Root & S-Off 2.04 OTA Thread - HTC Droid DNA

Hey guys, I know there are multiple threads that ask questions about this, but I thought it would good to make a thread where we can keep all questions, info and progress in one place.
With that being said, if any of the devs that are working on this can check in once and a while with progress updates, that would be great.
To my knowledge, as of now they have multiple root exploits but no way of making it worthwhile yet.
Any other info, questions or progress updates, just fire away!

Thanks for this.
Obviously, donations would be in order, from me anyways, for the one who gets us unlocked bootloader. Please help us, I knew this was locked when I traded, but didn't know it was so unlikely to be unlocked.
This would be the FIRST phone in 6 years to not be rooted, and I've had a lot of phones.
Please help....

Thank you. I'm tired of all these stupid ass questions in development.

Yup, its needed badly. Seems like this phone is getting popular day by day. We need dedicated Q&A section. I am surprised we dont have it for this phone yet. Its been good 1+ month since launch.

Yes, I am completely with this, some kind of mod attention in the Photon forums would be much appreciated!

What if this thread were reported? Would that get their attention, or would it be closed? Just a thought as I'm sure the mods don't read every thread.

Do we have a mod for the Photon section? If not, what does it take to get one?
+1
I tried to address these issues with main XDA mods last week with no luck. It seems as though they don't care about us. Really tired of the way XDA runs things anymore which is why a lot of devs started their own forums.
Last I looked there was not a dedicated moderator for the Photon but it is obviously being watched.
Bump. More questions in development ...

Trust me people will still post questions in the dev section. I just came from the EVO 3D and every other day someone has to post a noob question in development.

Guess I took the Nexus One section for granted. That crap didn't happen there.

I'm an Epic owner, considering a Photon. I can tell you it's a major problem over there too. Many ROM threads have become almost totally useless because of the same 4 or 5 questions being repeated over and over hundreds of times by people who don't do any research or read anything prior to posting. An endless chain of "do what now??"

Ya, maybe a bad question from the lack of response. The amaze forum is an odd one for sure. Was just wondering. I saw his threads are closed.

I'm wondering the same thing man.
If you read through his threads it is discussed briefly.

If you want to use his roms you'll have to go to his site....idk if I can post the link.

Most of the threads are one page long now. I gather from the one or two posts something went down between him and xda.

Yeah I always figured the best answer is... A straight answer
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using Tapatalk
Some people are edgy about it because there is a cloud of uncertainty about whether you can discuss it or post the link to his forum without getting warned by a moderator. I'm on both forums and regardless of which one you're on, it's been agreed by all that it's for the best to leave the matter alone. Read through his post history here if you want to try piecing together the puzzle yourself.

I dont see anyone being *****y? i gave a straight answer, which is its NONE of our business. if you dont see him posting roms etc, assume hes not around. besides, its been all throughout the entire xda forum about his situation for weeks. if youre interested enough, the info is out there
Geez people. The major developer for the amaze packs up, yanks all his roms and pulls his threads and leaves and everyone is supposed to just pretend nothing happened? You can claim it's none of our business all you want but people certainly have the right to be curious and ask questions. Want to end all the questions and speculation? Then don't tell people to dredge the forum for clues. Deal with the question and put it to bed.
I agree and the users are the reason why these forums are alive and working so in a way we are the board members lolllll jk but ink why pda is having all these problems lately i guess a cleansing is what this site needs to be back at the top again

I googled xboarder56 and right there on the first page you can find where he is. Deal with the question and search yourself. 1st rule of xda in case you couldn't find that also
Their not gone. Google the name of the ROM u want and xboarder56 and I'm sure u will find it. The bottom line is mrmako is right. If you don't know, then it didn't concern you and was none of your biz to begin with. His work is still obtainable. XDA is not only site to find hacks and roms etc. Let's just leave it at that and if you can't find his ROMs then go back to stock. It's not xboarders responsibility to service anybody, nor is it any devs responsibility. They create work that they decide to share with us. That's where it ends. They don't even have to share. So use what you can find. Google usually has the answers.
I miss Binary. He would have had this thread closed and locked already for it is completely unproductive. Since Binary retired from xda this forum has been mad with duplicate threads, noob issues, and a lawless feel. Where is Whiskey to shut this down?
PS just because people have the right to be curious and ask doesn't mean people have the right to know. So exercise your right to be curious and keep wondering. But its not anybody's responsibility to inform the masses of anything. Anything else that you can't find is drama unrelated to development, and if you want a soap opera, you should watch USA Network, they know drama.

