Jittery/choppy audio playback on screen off - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've recently noticed a really bad jittery/ choppy playback when and only when the screen is off.
Happens with both MortPlayers and with native audio app.
I am currently on Android 4.1.2 official release, rooted.
Googling around I haven't found any other similar problem.
Any help appreciated
Many thanks.
Cheers.

Fixed
Solved -- trough a reboot.

Videocamera volume bug

Hi,
Sorry if this has already been covered but the search function is down right now so I can't check.
So far with Wolfbreak, Ultima and EWjet ROMs, I find that the videocamera doesn't pick up sound very loud at all. When playing videos back, the audio can barely be heard.
The volume is fine in all other respects (youtube/music/ringtone+notifications/in call volume), so the speaker hardware itself is fine - this is specific to the videocamera.
I've tried stock kernels that come with the Roms as well as Doomlords kernel (due to its in call volume fix) but nothing seems to help with this particular issue.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know how to fix it?
All suggestions welcome guys, and thanks in advance....

It's not a speaker issue, it's a microphone issue.
It captures low quality sound apparently.
Maybe someone can make an improvement by tweaking media_profiles.xml and editing the SemcCamera app.
UPDATE:
FYI
So I've now tried pretty much every custom 2.3+ ROM going and it's the same on all of them.
Reverted to 2.1 yesterday and the problem did not occur -
I then updated to official 2.3 via SE PC companion and found this same problem exists even on the official update, so it would seem that no matter what ROM you use, as long as it's 2.3 or higher, you WILL have this problem.
Sorry if this is common knowledge or anything but I haven't been able to find this info anywhere.

[Q] ICS XLPQ Bluetooth streaming problem.

Hi all,
Since i've installed the official ICS rom on my phone i have one major issue.
When i stream music over bluetooth to my car hifi it lags, well it's worse then lag i cannot even hear the music it's like constantly stopping and playing like if someone was spamming the start stop button. I never had this problem with GB 2.3.6.
I somewhat found a workaround but it's rly annoying to keep doing this to hear music. What i do is just when i connect to my car hifi i start playing with the volume rocker buttons so i can hear it trough my car, when I'm doing this i press the play button on the music player then it works fine until i stop the car or go to FM and go back to BT
This is definitely software related because the workaround i just described makes it work again :S. I don't want to go back to GB do you guys know the cause of this and do you maybe have a fix? Is this issue solved in the newer version of ICS XLP2? All i saw is that all of them have the same kernel so i did not upgrade.
produc yllinke
I'm having exactly the same problem. I've never used 2.3 so cannot say if it's a 4.0 problem but it certainly looks like so..
I'm running resurrection remix 10 and use it on a Toyota TNS510 system..
Just a notice that this seems fixed for me now.
I've upgraded to the 4.0.4 Rom found here: Click!
Next to this i'm using the app "doubleTwist"
ICS talks a different language then gingerbread when it comes to A2DP, especially for the play/pause commands, which seem important to me..
Has anyone made reference to what the cause of the bug is in their code logs???
I did not find any solution for this problem. Some apps like poweramp have a solution internally which reduces my problems a bit. But when i use tune in for instance i still get hickups. Im using F1GalaxyNexus AOSP rom at the moment.

[Q] Distorted sound when 5.1 surround sound enabled?

Hi everyone, I have a galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) upgraded to android 4.0.3, and whenever I enable the 5.1 surround sound in the native music player, the song I'm listening to becomes distorted; it slows down and sounds weird.
I think it did work once, but since then its never worked with any mp3 file, regardless of size. I haven't tested it on other formats, because I mainly use mp3 for music etc.
I've googled like mad to try and find an answer as to why this happens.....but I can't find a solution.
Equaliser and sound effects are all set to normal, but it still sounds really distorted when 5.1 is enabled. Without 5.1 it sounds great (I did the Beats Audio hack a few days ago).
Oh and I've tried several different headphones to no avail...
Any ideas why this happens? And how I could fix it?
Same here!
Hello,
Before the ICS upgrade my 5.1 music was as pleasant as it could get. I tried using this effect in my car last weekend and yes, it is very distorted. Did you manage to fix it?
magn8
update
Did you try to contact the Samsung service desk?
you need to get back to the service centre I guess. I had the same issue when it was updated via kies. Samsung reloaded the OS for me and its good to go now , except for heating issues which I threw away their stock kernel and went for speedmod

It works and it works like magic!
Ha ha......yeah. I switched off the phone and removed the batter to check the serial number so that I can register it for servicing.
Later, switched on the phone and it just works fine!
Chaps, try this and let me know if it helps.

There is some issue with ICS 4.0.3 for india update i guess, u need to restart the phone to get off with the error. Once restarted 5.1 effect works fine.
I just want to know if it could be some hardware fault.

[Q] Play Music stuttering

Hello Guys,
First of all, a happy newyear to all of you
Since a few months i encouter an anoying problem whenever i play some music via Bluetooth. As soon as my screen gets off, the sound starts to stutter on irregular base. The app i'm using to play my music is Google Play Music.
On the moment that the sound is stuttering and i activate my screen, the stuttering stops immediately and the music keeps playing smoothly.
I already did a search on google and this forum, but couldn't get an appropriate answer to solve this problem.
The ROM that's installed on my device is UltimaRom 15.1 i.c.w. Boeffla Kernel (default profile).
Does anyone can help me to fix this irritating sound problem?
Thanks

I had a similiar problem: try another cpu governor with more perfomance like lulzactiveq. but maybe battery drain will increase

Weird Audio Issue with OxygenOS running Android 10

Hello,
My phone has been having odd audio issues after I updated to Android Q. I had an app where I disabled an option for Bluetooth audio stutter reduction and it seemed to fix the issue, but it doesn't seem like an option available to other apps I have.
Is there a way to fix this? I have a couple screen recordings with examples of this. It mostly happens with games, with little to no issues with other apps.
As I am a new user, I am not allowed to post links in my messages. Email me at [email protected] for the clips if you would like.
Thanks!
