[Q] SGS2 Some kind of brick, pc won't detect this phone but it dose detect other SGS2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have a bit of a problem with my SGS2.
After updating to 4.1.2 from 4.0.3 it just died after 24 hours.
It doesn't go into recovery mode ( i had clockwork recovery)
It get stuck on SGS2 Logo when i try to boot it.
I can go into Download mode, but my PC won't detect it so i can flash it again with Odin.
Now, i tried to connect with a dozen cables, 5 different PCs, i even went to a GSM Service and had the usb module changed.
Still doesn't work or is unseen by my PC or any of the others PCs i have at hand.
I have all needed drivers installed. Other SGS2 can be detected by my PC and any other Android devices i tried so far.
Now in download mode it says:
Product Name :GT-i9100
Custom Binary Download: Yes (3 counts)
Current Binary: Custom.
I've tried some soft bricks solution to see if i can get it to work, but no luck so far since Odin is unable to detect my phone.
I understand i might have NAND rw corruption, but i didn't fully understand what that is and how to fix it.
What can i do to unbrick this phone or fix it?
Thanks in advance

Is your phone an I9100? Check under the battery.
Try other odin versions.
And tell us exactly what have you tried to flash.
Sent from the little guy

Yes, my phone is GT-i9100 for sure.
I've successfully flashed from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 using CWM and i as i said the in previous post, the phone just stopped working after 24 hours or so.
After that i tired to flash the same 4.1.2 with Odin, to get it to work, but my phone couldn't be detected by any PC.
I tried with Odin 1.85 and 3.04, same thing with both of the versions.

There are a lot of 4.1.2 ROMs.
Sent from the little guy

I don't which 4.1.2 ROM i used at the moment, I'm at work, i have all the info i need on my PC home.
But i still can't understand why my USB is not working, do you have any idea?

It could be anything, but your pc will see your device, that's for sure.

[Q] need help might of bricked phone :/

I have a s 2 i flashed a Lightening rom XWEK7 and it worked fine all day until a hour ago when my phone froze and restarted it self and now it wont recognize being plugged in it will go into download mode on the phone but still wont come up on the computer end. And is currently not going past the screen that says " Samsung Galaxy S 2 GT - 19100 and the yellow triangle at the bottom.
Need help ASAP as is my work phone.
The main thing is you can get into download mode. Get stock firmware from here if your carrier is listed, if not get country specific firmware here and flash that in Odin.
Edit - I just re-read your post & realised your PC won't recognise your phone. Uninstall/reinstall Kies so you have the drivers in place for Odin to recognise the phone (drivers might be corrupt ?). Make sure you kill off Kies in task manager before you attempt to flash stock firmware in Odin. If you find the PC still won't recognise your phone try a different USB cable/different USB ports (I know there's only one port on my laptop Odin works on), failing that try a different PC/different version of Windoze. And if all that doesn't work, you might want to try Heimdall. Search the forum, plenty of posts on how to use it (never used it myself so I can't guide you in the use of same).

S3 Bricked [Soft?]

