Hey folks,
New guy here, just picked up a new LG Optimus G on AT&T yesterday afternoon to replace my aging Samsung GS2. This was a somewhat quickly made decision (for me anyway) so I haven't done as much research on the LGOG as I typically do before purchasing a new device...it's quite possible I missed something stupid. If so, flame away...
As of right now, I'm stock/unrooted, with a small number of primary use apps installed. While screwing around getting familiar with the device yesterday, I noticed a high level of msm_hsic_host wakelocks, with an apparently related but smaller amount of suspend_backoff wakelocks in Better Battery Stats. CPUSpy indicated approximately 25% deep sleep for the run, which was about10 hours from purchase to going to bed - with a partial charge in the middle.
This concerned me slightly, so I let the device charge overnight, then unplugged this morning and let her go on a screen-off draindown test. Did a 50 minute run, which resulted in zero battery drain (still at 100% for a few moments when I lit the screen up at the end of the run) but ZERO deep sleep. The vast majority of the run was spent at 384 MHz, with small amounts at 1512. This run was done while on an ATT microcell for calls and WiFi on for data (set to stay on with screen off). Background data was on. While I am quite impressed that I'm seeing 1-2% drain per hour with no deep sleep, I have to believe this is not how the device is supposed to operate.
Prior to buying the LGOG, while looking at the forums here, I noted that Jank4AU was here - a name I recognized from the Aria and SGS2 forums. He provided an excellent overview of the device (via PM - Thanks Jank4AU) and mentioned the need for rooting to disable fast dormancy, which apparently AT&T, in their infinite wisdom, left enabled by default, to improve battery life. My limited experience with chasing wakelocks indicates that HSIC is likely radio related. Is this msm_hsic_host wakelock triggered by the fast dormancy system? My searches have turned up little to indicate either a yes or a no...

At any rate, I'm still digging though the ROM threads, but will likely be rooted and maybe off stock by the end of the day today. I'm looking forward to spending some time with the LGOG community, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute meaningfully at some point!

Interesting. Can you elaborate on what may be different, set up wise, between yours and your wife's phones? Particularly radio/Wi-Fi settings or presence/absence of Wi-Fi use environments?

Nothing different between our phones bloatware frozen. She spends a lot more time away from wifi than I do. I just disabled fast dormancy and installed better battery stats on both of our phones. I'll keep an eye on things and compare both at the end of the day
I made a thread a few months back about this wakelock. As I've flashed ROMs and have fast dormancy disabled, the problem has vanished. I had the wakelock on stock unrooted, stock rooted, and stock ICS ROM.

I applied the fast dormancy fix and all is well here too
I was seeing this wakelock a lot too, but only noticed it (only ever installed BBS) AFTER disabling fast dormancy. In the process of trying to tack this down, I froze a bunch of apps, turned off a bunch of background syncing type stuff, re-enabled FD, and I've had wifi off the past 2 days, and now the wakelock is still the highest on the list, but it's usually < 10% now instead of 44%, and my deep sleep percentage has reversed, from 25% to 75% now. Re-disabling FD doesn't seem to have made any difference. Is FD only relevant for LTE? I only have 4G here.
Yeah, there's a fast-dormancy toggle app in the themes and apps section. It will greatly reduce your wake-locks.

Thanks for the input folks, looks like it's time to root for me. FWIW, I tried running with wifi off, and saw small (8ish) percentage deep sleep.

Hmmmm...if I understand you correctly, you're seeing the opposite behavior of those two above? I am also in a Non-LTE area...be interesting to see what I see.

Sweet. I'm missing Google Now an awful lot...I'm thinking a switch to the SnowJB ROM might be in order...appears that has "built-in" fast dormancy "fix" - I assume this means it's disabled by default on that ROM.
Got revert to stock all set up on my PC, so now I get to go root. This will be the soonest after purcahse I've rooted a new device (previous quickest was 4 days for the SGS2). Thank you all for the warm and helpful welcome to the LGOG device forums!
Edit: just out of curiosity, what do you guys typically see for deep sleep percentages? On the SGS2 85% or so was about my average on ICS with my full complement of apps and background data running. That dropped to 75-80% with Google Now running in the background.

