[Q] If i ROOT will i be able to get more games? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I have an xperia X10 mini Pro. now i have a verry stupid question (and i think i posted this on the wrong section, sorry for that my first time on the forum). my question is: will i be able to play games that are not compatibel with my phone ( icon pop quiz,...) if i root? or will it make no difference
and if it will help can sombody like explain in short how to root and what about roms ..
I know there are alot of treads but i want you to like give me advise on what is the best for me?
will i lose my data on phone and sdcard?
what are the risico's?
thanks to the ones that are going to help me.
if there is exact the same tread can you send me a link ( i looked for 10 minutes but dident find what i was looking for)

Hey You can have any game in your U20i ,there is only one problem that you have ,that is were you able to play a game in your mini pro! Rooting your x10MP does not delete your sd data (but may your phone data, if you upgrade to another firmware and root, will delete phone data ).
heres the link for rooting- forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950324
And another thing please go through x10MP section before asking this kind of questions!

Hey, bro!
First of all, there are no stupid questions, weŕe all learning here .
Rooting, in itself, doesnt let you play more Games/Apps.If you want to use more and especially newer apps, you will have to install a Custom ROM on your device, commonly known as flashing. A custom ROM is a is an android operating system that is different from your latest "official"(made by SonyEricsson) OS. Custom ROMs for our device are very practical, because our latest official Android version is 2.1, which doesnt support many apps. Currently, the best working custom ROMs for our Phone are the ones based on 2.3 Gingerbread.
To get the very best out of your Phone, you will have to unlock your bootloader (which is slightly risky) and flash a custom kernel, which is also part of a new Android OS(tutorials you will find in the following link).
If the procedure of unlocking your bootloader is to risky/difficult for you, there is another alternative: to flash a ROM based on your preinstalled("stock") kernel. For this you HAVE to root your phone, which doesnt have any risks and isnt difficult, install xrecovery (a program to install new ROMs) and then flash a "stock kernel based" ROM. Everything else you need to know is in this Links:
All custom ROMs and Tutorials for xrecovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588192
For unlocking your bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462278
PS.: You wont lose any on your sdcard and phone if you just root your Phone. If you flash a new ROM, you will lose the data on your Phone, but not the data on your sdcard.
Please hit the THANKS button if I helped .

hi pal ,
read forum first , root solution is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
it`s easy, you must have pc with windows and usb cabel.
flashing actualy have benefit with overclocking. if you don`t need it, may be better is use some upgrades inside phone ... like framework (transparency menu, some widgets in notifications area, new battery icon etc. )

right now there are only two roms for ray
cyanogenmod and MIUI , both are impressive
thanks again for the reply and the help its very much appreciated
My daughters Ray wil be arriving before xmas and part of the present is that I get a new phone to play with.
I am currently on wolfbreaks 2.3.3 TW GB ROM for x10 with doomkernel v06 medium OC.
I have seen a post above this saying that there are only 2 custom roms for the ray, is that still the case?
The cyanogen rom will be the fxp50, (Available on the cyanogen mirror network) but can I use doomkernel (For fxp based roms) on that rom?
Many thanks for any advice, and I look forward to contributing more in this forum.
Regards,
Greg
just to let you know guys rooted the phone and unlocked bootloaders without losing DRM and was very simple thanks for the help and advice now to find some nice custom roms and try them out

Yes I still need help >>>
I wanna to Update my android 2.2.2 to higher versions that possible .
Did you try this?
I've tried this app more than one time and it always failed to complete the misssion .
I hope you have another way to done this upgrade .
waiting for your reply.//.
Does the FOTA app on the device report that there is an update? Did you try to download it and install it over the air with the use of this app? What happened?
There is a way to install Gingerbread on OT-990 and it is explained on this forum, but, lot of providers have decided to stay on Froyo since GB on this device is known to drain baterry fast.
If You still want to experiment with upgrading Your software search forum, here is complete guide.
Let me remind You that this will void Your warranty and if you make a mistake device can be bricked.
Once You install ROM from instructions in link, Yo can install another GB custom ROM, I sugest Marina Lite.
But you must know, custom roms require new bootloader wich is included in first tutorial (first link)
And, yes, when you ask a question, try to be more specific. I didn't understand a thing from first post (or, I couldn't find question in it)
thanks for your work , but this way isn't fully and i don't get my phone rooted yet .
So, you can instruct me to root my phone first .
thanks for you time .....

[Q] HTC Sensation - How to backup/extract ROM?

Hello, I am a newby in Android, I got my new HTC Sensation with Android some days ago and I would like to change several things on it, but before doing it and to be safe safe I would like to do a backup of the phone as I got it (well, let say after the first answers to the first questions it asks you when powered on first time), as I did with my old (and broken ) HTC P3600 with WM.
I have been searching forums (including this one) and I find tools and tutorials for doing it in Windows Mobile or for Applications, but I didn't find it (or I was not able to find it) for the full smartphone, including the ROM Android-based.
Where could I find a guide, tutorial, how-to, tool for doing it?
Thanks so much

Hello guys! I hope I'm posting in the right section of the forum.
Here I go: I am a new and kinda prown owner of a HTC Sensation. After I debranded it, I'd like to instal a software package containing Romanian Language.
Because I'm a newbie when it comes about Android (using since 201 Nokia), I got stuck in some, childish (maybe) questions.
So, What STOCK Rom do I have to install after installing 'RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed' in order to be able to have Romanian menu.
The second q: Do I need to S-OFF my phone everytime I installl a stock ROM?
And the last one: there SO versions are newer, the bigger their nomber is (RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2 is newer than say...RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.1?
Thanks in advance guys, keep up the good work!

you can flash any rom that have romanian menu..
2. You need to reboot after flashing roms
3.yup guess so
Well, that's easier to say than do (4 me). Which ROM do u reccommend that contains Romanian language, or how can I see if it does or not?
Thank you a lot dude!
LE: So, all I have to do is to download the sowtfare version containing romanian language (that u will hopefully provide) and install it. No need 4 s-off-ing (whatever that means) again?

