[Q] batter charge time? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my i9100 takes at least 4 hours to fully charge. i bought it recently as a used product. is this normal? what time do u guys get? i guess the phone is 1.5 years old judging from its condition..

Form empty/close to empty, that's fairly normal, tho with a new-ish battery you might get maybe half an hour faster. Given the age of the phone, try a new battery (chances are you're going to need one soon anyways if that's the battery that came with the phone).

Actually it should take around 3 hours..
Because 1.6/0.7= 2.29 hr
1.6 is your battery capacity whereas 0.7 is your charger output current.. so based on the theory.. your phone should charge with in 2.3 hr..

2000 mah Battery

Hey guys I'm getting my new 2000mah battery tomorrow and I want to know some precautions. OK first - when I get it should I put it in the phone and use my phone until it drops to one percent and then recharge fully to 100? Or, should I charge the battery immediately after I get it (assuming it will be at like 50%). Thanks all

After 50% charge it over night (mobile off) . Use it till 50%, charge it over night (mobile off). Repeat it one more time. Than you can use it as usual.
That's how I do it. Read some technical information to know why.

Just wondering, how much did you pay for the battery?

Plug in battery, charge, use phone.
Profit.?
Modern batteries don't need any fancy charging regime. Just use it and charge it as you see fit. It will perform better once it's been used for a couple of weeks and had a few good full charges, but it is not required.
How much is this battery? And how many hours more do you get with it?
Bought it for like 40 bucks from Expansys and it will be here in 13 days lol. Also thanks for tips

Any particular day of the week you have to perform this bizarre charging ritual ? Do i need a special hat ? maybe sacrifice a goat ?

Battery life?

Hi,
I was comparing battery life to my desire s. I know there are different specs and the galaxy s 3 needs a bigger battery for the screen etc but I charged the desire s to a 100% and took it of charge. It took around 10 minutes for that percentage to drop to 99% while using the phone and considering it has a smaller battery. On the galaxy s 3 when I take it off charge it goes straight from 100 to 99 and while using the phone for the same time 10 minutes the battery has decreased dramatically to about 94.
I am on RGUI rom with siyah kernel

No day is considered complete without at least one new topic about battery issues or low RAM.
Please let me stress that the forum search has no issues and works fairly well... one needs to use it tough.
Li-Ion packs don't like being fully charged or fully discharged, so the phone's integrated charger only goes to 99% and keeps it there on trickle charge which will significantly extend the phone's average battery life.
It doesn't matter tough if your phone goes from 100% to 99% instantly or stays at 100% for 10 minutes; the overall capacity (from fully charged to power-off) is the only relevant factor. And that one should be better
Thanks for the info but I see my desire s battery better though

U say ur desire had better batterylife. Did u have 3g or wifi on on both? My galaxy s2 lasted 4 days with 64 orosent left. Almost no screen on time and 3g and wifi off. It wasn't better than s3 when using it the same way.

3.7 battery.

I currently have a 3.8 battery in my release day rezound. It has pretty crappy life and I was wondering, is it worth it to buy a 3.7 battery? What are your experiences if you switched?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I've got both and I can't tell the difference between the two when using them. The only difference is the 3.7 fully charges in my battery charger, but the 3.8 only charges to like 80% just like in our early ICS days.

Take it to Verizon and have them switch it out.. they should do it no pro lem the 3.8 actually don't work right with ICS..
Something to do with the way the system reads the battery stats.

The 3.8v vs 3.7v thing doesn't matter anymore with ICS. It's been fixed for a looong time. Like I said, the only difference is with my external battery charger.
Edit: But yeah, if the battery performance is degrading see if they'll swap it out.

I use an external charger as well the one I had before was an OEM rezound charger it didn't fully charge my 3.8 either. the one I have now is actually made for digital cameras but it works great and fully charges my batteries in about two to three hours..you can find em at Wal-Mart by the sd cards and digital cameras. It's universal.. I charge about four different batteries everyday.. drill, two different phones, my daughters play phonn (old android with a broken charging port)

yep what ^^ they said. you're still under the umbrella of 1 year warranty so take it to them.
I've had 3.8 since the get-go. I've never over heated or had bad battery life with any of the firmware. I am currently S-Off, have the most current version of ICS, and am using a custom ROM.
I get approx. 13 hours with 2+ hours of display time and moderate use.

Are you using an original charger?
Are you using a wall or USB charge?
I have original 1650 mAh battery and it takes roughly about 2.5 - 3 hrs to charge from 0% to 100% using original Samsung charger
It will more if you bigger battery or you are charging USB or with nonstandard charger

i use original charger and battery(1650mah) only from samsung but still it is taking more time around 4 hours.
is there any problem with my battery or mobile?
i purchased it 6 months befoe.
Bro battery charging time depends whether you are using the phone or not... because if you are using it continuously while charging screen n processor drains alot of juice...so it will take alot of time but if phone is in deep sleep it will charge faster...as simple as that..!!

Mine takes about 3.5 hours with the original charger and battery. So, depending on your usage it can be normal.
From a wall charger mine is taking around 3 and a half hours stock battery... yours seems fine...

Have you heard about undervolting and overvolting? and if you install a kernel like Siyah you can adjust the values needed to make your charging faster.

But the charging is still limited to 650mA, since the hardware only has three modes.. 90mA which is never used, 450mA which is for usb charging and 650mA which is for charging with an adapter.

I think its alright! Yup its little slow but its fine! When I was having a stock S3, it used to take 2 + hrs for complete charging (0%-100%)
If you are not satisfied then you can change your charger!
Or if you are are rooted user then u can try by changing charging settings in your kernel(only if u have a custom kernel)!
Press thanks if it helped you! :silly:
Yea, no need to panic. Same here.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
You could use a custom kernel modifing the charge settings but BE CAREFUL, could be dangerous for your battery if you will exaggerate
The older your battery is then the smaller it's capacity and the quicker it will charge. A brand new battery should take around 4 hours to charge, so your battery has lost 40% of it's original capacity -assuming your charger and internal charging circuit of the phone remain to spec.
