[DEVS ONLY] Nexus 4 camera recording v0.2 (AVC high profile & LEVEL 4) (60FPS) - Nexus 4 Original Android Development

Hi releasing a quick kernel to test the camera quality
Compiled for Android jellybean 4.2.1 & 4.2.2
Ive tested it needs more modified but ive activated high profile & level.
For testing the boot.img boot in fasboot mode in terminal via fastboot boot boot.img
Test and post results thank you
Log outputs this
OMXCodec: [OMX.qcom.video.decoder.avc] AVC profile = 100 (High), level = 51, ive changed kernel and set the level to 4 for now.
High profile avc h.264 has been achieved along with changing of profile level upto 5.1.
Now my focus/attention is on FPS attempting to achieve 60FPS recording
This is a quick kernel based off motleys for testing purposes on camera quality so thank you motley!

Interesting.
So this kernel has everything from Motley, plus your Camera modification?
And what kind of feedback do you want us to report?

Re: Nexus 4 camera recording(AVC high profile & LEVEL 4) (kernel)
Log tells me its set to high and level 4 so thats a definite but i might need to modify more to get it running good also ive attempted to get it running at 60fps camera does look smooth to me, but need confirmation of camera quality and smoothness improvement, didnt have time so couldnt check the fps of video i made
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Since it is for testing a I recommend a
"fastboot boot boot.img" to test without flashing, just in case something goes bad, then you just need to reboot.

Flash went well. Going to try some pics and video and then compare to stock and let you know. Colors need adjusting, does this support gamma changes?

It does support gamma changes. Just restored my display settings. Now to test out the camera.

If you're using MPC HC just press CTRL-J during playback, I'm curious to hear if frame rate is close to 60, it will be very nice breakthrough, in theory, hardware supports this...

1080p video is at 30.77 fps. Let me take a 720 video and check that now.
---------- Post added at 11:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 AM ----------
720 is at 27 fps.

Actually is it possible to enable HDR video? Or is it a ROM-level thing not kernel?

This is awesome news if it works. I followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039553
but they seem to have reached a dead end in terms of actually improving quality, rather than just file size. I'm curious how you managed to enable high profile AVC, since the last I heard, it seemed to be locked in the driver somewhere (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35804435&postcount=160)
Also, I don't think there's hardware support for 60fps 1080p, only 60fps 720p.

Re: Nexus 4 camera recording(AVC high profile & LEVEL 4) (kernel)
I did set thw framefrate as 60fps can someone use a modded profile.xml and test fps??

Thats one thing i definitely want on this device i dont think its impossible the hardware is there afaik it can handle hdr video

Re: Nexus 4 camera recording(AVC high profile & LEVEL 4) (kernel)
I flashed the XML from the other thread and it actually lowered my fps to 24. And it made video look choppy for some reason.

q...is it possible to make 720p video recording for our ace???

hi
i know this inocent and silly question ..
this thing comes in my mind when i have seen one threat on xda dev for defy about making 720p hd video recording by applying patch....
my question is whether it is possible to make HD video recording for our famous ace through any method ? ??????
is it any way to improve picture and video quality?

It is, according to the old Qualcomm developer site(2010-2011 June (RIP!) ) it had a datasheet of our chipset 720p recoding is posible at ~24 FPS so it will be slow(30 FPS is slow but optimal for video recording)
But developing it will be hard (a lot of kernel and lib mods will be needed)
And im 25% sure that samsung's camera lib sources are needed, and they are closed source.
Alternatively we can try porting S5830i(different ARMv6 chipset) HD recording to our phone too.
---------- Post added at 10:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ----------
OK good news GT-S5830i sources are available
https://opensource.samsung.com/index.jsp
So now we can try to port its HD recording to our phone!!
MSM7227A-T =/= MSM7227-T lol
Herpderp Defy.
720p recording on a 800Mhz Processor!!!!!
Its a kind of OVerkill itself dude..........
So its not immpossible but its too difficult that means

It's likely not to happen.
Ace is running 800Mhz.
Even if overclocked, you need to rebuild system components for this to happen.
Means processor is not capable of recording hd frames.
Is the camera given is capable of it?

Not yet. Because i thought, the 10Mbps is not that different from 6Mbps so i'll go straight through to 14Mbps. But if in demand, i'll upload one.
I just thought it would be good to use, considering I don't overclock my Arc, so 14mbps might not be too great at 1ghz.

my arc s is usable again, yay. thanks. the 14mbps for video is so unexplainably awesome. i bought this mainly cuz of its sensor, now with the 14mbps mod the camera is finally usable.
thanks
UPDATE: the WVGA 864x480 is encoding at 4mbps. that should probably be raised too. also, how about the 720p @ 12mbps so the cpu can handle it without overclocking and without having to switch to the smartassv2 governor (i am using ondemand) for battery purposes. night kernel for arc doesnt have bfq either, which is supposed to be super good for video recording.
Mod updated with 5MP option enabled for 8MP shooter
I wonder if someone can port ICS camera with "tap object to focus" feature to GB?

Sony Bravia 3 engine

UPDATED TO BRAVIA 3!
Sony BRAVIA Engine 3 Ported To The Galaxy Note II
ALL MODELS
The Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 3 is a video enhancement program for Sony phones. It uses filters and algorithms to create a clearer and more contrasted picture and an overall smoother experience. This is perfect for the Note II's huge HD screen but can be a little to saturated for people like photographers who want to see how the photo looks exactly with out any enhancements. The change is not huge but is definitely noticeable if two devices are compared. This program is very light weight and works with all models of the Note II so far.
Quote:
While the latest BRAVIA ENGINE 3 builds on tried and tested BRAVIA ENGINE technology, it does so with the advantage of a new picture processing software.
This new technology has allowed BRAVIA ENGINE to improve - even in respect to its own dazzling performance:
Contrast. Increased depth and clarity, as well as new light control technology to control peak brightness levels, means stunning images even on the brightest of scenes.
Colours. New colour histogram technology detects and optimises overall colour distribution of each frame. This technology delivers breathtaking colour by making millions of improvements to each frame before you even see it.
Detail. Advanced Noise Reduction lies behind BRAVIA’s ability to show you every blade of grass on a football pitch and really put you at the heart of the action.

See the pic below of before and after. Here is the difference try watching HD videos with a note 2 with non Bravia engine BE2 and your current BE3 you will notice change in colors they are rich in BE3. Believe me I have done that with my friends note 2 and samsung store note 2

Dude, that's just for Sony Devices. We won't get much effect in Note II. And we already have DEE feature in most Kernels to do what it does - Perseus Redpill or whatever.

How to minimize CPU usage when touching screen on Qualcomm CPU.?

My battery drains alot faster when I touch my screen like when I text, Whatsapp or browse.
It's not draining as fast when I simply stream video or watch movies which require minimum screen interaction..
I stream a lot of videos on YouTube and use torrent in background when watching videos (usually downloading the next episode of a a series). And yet my battery doesn't drain as much. I think it's the CPU usage is high when I touch the screen.
I want to minimize CPU usage when touching screen.
In Mediatek CPU devices we can edit etc/perfservscntbl.txt to minimize CPU usage when touching screen. Is there any such file for Snapdragon CPU (S410 in my case)?

Yes my phone is rooted and I have installed both L Speed and Kernel Auditor mod.
Is there any specific settings in those apps which might reduce CPU usage when touching the screen?
I can't seem to find any specific touchscreen related CPU settings apart from Glove mode(which is disabled) in Kernel Auditor mod which I believe increases CPU usage.