I am seeing the opposite of some of the others in a way.... I can't say that disabling FD hurt me and I can't say that enabling it helped me. All I can say for sure is in my case it doesn't seem to make any difference one way or another.
Also, the FD toggle app doesn't require root. Not that you shouldn't root, just that you don't need to in order to try this.

LOL, Thanks adfurgerson (another i777 convert iirc?). By the time I got back to read this I was already rooted and unlocked via the guide sticky procedure! Went without a hitch.

Yeah...I might be able to live without one or the other (GPS is easier to get along without for me) but without both, it's not quite to daily driver status for me. I thought I saw some comments from the dev that kernel work towards getting the camera going is almost ready. At that point I might give it a shot.
Edit: OK, first dumb question of my time here (won't be the last): Is there a key combo to get into recovery? Google pointed me to either vol-/power or vol+/home/power. Neither of these worked for me, all I can seem to get with keys is fastboot. Had to ADB into recovery to make my backup...gonna flash SnowJB once that's done.

I believe that I put up an ICS version of Google Now in my inverted apps thread if you aren't ready for JB yet. Also, in that same thread, there is probably still a copy of Google Now (not inverted) for ICS as posted by XsMagical. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll send the file to you.

Thanks, appreciated. Just got SnowJB flashed (glad to be rid of that damn carrier id in the notification bar, since it says ATT Microcell at home and takes up most of the notification bar!). If I run into issues, I'll jump back and take a look at your ICS GNow...

Good deal, that SnowJB is pretty smooth.
Itnis hidden menu for recovery, volume up and power for bootloader then volume up twice then power. Quickboot app also works.

Gotcha...thanks. I have quickboot now, so all good. knowing that combo is nice in case I get in a pinch sometime though and am working from stock without ADB available (hopefully that never happens ). Is that button combo/hidden menu stuff posted somewhere? If so I missed it. Might be a good thing to add to one of the "read me first" kinda stickies (assuming it's not already there and I missed it)...
Edit: And first short duration drain test after root/unlock/SnowJB1.1 is giving me 68% deep sleep - with GNow enabled and full complement of apps (a bunch more apps than previous test).
Edit 2: Initial 3 hour test after SnowJB install - 5% total battery drain over 3 hours, including 20 minutes screen on for browsing. 70.4% deep sleep, with minimal (1min 30sec) running at max CPU. I'm used to seeing 5% drain just from that much screen on time, so this is excellent performance in my book!
Oddly enough,my phone was kept awake by msm_hsic_host wakelock for over 7 hours last night. I'm abroad at the moment, with my phone in airplane mode all the time, wifi was turned off during that time, and the fast dormancy toggle was doing its thing. Weird. I'll see if it happens again tonight.

You know what ? Its a damned good idea. Too many people are cluttering the development thread. Now since no one else has posted a question related to CM7, I have one:
Can someone help me figure out what is eating my battery on standby ?? I don't have that power hungry facebook app and I did some tweaks found ( via SetCPU ) that I found in the development thread, but it made very little difference. The thing is, I just have no idea how to monitor what is using all the power. How did they figure out that facebook was causing a big drain ?
Do you use google latitude?
A very good thing is use BetterBatteryStats to really understand where the CPU is being keept awake. The embed battery stats for example only showed me Android OS as a culprit, but gave me no further details..

i have heard CPU Spy is great for figuring out whats using up your resources. dont know as i tend to get pretty good battery life (16+ hours with exchange push enabled)

Had anyone else had trouble getting the hbogo app to work on CM7? I can login and try to play a video but get audio with no video. The hbogo splash screen plays perfectly when playing a video for the first time.

When I receive a call, my phone goes to a lock screen, I have to swipe the lock screen to answer. On stock, when I got a call, the screen woke up in the dialer app and all I had to do was press the answer button. For the life of me I can't seem to find a setting to change this, any input appreciated.

