Can't make calls after S-Off. - HTC Droid DNA

Everytime I go to make a call or receive a call the phone force closes and then signal drops off. I have flashed new kernals and have done a clean Rom install and problem continues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try reflashing a kernel. Might try stock first, then maybe Elkay's or dsb's writeable.
In case you're doing it a different way, try flashing it this way: flash the boot.img using the Flash Image GUI app. Then flash the corresponding modules for that specific boot.img kernel (can't mix and match) in Recovery.
If that doesn't help the situation, you may need to flash a different radio.
HTH!

Perhaps you accidentally flashed your radio partition? Reflash your radio and you'll probably be good to go. Either that or like someone else said try a different sim card.

If you are getting com.android.phone fcs. then reflash ruu, DL' a rom of choice on your computer and transfer using ADB push (will take a second) . reboot to bootloader. flash boot.img, boot to recovery, flash modules, then flash custom rom. when phone reboots, wait about 45 seconds before running setup. If this process still does not work, please report back. Or PM me or another RC so we can figure it out for you in a quick manner.

Well this morning I switched to CWM recovery and loaded Digital Dream 1.5 and I'm back working. Thanks for everyone's help.

Yeah so it was a rom issue then
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app

Not a Rom issue, I've had the problem on viper and hatka, both before and after soff and new radio. New kernel, old kernel.
I'm getting ready to try stock 1.15 before I ruu.. will report back.
Edit: Fresh off RUU, with the old radios flashed before the RUU. Still no change. Tried turning phone off, remove sim card, phone on, try to use cell connection (obvious failure), phone off, insert sim card and boot. Still no good. About to try above method using CWM and Digital Dream, as soon as it downloads.
Edit 2: Still no such luck. After digging through system logs, there's quite a few errors pertaining to the radio, IccCard, and RIL. One that particularly caught my eye was an error that there stated Ril_get_icc_status returned an error, and it should never return an error. Unfortunately, I didn't get a capture on the time I saw that, the radio reset which Su to reset which caused catlog to reset. Still have quite a few errors pertaining to SIM problems as well. I am way over my head after this point. I can interpret java, and linux.. but not so much understand when they're mixed together in Android.
http://www.pastebin.ca/2317800 This is logcat capture I got of the radio log. Unknown technology doesn't sound good to me....
http://db.tt/nbYfqEkb A full system log as soon as I could save after the force close. Couple things here and there.
I suppose if I can't get it fixed in a day or two.. off Verizon for a replacement. What's the purpose of a phone if I can't make phone calls on it?

Unless an error loops continually, its okay.
Have you tried to manually select a different network? I'm not quite sure how to do it on a sense rom, but I do know that when I was messing around within my CM10 build and changed to the wrong network type, I lost 4G data in sense. I reflashed CM10, selected a different network and then flashed back and it was working.

Have no fear...
THE MAN IS HERE!!!
OK guys honestly if it's up to me, we should all be scared ****less if we were relying on me. I bought a DNA with this problem to see if I could fix it and so far I've relocked, run the RUU twice (executable 1.15) unlocked and flashed recovery and done clean rom installs, kernels, switched to every network mode imaginable. I took my sim out of my DNA working perfectly so I know the sim is good in a different DNA.
I just flashed the 2.04 radios and I'm going to see what that does. I promise I'm going to give this issue my everything though because I gave a lot for this phone that's otherwise NIB condition and MINT. OK and the radios didn't help

Any luck figuring this out? I have the same issue and have tried radios, kernels, ROMs, RUU, and am still getting the same error message.

I was having "com.android.phone" issues. I relocked then ran the RUU. It didn't fix the error. I unlocked, tried to go Into recovery and there was no recovery. I flashed cwm recovery, flashed busy box/superuser, and rebooted. I flashed cubed kernel. The fix for the phone was to fix permissions with system write capabilities. I'm not sure why the RUU didn't put the phone all the way back to stock.

I had this problem with my first DNA, warrantied it out after trying all the same things, flashing different roms, RUUing. After replacement I came across a thread somewhere and found that someone had fixed the same problem by simply fixing permissions before doing anything else, sounds like once you flash something else you're screwed.
Anyone try that first?

