[Q] Display issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Unfortunately I couldn't find a similar post so here is my issue and question:
I'm not new to flashing, but i switched from my beloved S1 to the S2!
After trying different ROMs I decided to go with SlimBean. As the BLN is not supported I tried switching to the Dorimanx 7.47 Kernel.
Now here the problems start. First of all everything worked, it was nice and smooth but from time to time the display flashed red and came back to normal. After upgrading to Dorimanx 7.49 the problem was gone but my display-brightness and -colors were not the same. The brightness was unusually high and the colors seemed to be faded. (It quite looked like the gamma value were changed and since then I'm running my phone with a screenfilter-app)
So I reset all kernel settings before flashing the new kernel (including a fullwipe) and went back to the original Speedmod kernel +(SlimBean ROM) but the unusually high brightness and faded colors stayed the same!
My question now is: could that be a display hardware failure from changing the kernel or did I miss resetting some very basic core settings?? Has anyone experienced brightness/color problems like this?
thanks for any advice!

Flash a stock ROM and see if it persists.

Screen color & brighness issue after installing KI3

Hello,
Yesterday i changed from KF2 to KI3 (2.3.5) and it made me screen pic BAD!
it's lookes like the color settings went up while the brighness (the screen setup NOT the brightness at the setting menu that all it does is change the backlight) went very very low and the result is a ugly pic.
Then i tried to install KI4 and had the same issue.
meanwhile i restored my CWM backup to KF2.
how can i fix this problem?
Thanks a lot
I'm having a similar issue with my display color... it sucks!!!!
All I did was root using Odin/SuperOneClick
Hope somebody has some insight.

perhaps its the nature of the new rom. speedmod does address some of the image issues:

Battery problems

Hi folks, I've been doing a bit of scouting and haven't been able to find a solution as of yet so hoping somebody here can help me. I upgraded to ICS a couple of days ago from 2.3 and since then my battery has been going a bit odd.
My phone wouldn't come out of sleep and i kept having to do battery pulls to bring it back to life. I figured this was probably to do with my SetCPU setting being too low (200-500MHz for screen off) so i disabled the profiles and it still was happening. Have deleted SetCPU altogether and it has improved a tad bit. But now my phone does occasionally go into sleep mode and won't wake until i do a battery pull. But when i bring it back to life my battery is 15-30% lower than from before I did the pull.
I'm running 4.0.3
Sensation Rom 3.5
Siyah Kernal v3.3.2
PDA version XWLPG
Baseband DXLP9
I've attached two screenshots to show properly what I mean. Scrolling through ExTweaks shows me that siyah kernel itself also can change clock speed but there's too many options there for me to know safely what I'm doing. I've done battery recalibration twice with no luck so far.
Thanks in advance for any help!
flash stock rom and root and reflash sensation rom by doing a full wipe
do a full wipe, and reflash the rom.
Then see if you still have problems.
Then install your apps again, if you then ahve problems, you know your apps are causing it
You can also install betterbatterystats (free on xda), that app will tell you which app is causing wakelocks

[Q] Multitap Home BUtton leads to inverted Colours. Is this Normal??

Hello S2 users,
I got my SGS2 just a few days ago. From start, I am experiencing a strange thing.
If I multitap the home button(2-3 times), Each and every colour on the screen inverts.
First, I thought it was some sort of bug in stock ROM, but today when I flashed Custom AOKP ROM, it happened there too.
I tried it on the bootanimation screen and even the bootanimation colours got inverted.
I am using Siyah Kernel.
Please tell if its normal or do I need to replace my device.
P/S: Sorry if this type of thread is already here. I could not find it.
Thanks in Advance.
I noticed that 2 on RR and some other roms but on CM10 nothing
Its nothing dangerous i can say.
It's Syhian kernel future
If you press 4 times home button and then be Negative mode
If you'd read the either of the Siyah threads/bothered to learn about Siyah before you started using it you'd know Siyah has inverted screen colours as a feature.
You can turn it off in ExTweaks (on the 'screen' tab).

It is normal. It is a feature (MDNie effect) of Siyah kernel which can be toggled on /off by pressing the home button 4 times.
It mod was made so as to invert white pages while browsing, in order to save more battery.
Thanks All,
I did read Siyah kernel's Features and all but seems I somehow missed a point or two.
Sorry for a new thread about nothing.

[Q] Weird sound - any ideas - only in custom ROMs

OK, so this is a really weird one. Never posted before as never had problem like this!
Current: SG3 i9300 international
Flashed a few ROM's without issue. Yesterday I flashed Slim Bean (had it on this device before without issue, so don't think it's the ROM). Full wipe etc before and after flash. After boot, I get to the homescreen and this strange 'notification' type sound repeats, like doo-de-doo doo-de-doo over and over again, sometimes it lags and overlaps itself, sometimes it stops altogether for a few seconds, then starts again. It stops totally when the screen goes off (deep sleep?). Really annoying.
No problem I thought - flash something else, so I tried another two ROMs (PA and Cyanogen 10.1) - full wipe before and after. Exactly the same issue occurs.
No problem I thought - I'll go back to stock, then come back to custom.
Went back to stock ROM (unrooted again) and suprise, suprise the noise was gone! Brilliant - fixed!
Flashed PA 3 this morning and the stupid noise is back again...
Any one got any ideas whats going on here? I don't think it's the ROM's themselves, but not overly techie, so wouldn't rule it out completely - the fact that it happens across loads of different ROMs makes me think it's not that causing it...

Seems to be affected by the volume of notifications, but not ringtone, alarm or media. I can't find a matching notification in my phone... although it sounds similar to "Bellatrix" notification.