Do you by chance have Tango installed? I had it for all of 2 days and noticed my battery died about twice as fast as it normally would. I usually get a good 16+ hours easy with moderate use but was only getting about 9 with the same usage. Did a quick google search and verified tango was the culprit. Uninstalled and back to normal. I don't know if this applies to any other video call apps but might be worth looking into.

Wifi connectivity drives me nuts on cm7. Had to turn it off and on in order to connect. Someone mentioned to edit propbuild. Idk what that means.

You need to go into Setting/CyanogenMod settings/Application, check "Use internal storage" then reboot your phone and it should be back to how it was before.
Betterbatterystats seems to have found some interesting things. Phone on for 1hr and ten minutes.
Under partial wakelocks:
Lightflow: 1hr10m3s
AlarmManager: 58m13s
JuiceDefender:55m44s
There is more ( I can provide screenshot if required ), but those are the top three.
I do find this a little odd. Juice defender was just installed the other day and I can't see how it would cause any problems. Battery was a bit crappy before and didn't get any better/worse. I froze lightflow the other day and battery drain was about the same.

Its the "suspend" service running on the background with 90% cpu usage ... as soon as I heard the warning from watchdog, I wake my phone and that "suspend" stop immidately. Happen to me since I got this rom cm7. It didn't happen before on alien...

EDIT: upon further investigation I have narrowed down AlarmManager as causing a lot of partial wake locks, but I dont have any alarms set and have not synced my calendar and have the Calendar alerts turned off. However Suspend is showing as a problem as well.
I'm using BetterBatteryStats, SpareParts, and the stock battery manager to try and track this down.
Well, after eliminating Lightflow and turning off Beautiful Widgets small weather, things are improving. Instead of losing 5% per hour on standby, it is now down to about 3%. Juice defender and Alarm manager are still at the top of the list, In 2hrs and 18min I have:
Alarm manager 33m12s
Juice defender 27m56s
So, Juice Defender is next on the list. The funny part is I know that CM7 is causing this. Battery used to last near forever on standby.

Ever since I upgraded from pre-beta 4 to Beta, my phone has had two horizontal deadzone lines on the touchscreen. This persists from ROM to ROM, and is getting to be annoying. I have no warranty, as I bought the phone from a guy who won it in a contest, unlocked it and brought it to another carrier.
Is there any chance that this is a software issue, and can be repaired?

Alarm Manager is no longer a problem. Phone now sleeping correctly. I disabled background date, topped off the battery and verified via Betterbatterystats. Now if we could disable background data while it sleeps and re-enable it when you wake it up then we'd be set.

Batter Usage shows the Android OS at 93%!!!
Not using my phone, it is dead in about 7 hours.

You have an app that is driving data to your phone, causing the wifi chip to wake the phone all the time. Apparently a system app - a lot of people have been having this issue with KK6.
Beyond this - sorry, but if you are not rooted you will have to live with it. Identifying what is triggering the wifi interrupts requires obtaining a Wireshark capture, this is not possible without root. Even if a common root cause is found for what's going on with KK6, it's most likely in /system itself so can't be fixed without a custom ROM or at least rooting.
If you're not willing to root, why are you on a firmware developer forum? Have AT&T help you instead if you're on 100% bone stock unrooted.
Well if it's an APP causing it, then many many people must be running the same app cause all of the various forums out there are a lot of people with the battery drain after updating to 2.3.6. Even a lot of my customers have mentioned it also.
I doubt it is an APP doing it. I'd bet it is just some bad coding on Samsung's part. They are probably getting a lot of complaints and are most likely already looking into it.
As far as the why he is here if he doesn't root. Well I don't root as well and have no desire to being as stock works just great. (other than the battery drain)
This is a great place to hang out and keep up on other people using various phones. He posted in the General section, not the Developer's section for this phone. So I think his/her question was valid.
If he was asking the question in the Developers section I would understand your concern. But I don't feel you have to be into cooked ROMS to value this forum.
That's like saying to the people who like the "Fast and the Furious" moves to stop watching them because they have a Chevy and not a pimped up Civic.

