I made a game for Windows Phone 8 . It supports the resolutions 1280x768 , 1280x720 and 800x480 . I tested it on the emulator and it ran fine without any problems( I don't have a real phone to test it). So I submitted it to the Windows Phone Store. But it got rejected! You are most likely another victim of visual studio 2012's poor exception handling. Just run it again under various emulators till you get to the bottom of things.
I will test it once I get to my laptop. I have a Lumia 920. Bookmarked

What other emulators do you suggest? I tested it on the official emulator which comes with the windows phone SDK. The reviewers tested it on HTC 8S, Nokia Lumia 822 (Atlas) and they say it silently terminates at launch.

Visual Studio 2012 has a very bad way of show you when things go south.
In the App.Xaml.cs file, go to the unhandled exception manager, and put a breaking point in there. Also put a breaking point in each of your application's methods. Follow the execution and see where it jumps from where it should he to the unhadeled exception manager.
When you figured out where the exception occurs, try it again, and look in the values of your variables(place your mouse cursor over them). Check to see if any of them is null, or 0, or something like that.

EDIT: So, I deployed it to my 920, and it crashes on startup. I don't have time to try and debug now, sorry. I will debug it as soon as I can though

Anyway, here is a word document that explains how to install Order and Chaos onto the Transformer Prime using a Chinese method.
ROOT REQUIRED TO GET THE GRAPHICS WORKING! Chainfire 3D is used to emulate a Qualcomm processor. Without this the game will not get past the "Play" button after character creation.
tegra2 apk of order and chaos works great on tf prime without any further patching and rooting. But its not legal to post it here, so you guys should look it up.

dood, i TOTALLY apologize for my stupids. so i did some research because when i saw your post, i thought ''theres no WAY i paid 7 bucks for that!". order and chaos ran on sale a while back for a buck. i got it then. my bad. can we please still be friends?
So I somehow managed to find a copy of Order and Chaos which worked perfectly on my unrooted prime, alone, and without the help of other hacks or apps. I found it simply by searching "Order and Chaos tegra 2". I have no idea if it was hacked or altered, but it just worked. It was able to download and log into version 1.0.9
As irony would have it, on the very same night I found a working version (3 or 4 nights ago at this point), my celebration was cut short when all the servers went down and updated to version 1.1.0. Of course now my 1.0.9 was unable to log into the servers and I haven't been able to find a working version of 1.1.0.
Its out there, a copy of 1.1.0 which doesn't require the rooting and altering initially suggested by this post. If anyone finds it, let us know where. It would be a remarkable feat and a great in-your-face to Gameloft.
I'm currently working on getting a 1.1.0 version working. So far I have it starting but then crashing before "Touch to Start Playing" pops up :/

i would appreciate any info, as i have purchased this app on my galaxy s 2 when they ran it on sale a while back. i just think playing on the prime would be MUCH better

Looks like this does a device check like all the others . Worth the shot though, thank you.
In the meantime I've been having a nice time playing touchscreen World of Warcraft through Splashtop HD, and its working very nicely .
I hadn't realized that it does a device check *after* the data download. I thought the device check was initiated prior to the data download.
You can bypass the device check by downloading the cracked version by Muzhiwan (google it). However, I have been struggling to get it to get to the Main Menu. Crashes before Touch to Continue pops up. If anyone manages to get it to work it would be great.
I think the problem is the graphics renderer. It all works until graphics have to be rendered (loaded at touch to continue). Chainfire has had no luck so far getting this to work. :/
New update taking care of a lot of issues rwported by users.
Tried going the Muzhiean route but their PC software is in Chinese.

i bought the game today on my galaxy nexus. Played fine on it. Then i did a titanium backup, took the apk, then shared the apk to my TP.
Game loads up but a message pops up to say the device is not compatible but "you can try anyway". So i clicked OK. and bam... it just closes.
i guess the only way to get it on the TP is when gameloft decide its about time they fix it for us!

Everything is "coming soon". If Microsoft can't even get the VOIP service which they paid BILLIONS for to boost the appeal of Windows Phone to actually release with WP8 on time, I can only see this as harbinger of them following Nokia in their own demise, which is ironic since they are the ones currently propping up the near-death company.

would you rather have an unfinished product like apple maps?
so far the Lumia and WP8 have not had any problems at all. all i hear so far is slight software issues with daylight photos, which can be fixed easily.
Iphone 5 = bubbling screen, light leaking out of the top of white model, extremely easily scratched back which apple claimed to be normal and told their customers to deal with it. apple maps failure, screen flicker issues, and battery issues. yet nobody will ever talk down upon apple, only people who instantly criticize anything slightly wrong with a new innovative phone.
same goes for a surface article titled something like "why windows rt is bad" and they said it sucked because only a few companies have tablets out for windows rt and you cant install your own os on these tablets. these arguments make no sense at all. since when did more than one company make iOS tablets? since when could you install ur own OS on any tablet without mods/hacks? they also complained that u cant buy windows RT software off the shelf....why the hell would u want to buy a tablet OS off a shelf?
The preview has been released today and seems to be working fine on my device.

