[Q] Bought a S-off HOX+ off cL, need help - HTC One X+

I purchased a S-off HOX+ off craigslist yesterday, and I am having some issues with it. It is definitely a pmc63100 (HOX+) although the CID is a CWS_001 which I believe is indicative of a regular HOX. It is rooted, unlocked and S-off.
Anyways, the phone has a bunch of developer apps on it that it wouldn't let me remove, so I tried to flash a new rom. As soon as I flashed a different recovery, the phone was basically soft bricked. With the first handful of recovery images I tried wouldn't let me into Android or recovery. I finally found a recovery that lets me boot into recovery (CWM v6.0.2.7 AT&T HOX+), but I still can't get into Android, or get into Android.
I would really like to use Cyanogen or some non-sense rom.
Any ideas, or does anyone have info on this phone?

Yeah I have to get ten posts before I can post a link, but the phone is definitely Evitare_ul and it is S-off.

The phone has three different engraved areas on it, on the back it says "NOT FOR SALE", by the front camera it has some wierd symbols, sort of like 7_|H, and there is a series of numbers on the top left front of the phone "50040652"

There are many ways to S-Off a HOX+. Most of them involve large sums of money, or sending your phone off to some random ppl in russia

It sounds like the 4G HOX+. So make sure you are installing AT&T recoveries not international ones. I'd also try and update your Hboot version. Well done snagging a developer phone tho i bet Lloir would sell a lung for one of those

[Q] Locked bootloader? (AT&T)

I am thinking about getting the AT&T HTC One X+. I was originally going to pick a Nexus 4, but i don't want to wait over a month to get a phone. So, I am wondering if the One X+ for AT&T has a locked bootloader, and if it can be un-locked. I never used HTC sense 4 before, but i am an AOSP guy. I assume it is locked, since the One X(original) for AT&T was locked. But can anyone confirm this?
It is locked but HTC very easily lets you unlock it. Htcdev.com

I followed the normal procedure that I used for the One X and that is shown on the HTCDEV.com website. I dont think there are any roms for the AT&T version right now nor a root procedure.

I smell a sweet **** smell.
You cannot unlock an att one x on htc Dev.
Part of the bootloader unlocking procedure for an att one x involves spoofing the Cid so that htc Dev will allow you to unlock the bootloader. So, to reiterate, you CANNOT unlock an att one x on htcdev.com
So, how does the "normal unlocking procedure" on an att branded one x go?
I know on the original att one x with duel core S4 required the Cid spoofing. But are you sure that's needed for the new one X+ that has the Tegra

Yes, my comments appear to be brash. But I was not actually speaking to him. I was casting a shadow of a doubt upon his claims, so that the untold masses would not take what he said as truth, go out and perform some function on their brand new (att branded) one x+, only to find out they now have an expensive paper weight.
If you don't believe that happens, try this link:forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=101043188

Those threads were for the att one x from people flashing the wrong Rom.... If you simply tried HTC dev with a normal non super cid phone it would give you an error because infact att has HTC block that cid.... Now as the nice gentlemen(not you) posted on the first page that att is letting people unlock the one x plus well see how long that goes for.... With the roms I'm sure they'll be a root version soon and the devs will probably have aroma options to choose what phone you have and maybe flash a different radio according to the chipset of lte or hspa....you flamed someone for a question I was wondering too...have a nice day buddy
Maybe someone else will be able to back up my claims soon.
I just unlocked my At&t One x+ with HTC dev

Tempting, that's a lot of money tho.
There isn't much need for s-off, id only use it to change the splash screen and flash kernels in recovery
Although, if it was that easy then someone should start an s-off service I'd pay $50 to s-off my phone

Sony unlockers can use SETool over a network using teamviewer to unlock the bootloader, on Sony devices. but we tried to S-Off a One X and a sensation XL, The HOX was connected to the PC with the SETool box and that worked fine, but my SXL which was connected via a network got all sorts of errors while trying to execute the exploit. Seems you cant S-off HTC devices over networks with SETool.

[Q] fingerprint scanner for HTC 809d Dual sim

Hi All,
Is there a way to s off my HTC 809d dual sim variant? It is a Chinese CDMA/GSM variant.
The fingerprint scanner was broken when I tried to root it with an App from the App Store. The hboot displayed "Tampered" at the first line. I even had not unlocked it through HTCDev!!!
I saw the thread written by @Punk9(here), he wrote the guide to re-enable the fingerprint scanner, he gives me the hope, although a Sprint variant.
Then I unlocked my phone, compiled a twrp recovery, flashed a unsecured boot, and rooted it. But the rumrunner for HTC One Max does not work, I have tried many times.
Can anyone provide me some helps or informations?
Thanks very much
BTW: The HBoot version is 2.47...

Unlocked Boot loader AT&T = Dev Edition M8?

If I unlocked bootloader on AT&T does it become equivalent to Dev Edition M8 hardware wise? (I know that they come in different software flavors).
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I'm just trying to reason why will anyone want to buy a developer edition?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
The only benefits in buying a dev edition is:
No carrier branding
No preloaded carrier apps
Sim free
Bootloader already unlocked
Faster updates with Sense
But if you unlock your AT&T bootloader and flash a international rom you'll have the same device with no more AT&T apps and settings.
Plus with root you can always flash the latest leaks from any variant
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
So there is nothing s-on or s-off kinda junk limitations? We get fully unlocked bootloader? I'm really happy with this phone in that case!
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
If I'm correct both devices are S-On.. One just has a bootloader unlocked from the factory. And once we get S-Off then it wouldn't matter what rom or RUU you use. You'll be able to SuperCID and do much more

If you don't have a tethering plan, tethering works out of the box on the unlocked and developer models. Then there's the AT&T bloat you can't remove without S-Off.
Other than that, they're pretty much the same and I'm happy with my bootloader unlocked AT&T model, though I would really like to get tethering working.