I'm not rooted with wifi on all the time just got the phone 3 days ago and I'm getting 14-15hrs with no issue down to about 15-20% battery life left before I have to stick back on charger. Could be a bad battery or device, I'm coming over from Sprint after using rooted evo3d and rooted photon.

If you don't want to root, you're probably better off in the AT&T support forums, because honestly, it isn't worth our time to try and help someone who doesn't want to root fix a problem that is almost sure to require root access to fix, or in this case, even diagnose.
I do believe many are having this issue after upgrading to kk6 (with same apps installed). I had the issue as well.
May be a system app, or something in /system causing an app to become unhappy.
Either way, it's not going to get fixed without Shark for Root captures from those encountering problems.

I don't think it anything to do with KK6. As Entropy said its an app causing a wake lock. I'm run Ingram KK6 without any issues with battery.

Having this issue as well. Phone is stock. Ive been here since the captivate but I hang around with the sgs2. Never needed to root this phone as it works perfectly for me. But I did the update this morning at 100% charge and 9 hours later with no use it's down to 9%. I could go all day with moderate use and be at 30-40% by the time I go to bed.
I read on a rather long on a google forum that many had this issue after upgrading via ota but who knows. I found that wiping dalvik and flashing unnamed update again I have much better batter life. I did read in update that he reverted to an earlier kernel signature to fix the battery drain.
Im going back to 2.3.4 via this method.

Losing 10% of my battery at idle /hour is ridiculous lol. Android os was at 87+% within 3 hours of restart.

Okay so I did this method. Took about 5 mins after I got everything downloaded. I did not do the factory reset since it's not needed. Phones back to 2.3.4 and nothing was reset. Have all my sms's contacts, aps, wallpapers etc. Battery seems to be back to normal.
I recommend everyone who did that 2.3.6 update to revert back. To many problems with it.
I never entered download mode on this phone before. Just a tip: Keep holding all the buttons till the phone seems like it shuts off and keep holding them till you get into download mode. Do not let go or else it just powers off.
For the purposes of attempting to fix the problem, I really would like some people to take some Shark for Root captures as described in my Known Battery Drainers thread.
With that data, the root cause of the problem might be identifiable.
So far I've only seen one capture, I really need more unless I can reproduce the problem myself.

I'm also having battery issues but would like to try to fix it before giving up.

I read a possible solution on another forum and tried it with my SGS2 today and am amazed at the difference today in my battery life.
Worth a shot as it does not require anything more than charging your phone and pulling the battery.
Charge your phone to 100% with the phone off (hold the power button for 3 seconds or so until the menu comes up and select power off). When you reach 100%, unplug the charger and remove your battery (some said keep the battery removed for 90 seconds while others said 3-5 minutes). I left my battery out for 5 minutes or so. Put the battery back in and power on.
That was it. My Android OS went back to normal and the battery life today has been great if not better then with 2.3.6 than before I updated.

That was it. My Android OS went back to normal and the battery life today has been great if not better then with 2.3.6 than before I updated.

Quite possible, but still running on the same charge from this morning and am at 28% battery after 14+ hours of normal use which is all I expect (calls, texts and light web browsing during the day over data) and then couple hours of web use at night over Wi-Fi when at home.
The last few days I was charging the phone when I got home from the office if I wanted to use it at night. Android OS was way up in the 60+ range after I first updated OTA and today it has been under 20% and more near 15%, so I'll take it.

I did this and saw absolutely no change. 2.3.6 is draining my battery far faster than 2.3.4 ever did. The culprit is the Android OS running at 90%.
I read that it might be an issue with the wifi so I have turned that off and will report back if that seems to fix it.
I read on another forum that att and Samsung are trying to blame it on bad batteries and shipping out new batteries.
What a bunch of crap. People everywhere wouldn't suddenly all have bad batteries at the same time. Sounds like usual BS.
I personally think its just some bad coding that Samsung needs to figure out.
On a different note, I played with the Verizon Droid Razr yesterday. Man that is a really nice phone. I'm tempted to get it, but I work for att and get free cell service, so it wouldn't make sense to pay for Verizon service, even though I think their network is better.

