[Q] Functioning Lock screen to-do list? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently an iphone 4s user that is tired of ios and its limitations. I am interested in switching to android. One thing that I would really love to have on my phone is a functional to-do list on my lockscreen that I could see every time that I look at my phone. Is this possible on android and do you have any recommendations any apps that can do this? Thank you.

U can use Widget Locker and took some todo widget on ur lockscreen.
You can look at Astrid, Any.Do, Taskos etc for todo widget.
And simply way u can choose this option as well using Simply Lockscreen
Here u can get:
- Simply Lockscreen: link
- Astrid link
- Taskos link
- Widget Locker link

I am usin the setup below..
I have Any.Do as my default task application.. I have replaced my lockscreen with the DashClok widget.. Any.do has a dash clock extension which can show your tasks right in the main lock screen.. Or you can create one more page in the lock screen and use the Any.Do widget directly there..

Thank you for your replies. I can't wait to get an android phone. Ios users could only dream of having this type of functionality. amith007, is there any way you could please show me what the any.do dashclock widget looks on your lockscreen? I tried looking for screen shots of what that would look like but I couldn't find any. Thanks.

Thanks.
PM me if u need help

In the first picture you can see that the Any.do icon showing the task pending task count.. and when i simply expand the widget, it will show the first task there itself.. and you can click there to open the Any.do app directly..

Thank you, very cool but a little too subtle for me. What jungjawa suggested is more in your face. Thank you all for your recommendations. Android really is the best option for me.

Launcher PRO Question???

Hi peeps, is there a way to use some of then HTC Sense stuff example the clock(the flip type not analog) & music player wiget on Launcher PRO?
i remember i do see some ss somewhere where the user using launcher PRO with Sense Clock. I want the speed & smooth scrolling of Launcher PRO but keep the flip clock & my music player wiget. anyone out there can tell me is it possible or not?
fancy widget. search on market. Perfect clone
duno about music though.
The actual sense widgets would require heavy hacking to get working, if it is even possible. No one has shown any intrest in doing so.
thx warlrus =)
Fancy Widget has been removed from the marked by HTC's request (because they meant it was a ripoff from their work.)
Still, i have attached the .apk for it.
As for the music widget, there isn't anyone that looks like HTC's that i have found yet.. But you could try out MixIng
thx sublue... no wonder i can't find it. thought i have a faulty market >.<"

No problem.
Anyone know of any widgets similar to the Sense 'Bookmark' (list view and scrollable) and 'Calendar' (grid view) widgets?
I want to switch to another launcher, but can't live without these apps!

Calendar widget

Hi.
Does anybody know of a good calendar widget? I've tried some and most require you to use their calendar application. I personally prefer the calender app that comes stock with the vibrant and would like a widget that pulled info from there but looks more like the stock widget on vanilla android.

Im running "android agenda widget". It does exactly what i need and lets me view multiple calendars. Ita free btw

"Pure Calendar Widget" is one of the few paid apps that I have used the entire time since buying them when I had my G1 until now.
Extremely customizable and will allow you to use pretty much any calendar app.
Thanks guys, I'm downloading both right now.
I highly recommend Pure Calendar Widget as well.. excellent application and worth the $

So I bought pure calander widget, as well as messenger widget, very very nice. Granted theres a ton of options, too much to get into right now but so far so good. Nice way to spend the little bit of funds in my account. and the HTC sense skins are a nice touch.
*accidental doublepost, sorry.
The one that comes with launcher pro plus is pretty good. But if you don't use LP I guess its not too helpful.
using agenda widget
started using pure calendar widget today.
3 questions:
-i see someone mentioned you can make it htc sense like? i dont see how???
-when i rotate screen, the widget goes blank for about 2 minutes...not like a little lag and re-draw with takes seconds. it goes completely white for about 1 or 2 minutes, then it all comes back. any ideas?
edit, 1 more question:
-what is the difference between pure calendar widget and agenda widget? pros or cons of each?

You have the option to skin the app. At the bottom in the config screen theres the option to Continue and Skin. Thats where I found mine.
Also which launcher are you using? ADW has an option to enable and disable scrollable widgets, which might be the cause of your problem.
I recently discovered Jorte, which has a good amount of widgets and the calendar app itself is excellent and will fully replace the stock one (my preference) - but I'm pretty sure you can have it open the stock one. It can also sync with Google Tasks although it has to be done manually.
cool, thanks.
in LP, it enabled scrollable widgets and that has seem to fix the going blank problem.
but i think im going to try the agenda widget as pure calendar widget just slows my phone WAY down. It just slows everything down. maybe if i turn off scrollable in pure calendar and lp it will work better...