Hello all, I have a GS3 international GT-I9300
I'll try to go through the story as fast as I can and give as much detail so you guys can understand how I got here.
Bought the phone unlocked, I was stock, I rooted and then I decided to install a new ROM. I went with Resurrection Remix, it was working great. I did this on a desktop back home. They released a new update to RR so I did a OTA update with "Update Me" apparently the thing flashed but it didn't, the phone still worked but NFC wasn't working as well as having lost root access and some other stuff wasn't working correctly, but I lived with it.
I moved to Florida (home is in NY) and I have a laptop with me, for some reason my laptop used to be able to transfer files to my S3, but it wasn't doing it any more after a while. So it would just charge it. I was in a hotel room last week trying to tether via USB but the PC wasnt having it, it could not locate the phone. This week I moved to a different hotel with internet and decided I would flash stock on my S3 to get rid of all these bugs and get root again, I tried flashing stock through recovery and it wasn't going, so I tried flashing RR again (this time downloaded from the site RR site) and it worked. Still no USB connection but I had root back. I looked around my PC and apparently the Samsung drives are not installing or something on my PC. I installed Kies, but nothing, I tried a stand alone driver install and nothing, so I just gave up and bought Mobile Odin pro from Gplay to try to flash again.
Mobile Odin for some reason (I blame it on myself) wasn't finding/flashing stock so again I decided to try and flash RR and see what would happen. It flashed RR and turned on fine. Then I just decided to look for an NFC fix on XDA. Once I found my NFC fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32029713&postcount=8367) I decided to just copy the files to the system folder, NFC still not working, rebooted and NFC still no working, so I figured I would try to flash the fix through mobile odin seeing as how I can't get my PC to pick up on the USB. I tried flashing but MO just kept bouncing it back and re-booting into RR. Tried again and no flash. So I decided to again try and flash stock. I tried going into Recovery, the phone shut off like it always does, came back on but stayed in the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 logo and would not move. I shut it off again, tried turning it on again and still stuck on the galaxy logo. Now, if I leave the phone off and plug in the USB, it won't show the battery charging image, it will actually turn straight onto the galaxy logo again and stay there. I can get the phone into download mode, but like I said my pc won't recognize the drivers.
Now, here are my questions:
What happened?
Can this be fixed?
Am I an idiot?
If I can get the drivers installed on another PC as well as Odin (1.85), will the new PC "see" the S3 or are the drivers on the phone deleted as well? (if that sort of thing can happen, idk.)
I'm going to see if I can borrow a buddy's PC and download the drivers as well as odin to try and bring my S3 back to life, I just want to know, what happens if I can't get the other PC to pick it up ether because the drivers on the phone are deleted (if that's a thing) or what I can expect if it is connected.
What are the steps or guides to follow here? I just got it into Download mode and it says on the top of the screen:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-I9300
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
sorry , i am sometime getting headache reading long english text so i just briefly look over.
your PC doesn't recognize your S3 ? is that correct ? hmmm , is it possible that your PC (Microsoft Windows I assume?) system is damaged due to something like virus or some reasons ? i have encountered that kinda problem before and be OK after i reinstalled the system.
If it's a soft brick, then it can defiantly be fixed. You might, however, lose your data along the process.
Be glad it's not hard bricked
It happened to me many times, USB error "unknown device" connected. Only fix for it was reinstalling Windows so better if you can use different PC or laptop. Install Kies and other USB drivers. Restart computer, download and run Odin v 3.0x. Flash your phone.
If this doesn't work then maybe your phone have a problem with USB port?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try to fix tit today, I didn't get a chance to do it last night. If anything I'll update you guys with what's going on.
Like I was saying, I'll try using a different PC to fix it. Now, if I can't get Odin to recognize the phone, what would be the next step?

[Q] I9300 won't boot, has no recovery mode and isn't getting recognized by Windows

Hi guys, I need some help with my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.
A couple weeks ago my phone turned off by itself and never turned on completely again. If I turn it on, it stays on the very first boot screen forever (the white text saying Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, like this one (https://cdn-images.xda-developers.com/direct/1/1/5/2/1/9/8/I9300.bootlogo.jpg).
I've removed the SIM card and the MicroSD card with no effects whatsoever, and I've also left the device turned on for hours but it always stays on the same screen.
I cannot enter recovery mode (it just shows the boot screen mentioned above) but I can enter download mode. At download mode, I get this info:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-I9300
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Oficial
As you can see, I have never flashed a custom rom (or rooted or even unlocked the bootloader). This is what intrigues me the most, since everybody I've seen with the same problem had trouble during or after a flash.
My last OS version was 4.3.1 and it was received OTA months ago.
In the past few months, my device rebooted out of nowhere, even when I was not using it. Occasionally, it had the stuck power button, which caused it to reboot on a loop, but I always solved it by nudging the power button a little. I don't know if these two previous problems might have caused the problem I'm facing now, but they're not showing up anymore.
Anyway, I've tried to flash the newest official rom (NK1 - ZTO) via Odin but I always get a NAND Write error.
I've tried changing USB ports, USB cable and computers; tried Odin 3.04, 3.07 and 3.09; tried Samsung USB drivers v1.5.45 and 1.5.49 but nothing of the above made any difference.
Today things started getting worse, though. In the past, Windows would always recognize the device on at least one specific USB port; Odin would also recognize the device and then I would get the NAND Write error. Now, Windows will not recognize the device no matter the cable, USB port or driver version. I only get a unknown device error and Odin won't recognize anything connected.
I tested all my setup with a working Galaxy S3 I9300 and it got recognized every single time, no matter the USB port, the cable or the computer.
Considering that another device is getting recognized by different computers, I suppose that the problem lies in my Galaxy S3.
So, can anyone offer me any kind of advice or point me in any direction on how I can try to fix my phone? Is my phone physically dying and no software solution will unbrick it?
Your power button issue has corrupted/damaged the nand memory. Try the dead boot recovery thread in general forum but unless you have warranty you might be better off with a new phone.
I was afraid of that.
I checked the post you mentioned but it seems I'd have to buy tools and hardware more expensive than the phone itself, so I'd rather buy a new smartphone.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] Root when phone is not detected

