I am currently using the lmt pie control and like it but will give swapps and glovebox a try.
Edit: OK so I did a bit of looking and gotta say I never liked the way the unity toolbar looked in Ubuntu and sidebar n glovebox are just that. I personally really like lmt. The only issue I have with it is you can't set a shortcut for all apps.

Looks like we have another newcomer to the party, but its the same type of sidebar type multitasker called Side Panel(Beta)

What do you like about LMT?

I use Glovebox, I like it but I find that I always forget to use it, unless I pull the tab out by accident

I like pie because of all the options plus you can keep your screen free and clear and also can pull it up at anytime, no matter what apps you have going. The only thing I don't like about it is I can't find a way to link my apps menu to it other than that its awesome. You can have up to 10 slots and have a secondary function for each slot. Also you can change the colors to match whatever theme you are using.

Using glovebox and I love it! I actually completely removed my dock from my home screen because its so awesome. The purpose of the dock is for quick access to commonly used apps but you still need to go back to the home screen to get there. With glovebox you can get there with one less step and only one gesture instead of two actions in the case of side bar (open the bar then select). The best part is it works while in any app.
I've tried sidebar and swapps. I didn't like the look of swapps.
I have not tried LMT but with PIE coming to CM I think I'm going to skip it,

good find.. ty
I am using this. Works great. Probably a 3 star app. What i did was i put all the apps in one folder so they didnt go across all my screens, then i put this app's short cut on my dock bar. Works great. Its just very none aesthetically pleasing. Could use some more customization, maybe some sorting or something like that.

You can customize it if you use the left click button at least somewhat.
This app works great. Perfect for MIUI

I tried MIUI last night, I also installed this, but what I just ended up doing was removing this and put everything i didnt want on my homescreens in one folder and put that folder as the middle dock icon, and it basically works just like an app drawer, u can change the sorting to numerous options including by usage, which i thought was really cool.. the folder also has a neat open and close animation when u click it (when it is in the dock anyway). I always end up going back to some stock derived rom though, I just feel like I am losing features going to cyanogen or MIUI

If you hide apps in the MIUI settings and then use the altdrawer as an app drawer were you able to put shortcuts to the home screens? I'm not able to....

Switch instantly between two launchers [Requires JKay Deluxe Mod]

Maybe this has been pointed out before, but it's a neat trick I stumbled on.
Here's a useful way to switch instantly between two Launchers using JKay Deluxe Mod...
- Set your standard home button action to Launcher #1 (I use TW)
- In JKay Deluxe Mod settings, enable home double-click and point that to Launcher #2 (I use Go Launcher here)
This way you can toggle instantly back and forward between 2 completely different launchers simply by one or two taps of the home button, feels pretty slick.
JKay is already built into the awesome Saurom, or you can look at the JKay Deluxe Mod thread.
Just sayin'
There's also an app called Home Switcher in the market that works. I have like 4 launchers I switch from depending on how I want to theme
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Yep Home Switcher is great, just thought this was a nice alternative that:
a) Works from a hardware button
b) Is free
Last I checked home switcher was free also

Cool idea, I knew about the double tap home button but hadn't thought to use it in this way. +1
Not trying to be rude or anything, just wondering. Why would you need more than one launcher? I am very intrigued...

You can set up each launcher completely differently.for example I use touch wiz for all of the heavy widgets and real time info as it's hardware accelerated. I have go launcher set up for higher customization with themes and icon packs for my own feel, I don't bother with widgets on go launcher as it's so laggy moving between screens.

This is a pretty smart idea Griffindodd.
I did use Home Switcher, but this is faster and more convenient.
Thanks!
Cool idea. This is how I was able to get QuickDesk Pro to work properly without having to set it as the Default launcher multiple times a day. Check out QDP. Super useful as you can invoke it any time even when in a different app. You can add shortcuts and widgets to it. Pretty handy to have your audio player and or volume widget in QDP and change music or volume without leaving what you are in, say like a game. Only thing that sucks though is I just learned the dev is no longer supporting it.

multitask app

is there any good multitasking app? i like a swipe gesture (like zephyr from iphone) rather than long press home and also should have app killing capabilities, also what app are ok to kill from the running list?
Do not use a task killer.

