[Q] Xperia Sola video hardware acceleration question - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi. I tried searching around the forum but I didn't reach a conclusive response. I just bought a Sola (it's completely stock) and decided to try to watch a few movies on it. I downloaded MX Player and noticed that it wouldn't use HW, just SW rendering. I downloaded the ARMv7 Neon codec but it didn't help. Am I missing something or HW is not supported on the Sola because of the NovaThor SoC?

MX player PRO supports hardware acceleration, not the free version. I am using PRO version on my Sola and it uses H/W.

there is a message popup on PRO version that specifically tells me of H/W, was not there in free. it might have been supported though.

You need the ARMv6 version.
The Wildfire cpu does not support ARMv7 cpu instructions.

I can't play videos both on v7-v6 versions. Rockplayer sucks on Wildfire. My last hope is Froyo and Coreplayer

There are 2 ARMv6 versions.
You need the one with VPF in the title.

I confirm what Skye Menjou said. I installed the armv6_VPF version and it works like a charm...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I installed the VPF one first and it didn't worked. It's even didn't opened. The not-VPF one is working but sucks on playing videos. When playing device locks down, responses later, or showing the video in poor-quality. But I'll install the VPF one again...
Regards. The zeph!
Edit: Installed it but didnt worked. You can use the 'Videos' instead of Rock Player. It plays every video that you converted with Handbrake.
I am using arcMedia for playing videos.
It works, and it's free. No subtitle support though.
I installed the ARM6 Version and tried playing a .avi file but the video playback was very slow ....
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I'm having the same issue... Tried to play an .avi file but the playback is really slow.. I then tried to play an .mp4 file but same result with the .avi file.. I tried playing the same .mp4 file with the default ('videos') player and it played smoothly.. Are there some sort of settings that I need to do with rockplayer to be able to play videos smoothly?
how about coreplayer and smartmovie for android?
I installed Rockplayer from the market, it played by stuttering and full of ads.
Meridian in free, and seems great so far (my vids are created in handbrake, so i haven't worried about formats)
any feedbacks regarding rockplayer on wildfire?
Download the rockplayer that supports arm v6 processors. It won't necessarily play all videos, download Handbrake to edit the video files (resolution, compression type, container and etc) before playing it in your wildfire

It works with skyfire because that browser routes traffic through its own servers that pre-render flash and assorted other things before delivering it to the browser.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt a flash player one of main highlights of Froyo update (android 2.2)?
But since SE stated that there will be no Froyo update to x8 and x10 series, yea.. no flash for now, but not due to processor or model support.
hmmm i tested it but it works only on youtube so far

well.. there ya go, I couldn't get either of these sites playing video on Skyfire.. the first one kept going to a online games site (of course flash games are not going to work)
and the second one didn't load the videos..
Of course the sites I tend to use are mostly News sites with short flash video clips and they all seem to work.
So.. sorry to say I don't think you are going to get much Joy from Skyfire.. even though it works fine for me..
Sorry I couldn't help.
for those who still thinks that we can have flash in our devices
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/index.html#mobile
Skyfire is ok for some pages, but most of them doesn't work properly. I just want flash for megavideo, and it doesn't work with skyfire, as someone said, keeps redirecting to an ad page
yes flash games sites doesnt work either
windows 98 xD
IngThe ultimate solution would be installing windows 98
however I dont thins our videcardmemory could deal with it
xD however I wodant be shocked if it worked
i'l stick with 3.1 for now heheheh or wait 4 an fully compatible html5 browser .....
well anyway redirecting to an flashgames sit it is I will digg into this downloading an bunch of browser preparing proxies "loan"

Moboplayer
Arc media I clicked on the MKV file and he then returned to the main screen. Mobo player loaded normally and ran, but ran with lag in the format MKV (High Definition). What do you recommend me? Use the 7 2.3.4 Cyanogen

Of course, if you try playing 720p movies will be slow, because our processor it's only 600Mhz, or what you have overclocking, and for playing 720p it's needed 1GHz +, so best resolution for see movies smooth -> 480p max
lol
thanks for the explanation. Just a question! Do you think that our processor could handle a day with a 1 Ghz modifcações that will arise? Why does our phone supports 720, but we do not have the necessary processor. What do you think?

You mean overclock it to 1GHz ? it will explode your device max handle its 825mhz, and only few people have reached it, best speed seems to be 691 MHz

Not for ARM v6 processors.
Why would you even want Honeycomb on our phone? Honeycomb is ment for tablets and most apps for it will likely well, be unusable.

sir im curently using sony ericson x10 mini and im recently update cm9-3.0.3 and flash ics 3 kernal also all are workng propery bt only I hve video play issue that means when I play the video sound goes fast rather than video sametime video lagging also and anthr issue some application when I using its says 'sory unfortunatly operamini stoped' so pls help to me. welcm any post and thx
If these videos are HQ videos, then the problem is caused by the lack of OMX codecs for your device (armV6 on ICS lacks these codecs).

Thx for your earlier reply. So how can i upgrade that code or any solution for that?
the lag is because hq videos use divx codecs which is found on higher end phones........no way of upgrading it....google search for supported codecs for your device.it will be in spec list...then convert it the res supported by your device(also found in spec list) it will 320x240 like this....and choose your device's codecs using format factory or any other video converters...copy it to your device and enjoy

Qualcomm has not released the codecs for armV6 instruction set devices running ICS (because of incompatibility), so there is no way to update them.

Its probably not the phone problem, but the default video player's decoding problem. Install Mobo Player or MX Player and change between software decoding and hardware decoding to see if that helps.
I don't know what to say about the CPU, probably some marketing trick by whoever manufactured the phone. Its also possible the app you are using is incorrect

That's entirely possible, but it has a WVGA screen (800x480) so it should play some pretty high quality content.

I'm heavily into movies and these this don't ecept flash. I run mp4 format and works very well. You can knock your bit rate down to help. I prefer to use Total Video Converter. And Kasend, Meridian, or mplayer on andriod. good luck.
