EVO 3D stuc at boot loop with acces to bootloader - solution for newbies - HTC EVO 3D

Hello first let me introduce myself, my problem and a solotion.
My name is Mate and my HTC Evo 3d got stuck in a bootloop with acces only to bootloader.
I know a lot of people had this problem and the solution is really simple yet can be confusing for most of new members of the XDA community.
So let's start :
Problem:
Evo 3d stuck in boot loop with only bootloader available. Most of the times faulty custom rom or custom recovery is source of this. Don't panic (yet
Solution and the things I've tried reading this forums:
Some people recommend locking back your bootloader and flashing back to RUU for your device over fastboot command ( haven't worked for me) still got the HTC logo loop thing.
I have tried flashing lots of custom recoveries. The one that started problems was the TWRP 2.4.4.0 touch recovery which has brilliant design but isn't working for me.
I tried flashing 4ext and it haven't worked I tried TWRP again and it haven't worked.
What worked was recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-shooteru.img which I downloaded from CWM official site.
To flash a new recovery simple put your mode in bootloader fastboot usb mode and flash it with cmd.
In command prompt enter this code: fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Important information: recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-shooteru.img doesn't charge your phone in recovery mode so please charge your phone in case it doesn't work and you want to switch to another recovery.
I hope this post will help people to fix their bootloop errors. I'll edit this post later to make it more readable I'm writing this now fast just because i found the solution and want to share it with community.
Good luck

Proceed with caution when using CWM recovery on the Evo 3D. Not only does USB charging not work, earlier versions of CWM are known to brick the phone if you try to format the SD card. Koush, the developer, may have that fixed in the latest release but it seems that in general CWM isn't tested as well on the Evo 3D as it is on other devices.
There are known issues with recent TWRP releases that were supposed to be fixed in the version you were using, but IMO 4EXT is the most reliable of all the recoveries available for the Evo 3D.

I suspect that the custom recovery wasn't the real cause of your problem and it could have been resolved using 4EXT or TWRP. Yes I'm aware of CWM problems. The thing is each tiem i flashed 4ext or TWRP recovery I got stuck again in bootloop. The problem started when I wanted to flash yoda's custom rom with TWRP. I flashed it before with CWM, 4ext without any problem.
The thing is only cwm managed to boot back into recovery from bootloader all others failed. I'll go back to 4ext agains since im not a fan of cwm because they haven't implemented usb charging on evo 3d. If someone found other custom recovery that worked please post it here

Actually I'm on GSM version of the phone but I don't see reason not working for you if you use recovery for cdma version.
So what have I done in order: First I locked bootloader tried RUU and it haven't worked for me it might for you. I have tried multiple combinations of buttons. Sometimes i would get to recovery screen but it would last only for split second than i was again in a boot loop. After that I have unlocked my bootloader with HTC dev site. Flashed Cwm and it worked. If you have problems with charging your phone in bootloader there is a trick with .bat file that you insert into sdk/platform-tools folder and you run it there. It restarts your phone every 6 seconds so your phone can charge for few seconds without screen taking energy. But lets hope you don't get to that part
Im crossing fingers for you

Hi to all I have tried to root using the HTC boot unlocker with no success. I was using the step by step instructions from HTC evo hacks. I got to the step at the command prompt where I put in the unlock code and I got this : C:\rootevo3dnew>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

See the Guide/flashing Notes in my signature. You need to rerun the currently installed "FULL" Ruu or the the Latest RUU, then the unlock will work.
I did the HTCDev and unlocked it went to thread on downgrade from 1.5 hboot to 1.4 tried that and it did not work. I went to try the wire trick and this is what I get when I try to use the controlbear. the phone connects and goes through process but says the following...
======== ControlBear 0.6 beta for JuopunutBear S-OFF ==========
Starting up......
Connecting to device...
Searching device.....
Found device.....but device has no root!!
Press ENTER to exit.....
Any help would be helpful I have tried superuser but wont install, tried rootevo3dnew, temproot sensation Ect. everything says I need to be rooted.
I am running stock rom that shipped with phone and yes I did updates. I am Sprint CDMA 2.17 rom shipped, 1.5 Hboot. I have flashed roms and modded before but dont consider myself to be advanced. I have done flashing and installing roms with my old HTC Touch pro2 but alot easier on touch pro2 LOL... Please point me in the correct place I have beeen all over from this thread to that one and back and forth and yes I have search threads and I have tried them but still come back to the one with wire trick.. I am 1.5 with S-ON

