[Q]App to assign launch app action to physical buttons ? (menu, home, back, search) - Motorola Droid RAZR

Is there any app for rooted xt910 RAZR which will allow to assign custom actions,
like for example launch another application,
to those 4 buttons on bottom of device, physical buttons:
Menu, home, back, search ?
There is something like that in some roms, but currently i am using rom without such function...
So maybe there is standalone app allowing for it?

Change Home Long-Press to be specific app shortcuts?

Is this possible at all? Or already done, maybe? would it be an app that could possibly run and replace this action or does it require a rom modification to do it?
I'd prefer specific apps to always be in my home long-press popup than just the most recent ones (ex: mail, web browser, twitter, facebook etc the ones that i am typically trying to get to )
Any thoughts?
I wouldn't mind having menu long press go to the dialer app so we can have a dedicated dialer button we can use when we have other apps open. Long pressing the menu button brings up the quick search bar which we already have a button for.

long pressing the menu button brings up the keyboard ... not the search...
Long press of menu brings up search on the vibrant, try it. (i read another thread that this isn't the same on other devices)
I assume that given that Vlingo can take over the long press of the search and home replacements can take over the long press of home, an app could be written to take over the long press of home to change its action as well?
I'm not a programer so I wouldn't have a clue of how to write an app that replaces that home/recent apps pop up to allow your own choice of shortcuts
Oh yeah, I guess I was wrong... I have to many devices to keep track of the differences...

I *kind-of* got what I wanted via the app "App Launcher" (link: http://www.appbrain.com/app/net.talondesigns.quicklaunch - $1.99)
It looks identical to the popup that you get with a long press of the home button - you can select the shortcuts you want to be in it, BUT it is a long press of the search key instead. Functionally, it is what I want, but I'd prefer to take over the home button action rather than using the search button, as I had that one assigned to Vlingo.

[Q] adding items to search button

Surprised I can't find anything about this one via google.
Is there a way to add items to the long-press of the search button and/or change the function of the single press.
Preferably, I'd like to change it, so when I single press the search button a shortcut of my choice is launched instead (in my case, a single click to open a Folder Organizer folder).
I have been doing this to launch task manager since long long time
Here is what you need to do:
1. Install launchkey app
2. Launch the app, and select the app you want it to open up
3. Long press search key, and map it to launch key permanently
4. Long press and it will launch the app mapped to launchkey
I found Launchkey this morning, bought & refunded it. When I tried to pick a custom app it didn't do anything at all. Custom menu worked though.
Sadly, even if Custom app worked, they don't allow a shortcut - just apps
Playing with ButtonRemapper (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464). Doesn't allow shortcuts either, but at least one can map to Camera or Phone button instead of search. Oddly, mapping it to Phone caused the long press to activate Vlingo (or something like that). Dunno if I'm keeping, but will mess around.
Considering the customization of Android, I'm very surprised the default O/S doesn't let you map the button & long press to anything - or at least an app in the market!
It does; it allows to map based on application that tries to make use of it. On my phone, it was popping up 6-7 options along with launch key, with go sms pro, voice command, voice search, etc being some of them. The app needs to be coded to make use of it. Android supports this feature.

[Q] Repurposing Home Button to show Notification Menu?

Dear Androidsters
I'm very much enjoying my Samsung Galaxy Note (running stock Android 4.1.2, rooted), and it's waaay better than all my previous 11 palmtop computers put together.
I have four apps which effectively make my Notification Menu into my app launching mechanism [1], since I find this to be quicker and more efficient than the default Home Screens paradigm. I have explored using various app-launching Home Screen replacement apps (such as GO Launcher EX, 3D Home, etc., &c., all of which stick to using the Home Screens paradigm), but I much prefer to use the Notification Menu to launch apps.
Android is justly famous for its 'Customise Everything!' abilities, but search as I may, I cannot find a way of customising a single press on the Home Button. The final finesse would be that, in any and every situation (including when apps are running full screen, where the Notification Bar method of accessing the Notification Menu is absent), a single press on the Home Button shows the Notification Menu instead of the Home Screen (or whichever replacement app-launching Home Screens app it currently launches).
So does anybody know of a customising utility app which will allow me to remap a single press on the Home Button to show the Notification Menu?
Thanks in advance for your help.
[1] Four apps which effectively make my Notification Menu into my app launching mechanism:
Simple Shortcut Panel, Launch From Notification, Settings Extended, and Notification Toggle
There is a way but I know little about button mapping, ask some app developers, they'll probably know.

Back button App for LG V10?

Hi guys
just checking if anyone knows whether there exists a stand alone app that can be used to simulate the soft back key or the home key in the Android navigation bar? I am not refer to those virtual back button apps.
I am asking because the LG V10 does not have hardware keys but it has a secondary screen, I can put such Back Button App on the second screen and disable the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen (LG V10 can hide the navigation bar).
I know there is an app for Samsung Edge phone to support the back/home button on the Edge's second screen. unfortunately, that app is only for Edge phone.
I know in the Play store, there are many virtual back button apps. All of them will put a virtual button some where on the screen. that is not ideal for my purpose.
Please let me know if anyone knows or can develop one.
Thanks
Try LMT launcher. You can set up your own configuration and it doesn't block your screen at all - swipe from any portion you set up.

Thanks for the suggestion, I installed the Pie Control from Google Play store as the LTM launcher is not there.
The Pie Control serves the purpose well. awesome!
Thanks!
I hide mine, enabled when using the launcher, when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen it shows and you can use the virtual buttons. I prefer that over the other options.

I'm looking for this too. I installed MyHomeButton from the play store and was able to put a home and recent softkey on my second screen, but now I still need a back button.

All in one gestures on the playstore allows you to create a back soft key that you can add to the second screen.
really need a back button and home button.
I think they should have put a home button right where the big LG symbol is on the bottom of the phone.
@Amd4life Exactly! Why not use that extra hardware space to put in extra buttons? Home, back, recent apps, shortcut key...

Android - how to simulate long press of home button

Hi, I'm trying to simulate a long press of the home button in order to launch 'Google now on tap' as my phone (elephone p9000, stock 6.0, rooted) has got rid of the navigation bar in favour of a single capacitive button, which uses the long press function to launch recent apps instead of Google now on tap and I can't find any other way to launch this service. You can bring the navigation bar back but this interferes with other functionality I have set up now. Can anyone please tell me either an app that can run a script to simulate the home key long press or alternatively another way to create a shortcut to launch Google now on tap as right now I'm having to go into settings reactivate the navigation bar, long press home and then deactivate it after. Not exactly streamlined! Thanks for any advice.
Would be great to be able to assign Google now on tap to the fast access Button on the left. I miss it myself and dont want to use one Screen Navigation.

There's actually 2 very straightforward ways of doing this, one of which is I thought I'd tried but obviously not very well. You can launch the Now on Tap feature by assigning it to a gesture in either LMT pie control or another 3rd party app called All In 1 Gestures. If this isn't clear just ask.
Anybody figured this? What would the shortcut show up as using a third party app. I can see Google but how would you access Google now on tap? Doesn't show up as a shortcut.
