How to build apps icon pack:
Things you require:
-Base VRTheme-Here!(Don't worry there are no trojans)
-Some icons-Here are my AOSP icons.
-Required apps from the ROM which you want to modify.
-Notepad++ for changing updater-script.
-Any resizing tool.
-A brain to avoid mistakes and bother me with stupid questions.
-Kindness to press the THANKS button below.
Click to collapse
Steps:
1. Download all the things required.
2. Open your ROM and copy all the apps and move them to a seperate folder. Here we will take only 3 apps-Browser, Messaging and Calculator.

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Now extract these apps using 7zip or winrar.
4. Now open the app folder, go to res and find the location where the icon of the app is present. These are generally present in mipmap-mdpi or drawable-mdpi. For e.g. in Browser app it's present in mipmap-mdpi named as ic_launcher_browser.png:
5. Now extract the VRTheme base folder and go to vrtheme->system->app and make a new folder their with named as appname.apk(Here appname refers to the name of the app). For e.g. Browser.apk in my case.
6. Now make res folder in it. And under res folder make another folder which contains app icon. For e.g res->mipmap-mdpi in my case:
7. Now place your modified icon in it and rename it to the original icon name. For e.g. ic_launcher_browser.png in my case. And resize it to 48X48. If you want to resize it by percent then decrese hdpi icon size by 44% and xhdpi by 66.7%.
8. Do the same for other apps. In my case calculator and messaging.
9. Now give this icon pack your name. Go to META-INF->com->google->android and open updater-script with notepad++ and in second line replace alokbina with your name. You can practically change almost everything under ui_print in updater-script but remember that it should be in the format ui_print("ABCD"); . Here replace ABCD with whatever you like.
10. Now you will be having 4 folders- data, META-INF, system, vrtheme and an image named as preview. Zip all these and rename it whatever you like and flash it with CWM and you're done! Enjoy your own icon pack Feel free to THANK me
Click to collapse
Important Tip:-Note the size of the original icon and modify the other icon accordingly or else you may not get any icon or smaller icon. For e.g. sometimes the icon present in the app is of size 96X96 though it is mdpi app. But still change the other icon size also to 96X96 to get best result.

6. Now make res folder in it. And under res folder make another folder which contains app icon. For e.g res->drawable-mdpi in my case:
7. Now place your modified icon in it and rename it to the original icon name. And resize it if needed. If you want to resize it by percent then decrease hdpi icon size by 44% and xhdpi by 66.7%.

So bad
Ics
im only looking for the ics status bar, not a rom.xD
Download the ICS Fusion Rom , Open with WinRAR extract SystemUI.apk from System/App . Open the SystemUI.apk with WinRAR and extract LDPI folder. Then extract the themed icons and pics you want. Take the SystemUI from the rom you are on and extract the LDPI folder. Replace the ICS themed status bar stuff from the ICS LDPI to your Roms. Put the Modified LDPI into the SystemUI.apk and then put that SystemUI.apk on your phone. Download SignAPKTic from the Google Play Store or APKTops and Re-Sign the SystemUI.apk you just edited by choosing the modified SystemUI.apk then choose test sign then click sign and choose output file SystemUI.apk and sign it. It takes around 3 minutes tops!
Then set the Root Permissions etc. and replace the Original with the modified one! Then Re-Boot and Clear Dalvik,Battery Stats,Cache. Hope this worked for you!!

yup, just make sure that when you are replacing the icons in your original systemUI.apk, you should retain the original names of the files
it's a simple procedure (use winrar or other extracting programs you like)
things you might do:
(1) replacing icons
(2) re-sizing the icons (if needed)
(3) checking the names of files
(4) pushing and setting the correct permissions

no need to make it hard bro
just make a copy of the apk file that you want to edit
and using winrar, just overwrite the files with the edited version that you made (should have the same name)
then push + restart

Installation files (v2 with brygse correction; thanx!):
http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/81347114/file.html
Install instructions:
put SemcClock.apk, Settings.apk, SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk to /system folder and change permission to 644 (rw-r--r--) on all of them. Then move SemcClock.apk, Settings.apk and SystemUI.apk to /system/app folder and framework-res.apk to /system/framework folder. Once you have finished reboot the phone and enjoy in theme
Do you hate that we cant change alarm ringtone? Yes, don't worry! I change the default alarm ringtone directly in SemcClock.apk file together with stock blurred wallpapers
Note: it works for locked and unlocked bootloader devices. You only need to have ROOT access!
A lot of icons are borrowed from other ROM-s so full credit for them goes to their makers!
Nice work! Thanks!