Android OS is definately eating up the battery now. I think it does have to do with wifi, because it seems to be much improved with it off. I'll take a free battery as long as I don't need to exchange the old one.
My phone started dieing overnight and I was really confused because I could've sworn I had a lot of like left when I went to bed. So I did a test tonight...
Charged to 100% at 10:30pm
All background application closed, ram cleared
Wifi and GPS off
Results: after 8.5 hours of doing nothing, I lost over 75% battery.

Looks like something is keeping it from deep sleep. Download cpuspy and see if that is the case. When you click on phone stand by what does it say?

It just says Time on 8h XXm XXs
Looks like Google talk is keeping it awake. Never used GT before so not sure if that is normal. I am having similar (but not as drastic) with ms exchange keeping mine in awake state. I am using ics alpha 2 Rom and did not have this issue on stock GB. What Rom are you using?

It also looks like your cell signal isn't all that great so it's constantly pinging. Not sure about that though. Do you need data all the time? I use 2x battery so it severs data. Saves a **** ton of battery life.

I noticed the Google Talk but I never use it, and it's installed on my phone, but I can find a way to uninstall it anywhere. It also doesn't give me an option to log out either.
Oh and I'm running the ICS alpha 2 ROM. I don't recall having this problem with GB.
I use the ICS -1 Click Odin leak (In progress of getting a better ICS loaded) but I have noticed that I run into a lot of Battery life problems when I am sleeping... If I leave my phone unplugged overnight it always dies, I have to charge it. It's weird... Because I can be on it all day with amazing Battery life, then it just dies over night with a full charge of not even being in use...
I probably need to run some analytics to see what is killing it in the first place... I always force close my apps though...
This happens on any OS, GB, or ICS...

I had the same problem which is why I went back to GB. Remember this is an ATT leak of an unfinished ROM. they have all sorts of unfinished code and debugging running that it's bound to cause these issues.

BINGO!!! Just checked some screen capture from battery stats from GB and my cell strength was no ways near as bad as it is on ICS. Need to see if any fixes are out there. It almost all tan for signal strength on ICS vs all green in GB. Same locales for both samples.
by the way, i was getting between 1 day to 1.5 days on rooted GB oc'd to 1.84 with 4 hours screen time. Did not ever see exchange using any noticeable % of battery. Now getting 15 hours with 2 hours screen time and exchange using 6% of the battery. Not going back yet because the pro's out weigh the con's.

Yep, it seems like the partial wakelocks are getting you.
It will go into deep sleep but then go up to 384 off and on.
Gtalk looks like the biggest culprit.
Like I said if data is off it shouldn't have wakelocks.
Another test you could do tonight is the exact same but put it in airplane mode.
It shouldn't budge much.....
I managed to find a way to log out of google talk, so I'll test it under the same conditions tonight to see if that changes anything.
Airplane mode overnight is not an option for me since I need cell service in case of emergency calls. Generally, I do notice slightly worse reception of the previous GB ROM, so the modem might be questionable.

Understood about the calls. You can get calls and texts without data though. That's why I was recommending 2x battery which is like juice defender I think. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.aDataOnOff&hl=en
I realized I really don't need data unless I 'want' data. I do push my emails but they won't push until I turn on data. Saves a lot of battery, especially when on LTE.....
It works well for me because you can set a delay for the data. So you can turn on your screen (not unlock) and see if you got any new texts. If not, put it back in my pocket. All without data coming on. I do these quick checks all time...
Then there is a delay time you can set after you unlock.
I have mine set to 3 min. If I do get a text, I will unlock, read it and maybe respond quickly, then put it back in my pocket. As long as its not mms that's all done without data.