I knew where X had gone before he pulled out of XDA. It was no secret. That wasn't my point. I've been a member here for almost 2 years. Don't be so condescending.

This is the General section where questions are supposed to be asked and answered. Any thread that answers questions that many members have is productive. The only reason THIS thread is unproductive is the refusal to answer a question which is on MANY members' minds.

If that's what's on peoples minds, then they should get a new life. I know most of the story and personally its not that entertaining nor is it any of our business. If people want to know, then they can do the digging and be nosey on their own. It's nobodys place to restir a pot not worth stirring. It's counterproductive. Since you're such a tenured vet, you of all people should no better. Why does it matter where he is? If his work can be found elsewhere, what is the point of this thread. Threads like this are what started his move to begin with. Noobish ass questions with the answers right in front of peoples faces. Again, Law and Order is a personal favorite of mine, Criminal Intent and SVU.. if you want good drama, I recommended people start there
Not to mention this thread is 2 pages long, yet you are 1 out of 4 people who have showed interest in wondering where X is. The rest of the comments, the people already know or don't care. 4 people maybe consists on a lot to you, but I hardly would say the same

but this IS our point bro. the op didnt post a thread asking where x was or where he could find his work, he asked "what happened" as to imply "why" x was gone and not really IF he was gone. its kind of like when people get flamed for not searching first for answers to questions like "guys, how do i flash a rom?" or "amaze or s2?", except this is deeper and shouldnt be a topic to clog up our forum. the man left, hes not coming back, no need to continue to ask why or where he went.
on a side note marley, i DO understand your point, i just dont agree with it. i guess this is what happens when people have a $600 phone with little to no dev community LOL. lets just move forward and pray we get some new talent in here!

Maybe we can reach other devs from other phones, like CoreDroid, who are able to successfully port their work to our device. Like what NRGZ did. I think the main reasons for little to no development are: a) amaze is a US phone and not a world phone; and b) s=on. So if we can get this device in other devs hands, it may help. Like the Revolutionary donation we had going. Or I guess we can be happy with what we have and wait for nrgz 3.5 and xboarders ics.

I know it's not your problem but....

I have recently pre ordered a S3 for Verizon and we have come to find out that Verizon themselves have locked the handsets bootloader. This is a huge shame and is downright sinister.
There are quite a few people working on cracking the bootloader but as of now we have not gotten very far. If ANY of the talented minds that make up the International S3 forums would be willing to help the cause, it would be greatly appreciated.
I will post links as soon as I can to threads as I am using the xda app on my phone. But for now if you would like to help, go to the Verizon galaxy s3 development forum and check out all of the bootloader threads.
There is also a petition being signed to make Verizon unlock the bootloader and free out device.
(will post link soon to petition, it's in the general sub forum for the time being tho)

[Q] Root for 2.04?

Will we ever have root for the Droid DNA? If there ever is a way can you please link it to this thread.
If you even opened up one post regarding this topic you would know that answer. And there are at least 5. Triple that many people asking the same question. Please search the forum

Why don't you take the time to read through the forums, it's been asked and answered multiple times. And you might learn something about your phone too.
re
theres a $500 bounty on rooting 2.04
Nothing yet.
ill be picking up a galaxy s4 if it comes before root !
yea just read the forums...but yea you can also pay 45$ to get JTAG - s-off, but no root methods other than that

I'm sorry you feel that way. It's possible you've posted a question that noone has an answer to. It's also possible that you've posted a question that has been beat to death, as in answered numerous times. There are other possibilities, but you get my point I hope.
Some questions get answered rather quickly and others don't. That's the way it goes. And just for an example, I get ignored too. I've forwarded an application for someone that's applying for RC title. In most cases those get answered rather quickly. I made my request a week ago, no response, but others who have made nominations after me have had their nominations dealt with. So you see, this isn't happening to just you. Patience
I get the feeling it's because you ask things that we've answered countless times. Maybe you should watch this, it's extremely comprehensive and helps younger users.

Well I took the liberty into looking at what questions this guy asked. From what I've found, your questions were answered in the Original Post. you basically asked "are you sure i can root my phone using this method" in a thread that has a tutorial to rooting all the l9 varients. Why would you ask such a thing?
Then you ask "do i install this recovery for a locked bootloader" and you have a LINK to the thread that says LOCKED BL recovery......
also you posted these "questions" like a couple days ago, not even a week. People have family and friends. staying on XDA answering questions is not what they do for a living.
Whenever I have a question I use the search to see if it's been asked before.