But there is a small note: the player control buttons on the lock screen.
Take these files, and paste into your framework-res.apk as is. It will be like here.
White Magic?!
Excuse me, but why do you speak about white magic, your theme almost as much dark as stock. To fully use WM it must be as much light as possible.

Nice work. I'll try tommorrow on my Xperia P.
2 questions
1. Is in toggle bar a button for 2G/3G network mode? Is very usefull for me.
2. Can you do this patch to be flashable? From CWM (recovery mode). It's better to do like that because in case that something is not work is easy to go back if you post a stock patch too. I done in past on other xperia trought root explorer and after I finished to move the files in the specified folder, in case of something is wrong I'm stuck in FC loops and can't restore the old files to fix the problem.
Pls tell me which theme s that is shown in the screenshots??

HOW TO
Add ICS/Jellybean look alike task switcher
Removed previous update due to some problem in MOD-without-buttom.zip :- please use the new one
and for
[UPDATE] 18 aug- - MOD-without button.zip: without task manager button [fixed[
TO USE THIS MOD ON OTHER DEVICES GO TO THIS POST
and dont forget my name when writing Credits part....
Tools Required:
1. APKTOOL:: for decompiling/compiling
(u can use any decompiler as long as it compiles without any error)
2. JAVA runtime environment-- jre installed on windows
3. 7 ZIP
4. WinRAR
5. MOD.ZIP or MOD without button.zip (attached below)
MOD.zip includes "task manager" button at the bottom
MOD without button.zip obviously doesnt...
Procedure:
Setting up apktool
1. Unzip downloaded APKTOOL.zip to c:/apk (or any other convenient location)
2. copy ur rom's framework-res.apk to c:/apk/ and rename it as framework-stock.apk (dont delete this file neither modify it at any point)
3.open cmd and navigate to c:/apk/ and type command as
Code:
C:\apk>apktool if framework-stock.apk
Now you are all set to decompile framework-res.apk
DECOMPILING framework-res.apk
In cmd type
Code:
C:\apk>apktool d framework-res.apk frame
this will put all decompiled files in a folder named "frame"
EDITING decompiled framework-res.apk
1. open "c:/apk/frame/res" in explorer
2. extract all folders in the MOD.zip file to "c:/apk/frame/res/" and replace the files if asked
RECOMPILING framework-res.apk

Code:
C:\apk>apktool b frame framework.apk
if all goes well it will create an UNSIGNED framework.apk (u cant push it right now)
SIGNING framework-res.apk
1. open c:/apk/framework-res.apk in 7-ZIP not Winrar
2. open c:/apk/framework.apk in WINRAR and drag all the contents to the 7-zip window
and click "yes" in dialog when asked to copy files into framework-res.zip
DONE!!
c:/apk/framework-res.apk is the signed apk which you can push to system/framework/ using any method adb, CWM
or u can even use Miui file explorer to push framework-res.apk without any bootloops.....
if u get stuck in bootloop just flash ur stock framework-res.apk and then report here....
DO give proper credits if you are using this in your rom....
go here to see if it has been added to ur rom already or not....

OR you can install this task killer. ICS Task Manager from market that is "ALMOST" look like a recent task/apps of ICS/JB.
This is not yet confirmed to be working for I can't do it on my own device Xperia X10 minipro running GingerDXv029 on top of nAa-14.
It is because of having 3 recent_apps_dialog.xml namely:
recent_apps_dialog.xml
recent_apps_dialog_12.xml
recent_apps_dialog_15.xml
this traits from GDX framework is same on ARCmini NXT6 and MiniCM7-2.2.1
IF ANYONE can do this, PLEASE provide a tutorial. It will be much appreciated.

It doesn't look good to our small devices. It's devs doesn't include LDPI sources on it's apps. SO OBVIOUSLY it's too big. the screen image of the app almost 3/4 of our screen. It doesn't look good. tried it. However if you want an app. I include the link of the Ics Task Manager. It's available on free and paid versions. and It looks good on small devices.

This Mod is without numbers because there´s no 1% Mod for your Mega for now and otherwise it would jumps like 100-94-79-64-49-34-20-10-4
So If you want to see the numbers, you could tick that in settings.