[Q] I need help to stop all the reboots

hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post and your efforts to help.
my rebooting problem is really frustrating because it seems to inconsistent to really describe. i'll try my best.
gsm evo 3d Rogers Canada
unlocked, rooted using revolutionary, s-off
now it reads hboot 1.49.1107, radio 10.13.9020.08_2m
ive tried several roms and kernels (king cobra, ROMeOS, LeeDroid) -nothing solves my problem. Im currently on ROMeOS with the stock kernel he provided.
I've done SEVERAL full wipes by clearing cache, dalvik, full wipes and used superwipe. still no good.
1) it tends to do a lot of rebooting in the morning after charging all night. ill wake up, use it for a while and it'll reboot in my hands or seconds after i put it down.
2) the only thing that seems to help prevent reboots sometimes is turning it off and leaving it off for a few hours. but even this only works inconsistently.
3) Ive often noticed a huge battery drain (roughly 20% in 30 mins) on those mornings when it then proceeds to reboot.
sometimes, after leaving it off for a few hours and turning it on again, it reads a higher battery level and then works well the rest of the day. in fact, once it begins to work well, it tends to drain nice and slowly and not give any problems until the next morning after another night of charging.
Ive noticed that often, if i get the big drains in the morning, i can unplug it and immediately replug it until it reaches full and it then works well with no reboots and good battery life that day.
it also takes forever to go from 99% to 100% charged.
4) another thing that bothers me is that i can do all the wipes and clean install a rom and it'll will work fine for a few weeks until all this starts happening again. OR it can begin repeating these problems right after a clean rom install.
5) another weird thing is that often, i cannot turn the phone on without using volume up and down and power at the same time.
I wanted to return to the stock rom without losing root so and i downloaded the rogers stock RUU thinking it would be a ZIP file that i could just flash through CWM but i keep reading contradicting instructions on how to do that. some just said "download the RUU, plug into PC and install" but that sounds really vague. In other posts it says i have to relock bootloader and extract the zip etc -which seems so much more complicated than just flashing a new zip file. so im stuck not knowing what to do.
have mercy on me guys...

i finally got to download it but its an exe file and i havnt found clear instructions for how to use it. i'm used to flashing zip files from CWM.
can you please advise?
i read its just a matter of plugging the phone to the pc with usb debugging and running the exe file. with this method, will i lose superuser permissions, s-off, or root?
I'm a Sprint user but I had a huge issue with random reboots after upgrading to the latest OTA from sprint. I have s-off through revolutionary. It sounds exactly like the issues the OP described so I'm just going to say that the only way I got rid of my random reboots was to use the latest RUU.exe file from my PC to restore my phone to completely stock (but you keep s-off after using the RUU). Every time I tried to upgrade to the newest OTA from Sprint using a PG86IMG.zip file, I would have the random reboot issue. After the RUU, no more random reboots on any ROM, whether it was MIUI, Sense 3.0, 3.5, or AOSP/ICS
Also, I sent some detailed instructions via PM to a few sprint XDAers who asked for help getting rid of random reboots. The replies I got all said the reboot issue went away. Idk if it's the same sort of underlying issue for everyone on the GSM EVO 3D, just thought I'd share my experiences

Put the exe on your computer, not your phone. boot into fastboot (hold vol down and press power on, then choose fastboot), then plug your phone in and run the exe on your computer.
EDIT: just noticed I didn't answer everything you said. You keep s-off, but lose the custom recovery, and root/superuser (same thing essentially). Getting root back is really simple though, all you have to do is add superuser back to the stock ROM (RUU puts you on completely stock ROM/kernel) or flash a custom recovery again and then any ROM from recovery, and you'll get superuser/root back in that ROM
Try this its helps with reboots. A lot of useres tend to neglect cleaning there sd and it can cause major reboots on all kind of roms and kernels

Am I bricked?

I flashed midnight ROM. put the AOSP theme over it. Flashed the newest MAC Kernel, and that's when it started happening.
I decided to factory reset and flash the ROM again, tried to restart. same thing.
restored a backup (after factory restting), no dice.
Wiped boot/data/system, factory resetted, wiped both caches and reflashed midnight ROM. Still nothing.
Tried to flash CM9 (after factory resetting and stuff) and it still won't go past the HTC screen no matter how long I wait.
What's wrong? Am I half bricked?
I'm using the Evo V with S OFF on downgraded HBOOT.
You need to downgrade your radios as well to flash aosp roms. Run an older RUU, which will set you back to stock, flash your recovery and then flash midnight again

So basically, upgrade my HBOOT (since stock is on a upgraded one) again and flash a stock ROM then downgrade again?
I was thinking of doing this, but why did this problem come up in the first place?
I can't do it because I don't have an extra SD card around. If I put the hboot upgrade on my SD card, the bootloader won't start up because it gives you the option to install it or not install and either way, it turns the phone off.
Got it figured out. When I flashed a different kernel, it broke the other kernel or something. I had to flash the ROM's kernel separately. I don't know why.
I'm not sure why, but it did. Anyways, it seems to be working now!

If you flashed a RUU you would have the stock recovery. You need to flash a RUU not just a stock rom.

any idea why that happened??? @[email protected] have never been more scared to take a phone to verizon more in my life...especially that it was from craigslist.