Ok, let's make sure we know where you are at to start with. When you use the vol and power button to boot to fastboot, does the phone show "unlocked". If not, I think you need to do the htc method again. I have not kept up recently, but I am not sure there is any method other than the HTC method that works every time for 1.5. I have used the HTC method on two phones without a problem, so that is the method I use.
Once you get that far, I used adb to push or flash the twrp image into the recovery section of the phone. Then you should be able to flash superuser via the install menu of twrp. There are threads that have detailed explanations on how this is done.
Yea, I had a bit of a learning curve from my TP2 also, but love this phone!

In my post Ive included a flashable SuperSU zip. What youll need to do is boot to recovery and install this zip. Then reboot. You should have superuser access then.
Still learning this forum so excuse any errors I make. I've spent the last 10 hours trying to fix the mess I created on my wife's Evo 3d. I was able to root my phone and it was relatively easy so I tackled hers as well and have gotten a bootloop I cannot figure out, 10 hours later. I'm on hboot 1.5. I unlocked the phone (using a pretty reliable video), loaded 4EXT Recovery then tried to load roms. Everything worked fine until the rom-loading portion. Since then, the phone loops, but once or twice it made it all the way to the main screen and before I could slide the ring, a read error message appeared next to the bars of service then the phone just completely reboots. Right now, the only thing I can get into is the bootloader and the clockworkmod v4.0.1.4, somehow I lost my 4EXT Recovery. I'm stuck and in dire straights as my wife is going out of town and will KILL me if I don't fix her phone. Please help! BTW, somehow I managed to NOT back anything up (stupidity on my part). Will I be able to get this thing back to stock at least or is it now a paperweight?

Your not bricked by any means. And Im going to guess you tried to boot an ICS rom.. dont. They dont work with hboot 1.5. If you really want to go back to stock run the 2.17 RUU and youll be back to where you started. Another option is to download a GB rom and flash that. Not ICS. If your able to get to the bootloader than you can still load up 4ext recovery so you can flash the GB rom.
Edit: some hboot 1.5 users are lucky and can flash them if they used the correct VM firmware but majority of users have problems.

Thanks, I just tried flashing a rom that has taken it back to stock but I'm still in the bootloop. Should I stop flashing and simply locate the RUU?
22410,
It sounds like the kernel did not flash correctly with 4ext Recovery (next time, make sure u indicat S-on in its settings). I'm not sure if you were just stock 2.17 rooted or not, but use 7zip on your pc to open & extract/copy out the "boot.img" file from the rom, zip, etc you were using and copy it to your fastboot pc folder. Still have the Cwm 4.0.1.4 recovery.IMG file there too right (or the 4ext recovery.img file)? Ok...
- put phone in fastboot usb mode
From PC's fastboot command prompt type:
- " fastboot flash boot boot.img "
(this will reflash the kernel/boot image extracted from a rom)
If your recovery is screwed up:
- " fastboot flash recovery YourRecoveryFilename.img "
(ie: cwm_4.0.1.4_recovery.img or recovery.img, etc as listed in fastboot folder, to reflash a recovery to your phone).
With S-on, to properly enter a recovery for flashing ANYTHING you must:
- " fastboot boot YourRecoveryFilename.img "
(doesn't apply if using 4ext's Smartflash or TWRP's Dumlock settings. But you must have a bootable android OS/kernel first, once the flash is screwed it won't work).
If u have a Sprint CDMA EVO3D/HTC Unlocked & S-on (not Jbear s-Off), then the guide in my signature has more info.
Edit: as NIN said you will likely have problems flashing ICS roms with S-on (hboot version doesn't matter). If u are still unlocked & have a working recovery u can flash any gb Rom successfully after wiping system, data, & cache (or run superwipe zip). Meanrom GB v4.5 recommended.