+1 billion.
Download Nova launcher and then you can put an icon on your homescreen that let's you get into the multitasking menu with one press.
It will work with TW too.

ive read the description of nova launcher but couldnt find anythinga bout multi tasking. can you explain a bit more?
Not only nova you can have it in apex too, in fact you can simply bring the recent apps menu by making a swipe gesture on home screen
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
I'm not sure if it works on the gs3, but I use an amazing app on my transformer prime called gesture control.
It basically allows you to define actions by using gestures.
You can define two, three, and four finger gestures.
It really is great. Needs root though.
So you can define a gesture for bringing up the multitasking menu and it works throughout the whole system anywhere.
You don't have to be on the launcher homescreen .
Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo
tried apex launcher but couldnt get it to work when im inside an app. ill try gesture control. anyone else have any suggestion for me
anyone can give me suggestion on a great gesture app that can open the recent app from anywhere?
Wave launcher is also cool multitasker. Quite different though.
Also looking for this, something like zephyr for IOS that works inside apps. It allows to close an app just sweeping from bottom to top.

i tried the app and it worked great. Can I ask what the risk of enabling usb debugging is? Im kinda paranoid of what it does, also can you suggest to me what good gesture is best to bring up the recent app list?
What does usb debugging do?
I don't understand why you don't just want to hold home? Plus when on this screen if you swype to left or right the preview is binned.
As for killing apps, Android runs on linux, linux manages ram very well and indeed runs better when you don't keep closing things all the time, it caches processes to save you time and battery when you next need them!
I use a app called "multitask shortcut" which is awesome and it only cost .50 dollars. It doesnt work inside apps though. I wish there was something like Zephyr for Android. It was awesome on the iPhone.

The three middle menu buttons

hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of an app that can move the 3 menu buttons from the bottom middle to either left or right side so i can get to it with my thumb?
Thanks

CyanogenMod allows you to move one on each side. I have my back button and recent button on the left and right side, respectively. It's not an app, but that's the only way to have that without using an app like button saver or virtual button bar (don't move originals but can place buttons anywhere pretty much).

I think its pretty great. The nightly updates and constantly added features is what keeps me going.
I use this version of AOSP:

Just make sure to flash "leftnavbar.full_manta-ota-eng.cgomez.20122012.zip" to move the navbar over (link in the OP).
Use Paranoid Android and in Tablet UI you can have all three on the bottom left. Otherwise you can use the expanded desktop with PIE and have them come or of anywhere you like.

Paranoid Android is probably the best for Nexus 10 and 7... Check that out
I'll back these guys up. Been running Paranoid Android in my Nexus 10 for ages and it's brilliant. I have the buttons on the bottom left and my notifications on the bottom right. I noticed there are some other ROMs starting to introduce these features such as CM and aokp but I'd definitely recommend looking at Paranoid Android.
I'm running CM10.1 with lmt launcher and fullscreen togglev2. It's just nearly perfekt
Need no nasty navbar anymore. More Display for me

Unfortunately, in this scenario, you can't have your cake and eat it too. There isn't a setting, to my knowledge, that allows using both PIE and the nav/stat bars at the same time. Maybe in an upcoming update? Expanded desktop works great for me, I don't even remember what the stat bar looks like.

Pie Controls! On any ROM

I don't believe that his has been posted anywhere in this forum yet so I figured I would throw it out there as it's something that I've been looking for for quite some time. This allows you to have the Pie Controls on any ROM. It's just an app that is installed then set to run at startup.
Completely customizable for each section of pie.
I take no credit and am just sharing some info for anyone who wants it.
Download and install from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
umm...you can actually get one from playstore for free.
It is sweet. It had been posted a couple times, but is long buried now.

Been running this for a while, but thanks for sharing, it's an excellent app! The UI is damn sexy too! It finally feels like the perfect combo of a nav bar and dock/launcher, and you can even set a control for "kill app". I finally don't have to rely on AOKP to customize my app launcher/killer/nav bar combo.
I didn't know there was a pie control app in the play store though, that's pretty cool, and it looks like it doesn't require root either. Good to know.

I was looking at pacman, saw they had pie, and what I think to be a MIUI Battery bar outside the battery info area? Any way to do that with this that I'm missing? If that's not what it was, what was it?
Edit: by the way this is great, always wanted to try circle launcher buy found it rather ugly. Great job to all.
