rom chaos your sd card became corrupt. To check if your SD card is defective
- Wipe everything like I said, install your Rom of choice (preferably one that your sd card worked on before) from "internal storage"
- Reboot and see if your SD card works, if it doesn't, it's probably the card itself and not the rom:
Format your sd card to fat32 with a pc or the prompt you got on your phone (you will lose everything on the card)
If your pc can use it just fine (copy some files on and off of it) then your phone should too. If it doesn't work on your pc, your card is probably dunzo. If it does work on the pc, but not your prime, then you still got a rom issue (unlikely if you wiped everything).
Probably told you some stuff you already knew but oh well.

wiping is done before flashing not after flashing !!
proper wiping include wipe data/factore reset wipe cache format system and wipe dalvik cache.
next tiime use philz recovery and chose the option clean wipe for installing new rom option.
for the time being just do the wipe i mentioned before and flash any roms available in your sdcard / ext sd card.
if you dont have any roms on your sd card then try adb push rom.zip to the root of sdcard. read more / google adb to know how to push files to sd card. this wont flash the rom.zip but will copy files to your sd card so that you can flash them through the recovery...

Problems on I9300 after updating to CM SNAPSHOT M4

Hey guys,
I have been having problems with some CyanogenMod roms lately. My I9300 was working perfectly using one of the nightly CM 11 ROM's released in early March, until I installed the latest M Snapshot. From there on in my phone has gone insane.
From time to time, during the day the phone gets blocked without any apparent reason. My first thought was that has something to do with the RAM, maybe its getting low somehow, but no, that wasn't the case. Most of the time I have at least 160-180 free ram, usually more than that.
Anyway, then I thought maybe the problem was the installed ROM, so I did a re-install but still, with no effect. Then I downloaded 17th of march nightly ROM, wiped clean the cache and reset the phone. Still with no effect.
My next solution is: Download the newest nightly, currently 18th of March, install the latest Clockworkmod Recovery, which is 6.0.4.6., reset and wipe the phone again (backing of course) and install the latest ROM. What do you guys think?
Also, does anyone else has this problem after installing the latest M-Snapshot from the CM download page.
I would much appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
Gent
Yes. You definitely should install the latest CWM. And when you wipe, make sure that you (from the CWM menu ofc):
wipe data/factory reset
mounts and storage -> fromat system
mounts and storage -> format /data and /data/media (/sdcard)
advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
then flash the rom etc
If you didn't do this in the first place when you tried flashing the ROMs the flashes were dirty and that may be the reason why they didn't work.
Doing the above will give you a real fresh start with your ROM and problems should not appear.
So, I don't think the problem is in any of the ROMs you tried.. I'm just guessing, so correct me if you did all the above
I have been doing just fine with CM 11 M3 and M4 builds and now I'm on the latest nightly and everything is working perfectly! :highfive:
Hey Man,
I did that, but now the problem is that I cannot install the rom because it has wiped all the data that were there. Now I cannot transfer the rom into the phone. I transfered it into the external sd card but it does not let me to install it, it shows an error.
What to do now???

You should always put roms on ext sd card before you are ready to flash not internal for situations like this! Flash back to stock with odin and start again.
Connect the phone via USB cable, go to recovery, Mounts and Storage, and then click Mount USB Storage. Then, transfer the ROM. Have you thought about having the Cm instaler?

Sorry I think my reply might have confused you..I was suggesting that he should have transferred his rom to ext sd card before he started to flash and wipe system..It looks like he wiped the system in recovery and could not transfer rom to internal sd so he managed to transfer the rom to external sd where it would not let him install please correct me if I am wrong ..
I know there are other options he can try but in this situation I recommend flash to stock to give him a clean system and minimize any errors he might have and then he can try again the correct way.