[Q] Unable to boot into recovery

Ok... So a couple of days ago, I was having bootloop issues on Ineffabilis 1.3 using the Anthrax kernel. After doing a battery pull, I booted into the bootloader and then to recovery and found that my roommate, while playing with my phone, had flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery, I suppose through the Rom Manager app.
I figured it would be ok to do a full wipe and re-flash the rom since flashing the stock kernel didn't stop the bootlooping and I would just flash AmonRa back when I was done to do a backup.
Well, after doing a factory reset from CWM and getting errors thereafter trying to flash the superwipe and Ineffabilis, I rebooted the phone and skipped through the setup to get to the restart menu to get into the bootloader again to flash AmonRa. I was able to flash it, but now every time I try to get into the recovery whether from the restart menu, ADB, or through the fastboot menu, it automatically restarts the phone as soon as the recovery is loaded and goes back to the OS.
Has anyone experienced this and is there any way to fix it to get back into it?
Sounds like you have a ph image on your sd card. Just delete it and you should be fine
sent from ics land
I've long since removed all PH files from my phone, internal and external sdcard included, and even if there were that's never stopped my from booting directly into recovery from the restart menu or through ADB.
I've even gone as far as removing the external sdcard with the same result. It just boots into recovery and as soon as it loads for that split second, it automatically reboots to the HTC screen and back to Android.
I still have root and my phone isn't bricked. I just can't flash any roms or kernels in the future when we get our official ics update. WTB my EVO 3D's hboot 1.4 back...

what happens when you try to go to recovery...
i would just reflash a recoveyr in fastboot. cant hurt.
What it does is as soon as it boots to recovery, I see it load the recovery and then as soon as it loads, it's as if the phone automatically selects the reboot option and goes back through the normal boot no matter which method I use to boot into recovery.
I've done the fastboot method which flashed successfully, tried to re-flash clockwork using rom manager, scott's tool, adb & fastboot, also used scott's flash tool which was also successful and it just seems as if recovery mode is borked somehow and using these methods to go back to AmonRa produce the same result. I'm usually good at figuring these things out myself since I've been rooting and flashing since my first Sprint HTC Hero, EVO 4G, 3D, Epic 4G/Touch and I've never had anything like this happen before. Completely stumped .
Have done a search and haven't found anyone with the same issue so I have nothing prior to go off of. The phone works fine for now so I'm in no hurry since I still have root and thankfully Titanium Backup for my apps. Not sure what to try next at this point.

From hboot, choose factory reset and see if it boots you into recovery. I had a similar issue after running the new RUU, once I chose that it booted into custom recovery and i was able to reboot and then afterwards had no trouble accessing recovery.

Bump... I'm stuck with this issue...
Hi,
Spent the last two days trying everything I could think of to get a custom recovery loaded on my rezound with no luck. Have searched everywhere and short of trying to hex edit some code nothing has worked.
I was on a custom ICS rom and applied the 4.03.605.2 RUU (hboot 2.27). Was S-ON with unlocked bootloader. I locked the bootloader, installed RUU successfully, unlocked the bootloader with my token. I tried flashing amon-ra, CWM, TWRP many versions of each by fastboot and hboot (PH98IMG). The custom recovery is successfully written in each case, but i can't successfully boot into the recovery partition either from fastboot or hboot menu option. I can write the recovery.img file from the RUU zip, and all is good. Ultimately, I am just trying to install a custom ROM/root my device.
I tried the above advice about performing a factory reset. No Dice. So for now, I am stuck in Verizon bloatware land, and very unhappy about it.
Suggestions welcome. Thanks everyone.

Hook up to PC. the phone can actually adb when turned off. or make sure ROM is booted with ADB turned on. It should connect to adb. Does it? Then your command would be "adb reboot recovery" after you have flashed a custom recovery. So what does it do when you try to enter recovery?
Thanks. Did try that, but not with phone off. I'll try both for good measure and let you know. Thank you fly...

Hi Fly,
I was unable to get adb to see the phone when it was off with either a custom recovery or the stock recovery. When I rebooted to recovery from adb with a custom recovery installed, it attempts to boot to the recovery partition but fails and boots back to the OS (this is true when using adb, fastboot, and hboot to boot to recovery). When i reinstalled the stock recovery, it successfully boots to recovery using all methods.
i have tried other custom recovery versions, TWRP (preferred), AMON-RA, CWM Recovery...
annoyed.
Thanks Fly. Any other ideas?

I'm out of ideas. Since your s-on you can't go down to the OTA RUU and try there. Maybe someone else can spread some light.
Well one more idea. Boot your phone into Fastboot. Plug into computer and download a custom recovery to your computer. The command to use is "fastboot boot recovery.img"
If that does work then download http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip and flash it inside of recovery. That will give you root inside your stock rom at least.

