I figured since the last thread on how it was illegal was such a big deal I figured I'd share a tidbit of information for those who don't normally read other tech news or other threads. This STORY (not an ad) only has 16 comments. WHY? Because people don't even bother checking the portal for news and updates around here. Yet someone can post a link to the same content on a different site and people will go 5 pages deep in a thread around here. It just shows the problem XDA members have with actually using the sources on the site to find the information they need/want.
You people wonder why you have so many problems installing ROMS and finding things on XDA. You don't READ or pay attention to ANYTHING around here and this thread proves it. LOL! Well it could be 'cos you posted in the Hermes Upgrade forum and games aren't really an "upgrade"
As for the warez stuff - as a lot of people here are (in some way or another) spend a long time dreaming/developing/actually making great stuff for PPC's for very little gain - warez that take the small amount of revenue from the genuine developers who work the PPC platform are generally frowned upon.
If you want lots of new stuff in the future, and support and development of the Pocket PC platform then please support the developers and pay for your software - especially as some of the really good stuff is at shareware prices!

i hope that piracy thing wasnt on me. i said nothing about free games i just wanted some help in my search for some games. and i didnt mean to get everyones panties in a bundle. im somewhat new to the ppc world and was looking for help. so far this forum has been really helpfull with general info and some upgrades. it made my 8125 the coolest thing ever. which is why i now have the hermes and back on the forum. thank you guys for the info. i do some research in other threads.
dont worry about it, just take the time to make sure that you take the time to search before starting a new thread and then take the time to make sure you if you need to open a new thread that you create it in the correct forum. This is not really a general ppc forum but it would have been best to post a thread of this nature in an off topic forum or general forum. Not a device specific, upgrading forum. First off games can be used on many devices running the same platform (os) and are definately not considered an upgrade.
The warez is not on you just take the time to search for topics before creating new threads.

I would do it. Since I value the opinion of people at XDA, why post it on twitter or facebook where most likely one out of 100s will have the phone? What is the point? Actually, it's only you that does not care. The purpose of the forum is for information. Information from other members whether or not it is personal or a link to something on the web.
I am looking for a new phone now and I am interested in the Note. Unfortunately I do not know anyone with one, so I ask here what people think of it.
Their opinions are a valuable part of this community and have helped in my decision. They didn't make the decision for me, but they did help me in making up my mind.

You should get the Note! Its a fantastic phone with great versatility. I came over from iPhone a few months ago, and I can't believe how much better this device is. I just rooted and flashed a ICS rom, and its great! You won't be disappointed.

The reason for delay is a complete marketing strategy. they want you to pay attention to their HTC One. (Do the math: more sale for htc and more contracts for sprint).

With respect, you could make that video in 'almost' ANY country. It's easier in America as there are a LOT more people to pick from. And let's not forget that America came from pretty much every country anyway.
Now, back on topic, I agree with the OP. I also notice a lot of the slagging off is coming from really low posters, likely with nothing much to contribute, but lots to take. Same here...I didn't see what happened in the thread, but I guess I just don't understand why the WHOLE thread needed to be deleted instead of cleaned up or just locked?

Unfortunately the thread had over 35+ (from what I remember) pages of content, and most of the good stuff was buried in the middle
DAMNIT!
I was using that thread as a reference in an effort to get several of the major tech/Android blogs to post articles about the black clipping problem. I don't understand why the mods had to delete the entire thread when all they really needed to do was delete the last page or two of nonsense brought on by one troll.
I may try to start a new one if the mods don't/can't bring the thread back...
I think I'll try to get an admin at XDA from http://www.xda-developers.com/contact/ to look into this and possibly revive the thread. That's way too much collateral damage to control one user posting a couple stupid comments

I was just trying to respond to his trolling and trying to make him realize that his "input" was not welcome. But I guess the mods thought it went too far, for which I sincerely apologize. We received a warning from oka1, but we didn't say anything off-topic following the warning.
i agree that post is very valuable
especially since i see now no solution was found,and black clipping still exists

Ahhh i vaguely remember he was the one that kept saying it was all a source problem. Oh well, ive contacted the xda admins so well see where it goes. Does anyone remember the mods name? Might be good to reach out to them also...

The mod who issued the warning was oka1, but I don't know if he is the one who deleted the thread.
I smell a conspiracy
I think Samsung wants all threads closed when talking about black crush/clipping on their displays perhaps they got to XDA? I read the thread since it started and found I have the clipping issue. I don't care to argue if the clipping issue exists I wish there was a dedicated thread to discuss solutions to this.

Hello mods and fellow xdaers!
I have opened this thread for off topic discussion. We had similar threads in the Samsung skyrocket and note 2 forums.. I find that these types of threads really help the teamwork aspect of development by giving members an outlet to talk to each other without cluttering a development thread.

i agree. it's usually the regulars that start to hang out here. it's so weird going from samsung to htc though.
I'm used to seeing a familiar face or two when i switch devices but the only guy I'm familiar with here is faux from my inspire 4g days.
eventually all the heavy helpers and trolls end up here lol.

yes. start small and be sure you enjoy the hobby. a lot if brewers may not agree but a cheap Mr beer kit is a really great way to get started. I'm into my first five gallon batch right now. joined a local beer brewing club to learn from others

I'm sure you'll find some good ones. When they had their Christmas sale, I bought something like 8 games for $70. Given, I'm a parent of a young child, so I don't game as much as I would like; so catching up on games that are a year or 2 old (so they are cheap).
