Will the developer edition have AT&T bloatware? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Will it have AT&T bloat?
Will the WiFi hotspot work like it does on nexus even if you don't have the WiFi hotspot plan on your account?

It won't have AT&T bloat.

That will be nice. Now if only WiFi tethering will work for those of us on grandfathered unlimited data I'll be in heaven.

In that case will it have (Brightstar US) bloatware or system RW disabled like the stock ATT ROM?
The reason I say Brightstar US is because the ROM that is available on the HTC Dev site shows carrier as )Brightstar US).

It won't have any bloatware. It will be what HTC intended it to be. It might have whatever HTC put on there (7 digital maybe?), but nothing else. And tethering should work. If you flash the international rom it works too.

However, I wouldn't be able to flash the WWE or any other international ROM as somebody stated in another thread as I would need super CID?
Also if that's the case is Super CID possible with the (One) with Hex editing or something of that sort?

[Q] T-Mobile US Wi-Fi Calling

Is there any way to get T-Mobile USA wifi calling working on AT&T Atrix 4G?
I believe this will need some modification with the kernel.. not too sure though.

Yes I am. I got the SIM unlock code from AT&T (free) yesterday. And now trying to get wifi calling to work. T-Mobile offers free unlimited wifi calling and I use that feature all the time.

from what i can tell about TMo's wifi calling is it requires kineto apk and some lib files. may not work at all on the atrix
Is it possible to get those lib files from other phones?
Sorry I dont know the answer to your question, but I'm curious about what your data connection is like with the atrix on tmob. Only getting edge?

possibly. if you want to go over to one of the tmobile based phone forum (G2/Desire Z, Glacier, etc) and find the appropriate files. there may need to be changes in build.prop too, i dont remember.

thats the only thing that you can get on TMo with these phones. their 3g/4g runs on different frequencies that we cant access from this phone.
Thanks pirate, I will give it a try in the glacier thread. I used to have a mytouch 4g.

[Q] Unlocked AT&T GS2 on T-Mobile - Locked down to EDGE?

I've been offered a SUPERB price on an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S II - but I am a T-Mobile customer.
With that in mind - would that phone be able to utilize 3G/4G on T-Mobile, or would it be locked to EDGE?
Just curious - since I use WiFi in the office as well as at home.
Thanks for any feedback!
Edge only. No 3g

Thats not what hes asking. Hes not asking how to unlock it, hes asking that once the phone is unlocked, if it has the 3G/4G bands for T-Mobile... and that answer is no.

I think you missed understood the question.
@ JWhipple - Pirateghost already asnwer your data connection, your wifi should not be affected. Your wifi connection will depends on what wifi you have at the location and the type of wifi connection (IE: b,g, or N). Wifi will automatically takes over when you are at the office and home.
No AT&T phone other than the Skyrocket allows 3G/4G speeds on T-Mobile, and that requires a modem flash.
There's a slight chance the AT&T Note might if you flash a Canadian Bell modem.
You are limited to edge because the chip used doesn't support the 3g bands used by T-Mobile. Tmobile's version of S2 has a different chip.

Usb tethering not working at all... AT&T

Hello folks, after lots of research I found myself compelled to open a new thread about this problem. I read in some places that it&t locks its devices not letting the phone use WiFi tether. Well, I unlocked my bootloader and rooted the phone, and im currently using elegancia Rom. Im not really interested in WiFi, only in tethering. I tried different roms and the results were the same. Any help?

Are you on a share plan or a regular plan with AT&T? I know that Tethering is included for free with Share plans but AT&T charges extra if your on a different plan. You may need to have the feature added to your account.

I bought my phone on a travel to California, but I'm from Brazil. I unlocked my phone in order to have it working with my local carrier.

Then you may have to reach out to your carrier to make sure you have the feature enabled. Most likely it is being blocked by your local carrier.

I hardly think so... I had a HOX and everything worked like a charm.
I just bought the full version of PDAnet and I'm using it. It's a shame to have to buy an app to do something that the phone itself should do by itself.

Well here in the states they charge us for each and every little feature.
so guys... no help?
Are you looking for tethering it reverse tethering??
Have you tried Fox-Fi tether from the Play Store? There's many apps on the Play Store that enable this feature.

What?
Thanks, but I'm already using PDAnet. However, I'd like to use the "bult-in" smart tethering feature of the phone, independent of third party apps
Sorry didn't see that. I know it is ridiculous having a feature disabled on your $700 phone that is built in. And having to use a 3rd party app.
Especially with carriers charging for a feature thats bulit in your phone.

[Q] Google Edition to Have Wifi Calling?

Will the google edition still have wifi calling?
I would doubt it as wifi calling is a Tmobile implementation, and the Google edition would have all the tmobile bloat removed...
That's why I'm just waiting for 4.2.2... As wifi calling is very important for me....

Winner winner chicken dinner
Considering that this is really supposed to be carrier-neutral, I'd say no, plus the included radio bands are more AT&T friendly so I'd think that'd doubly indicate no wi-fi calling.

I agree.
I doubt any stock Android build will ever have wifi calling built in, at least until it's pushed to AOSP.
The n4 doesn't so I don't see it having it

Being that the Google Edition is updated directly from google ala nexus, there will be no opportunity for proprietary software to be added in and tested as carriers require.

Tether

Does anyone know if there's something I can delete in titanium backup to get unlimited tethering? I know on my old Samsung's there was something and I don't want to just go around deleting random things

Does your plan include tethering ? If so you don't need to delete anything..which I think most higher plans do now

I was grandfathered in to the unlimited plan. I do not have tethering. I relied on custom rims basically to get rid of the tether block

Devs doing roms here should know how to enable tethering, I have it enabled on mine but unless on custom rom and rooted doesnt help much...Knoxraid just released a rom, see if its unlocked on his...but to answer your question no its not something you can just delete and itll work....sorry...

On the Droid razr (vzw) I used a sql editor to open settings.db and there was an option called entitlement check, and I had to change that to 0 instead of 1.
No clue if anything like this would work on the m8,as I don't have mine yet.

Someone said adding tethering_dun_required=0 to settings.db would do it, but I tried it and it didn't work. I rebooted the phone and verified the new setting is in there as below, but trying to start the hotspot resulted in the same "call 611" bull**** as before:
% adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 'select * from global where name = \"tether_dun_required\"'
106|tether_dun_required|0

I'm using KnoxRaid ROM which is based on the AT&T firmware. I haven't tried, but I'm willing to bet the international version roms don't have this problem.
edit: Just tried flashing ARHD, which is based on the international stock ROM, on my AT&T device and mobile hotspot works out of the box.
I can tell you the HTC One M8 for Windows (Verizon Wireless) variant despite being unlocked for GSM, it didn't matter whether I used Straight Talk (AT&T) or a T-Mobile branded SIM card; it did not work...that said, this being an Android thread before I purchase a HTC One M8 Android - either an AT&T variant or Developer Edition variant, I wanted to double check with y'all as to whether like my HTC One M7 64GB DE if I also had to root and custom flash for example with ARHD 43.0 to enable the mobile network share aka wi-fi hotspot on the device? It works to perfection on my M7 with ARHD 92.0. (And before some jackass gets on here and tells did I search for this; yes, I did). Thanks everybody; take care and have a wonderful day!