Hello everyone, I could not find a good title for my issue but I will try to explain as well as I can. I own a GT-I9300 (International), but since last official Samsung's firmware update(Jelly Bean 4.3) I am not able to get my phone recognized by my computer. Phone is connected and it charges, but neither Windows or Ubuntu recognizes it as a portable device. I am concerned about UMS is not available on device, but my phone it does not even get detected! I also own a Galaxy SII (4.1.2) and it does get detected by my PC. I think that flashing a custom ROM could solve the problem, since it appeared when I updated official firmware, but the thing is that I cannot root my phone! Tried ODIN but since my phone does not get detected, ODIN does not do its job. I also tried rooting with framaroot and towelroot, but no success: first one says "Failed , try another exploit" but there is only one. And the last one says my phone is not currently supported, even if I change modstrings.
So here is my question: how do I root my phone? I don't know what else I could try. I have already reinstalled Kies and Samsung USB drivers but still not working. Also hard-resetted but no luck.
Hope you guys can help me out because this is really getting on my nerves
Thanks in advance!

I have already tried with every port on my PC. I'm using the USB cable that actually came with the device and it is working when I plug in another phones.
And yes, I have activated USB debugging

The thing is that my phone is the only one that do not get detected every single time I connect it. I have already connected one GT-I9100 and GT-S6790L and both get detected. I already tried on 3 different Virtual Machines with Windows XP, Ubuntu, Windows 8.1 but no luck.
As I said in the first post, I think it's a firmware problem since it appeared when I did the official update, which was this one:
Model GT-I9300
Model name GALAXY S III
Country Argentina
Version Android 4.3
Build date Wed, 05 Nov 2014 20:33:08 +0000
PDA I9300UBUGNK1
CSC I9300UVOUGNK1

I can see your frustration Now a few things technically it is a misconception that you need root to flash a custom rom you can actually flash a custom recovery with Odin full wipe and then flash a custom rom from custom recovery (only thing is you will lose all your data because you need root to back up your data)
Now I know the above statement is not very helpful because as you said Odin doesn't detect it (but I thought I would mention it anyway )
The reason framaroot and towelroot, didn't work is because at the moment the only way to root S3 is with Odin.:crying:
You may have tried this but I will mention it anyway first uninstal Kies and all Samsung drivers from your computer ( kies can interfere with Odin) Then try installing these drivers here >> http://developer.samsung.com/techni...Lhp1GqlWRy92Q60CX6PP1mF!80806326?v=T000000117 << If you have tried this then sorry.
Also when you connect the phone go to Device manager in Windows and try to look for your device ( it may say unkown device) it should have a warning triangle right click on it select update driver software and then select browse from my computer and point to the drivers that you have downloaded see if that works.
Another thing to note is if you are using Windows 8 you need to disable Driver signature in start up options ( Google it) for Windows to recognize the drivers.

