Newbie - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello im new to Galaxy s2 what are the best/most stable jb roms
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

You should never post a thread asking "Which is the best ROM...?" or any thread asking for the "best" or "good" ROM. It is against the rules of the forum. Reason being: Every user has their tastes and preferences. Battery life also varies from user to user depending on their usage of the phone. Therefore there can be a multiplicity of variations. Go ahead, flash ROMs and see for yourself which is the best ROM.
Cheers

Nano is right...this is what Q+A section is for. You'll need to flash numerous roms...custom and stock before you decide for yourself which is the best/most stable/best performing rom...although id say there isnt a best...its user preference.Just be sure you follow flashing instructions to the letter...or youll likely end up with a useless paperweight for a phone" oh..and one more thing...hit the thanks button for anyone giving you help along the way...its always appreciated

Please try the ROMs for yourself, there is no other way.

[Q] Ultima vs FoxHound ROM? Your opinion

Hey guys, I have been checking some ROMs online and have found two interesting ones.
Ultima ROM and FoxHound ROM
I would like to get your opinion as to which one is better performance-wise, battery-wise, and feature-wise. Or just general pros/cons of eachr
If you haven't tried it out I would still like to get your opinion since the S3 will be my first android phone
Best rom what rom posts are against the rules.

I've used both but Ultima has been the best for me. Battery, performance and has the greatest customisation with the aroma installer. You get to choose what you want installed or don't want. So its totally custom. The dev support is great too. Regular communication and updates.
WanamLite, Omega, Foxhound, Hyperlight. I rotate between these 4. The rest can go away
There's no "best" rom for obvious reasons we all have differing expectations, I used to use FH 1.3 (ICS) and loved it but when the switch to JB came around I found it didn't quite live up to the other roms around so even when you think you've found the perfect rom always be prepared to try new ones.
This is headed for a thread close very soon.
But to answer your question, I can only offer an opinion and that is in my sig .

This is a thread asked for opinions Between two popular roms. People who used both of them can have their comments regarding them. Nothing is wrong with that.

You're dead wrong there, this is a thread to ask people which ROM is better, hence the title.
That is against the rules.
Having an opinion leads to a discussion as to what is the better ROM, people will disagree and bring up good and bad points about each rom, which like I said is against forum rules.
Saying that I'm surprised its still open.
To put things into perspective, I'll answer your question by asking another. What's better football or snooker?

Battery friendly rom (cyanogenmod?)

Currently, I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 (10.1-20130226-NIGHTLY-i9100) rom installed in my phone. I would like to know is there any way to improve cyanogenmod in my phone in order to make it more battery friendly? If not, than maybe you can recommend some other rom, which would be 4.2 and more battery friendly?
Thanks.

Sorry, but I don't agree with the fact that you can't ask for other people to share their opinion on what is greatest rom for specific problem solving. I would love to install all available to roms on my phone and test them by myself, yet I have tons job and no time, that is the reason why I ask for xda-developers users to share their experience. Is it really that much to ask?
Look, everyone's idea of a 'best' ROM is different, and on a website like xda there will be many different views. I don't set these rules for no best ROM threads, that comes from the moderators. I just do my bit to prevent the lazy people like yourself from clogging up the forum and being spoonfed.

You have no right to call me lazy.
Anyway, I will be a bigger man and step out of this. Clearly, some people here have absolutely nothing better to do then to watch if someone "spammed" forum with thread in which a question about roms is being asked...
On a more productive note, try one of the updated 4.2.2's and play with various power and connection settings to see how you can get the power to last.

All roms are in the i9300 android development or Original android development forums. There is also an index thread of all roms.
There is no "best" rom. whjat's good for me is not necessarily good for you. This means all best rom threads fall into pointless arguments about whose opinion is more fact than anothers and as such, these threads are discouraged.
Simple answer is, please try all the roms and find your favourite.

What rom best rom posts not allowed .
!!ALL QUESTIONS GO IN THE Q&A FORUM!! OR THEY MAY BE DELETED
Please use the red report button and ask a mod to move the post.
Hello ShutteN,
It goes without saying that stock is by far the most stable ROM for a device, given that the OEM tailors it to specifically match the device hardware.
That being said, if you're looking for a stable custom ROM, I'd advise you to try out a few ROMs and then stick with whichever suits your usage.
I'm closing this, since these types of threads attract unwanted opinionated responses and go in a whole other direction.
Good luck with your search

Brief ROM catch-up please with S3?

NOT A 'WHICH ROM IS BEST' THREAD!!!
Hi,
I'm new to the S3, come from HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2. I'm been running custom ROMs for years.
Please could somebody briefly let me know these things?
1. I am assuming there are stable JB ROMs and more beta-type KK ROMs at the moment, is that correct?
2. Could somebody suggest a stable/solid JB ROM to start me off with? I prefer RR/CM type ROMs.
3. I've always wanted to try an AOKP ROM and I know there's one for the S3. Is the milestone 2 version stable?
Many thanks!
Adam
Yes it is a best rom thread, go try them for yourself. There is a reason they are against the rules.

Why bother typing something so unhelpful?
It would have taken the same amount of effort to have said "well, it's not my favourite ROM, but XXX seems stable and is a good place to start" or something like that.
The internet; bringing the worst out in people all day, everyday...
I like how u phrase this thread but it is still a best rom thread. The reason why this is still a best rom thread is cos u asked for a stable rom recommendation. Will be asking mod to close.

Mod Edit
Whichever way you word it...
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