6. Tethering works
7. Full warranty
If you unlock the bootloader on any other phone, you void your warranty. With the developer edition, your warranty is maintained.

When you unlock your bootloader you void your warranty. We can do whatever we want to our devices and still be covered under HTC Manufacturer Warranty. You Bork your phone you have to find a way to fix it.
Tethering works out the box without being detected as well.
I always find a unbranded version a advantage over a carrier version.

S off your device and than supercid. When all the RUU are released you can flash any of them. Right now we have a GPE conversion. Besides that we can flash any rom we want. Be careful and always remember to read if it is compatible with your model.

My credit card covers my phone warranty for two years as long as I purchased the phone via it. So I'm covered. If something happens, all I gotta do is take a brick and bash my phone with it, my credit card will cover hardware damages as well. Lol.
There are ways around everything, you just need to know it. Either way, I've never been scared to lose crappy warranties just because I felt the need to unlock the phone lol.

Unlocking boot loader MAY void your warranty. In the USA and Europe it will not(unless they can prove 100% that you caused the issue) due to consumer protection laws. Varies by country.

New to HTC.

I just got my phone two weeks ago and love it, coming from a Verizon note 2.
I have been reading a lot about unlocking the HTC M8, and it's seems completely different animal compared to unlocking my note 2 was, so I just want to read and learn a lot before I start messing with this phone.
I had my note 2 down to a science flashing and changing stuff around on it. With the HTC it looks like there is a lot of adb stuff that I'm not to familiar with. I have been reading about hansoons tool kit and it looks pretty straightforward, so any more advice you guys could give me would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Adb is actually pretty easy. There is a video on YouTube from Sakitech that walks you through it
How to Root your HTC One M8 - Full Guide: http://youtu.be/WuHFcGvUjwA
Another thing I can tell you, is it is much easier to use a Windows7 pc to do this than Win8
But once you go down this path, it's like the old days of ROMs and kernels and custom recoveries. Very exciting.

I'm just nervous I guess because the whole root, unlock and recovery is a little different than I am use too and I'm out of my comfort zone.

Now I know the basic benefits of S-Off, but how does it make the M8 more brick proof? Just wondering if it's worth it
You can flash any ruu. Kinda like odining your note back to stock. Currently if you somehow bricked your partitions there is no stock att firmware file. There is a international file that you could flash to fix partitions. If you didn't have super cid you could not do this. Need soff to get super cid. Plus you can remove the tampered text in bootloader, flash newer firmwares way before at&t releases them, truly convert your phone to any m8 variant, truly relock bootloader with no relocked text.

Granted you would have to really try to mess up your partitions.

Thanks for the quick response, forgot about RUU's. I was worried coming from the awesome modding community of the S3, but I'm glad to see this device is just as open and has plenty of support. Good thing returned that S5

Is their any way to "S-On" if I need to for some reason? I'm waiting to unlock because I don't want to use HTCDev. I don't know how long I can wait though haha.

Yes but it throws a security flag.

Okay thanks. That is what I'm trying to avoid- if I have a hardware defect I would like to be able to flash stock like it was never unlocked.

There is no way to do that atm. Hardware defects are usually covered. HTC doesn't void all warranty. I know one person that broke their screen and they said just make sure bootloader is locked when it gets back to them. I always recommend insurance through carrier.

You can't go through life worrying. You could wait and wait and a new method may become available or maybe not.

I too am coming from a note 2. Just like the OP. I'm loving this phone. Had it for 2 weeks now. About to take the plunge soon cause my flashing addiction is getting to me. I guess my question is are the roms from the international m8 be used on this phone as well? Along with the kernels? Sorry for the sounding like a newbie. It's just been years since I've had HTC. The last time was in Windows mobile days.

It should be kept in mind that S-off means all security checks are off. That includes device check. So you have to be careful to only flash mods meant for this device. Accidentally flashing something meant for another device can brick the phone, if for instance it overwrites hboot. Seen it happen on the One X/XL (flashing an ENDEAVORU ROM on an EVITA). But stay in this device forum section, and you will be fine.
With the proper care, I agree that s-off gives more recovery options.

I'm just nervous I guess because the whole root, unlock and recovery is a little different than I am use too and I'm out of my comfort zone.

You must have had some kind of learning curve with your previous device. Every device can be a bit (or very different) and especially different manufacturers. But just take the time to do the proper reading and understanding, and you will be fine.
I'm new to the HTC as well. I had the Motorola Atrix which I unlocked the bootloader via fastboot but still was nervous as anything. I had the S4 and just got this. ADB is my weakness and I've read about the supercid but wasn't sure what the purpose of doing it was off I was rooted and unlocked. Welcome to the M8 .

Yeah its not been to bad of a learning curve just different, previously all my rooting and unlocking has been with Samsung.
I have already rooted my m8 unlocked and s-offed, just waiting on a stock RUU just to have a another back up just in case.

I just s-off'd my wifes phone, removed tampered from both, and removed the red test from splash screens. I little slow trying to make sure I get everything exact but all went smooth. Great support in this forum.