I already tried uninstalling Kies and Samsung drivers. Also I tried looking for device on Device Manager but it does not appear when I plugin my S3, but it does appear when I connect other devices like S2 or Galaxy Fame Lite. They appear as portable devices.
I'm using Windows 7 on my PC and have already tried with different OS over Virtual Machines and still doesn't work.
And thanks for that note, didn't know there was possible to flash a Custom Recovery without root, but I can't since ODIN doesn't detect device :crying:
Then it looks like you are running out of options I would use another computer not Virtual Machines
Okay I'll give it a try but as I said before, looks like an firmware issue, not computer's. Why would my computer detects two another Samsung devices but not mine (which used to work until last update)
Me, too!
I'm having a similar problem. Last week my GS3 stopped working, and I bought another one from Ebay with a cracked screen and swapped out motherboards. The phone seems to work as well as a stock Verizon phone on Jellybean would, but I can't get my Linux, Win 8, or Win XP computers to even recognize that it's attached. Different cables, each and every one of the USB ports, not even a blip. Device Manager in Windows doesn't even see it, and yes I got the developer options unlocked and have enabled USB debugging.
I've got the Samsung drivers installed, and tried to install the CWM device drivers from the SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V9, but there was an error and that didn't work, either.
USB connection issues are usually due to Windows conflicts, driver problems or the lead itself. If all these have been excluded then you have either a firmware issue in the bootloader, which is very uncommon, or a hardware problem. The usb port is easily worn/damaged/dirty also the motherboard might be the cause.
There is no silver bullet to cure, test each possible thoroughly.

I'm 100 percent sure that it is not due a Windows issue, I have already test every option. I have not considered the usb port to be damaged or worn, which could be possible but phone charges every time I connect it to computer. It just does not get detected as a device. But in order to assume it is a motherboard issue I will have to put away my feeling that the problem is caused by last OTA official update, since this problem started there.
If it is a firmware update issue, is it any option to flash another ROM?

As I said on previous posts, I have already installed and reinstalled Samsung USB drivers and made a factory reset -one from config. option and another one from Android stock recovery 3e (since I cannot install any advanced recovery -or even root it- to flash a custom rom). Doing those factory reset did not downgrade my last firmware update (when all my problems started).
I also said on previous posts that I tried towelroot and framaroot with no success. As tallman43 says, seems like international version of S3 does not support those kind of one-click to root apps.
-----------------------------------------------------
So far the only options available (if my theory about latest firmware update is the problematic one) are:
● downgrade firmware: [Q] How? Odin is not working since my phone does not get detected;
● root my phone in order to install an advanced recovery and flash a new ROM: [Q] Any way of rooting phone without computer (apart from towelroot or framaroot because I have tried and do not work for me)? I read one XDA post from 2 years ago to root S3 via console apk but latest comments assumes that method stopped working.
● install an advanced recovery without odin or root: [Q] How?
● fix USB firmware issue: [Q] I have completely no idea how to do it. (Already played with *#7284# and *#0808# but did not get my phone detected)
Please I need help, this is really irritating me and I am running out of ideas

I guess I have found out what the problem was. It was not firmware (as I thought). It was the micro USB port (as boomboomer said) which seems to not be firmly attached to the PCB. AC charging just seems to work okay, but not USB connections. I managed to figure it out by forcing the USB in a specific position to get it detected for 5 seconds, but then it disappeared.
Yeah, it was not as complex as I thought! I will try to replace that micro USB port as soon as possible, thanks everyone for your help!

Samsung Galaxy sg2 GT-I9100 download mode
Hi and please help fellow Samsung users
I have a Samsung Galaxy sg2 GT-I9100
One morning I woke up and my sg2 wouldn’t boot past the Samsung screen.
It won’t go to the recovery mode only download mode
I can only get to download mode
When I connect the phone by usb I get a blue sign in Odin It does show up in Odin in the coms
I have tried to flash it with Odin with 5 stock roms and Odin shows cache and fails every time.
I have removed all traces of kies and rebooted and the usb cable is also fine, I have also tried different versions of Odin to no avail
My question is what can or should I try next?
Please advise
I had this problem once. Couldn't success flashing via Odin even if the Odin was detecting my phone....was giving fail message........then as a last resort, more of frusrtatedly I pushed/shook the USB pin a little bit....voila! I got success.......flashed!!!!!!

I have heard of using pit files as a last resort
I will give a reward to anyone by PayPal for a fix