Hi Fly,
Nothing doing. Can't flash the attached in stock recovery, can't boot into any recoveries with stock flashed or with custom recovery flashed. Seems there must be some new security built into the new RUU? I did note one thing. When I first flash the RUU the hboot banner says relocked (as i have to relock to install an RUU). However, as soon as I flash anything to the recovery partition it adds a new white on black banner that says tampered. Now, i have seen that before when I s-off'd my rezound previously (returned to verizon for audio problems). I never did s-off this particular phone. I don't recall my first phone flagging a new recovery or this phone flagging a new recovery on the old firmware (i could be wrong though as i don't spend a lot of time in hboot).
Still hoping to put a custom recovery on this. Any other way to load a custom rom? i really want to run Neo's AOKP, as I had that on here before I RUU'd. In fact, i got into this position because I was going to s-off the phone, but I had a custom rom. I started looking for RUU's to restore to stock because controlbear wouldn't work with custom rom. Instead of installing an early ICS again, i opted to install the latest RUU.
I searched the forums high and low and wasn't really able to find anyone with this problem. I wonder if there is something wrong with the RUU? I checked the MD5sum and it matched. When flashing recovery i checked the mainver too, so it isn't that... I'm stumped.
This phone wasn't real popular and is gettting old now (man, the lifecycle on phones suck, I had my N1 through many roms and AOSP releases! These new phones are gone in 6 months, a year tops). I doubt anyone is going to trouble themselves to crack a new HBOOT on this phone (this is 2.27).
Only other things i can think (and I haven't tried yet) is trying zergRushing it for temp root to at least remove/freeze the bloat like I did with this phone when I first got it. Or if I can just get a rom installed without a custom recovery I don't flash as often as I used to and figure an upgrade isn't long off. Or if i could downgrade the hboot or install jb hboot...
Would love it if someone had something new to try.
Thanks so much again Fly and happy holidays.
Success! (but how?)
Ok Fly,
I don't get it... not at all. I tried, just for the hell of it, a little more tonight and my phone was happy to flashboot boot TWRP 2.2.2.1 SPECIFICALLY. I was unable to get other versions working or other custom recoveries. I have no IDEA why. I can only think that the recovery partition is too small for some recovery.imgs? but 2.2.2.1 is actually bigger than 2.3.3.0 that you compiled for the rezound. Anyway, i have ROOT! now, my first step before I dork with anything is to S-Off this bad boy so i can move around a little more. I will probably still leave the locked bootloader after that, just to keep me from n00bing up. Haven't tried flashing the twrp recovery yet, don't want to goof up my S-off chances or not give you a chance to ask a question.
If you want some forensics to help others out, please let me know. I am gonna leave this phone alone for a day in case you have questions. There HAS to be some lesson in here. Totally random to me. (last thought) i was running 2.2.2.1 before I ran the RUU... wonder if that has something to do with it?
Thanks again Fly.

Crazy how things work like this. But the recovery partition shouldn't be to small to flash a custom recovery. Good luck. Just sounds like one of those rare things that happens.

[Q] Which Stock RUU/ROM

Hi folks,
I have a HTC Evo 3D from the UK bought sim free, rooted it with s-on and tried to install a rom with 4ext, got stuck in bootloop, tried clearing cache but it never worked, tried a few different roms (not the best idea) and failed loads, the back up I used successfully before stopped working and in a mad attempt to get anything working I managed to stop 4ext as the recovery and its now CWM Recovery v4.0.1.4. It doesnt boot loop it just stays on the HTC screen without doing anything else.
Is there anything I can do?
I have tried the shipped RRUs but run into an error each time, probably since I am just guessing at which I am supposed to be using, is there a way to figure it out? Or a rom/cwm way or a way of getting another backup/restore file?
Any help is very much appreciated, I shouldnt have been allowed the USB cable! lol
Thanks

4ext recovery is the choice for s-on users so using cwm is a bad idea. You maybe experiencing bootloops on 4ext because you may have not had smartflash enabled. S-on users cannot flash kernels through normal means through recovery like s-off users can. With smartflash this is possible. So my suggestion is to reflash 4ext through fastboot and enable it if you havn't done so and do a full wipe of your phone and reflash your rom and see if that work. As for the ruu's. You have to have your bootloader relocked to flash them. You can flash them through bootloader if they were signed by htc but if not, you will have to run the ruu exe on your pc which still ofcourse needs the bootloader to be relocked.

