Lag in games. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'll cut to the chase and lay out my problem:
Rom: MiUI 3.2.1
Kernel: Perseus alpha33
For some reason, contrary to positive reviews from Galaxy S 3 owner, Real Racing 3 is very Laggy on my phone.
I took some time out to troubleshoot the issue but to no avail. I downloaded the Fps meter app and here are the results:

It seems that the game is barely running at 30 frames per second which is causing significant performance issues.
Is anyone else, who has the game, facing similar issues? Or is the game running perfectly fine?
Also, is there any way I can improve or increase the frame rate? Or is it up to the developer (EA) to optimise the game?
Cheers!

Mine is really bad. I've resorted to playing it on the Asus Transformer Prime for the time being. Hoping they would release an update to fix the issue.

mine is fine, but unplayable on the prime

Most probably some coding issue.. I guess the developers will make it more efficient

Same here
I experience some lag also, it doesn't make the game too hard to play, but it is a little annoying
one way I was able to get rid of almost all the lag is by switching the CPU governor to PERFORMANCE for the time I am playing the game, but I have a rooted SIII with cyanogenmod ROM installed....the thing is that it consumes the battery very fast and gets a little hot, but after all it is a big and impressive game

[Q] Very low benchmark scores in CPU benchmarks only...

Hey guys.
I'm having a weird issue on my Atrix. I'm currently running on Gingeblur v1.3 rooted with Gladroot.
As stated above for some reason all CPU benchmarks I run with the phone get me a much lower than the anticipated score for such a device.
I'm getting somewhere about 1350 in Quadrant and around 18 in Linpack, which i think are quite low compared to what other people are reporting.
Interestingly enough in GPU benchmarks this is not the case, I'm getting around 55 fps in Neocore which is about right i think for Atrix.
All apps run fine so i dont really think this is big issue but its very puzzling to say the least
Has anyone else had this issue before?
I have some screenshots if anyone is interested to help/advice as to what might be going on.

FPS and overall speed dropdown, phone get laggy more and more.
I run benchmark test with quadrant and antutu.
There is 2 situation with both.
1. HOT - after playing games
2. Cold - wake up from stand by and run bench
Also did anyone else noticed this kind of problem?

known issue already, nothing to really worry about.. just don't use the processor to its max for now Sony will update the fw again soon i think..
While I haven't run benchmarks when the device is hot nor do I play many games on it I do feel the overall system starts to slow down and lag when the device gets hot. But then again every phone seems to do that, at least in my experience.
its normal behaviour on desktop PCs.. the processor slows down from like 1,5ghz to 800mhz or something like that to cool down and to not get damaged.. and the reboot issues when hot are just like bluescreens on windows ..
There is an app in the system called powersavemodule.apk that control the cpu when it's hot.

Antutu strange results

Morning all!
Just downloaded antutu and keep getting scores between 8 -9000. Seems weird and other s3 users stock get 12000? Is there something wrong with my phone?
It also says that my cpu is a triple core arm7?
Thanks
Jonny

Long shot, but you're not in power saving mode by any chance are you?
if you are running the benchmarks when the temp is high ,then it will result in lower scores.
pls post your questions in Q & A section
Remove any cup related apps like setcpu and restart

I am getting 10k plus , am I missing anything ? by the way how's the credibility of antutu ?
Benchmark results depends upon how free your CPU is for ex: if you have rebooted your phone and instantly ran a benchmark you will attain low scores because CPU is busy loading apps and caching memory, also if you have lots of apps running in background will adversely affect scores.Whenever I run Quadrant right after booting my phone I get 5200 and few hours later it jumps to 5500! it clearly shows CPU needs some time to idle completely.
Dont use Antutu it sucks.Use quadrant it takes less time and gives better results.
If every thing is fine then you should see scores like that

AntuTu pretty consistent .
But as noted results vary i like to clear all programs and ram running start AnTuTu and carry out five tests taking highest as best .
Current average across all roms is around the 12100 mark .

Games That Can Handle This Thing's Screen Resolution

I'm loving my Nexus 10 but one thing I'm noticing is that even so-called HD games like Angry Birds Star Wars HD are subject to pixel smoothing because this thing's resolution is so high. Does anyone know of any games available right now that look really sharp and crisp on this screen? Just looking to show it off!
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
didn't NOVA 3 get an update for it?
NOVA 3, Riptide GP, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Heroes Call and more all run fantastically and seem to be running at the Nexus' native res. Then again I didn't notice the 'pixel smoothing' you're talking about with Angry Birds, either.
I would expect any sprite based-game like angry birds to have smoothing, until they are updated with new ultra high resolution sprites. And any real time rendered 3d game shouldn't need any modification except maybe for menus and HUDs (wich are usually sprite-based).

I played a match on Very Ultra or whatever highest is and won Can't say what the FPS was exactly, but it wasn't jumping everywhere, nor was it too low.

Real Racing 3 aliasing and stuttering

I have problem with RR3 on Samsung Galaxy S9+ (Exynos version). Software version attached. My game is 3.6.1.0.
Game is stuttering always, at most when other cars are visible on the screen. Aliasing is very visible also. I switched from HTC U11 (Android 8 also) and there game was perfectly beautiful and butter smooth.
Doesn't matter if I use FHD+ or WQHD.
Could you help me with poor graphics on S9+?

I play it every day, not having any issue...
*edit*
Also using Snapdragon version though...
Galaxy Note 9 Exynos user here. Unfortunately it seems the Exynos Mali GPU is not as powerful as the Adreno GPU in SD845, but whether this is the cause of the differences in performance is another question. I was running into bad aliasing earlier, performance not too bad but some occasional stuttering. Have you tried using Game Tuner app from Samsung? You can force games to run at QHD resolution by turning the resolution slider ratio to 100%, otherwise the game will run at a lower resolution by default (not even 1080p!). If you get stuttering, try the Real Racing 3 Graphics app which is an unofficial app that allows you to adjust graphics settings. It can't really do much about the aliasing though. I set it to "average high" rather than "high" because the game ran smoother and the aliasing is not as apparent (there's less shininess to the cars but not too bad).
It's ridiculous as my two previous devices had this low resolution issue (HTC Butterfly s and Sony Xperia Z5) and people have complained about it before back in the days of the Nexus 7 tablet, but the developers seemed unwilling to solve it. That in itself put me off playing this game for a long time.
Buttery smooth and no aliasing on my exynos s9+. I keep it on performance mode.
