How to sync Birthdays to Google Calendar? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello together
Well, my problem is simple:
I have 200+ contacts on my phone, most of which including their birthdays.
My contacts are synced to Google so if I select the "Birthday" calendar in Google Calendar I get to see the birthdays in my calendar.
The problem being, that new contact's Birthdays are not shown!
It seems the birthday calendar only syncs like every year.
So say I add a new contact who's birthday is two weeks from now, then his birthday will NOT show in my calendar in two weeks.
Seems to be a bug in google's contacts or calendar.
Is there some kind of syncer/updater to take care of that for me?
Thanks

Birthday reminders

Question:
After entering a birthday in the contact info, am I supposed to get a reminder on my calendar regarding that birthday?
Today my friend had a birthday. I didn't get any form of a reminder even though I entered his birthday in the contact info.
Kind of defeats the purpose for putting it in in the first place.
yeh I noticed that it doesn't appear in the calender too
You do get a reminder, but not in your calender.
If you scroll over to updates & events in your phone book then you will see the first 3 birthdays & any facebook notifications. Also about a week before the persons birthday their picture in the phone book list will show a 1 to let you know they have a event upcoming
Have you tried adding the "contacts' birthdays"-calendar in Google Calendar?

Tried that, but it does not seem to copy the birthday from facebook into the actual contact item in google.so it then never appears in the contacts birthday calendar. or at least, that's what it's doing on mine.
Would be nice if it added it to the calendar, but at least there in the people
You're right. I hope HTC makes it possible to sync information from facebook to google contacts. Would be nice if you got a notification telling you if someone changed their phone number/address/e-mail on facebook, and asking you if you wanted to apply the changes to contacts.
But, at least birthdays should be synced. I am considering manually adding all birthdays to my google contacts, as that at least gets them in the birthdays-calendar.

Where is this calendar? Come to think of it, not all my calendars that I see on Google Calendar on the web are showing on the device. Anyone got any ideas how to refresh the list of available calendars?
To have the birthday calendar sync from your gmail contacts you have to go to the google calendar web --> settings --> Browse public calendars --> add Contacts' birthdays and events.
It works great for me!
Is there any way to edit the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar from inside GoogleCalendar inside yor web browser so that the changes sync back to your contacts on an Android phone?
Not in googlecalendar web. Just Add the birthday to the contact in gmail or in your phone and it will apear in the calendar...
I've noticed that only birthdays are being added to the calendar. But I'd like to sync also other anniversaries.
I cannot see
I added the contacts and events calendar into my google calendar online and added a birthday to one of my contacts. That birthday appears in my online calendar but it not being synced to my phone.
I dont see the birthday in my calendar on my phone nor do I see it in the contact details on my phone.....why ?
I was experimenting with this today as well, and only managed to get it to sync the birthday contacts once; the ones that were already in my google contacts when I enabled it are visible, any new ones are never appearing however I try.
Edit:
Correction! After leaving it on for a night, I now see the changes! It just took a very very long time for the update to percolate to the phone, even if google calendar sees it properly.
Manual updates apparently make no difference...
I also managed to get the contact-calendar for birthdays to work. but the year of the birthday isn't showed, so I think the best way for me is to crate a recurring event in the personal google calendar with the actual birthday.

That or get android 2.0 from somewhere; since I hear it should support contacts birthdays. HTC even said that they will push 2.0 to the Hero, if you don't want to "hack" it. Of course, then you have to wait for them to get the SenseUI ported..

Contacts Birthdays in Calendar?

Ignoring the sync with Google Calendar and Facebook completely - does a Birthday entered manually in the Birthday field of a Contact ever automatically appear in the Calendar? Or does it just appear in the Updates and Events tab of the People app?
Just in updates. You can use EboBirthday to grab birthdays for all your fb contacts
(warning, even ones not in your contacts, or with a diff name, so you end up with rather a lot)
and then EboBirthday Contact Sync to put them on your gmail, which I would assume would put them in your cal.
But its a bit long, sorry

[Q] syncing contact's birthdays calendar with google

in Google Contacts, i have activated the "Contact's Birthdays and Events" calendar. while i can use this calendar for example in Thunderbird or even the old mobile, the calendar won't load in the SGS2's calendar app - it is not even listed as calendar at all.
some calendar widgets from the market do list the birthday calendar as "inactive", which probably means that it's currently not synced. other Google Calendars like "Week Numbers" work just fine, so it seems that the birthday calendar is not synced on purpose. from reading forum posts, it also seems possible to use this calendar in other android devices...
has anyone found a way to get the birthday calendar to work with the SGS2?

[Q] Contact birthdays in calendar

Is there a way how I can stop my address book contacts birthdays from showing up in my calendar without removing their birth date ? I want it like in Sense, where the contacts have their birthdays filled out, but they're not showing up in the calendar (at least I had it like that in my Desire), since the calendar is already showing their birthdays from my gmail or facebook and I hate having duplicates there. Any ideas how to do this ? Thanks.
Nobody has an issue with multiple birthdays showing up in their calendar ?

Some of my contacts birthday shows up multiple times from 2-3 times on some for them.
I like tha fact that they show but its abit annoying to see same birthday 3 times
It is annoying, a lot, that's why I'm looking for a fix...

[Q] Searching for a better Birthday App (with group-based filters, google contacts..)

Hello everybody,
I spent the last hour with what felt like reading about almost every birthday app in the play store.
But not a single one seems to do what I am looking for. *sigh
I have a lot of Google Contacts and I am pretty eager to have my friend's and colleague's brithdays in there. I usually add them manually.
Google Calendar has become an omnipresent companion in my life...so I used the "show birthday calendar" feature since it was introduced in the Calendar's "Labs".
To not miss out on birthdays of newer friends, which I haven't added to my Google Contacts yet, I subscribed to the iCal-Feed of Facebook, as well.
So far so good...but there are problems:
Problem #1:
I want to avoid facebook-synchronisation, because my opinion is that my whole adress-book is none of facebook's business. So syncing contacts and canceling the facebook ical-subscription is no option. Besides that I wouldn't be able to see all the other facebook events.
So around 50% of my birthdays appear twice in my Google Calendar, one pulled from Google Contacts and the other one from Facebook.
Problem #2:
It would be best to set reminders for individual contacts or groups and not for the entire calendar. The latter is the only option for subscribed calendars, such as the direct Google Contact pulled one, as well as the facebook feed.
So for a while I used eboBirthdays to sync all of the contact's birthdays into a new and separate editable "normal" Google Calendar "calendar". That worked quite well, even though I was missing out on the facebook contacts again.
(I know that eboBirthdays added a facebook sync feature, but many people chose to use different or abbreviated names on facebook (mostly for privacy reasons) which makes an automated sync impossible.)
Problem #3:
There are just too many contacts so that almost every day there are 3-4 birthdays marked in my calendar.
I organize all my contacts in many separate Google Contacts groups. This helps me to filter them in my all my contact applications easily and with no additional tools.
It would be great to select the displayed birthdays based on this groups as well.
Is there any birthday app that comes close to those functions?
Or is there another solution that I am just overlooking?
I would be thankful for every hint
All the best!
No one? :/
Is there nothing out there?