Did you type the command with the exact name of your recovery file in your folder? Also do you have HTC sync installed? If so uninstall it. It will interfere with fastboot.

Dont have HTC sync. I used the exact name, even using the TAB button to complete the filename
Thanks
Are you sure your bootloader is completely unlocked? Sometimes when you apply the unlock bin code the unlock screen doesn't show up with Ics. What kind of output do you get when you type the fastboot flash recovery command? There might be a clue. Well in any event I'm going to trouble shoot your problem. If you could copy and paste the input and output of your command that will help alot.
---------- Post added at 11:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:15 PM ----------
Edit: let's try to get your phone back on stock and unlocking your bootloader instead. I read your post about how your having trouble flashing ruu. The first question is, is your phone branded or unbranded? Depending on either you will have to find an ruu exe file based on the region and carrier if branded. Just google it up. Next your phone will have to be in relocked state if your bootloader says unlocked. Type fastboot oem lock to relock it. Now you can run the file. Remember you must have the right on or it won't take. Remember after you unlock it again it will erase all your user data. Let me know if you succeed or not and then we can proceed from there. Oh yeah here's a link you might want to read up on about the whole ruu thing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655832
Pretty sure its fully unlocked, I was able to run superSU, install 4ext and busybox etc.
I have got 4ext working again, the problem appears that the two recovery.img files I had tried were not the correct version for my phone, I've got the right one now and can boot into 4ext through the recovery option.
Okay, now try to flash a sense Rom like cool sense and let me know if it boots for you

Plug up to the computer and put it in fastboot usb, Download you a recovery and rename it to recovery put it in a directory with fastboot and open a command prompt
type "fastboot flash recovery recovery recovery.img"
That should fix you up.
The fastboot recovery flash will work if you can do it properly. You could also drop the recovery.img into a zip file, call it PG86IMG.zip and toss it on the root of the sdcard, then flash it via hboot, you'd need a SD card reader or another device to copy the zip image there, but same outcome.

HTC EVO 3D - Long Story - Trying to get back to GB with issues (Details in thread)

Hey all,
I have this HTC EVO 3D that just, refuses to co-operate with me.
Story goes -
Got it on ICS and everything was working fine on it. I looked for updates available and it found a 28MB update that I installed and once the phone rebooted with the update, the camera fails to start and the touch screen just starts going crazy and opening everything, whereas before it fine.
So, I attempted to try and get it back to Gingerbread.
And googled and googled and googled.
Reason why I have opened a new thread is cause it's sort of everything going weird with it.
Of course, trying RUU files and trying to flash RUU in zip failed so on so forth.
I had unlocked the Bootloader and S-ON is on at this point. Also had CWM recovery installed and was able to boot into that.
With this in place, I read up on the wire trick and thought, yeah it seems a bit hard, I'll take it to a phone repair shop, where they had the phone for 2 weeks and told me that it was S-OFF and back to stock.
Since they had it and I got it back, it's now stuck in a boot loop and I can not get into any recovery etc (With the original SD Card in it). Can get to Bootloader and fastboot though.
Spent the last 3 hours with about 20 tabs in Chrome opened on how to exactly go from here and I am stuck.
Got a Linux Laptop here and tried to ControlBear and it comes up with ADB and Fastboot not found (Directory points to it being in tmp..no idea)
TL;DR
HTC Evo 3D (Australian Variant, was running ICS Telstra OEM)
Unlocked Bootloader
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
eMMC-boot
Radio - 11.25.3504.16 M
Boot Loops, No Recovery, Fastboot commands work on windows.
So just wondering, where do I go from here. I don't know if the device is completely bricked now or if it can be saved.
(I tried a number of zip files on the SD Card (PG86IMG.zip) and nothing due to having S-ON.
Hoping someone can provide a procedure or point me in the right direction.
As reference, I used this thread mostly before it was taken to the Repair Shop and got stuffed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Hello my friend, the reason you can't load the pg86img is because you have unlocked bootloader. The fastboot commands could help us a lot, did you follow the controlbear instructions in the correct order? I think there is a way through windows with exe files I don't remember well because I did S-OFF 3years+ before. If you want we can try together some time. If you want for start we can flash 4ext recovery and a custom rom so your phone can boot.

