New Superuser App - 7" Kindle Fire HD Themes and Apps

Only just come across this now, think it's been in beta, anyway it's now out & looks really good, may even switch from SuperSU if no major bugs are found which there doesn't seem to be
It's by Koushik Dutta who created the excellent Carbon app, open source as well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.superuser
Direct Download - http://download.clockworkmod.com/apks/Superuser.apk
Features
* Multiuser support
* OPEN SOURCE (https://github.com/koush/Superuser)
* Pin protection
* Manifest permission support
* Per app configuration
* FREE
* Request timeout
* Logging
* Notifications
* Proper Tablet UX
Why another Superuser?
* Superuser should be open source. It's the gateway to root on your device. It must be open for independent security analysis. Obscurity (closed source) is not security.
* Superuser should be NDK buildable. No internal Android references.
* Superuser should also be AOSP buildable for those that want to embed it in their ROM.
* Superuser should also be AOSP embeddable, meaning a ROM can easily embed it into their Settings app.
* Maintenance and updates on both the market and source repositories should be timely.
* If something goes wrong, I can fix it.
* Handle multiuser (4.2+) properly
* Handle concurrent su requests properly

I guess it's a bit out of my league seeing how I never do anything more then beginner stuff with su. Open source is always cool though.

* Finish running installer then you have the option to reboot or go back to clockwork mod.
* Installer will wait 30 sec before rebooting this is to ensure that everything is installed fully.
* Enjoy and please don't forget to use the thank you button.
This is a custom installer that will allow you the user to choose which converted applications you would like to install. The choice now is completely up to you you can pick one to all none it's completely your choice. This is a completely touch process where you touch the screen to choose which you would like to install. You can install the latest launchers you can also install app add-ons such as ES file explorer.
Note:
If you are experiencing touch screen issues please use your volume up and down keys as well as the power button to select your options. Since this is a universal app there is only so much one can do to make it universal for all. You may also press your menu button when inside of the installer for a touch screen config for the app (though this feature is still not guaranteed to work). You will be able to launch my file manager directly from the application while inside clockwork mod this is for advanced users only.

Posting another's work like this is a violation of XDA rules. This could easily been put in a link in the Fixes thread or in another thread. OR if you really wanted to create a thread, you could have posted some screen shots with links to his thread, not his files. Very uncool, as to do theme work like that takes a LONG time, and to not get the proper credit is messed up.

[Q] Widget Working without Permissions..Possible ??

Hi,
I am having a HTC One X running ProBAM ROM and XM Kernel. It has FastCharge feature by which the phone can charge as if it is connected to AC mains even if it is plugged into Laptop.
For this to be enabled, the value '1' has to be written to the following file
/sys/devices/platform/htc_battery/fast_charge
Wrote a small widget to do that job for me. And its working fine
My question is .... I haven't added any permissions in the Manifest file, and also the widget is not asking for any Root request when i use it.... Shoudn't the widget give error since no write permission is available in the manifest and shouldnt it ask for Root access since it is trying to write to a system partition?
Another small help, I have attached the Eclipse project folder of that widget also. If its possible, can any one look into the code and give their comments about the code. I have just started as a developer so the code might not be a standard one or a efficient one. Need suggestions to make it more standard and efficient. Thanks again
Looked at your code and I think it'd be easier if you did something like this.
First you might want to do this to gain root access.
Code:
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("su") ;
To enable fast charge:
Code:
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("echo 1 > /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge") ;
To disable fast charge:
Code:
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("echo 0 > /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge") ;
I'm not too sure though, I haven't required root for my apps.
If this doesn't work I recommend you take a look here

Hi Jimlarlarck,
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. The issue is that the code that i have attached is WORKING. I havent added any permission in the Manifest and AFAIK the method I am using should not work on system folders/files rite?? But it is working. So is there any issue with the ROM I am using ?? Thats my confussion
And it would be great if you could give some comments on the code, like , how efficient it is...any loopholes present..or any mistakes preset.
Thanks a Lot
Maybe the ROM you're using have different permissions on the sys folder, try your widget on other ROM if possible.