I also should say some pieces of information that may help this case:
[NOT POINTING FINGERS]
I used Pimp my ROM on all of these.
I started having data issues on this ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943767
and then went back to this rom and had the same issues ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884085
And the same issue again on this one =>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899085&highlight=battery+life
that same night i used skype and the flash on the back camera a lot (it was a modded apk of skype)...and my phone got really really hot....
next day I had the same issues switching back and fourth between ROMS...then I got desperate and finally made a help thread.
EDIT: having texting issues AGAIN. i swear this could be an outage

. Numerous Verizon Wireless customers also reported problems making and receiving calls or text messages, particularly in the Molino area.
I live in MI...I wonder if it spreaded here
That is probably it.
Next time don't panic. It's very nearly always fixable if you can get boot to hboot even of you can't boot the OS or recovery.
Freaking out can lead to a lot of problems. Next time take a deep breath and relax and send me or someone else a gtalk message or PM.

+1 on that solved my issues

[Q] Wifi won't turn on, Using Neo's AOSP Rage Rom v1.8

So I have been using Neo's AOSP Rage Rom since about 1.4, and haven't encountered any serious problems (besides some hiccups such as the Trebuchet FC problem in 1.7, although everyone had that). Now, after I have flashed 1.8, I am unable to turn on my Wifi. I checked my md5s, I did 3 clean flashes, and I also flashed the rom with and without the inverted gapps pack.
My Rezound is currently S-ON, and I have no plans to go S-OFF unless necessary.
I'm not sure if this is a kernel problem, or if it's the wifi module, or perhaps something else, but I figured I should ask here first to see if there were others with he same problem.
Most likely kernel, try flashing Snuzzo's kernel

I've tried that and it didn't help. I tried both of his kernels without success. My problem may be hardware related though. I can't switch back to sense based from without bootlooping. Same thing with flashing ruu.

If your running an ruu and still boot looping, then something else is wrong. It's gotta be a hardware problem, time for an insurance return

Well... I figured out what I was doing wrong, which was that I forgot to re-flash the boot.img that came with the Neo's rom. I suppose I forgot to re-flash it because it never said you had to, but I remembered that the rom was intended for S-OFF, and I'm S-ON, so that never occurred to me.
So, yeah, it was basically the kernel.
After I did a clean wipe and flash of Rage again, and flashed the boot.img in the bootloader, everything worked.

I've got the same issue. Except wifi, gps, and bluetooth won't turn on. Also, I keep getting the message that my SD card is damaged. I pulled the boot file from the ROM, zipped it, and named it PH89IMG.
So far, everything else seems to work, but this isn't really working for me. Any suggestions?
Are you on ICS firmware or GB firmware? If you are on GB still and trying to flash ICS rom, wifi and sdcard won't work until you flash the old firmware patch.

I second that notion. I've been on 1.8 for a while and I feel like it's been the best version so far (I'm S-OFF). 1.9 is out now, so I'll be trying that later tonight.
Performing S-OFF isn't that bad. I thought it was fun - just follow the directions and you should be fine (like anything else).

Need some serious help please!!!

Good evening yall, I have serious problem with my Droid DNA and need some help bad.
A couple days ago I noticed that my phone kept losing service so I researched it on Google and found out it could be something with the Sim card, easy to fix by getting a new one. I also read somewhere that it could be something that can be fixed with reboot and re flash of my ViperDNA Sense5 2.5.2. So I made a recovery and wiped the data off my phone with CWM, after re-flashing and rebooting into the rom I tried to use the Viper Authentication Wizard but wasn't able to complete because of the faulty SIM. I kept re-flashing and recovering with CWM for a couple more times still and on some boots the signal would return but I couldn't make calls because the error "android.process.system not responding".
I've tried to flash the Radios and Ruu back to stock and flash a stock rom but now it boots to a black screen with the status bar.
Please help I can't use my phone!!
I rebooted the phone while it was activating using the Activation Wizard in ViperDNA rom and relocked the boot-loader also which I think made more problems.
I've also used adb and fastboot commands and got a new SIM from Verizon, yesterday I flash cm10 and was able to receive a couple text messages before I lost service again. Since then everything I do doesn't work need some assistance.
Boot-loader screen says this
Unlocked
Monarudo PVT ship S-Off RH
CID-22222222
Hboot-1.54
Radio-1.01.01.1112
OS-3.06.605.4
Is the sim card not being detected at all? If that's the case one suggestion I can make before you go for a replacement or some other route is getting a new sim tray from HTC. Htc made a thicker tray and I got it a while ago and since then I have not had any issues with my sim card. If you contact them and tell them they will send it to you free or charge. I would try that. This sounds like a hardware issue not so much a software version.

Thanks for the quick reply
So I was able to flash ViperDNA with twrp-beta but now it doesn't actually boot just stuck in the booting animation.
By flashing my recovery to the one on Viper page would that erase my previous recovery? And would my signal return?
Edit: Cant find the recovery in the OP

So I see you have done lots to your phone and the original post said you had this and that what is your current radio and hboot? If you went back to the original stock then did you moonshine and unlock your bootloader again? I hate to say this but I had a dna that suffered from this and I had to replace the whole board, the top one, which was 65$ but if you are handy with solder you could do it for I think six. Anyways, current info please.
Try the ruu first. Then if it still doesn't boot it's hardware related.