[Q] Miui rom to my xperia x10 phone

Hello,
I am new at the rooting scene and i hope this is the right forum to post this.
I got my xperia x10 for 1.5 years now and i want to try something new.
When i was searching on the internet i found the new miui rom and it looked incredible. Now i looked to every possible thread on this xda forum database but i still didnt find out how to get this miui rom on my xperia x10. After reading many different threads i do not see the difference between rooting flashing and roms.
I am thinking this: do i need to root my telephone first, then flash it and then i can put a rom on it?
Other thing i was wondering is the thing with locked and unlocked bootloaders. I have a standard 2.3.3 version of android xperia x10 and i never did something with it. Do i need to unlock bootlader to get a miui rom or is this not needed.
My specs:
modelnumber x10i
Android version 2.3.3
Smalband version 2.1.71
Kernel version 2.6.29-00054
Sorry for asking these noob questions but when i look to the miui forum i see methods for locked and unlocked bootloaders.
I hope someone want to help me with getting the miui rom on my telephone, because i am 1000% not as smart as all of u are with phones
with kind regards,
Jeroen

Hey ,
First of all, yes u will need to root your phone before flashing ROMs.
And about the bootloader question.. Most of the MiUI ROMs requires a unlocked bootloader, but ofc some of them will work on locked too.. If u want to get the most out of ur phone, u can easily unlock bl using flashtool.

thnx for ur comment... well im still looking to the forums hehe to learn more.
So i can root my phone with xrecovery? and then i can also flash roms with xrecovery? but i have .73 and everyone is talking about .48 and .52 whats with that
Pick a rom and see what you need.Be aware that rooms have bugs, help is sometimes slow in forthcoming and to see what's going on may require you to read 100s of posts in that rooms thread AND some links for download may be dead.
Anyway first thing to do is set up your PC properly with flash tool/PC companion and flash/root the phone.
I would then read and bookmark the guides on here, and see how to make a backup.
Then you can see what rom you would like, see what kernel is needed and if you need/want to unlock the boot loader.
You could maybe have a crack at *oodies primex* rom to start off with.

When You're on a stock ROM it would be better for You to root and unlock Your bootloader now, else You won't be able to unlock Your bootloader later.
Here are all the files You'll need to do this.
kernel
Dear jakuburban,
Thnx for your reply on my message. I am currently at my work so i cannot open your help file. I am looking forward to it when i am at home. I did some research today on the forum and i finally understand i need to flash root and unlock my xperia x10.
But the only thing i do not understand is the kernel. There are many different kernels and i do not know wish one i need to use.
I want to get the corbrato MIUI rom based on 2.3.7 android. I got currently 2.3.3 android on my telephone. So do i need to take the 2.3.3 kernel or the 2.3.7 one? and whats the difference between the kernels and what one is the best to take?
I hope you or someone else can answer this.
Thnx for helping!!!
Kind regards,
Jeroen

2.3.3 and 2.3.7 are the versions of the ROM not Kernel. Kernels are mostly calle after a developer so for example DooMLorD kernel, which I think is the best for You. It works on stock-based ROM's and on a MIUI (It takes a little bit long too boot).

[Q] General Q's for galaxy s2 :)

Hello , I want to make few important (for me ) questions about Roms , kernels , etc etc because i plan to Upgrade My galaxy s2 gt-i9100!
answer as many questions you can .. This will help me a lot :good:
1 : Right now i have GB 2.3.3 rooted , with stock JB will be even faster i guess right? If yes I would like to know what's the best ROM'S to use I want fast Phone , with good UI and multi window if possible?
2 : I would need costum Kernel too ? its dangerus to stay at official kernel and flash Rom's for test? If other kernel is needed , Suggest me the most balanced and SAFE from brick ! IMPORTANT !
3 : I used a program called eMMC check and show me Brick Bug : NO. sane chip , so i guess Im 100% safe from unwanted brick ****s? ( If i do everything fine ) XD
4 : Any suggests about the procces? Many of you have done this lot of times , so you have tricks that will help you for a safe root / install of rom /kernel
5 : Any way of backup the correct rom in case of fail? I tryed CMW recovery and this **** show me an error when starting the procces of backup haha I read on forum this happens because of stock ROM and Kernal , So i will not need backup , in case of fail , i will just download the files from samobile >odin > and done right?
6 : in any case ! My phone will work on my carrier right? i will need any edit / mod to work on gsm networks etc?

1. Against forum rules to answer this. Read the sticky.
JB is not necessarly faster, it depends on how you use your device. Yes the software is an improvement in some cases but, as said, doesn't mean that it's faster.
2. You can root with custom kernel, and if you flash a rom they always come with a kernel. JB kernles are free from brickbug, the only vulnerable version was 4.0.4.
3. Read 2
4. Rooting process? C'mon there are thousands of root guides all over the internet (especially XDA).. if we spoonfeed you the appropriate information, you wont learn much. So go search for a guide yourself, they all fit for different people.. and one of them will fit for you
5. CWM is the best way to backup, it literally backups everything. Yes, it will work much much better on custom kernels.
6. Yes your phone will work on your carrier even if you install custom roms.

Multi window isn't officially available on the S2.....there is at least one custom ROM which offers this, but you'll have to research it.....
Hint....look for the sticky thread for a list of ROMs and scroll to stock or Sammy based and you'll find it at the beginning of the alphabet lol......