Not quite, you don't really need any permissions besides Root, which isn't needed to be added to the manifest is it enabling fast charge?
Your code seemed neat and brief though, easy and pleasant to read, make it a bit neater and spaced out though, remember, in Java, spaces don't matter, and the program is only as good as the developer's understanding of their own code.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Kool so can i take that root permission and manifest are completely unrelated... ?? Am I rite??
this gives rise to a different doubt though since my phone is rooted...and have superuser filter.. and I do get prompts for any new app that needs root permission.... so shouldn't my widget also make the superuser filter prompt for access??? :-\ I am confused all about this root, SU and permissions stuff
And thanks a lot for ur coments... will follow them

App] v1.1 Towel Root Mod For All Devices

I ran across someone that updated GeoHot's Towel Root app on the Android Apps and Games Forum this morning:
From: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-v1-1-towel-root-mod-devices-t3139160
Hi everyone before we get started please keep a note of the following things:
* Towel Root is owned by GeoHot, we just improved it more since his absense
* TowelRoot may or may nir brick your device depending on manufaturer specs, we cannot guarentee it eill brick your device but its rare
* Towel Root Mod isnt fully a official release this was modded to support newer operating systems
What I Improved From The Official Version? Well..
* Added Support For SDK 21 and 22 Lollipop
* Descent Material Design
* Some bug fixes from various devices
NOTE: be aware were not fully guarenteed this will work on all devices, we are not responsible for any damage caused by this app
Credit To GeoHot for creating a rootining app
Download: Download Now
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mnsxyhut1kw82xf/TowelRootMod.zip?dl=1
Try at your own risk...
I have no idea if this works since I am already rooted and did not take the OTA Lollipop update.
Those that took the OTA Lollipop update might want to try this to see if it works.
I'm holding you personally accountable.

[Xposed][Module] SpotifySkip V1.0.2

A small module that replaces a resource value in Spotify to enable tablet mode.
As such it will enable unlimited skips and also allow you to choose the song to play (as oppose to shuffle).
Instruction:
Install APK
Enable Module
Reboot (Soft Reboot)
Enjoy The 4am Music Playlist
Though There isn't much to how this module works, I'll release the source code once I get the chance.
.... knowing myself...it could easily be a month,2,3 before i post the code to github... but this is faster.. so here it is.
Code:
public class sskip implements IXposedHookInitPackageResources {
@Override
public void handleInitPackageResources(XC_InitPackageResources.InitPackageResourcesParam lpparam) throws Throwable {
if (!lpparam.packageName.equals("com.spotify.music"))
return;
lpparam.res.setReplacement("com.spotify.music", "bool", "is_tablet", true);
}
}
Code:
ChangeLog:
1.0: inital Release
1.0.1: Fix: no longer compile Xposed Library
1.0.2: Removed appcompat library (not needed, waste of size/space)
Now Available on Xposed Repo.
Thanks for releasing this, it doesn't seem to work with the spotify 3.1.x betas, or 3.0.x from the playstore, does this only work on older versions?
How is this not a breach of the rules of xda and illegal?
Edit: I'm happy if it isn't, I just wonder how that's possible.
Doesn't work for me neither btw.

I have 3.0.0.1124 and its working fine... I've also just updated to 3.1.0.1093 and that also works.
can you post your xposed log "adb pull /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/error.log"
also what phomes are you using, screen size might also be taken into account before enabling tablet mode.
As for the legality, I'm not entirely sure....
This feature while part of the premium package, is also available to tablet users free... with or without this, merely changing the DPI you can enable it.
anyway, ill contact a mod and see what they make of it.

Works, sweet!
Hey guys,
To clear things up: we're allowing this module to stay on XDA since it only "spoofs" your device to appear as a tablet to Spotify (more importantly, it doesn't remove the ads or provide any other premium features).
Cheers,
The mods ❤
Why exactly is this apk 1mb big? With the source code you posted including some default xposed stuff this should be way smaller than 100kb. Are you generating a release apk? Are you maybe including some (unnecessary) support libraries?

but you're right, it was the appcompat library... I tried removing it earlier but kept throwing errors, but just got it to work.
p.s. it's actually 22kb without it *holy cow*

Edit:

this works great! thanks so much for putting this together. does anyone know if there is a way to play all of the tracks in a playlist in order and not shuffle around? i listen to armin van buuren's a state of trance radio show playlist, and i'm able to select individual songs just like the module description says. but after a song plays, it still shuffles around to different songs after, it doesn't play the next track. i'd appreciate any info or help for this.

I don't think there is a specific module,
Adfree would just block ad hosting sites, thus the app can't load them.