I used to use juice defender but a couple things were a deal breaker for me:
1) First was that it rendered Cerberus almost completely useless. I could not get the phone to connect using the web interface at cerberusapp.com since the phone had no data with the screen off. Sure I could have used the SMS method of activation, but I don't have another phone to text from and it just isn't as flexible as the website.
2) Every time I unlocked the phone, I had to wait 10+ seconds for data to fully reconnect before I can start using stuff. When I unlock the phone, it's usually to check something very quick, and if I'm stuck waiting, I'd rather suffer the battery loss than to wait a bunch of times.
I suspect every battery saver app has this issue, and they can probably be configured to work to my needs, but I just don't have the time and patience to be tinkering with stuff like that.

JD Ultimate has an option that allows foreground apps to force enable/disable data, which is an easy thing to set. Also, my experience with JD is that data reconnects as soon as I unlock the phone and before I can launch an app. Battery saver apps are definitely frustrating, but I find that the correct settings fix 95% of the annoyances.
I hear ya on the time thing. Just thought I'd over up that tidbit. I don't seem to have much of a delay. 2x does allow for whitelisting apps you want to run like Pandora.

Yup, that's exactly why I don't want it. If I rarely/never use the app, I don't want it constantly connected wasting my battery and data. I wish there was an easy way to turn that off. I've been reading on Google and there were posts from 1-2 years ago that said signing out of gtalk doesn't help with the wakelock, so we shall see tonight when I test it again.

Actually, there is (sort of). Purchase an app called Autostarts on the market. Open it, wait for it to finish loading, hit the menu button, then tap the 'group by application' option.
Then, scroll thru the list to Google Talk and tap it. This will expand a bunch of different conditions that Google Talk automatically starts under. Disabling every condition will cause the app to never automatically start in the background (but the app will still launch if you manually launch it). Since I dont currently have root, I cant see what the conditions are, but you might need to leave one or two enabled if you need to receive incoming calls.
Reboot your phone after making any changes.
I should also mention that if you manually launch the app, you need to remember to manually close the app if this is what you assume is causing the battery drain.
If nothing else, you can use Autostarts to help determine if Gtalk is what is causing the issue by just disabling everything for it and watching battery drain rate.
I also use another app called Battery Widget Pro by 3c which will tell you everything about the battery and what exactly is causing it to drain.
What I would do is disable everything unless it looks like its something for receiving calls (if you need to receive calls that is) and reboot the phone, then test it by using another phone to call your Google # and make sure it works.
The point is tho to disable everything you can. I personally use Autostarts to disable every user app that doesnt either have a widget or a scheduled process that needs to run in the background to perform its task. Helps a crap ton with battery life.
So looks like signing out of google talk did not help anything looking at more detail in the better battery stats it might be google maps that's causing all the wakeups

Is anyone else getting Android OS around 50-60% battery use?
I have tried every ROM included going back to stock. I have ran the phone with nothing but Stock and no apps installed for a day and still get the same drain so I can only assume its a kernel issue.
I am not familiar with LG products in the slightest, but I had a yellow screen of death the other day...something I have never seen in my years with samsung android products. Anyone have any idea what this is maybe it is pointing to a hardware issue?
LG made a great phone, but I don't think I will keep it much longer. Locked boot loaders, no sources, and history of terrible updates have me regretting purchasing this phone. I tried my hand at building a working jb release when I first got the phone and it is going to take a skill set I do not have and I hate waiting on a company to do what they've never done in the past..

Easy, brother. I have only had one of my apps/utilities run higher than AndroidOS ever on this phone; however, that said, I think there is a problem with the way it's being calculated. I'm getting really good battery life with good sleep and still AndroidOS shows the highest by far. I know that's abnormal for it to be so high and still get good battery life, but it is what it is.
Edit: you've installed the fast dormancy toggle, right? As for the yellow screen, I've seen it once in my two months with the phone, just rebooted and carried on. Forgot what they said it was...but it is here in this forum somewhere.