I have been out of the Windows development scene since Windows Mobile 6.5 and have just picked up a Nokia Lumia 920 and am itching to jump back in with augmenting the app availability. I trolled through the Microsoft WP8 site and am ready to pull the trigger on their dev program.
Before doing that, I wanted to check in here to see how other's foray into this has gone, since WP8 is so new. I have my Windows 8 Pro PC setup with VS 2012 and am in the process of pulling in the SDK.
Any words of wisdom, gotch yas, etc. from folks already down the rabbit hole?

I'm hoping to get involved in Windows Phone 8 development myself since the app market seems brimming with opportunity, although I was a bit disappointed that it seems like you have to have windows 8 to use the windows phone 8 SDK (unless there is another version I couldn't find). I'll have to wait until my next pay check before I can purchase a new copy of Windows 8.
In the meantime, has anyone been able to get the tethering option working on a locked off contract at&t phone? I'm using mine with Straight Talk, which allows tethering, but the ROM loaded on my AT&T nokia blocks users from tethering. Is there anyway of bypassing that via hack, or by loading firmware from a different region?

You shouldn't wait too long to upgrade to Win 8. They have some pretty awesome deals right now.

Two days ago I have published a FREE game on windows phone store. Here is the link:

Anyway the game is a port from Android and iOS. I thought I will try WP8 this time as well (I have no experiance with this platform). After two days in the store I have NO reviews and the game is not even in new + rising section. MSFT says that download data will be available after 10 days (for new apps) but I already can tell that they will be horrible.
On iOS I had few hundred downloads on the first day and the app is PAID on iOS so I assumed it would be much better on WP8 where it is FREE. Maybe someone could check the app and let me know if I made any mistakes when publishing or the game is just crappy ?

An interesting game, however, I think the main problem for not having reviews is that it is for polish market, although can be downloaded. Try advertising it a bit more

Thanks for your feedback. I am in Poland but do you say that it is not downloadable in other countries or is it "rather for polish customers"?
Also I have noticed that I included polish version link above. Sorry for this (changed to english).
It is downloadable, but I have found it just when searching specifically for it, when I saw everything on the link u left here. So if I do not know about the game or some app I cannot download it, because it won't be shown to me. That is the reason for which u have to advertise it more. Also, I am getting rather annoyed by the multiple "animations" between the levels... Would be also great to make it universal - for tablets and desktops... I don't like playing on my phone, but am enjoying it on my tablet.

No movie playback app only the one provideed by microsoft that doesnt let you skip per secend but per some what seconds....i mean...ftw and i constantly have to cut/paste to let the movies be visible in it or use a 3d party app (moliplayer) and paste vid in my camera roll......
I really like the OS and how it handles some things butt the lack of good coded and full fuetured apps is a realllll deal breaker for me,so i factory reset the lumia and threw it in a corner and back on my xperia z again until win10 drops and hopefully the development on the apps will be much greater so that every fueture and so on will work great,
Sorry to spam u guys butt if you guys have some good tips for me i will be truely be greatfull, i know i have android in my blood since it launched so im a little spoiled fueture wise

Wait for windows 10. All I can say. If that doesn't excite you , or provide the features that you need, then go back to android. But Microsoft is really pushing it to new heights. Wait and see as they say
If only app development would be more suitible,likr apps that work better that would make a real diffetence

Man I completely agree with you. Jay here, and my story is the same as yours , I have been a long time fan WinMO for like a decade str8, then i hopped on the Green machine for a long while, and about 5 months ago I switched to WP8 with the HTC One M8 for Windows just for something new ,and I feel like I have a Palm Pre in my hand, the OS is super stable and smooth, But there just no one backing it, Even HTC is discontinung their own apps, Its just sad, Everyone is jumping ship for this platform, and I cant wait to go back to android in about a month, Summed up in 2 words Lesson Learned!
I have the l930 and a HTC m8 (android) but the only one I have in use is the l930. All apps I need are available for Windows and the system experience is much more polished and fluid. Apps are sometimes not good as on Android but its enough for me.
Pictures taken with the 930 are the best pics I have ever seen on phone.
Much much better as on my m8...
If ms can close the app situation windows can really be a competitor.
Please remember this is my opinion and experience and yours can be different

By the way I have been using WP for many years, yes there are still some missing apps, but if you look around there are always good alternatives (in some cases better than original in fact) are available. I only recently sold my Lumia 930 as I already have Lumia 1520 as my daily driver, and couple of other Lumias at home.
a) I can share pics on Whatsapp no issue at all, so I'm not sure what may be the issue at your end. I'd recommend uninstall this app, and then reinstall and see whether this helps.
b) There are few very good file explorers, apart from Microsoft's own File Explorer app, lately I've been using Briefcase and it seems to be a very decent alternative.
c) I've used beta version VLC for many months, and recently it has been released for all WP users, so you can download it from the store. Also Windows 10 for Phones will support MKV right out of the box.
Other good alternatives for: a) MetWeets > Twitter official app; b) 6tag > Instagram official app etc.
If you need any further clarification regarding some app or its alternative, just ask away.