Requirements
A Samsung Galaxy Mega GT-I920x rooted phone view HERE or HERE
A recovery custom (CWM) HERE For the method A
A root explorer application like Root explorer or Solid explorer For the method B
Installation
Method A -->> Flash zip file via the CWM
This tool will create a folder "UniversalFlasher" on your sdcard and also a flashable backup with the changed apk inside, for the case you don't like the new icon
It wipes cache and dalvik automaticly (maybe not necessary but doesn't harm anyway)
Important:
This zip structure is for only roms that has the systemui.apk inside the system/app folder, not in preload partition!!!
Download desired zip file
Move it to your external sdcard
Boot into recovery (cwm) --> vol up + home + power
Once in the recovery menu, select install zip from sdcard
Then select choose zip from sdcard
Select the zip file and press on Yes
Go back & select Reboot system now
Important:
If u flash the zip and the flashprocess breaks or after the flash you´re still on the Icon before,
try to flash the zip from the external sdcard.
U will find the news flashables zip files on the second post
Method B -->> Replace the existing SystemUI.apk
Copy SystemUI.apk file on your sd card
Move the latter using the root explorer at the root of your phone
Change the permissions of the apk on 644 -->> rw-r--r--
Once done, move the apk in root-> system-> app
Here, a window will ask you if you want to replace existing SystemUI.apk .Click yes
Reboot your phone
Enjoy !!

if someone like to see the numbers, you could tick that in settings

Edit: have u guys a working recovery??? because then I would test it with UFT zip as by Galaxy Note before, so I haven´t to edit the systemui.apk all the time, instead I would make a flashable zip that only change the necessary pngs inside your systemui.apk

Thank You
It's a pleasure dear Valente
Is really nice !!
so here´s the first UFT zip with this Icon:
this is a flashable zip for those brave guys who like that Icon or only want to test if it´s working
in this zip are more than 200 Icons but it should only change maybe 20 Icons in your SystemUI.apk and there a few missing, because in your SystemUI.apk are 3 Icons named ..._red.png that didn´t create by the tool,
but if it works I´ll push those Icons into the zip in future
so for those of you who doesn´t know about UFT (Universal Flasher Tool), it based on the well known VR-Theme and only changes pngs which are already there
also it creates a folder on ur sdcard called UniversalFlasher and a flashable backup inside
it wipes cache+dalvik automaticly (maybe not necessery but doesn´t harm anyway)
hope someone are brave enough to test it :fingers-crossed:
and report here if it works :fingers-crossed:
but maybe make a nandroid backup before just in case
I have a GS3 LTE
Can I test it ?

no, sorry,
because your battery icons aren´t in the same folder as in this zip,
it´s specially made for the Mega, except your battery icons are in systemui/res/drawable-sw480dp-hdpi
for example on my Note they´re in res/drawable-xhdpi

1- For ease of use I have created the transparent image so download it from the attachment and unzip it (ldpi only)
To find out how I did it and to create one for other screen sizes click the spoiler below
To create the transparent lockscreen image
1- Decompile framework-res.apk
2- Open res/drawable-ldpi (or mdpi/hdpi for other devices)
3- Look at zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.jpgand take note of its image dimensions (you can do this by opening it in paint as it says image dimensions at bottom of screen)
4- Open an image editor like photoshop and create a blank transparent image the same dimensions as what you just noted
5- Save image as zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.png (note must be png to keep transparency)
2- Decompile framework-res.apk with Apktool
3- Open res/drawable-ldpi
4- Delete zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.jpg
5- Copy zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.png from attachment or what you have created to res/drawable-ldpi (or mdpi/hdpi on other devices)
6- Open res/layout/zzz_keyguard_screen_lockscreenwallpaper.xml in notepad++
7- Change android:background to ="#00000000"
8- Recompile the folder
9- Delete the compiled apk
9- Unzip the original unmoddifed framework-res.apk
10- Copy META-INF and AndroidManifest.xml and paste them to YourDecompiledFolder/build/apk
11- Recompile the folder again
12- Put in a Flashable Zip and Flash in CWM with system mounted

did you set android:background="#00000000" in zzz_keyguard_screen_lockscreenwallpaper.xml
so the line should look like this
Code:
<RelativeLayout android:id="@id/lockscreenwallpaper_root" android:background="#00000000" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"

I assume you used the png I gave in the attatchment and deleted the jpg that was there already
I wrote this guide over 6months ago when I was on stock rom - I use cm7 now so cant really go back over it
and I think it only works on the default stock lockscreen so if you have changed the lockscreen style that might be why
you can upload your unmodified framwork-res.apk and i'll do it for you and you can see if it makes any difference
waw, nice guide