I was just about to post something similar. Andriod OS being high kind of makes sense if nothing else is using the battery, although you would expect that number to fall significantly with increased screen on time and heavy app usage, which it doesn't ever seem to.
I've been having horrible battery drain lately. I'm currently traveling for business, and just use my OG for web surfing and stuff when I'm in my hotel. I leave the phone in airplane mode, with WiFi on. About two weeks ago, when I was on The Base 0.4 in that same configuration, my battery would drain maybe 1% an hour while I was sleeping.
Recently I've been on The Base 0.7.3, and my battery drains over 5% an hour while I'm sleeping. This means no screen on, no apps running, and even turning WiFi off! How does it use that much battery when it's not doing anything? Now, I'm not entirely sure what kernel I'm running. The first time I installed The Base 0.7.3 I used sk8's kernel. After getting poor battery life, I reflashed 0.7 and 0.7.3, this time choosing the freegee kernel. I'm not actually sure if the kernel changed though.
Anyway, I think I'll post again tomorrow with some screenshots from Better Battery Stats+ and CPU Spy.
I'm wondering if this recent botched update had the battery fixes we need. Hopefully they'll re-release it soon.

When I would get bad drain, which has happened several times, I could narrow it down to a couple things in order to solve the problem.
In my case it would always happen after installing Google+. Uninstall and reboot would usually fix the issue. If I got drain on a fresh install without g+ installed, I found that if I installed the 2.2 kernel separately as a stand alone zip, that would fix it. Don't know why but it may work for you too.
I don't have screen shots, but today I recharged at 38% after 3:10 of phone use and 1:55 screen on time and about 15 hours off charger. That's with Wi-Fi on the whole time and Bluetooth for about 9 hours. I have my work exchange account on active sync with push notifications. Facebook and Twitterer to 4 hour intervals. I'm underclocked to 1350 and using powersave gov with deadline.

Believe you are correct. There were issues on the Samsung Infuse and even the international SGS3 for a while... it was referred to as 'memory leak.' Has been worked out by devs on XDA. You can put memory leak in the XDA search above... it's above my pay grade.
Edit: It's great to see another RD here... hope you will reconsider keeping the phone and stay !!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have Google+ uninstalled, but part of me thinks Google Now may be partially the culprit (although why that would be the case with all radios off, I don't know).
I'll try a fresh install of the 2.2 kernel and see if that helps. Thanks.

I would be less inclined to believe it is a faulty measure if we had a different ROM not built off stock (AOKP/CM10) that could produce different values. However, I seriously doubt anything built into either of the two custom ROM's is geared toward normalizing that reading. That's why they are both the same as the stock AndroidOS percentages. Jivy is probably right that it's a kernel issue. With the size battery we have, imagine the potential if it is a true reading (androidOS out-of-control) and we can get it under control down the road. We're talking double the current best battery life you've ever had on this phone at the very least.

Get BetterBatteryStats, select Since unplugged and Alarms to see what is waking the device (making it not go into a deep sleep). eBay was a big culprit for me.
The wakelock that keeps the phone awake during background data transfer (screen off) lasts 6 seconds (I am guessing it does it in multiples of 6s) regardless of how long the sync takes. Everytime email, facebook, gmail, drive, picasa, twitter, g+, google maps, ebay, calendar, contacts.. whatever wakes the phone to check something, it will be a minimum of 6 seconds.. This adds up over the course of the day and it is counted in the Android OS. Shut down syncs you don't absolutely want/need and this number will go down. All phones with the Snapdragon S4 Pro has it, especially the Nexus4. It seems they've done some kernel work to fix/reduce it but I havent really looked into it since I don't have that phone. I've seen complaints in the Droid DNA forum as well.

This. EBay for me too. BetterBatteryStats is your friend.
Anyone else experiencing scrolling lag or delay. Clearing cache and wiping dalvik fixes it but the issue returns after about two days.