Hi there, I didn't know with having the bootloader unlocked that it would cause any issues, but there you go!
Yeah, if there's a guide to flashing the 4EXT Recovery and a custom rom that would be great!
I have a fair idea of how to do it, but don't want to try anything without having someone of greater knowledge point me in the right direction
Thanks!
Just an update, I did come across a thread to flash 4EXT Recovery onto my Evo 3D.
Put Recovery.img into my platform-tools folder, used the fastboot command, it said sending and OK.
Selected recovery and still boot loops. No idea where to go from here now

Hey there,
That's OK, I don't mind the wait, it's all good!
I can boot into Fastboot, but when I choose recovery/factory reset etc, it shows the HTC Logo and then goes into a bootloop.
As for the ROM, I want to get the original GB ROM for it because when I updated it to the latest ICS that's when the camera and touch started to get weird, whereas beforehand it was fine.
So thinking, if I go back down to GB Stock, that it should be all fine again, but I am not too sure on that one.
Thanks!

Well, we have to downgrade the hboot version first. Did you do the wire trick procedure right? You can download a pg86img and flash it first to fix the bootloops. First lock the bootloader. When you finish this report here. I have to sleep it's late here and I work early. I'll send you tomorrow. See you.

Ok, the technician I took the phone to supposedly did the wire trick for S-OFF, but, it's still S-ON.
I have downloaded a lot of stock PG86IMG files before posting on here and none work, they scan when in bootloader and then nothing after that.
But that would be because I haven't locked the bootloader. So in saying this, I lock the bootloader following steps on many forum posts on here, then flash a .zip file that's correct and then it should all work?
I'll wait for your response, thanks!

Hey, so I tried a P86IMG.zip from this thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274635
I couldn't find another one and with that I get an error "Main Version Fail" or "Main Version Check Fail".
I then tried RUU and RUU in zip format.
RUU comes back with wrong bootloader error. (I couldn't find an RUU that matched my radio version so I went with the nearest one)
RUU Zip comes back through fastboot with "remote 43 main version check fail"
Also I tried to do the Wire Trick and got stuck at the "ADB and Fastboot not found" even though the files are there and the phone is connected.
So still a little bit...stuck :\
Also relocked bootloader it just says relocked now.
If you need any other additional info I can send screenshots of what it's at.
Thanks!

So update -
DK sent me the windows version of ControlBear via PM - thank you.
Have an unlocked bootloader.
I tried ControlBear, and because I can not boot into the OS, I start it at Fastboot USB, it reboots, then says "Connecting to Device", then "Testing ADB connection" then "Press Enter To Exit" and that's it, can't do anything else from there, and it gets stuck in the boot loop that it still has.
Tried again to google for methods for HBOOT 1.53, and am trying some of those methods, but it's not looking good at all.
I haven't even got to the stage where it asks me to do any sort of wire trick.
Also my battery in the EVO 3D has died so am using a battery out of a HTC MyTouch 4G with help from electrical tape :\
So now, any suggestions? I am trying to flash another RUU that's stock for my Radio (Well, it's close enough - RUUs are both 11.25.3504.06, mine is 11.25.3504.16)
EDIT: Tried all RUUs with relocked bootloader and comes back with bootloader error (ERROR 140). So, no idea.
Also it's scanning for PG86DIAG.img files on the SD Card - that's not normal is it.
Do you think we should give up on it, it's probably hard bricked and dead now
I think it's literally hard bricked and no way to bring it back from the dead.
As per my original post, all the details for the phone are there. And it sucks that I can't find a correct RUU for my phone (As it was Telstra AU - latest update of ICS)
AHH I don't know.

First of all you should be unlocked now with 1.53 hboot. Download from here the latest 4ext recovery (4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1.0.0.6_RC3)
It's in my mega account don't worry about malicious software I downloaded it 5 minutes before doing this post. If you don't have unlocked your bootloader do it with the tokens HTC sent you in your email. Flash this recovery from fastboot (fastboot flash recovery "recoveryname".img). After that remove the battery and re-enter fastboot mode (Vol down+power button) and choose recovery. If you manage to boot into recovery from there tell me to send you a link for a rom to flash. I don't believe its a hard brick.

And if it still doesn't let me send you a boot.img in some minutes to try flashing it.
EDIT: And something last, you can still do the controlbear trick while not in OS, its easy if you wanna try let me know.

Hey all,
I have this HTC EVO 3D that just, refuses to co-operate with me.