So here I am, upgraded from the GS3. I understand that the ME7 radio is locked and that safestrap is the only option. But here's my dilemma. I used to get 14+ hours of battery life on my GS3. Now I'm lucky to get 8 hours, if I'm not touching the phone whatsoever. I've tried stock, Jellybeans, and Darkslide (seems to be my only options but feel free to prove me wrong.) Is this normal? Do I have a defunct device? This just seems extremely poor to me... They can't advertise that this phone is so much better if it's getting less battery life than the fricken S3...
Side note: I've tried running w/o my apps, and by turning all of the motion sensor stuff off, but I do not see a difference.
I also am pasting a picture of my battery in stock. You can see that in one day, I have to put it on the charger. Yes, I use wifi, but I honestly wasn't using the phone (and I do not have my apps installed.) The first fall on the graph is me using netflix for an hour (battery decline here is understandable). The second fall is my phone sitting on my desk while I'm at work. I'm on my computer, not my phone... and it's almost declining as much as if I was watching netflix. I've restarted it.... used the android task manager to kill the ram... you name it... Every rom I flash I've flashed is like this. It's astronomically frustrating...
I get awesome battery life with Hyperdrive have you tried that at all?

It's obvious that some apps you have installed are causing this, I can get 14+ easy on mine. I highly suggest using Greenify to hibernate misbehaving apps and try to use auto-brightness if you can stand it.

A different rom wont make much difference if its something with the settings or a specific app you have running constantly. Do you have location services enabled. Thats a big one that causes alot of drain.

" I did a ton of reading on this prior to flashing, but from what I see people are only reading my first sentence and trying to answer (which is why the, "Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way," comment irked me.) I have been a rooted android user since Droid X, so I know how to read/research/troubleshoot phone issues. Believe me, I've had to SBF that phone a million times because each flash was like a crapp shoot. This issue however is a commonality between multiple SGS4 roms (Stock, Jellybeans, and Darkslide).
I always shut my location services off the second I flash a rom (unless I need to use my navigator, which as mentioned, I don't have installed at the moment.) But this is definitely a valid troubleshooting question to ask.

Turn off Google location services, see if that helps. That was killing my battery on ME7, same as yours. If your not into rooting, the 4.3 update has fixed that bug, I'm back to 3.5ish hours of screen on time. I did give up root though, so pick your battle i guess.

FYI it is possible to retain root and take the update as explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504408 If you've already updated though you'll just have to wait for an exploit.
To the OP: It's also possible you just have a bad battery... there have been cases of faulty batteries and some were even swelling up so perhaps you could try to get a replacement to see if it fixes it.
Here is a post I made a few months back..I was battling Horrible Battery life (approx 5-10% per hour). Since i caught the culprit in my home netork I get less than 1% drain idle per hour:
"I had bad battery life on my S4 right after release. I tracked it down to Multicast being ENABLED on one of my Access Points. I would recommend logging into your routers and/or) access points and look for anything related to Multicast and Disable it (or uncheck it).
Granted this was for a totally different device (note that my Nexus 7 was NOT affected by multicast) but it certainly cant hurt anything by disabling multicast..If it does, just enable it again.
My S4 was using approx 5%-8% of battery per hour with multicast enabled...once I disabled it, I now drain about 1% per hour.
This took me almost 2 weeks to discover...keeping in mind that my S4 never connected to the affected AP. I use that AP for older legacy devices.....just having it on the network affected my S4.
Give it a try..if it does not work..enable it again."
PS..disabling Google location services also helped me slightly with a runaway battery drain.

Ya, I saw, but not having root is kind of a penance, makes me appreciate having it more when I do get it. I've also decided flashing roms gets old, but for sure I'm missing Xposed framework.

I'm seriously starting to consider that as well... I'm on hyperdrive now but it really hasn't improved that much. I'm currently sitting at 19% since 8:45 am this morning (currently 4:01 PM here). So I'm going to just dip over 8 hours today, sitting at work while on my computer mind you, which is still sad in my eyes...

I'm definitely considering that OTA w/survival mode... no doubt about it.
Today I was using Navigation for about 4 hours straight, GPS and location services on, with LTE, also using Bluetooth the whole time for music and Poweramp with some texting in between. I only dropped 35%. It definitely sounds like you got a lemon (either the battery or phone).