Why the EASYEST apps doesnt exists? (GReader, Facebook and others)

I spent at least one day trying to find some apps that give me some very basic and easy functions and seems they doesnt' exist!!!
Just some examples:
- I want that on my homescreen there is a widget where I can see the latest/newest items in my google reader feeds/account.
I downloaded at least 10 different rss readers apps but NO-ONE has a widget that displays 2-3-4 or more lines with the newest titles The most near is a widget that show a 3x1 square with ONE line with the newest items switching between them every few seconds. I missed something? there is something like what I ask?
- I want that on my screen there is a widget where I can see what is appening in my facebook account. The FB for android widget shows only one/last post. The HTC FB widget shows too many things and you cannot use if you are using a non-sense rom or if resized it look really bad. The only alternative I found is the FB widget included in the LauncherPro... but what if I dont like LauncherPro?
- I want that on my homescreen there is a widget showing me my exchange/gmail mailbox: just sender: mail_object. Can be done with a very simple widget in the market for gmail, but not for exchange. To do this I had to pay and install a different mail client (Moxier) that has a widget like this...
I'm just wondering I will start to lear java to start developing my own apps

use any of the android builds that say Sense. HTC Sense on these ROMs have all of the above functionality for your homescreen.

As far as I know, as soon as you disable the sense launcher bar and use a different one such as Launcher Pro Plus you lose all the Sense widgets so the answer would be no you cant.
Mark.

Right.. this was what I experienced.
I dont want to use Sense widgets because
1) I setted up my dpi resolution to 180 to have a "bigger" homescreen
2) I use launcherpro plus to have 6 rows x 6 colums on every home to insert more widgets
In this way I just power up my phone from standby and I see:
1) hour and day
2) weather
3) news from my choosen keywords
4) calendar with the upcoming events
5) what is happening in facebook
So my question still remains... we have the market full of useful apps that do anything.. but no app to do really easy things like show on an homescreen some datas...this is incredible for me...
I have to do them by myself
I just enclosed a screenshot of my Home Screen.. I know, is not "cool" but it's working for me and give me all the informations I need at a first look without having to scroll in different homescreens
But could be better if there were some better widgets available
You know what pisses me off, there is not even a reliable alarm clock app for android. All of them may let you down in a very critical time. But it is very good thet we can find 1000+ apps that does nothing!!!

what you means for "non reliable" ?
I mean alarm apps work most of the time but somettimes they do not. It causes you to be late for your schedule. I tried many apps. "Alarm Klock" is doing okay but still it fails to ring sometimes.
Also there are so many apps which only does one single simple thing. It is like you have 2 different apps for volume up and volume down. That fancy android market is empty in reallity.

1. You can use AppZorter from the market to do this.
2. If you're talking about choosing edit and then pressing the little minus sign then you should know that this actually uninstalls the application. A powerful but dangerous little shortcut at times

Just another clue for you:
Check Nemus Launcher app from the Market.
It is free and "replaces" the TouchWiz launcher with some nice features. It has an awesome folder structure for your homescreens.
I certainly will.... I wasn't going to get a galaxy I was all set on the sensation xe, I did miss sense initially but starting to really like the samsung, it's really growing on me
The first day with a new phone is always an interesting one, my boss HATES it though lol ( not the phone, but that i'm completely distracted lol )

Making Lockscreen Widgets Bigger?

Hey guys
I was just wondering if there was any way to make the lockscreen widgets show more information without swiping down to show it?
I'm using 200dpi so it is quite a bit less than stock...
I used DashClock and saw that it was the same thing as CM's cLock...
For instance, if you have 2-3 calender events, some of them will be cut off until you swipe down to unlock the widget. Is there any way to make the "viewing" part bigger so that I don't have to open the widget every time? It drives me nuts...I just want to turn on my phone and see the information there, not have to swipe open again...
Thanks guys,
Elliott
Bump...anyone?
Bumpity bump!

I don't know what you're using to change DPI (Xposed mod, or paranoid preference). If it's paranoid preferences, try this:
In paranoid preferences, go tools, select expert mode.
Then in per app settings, you'll have the option to 'force' or 'large'. Try playing around with these, possibly for dashclock, systemui or Androidsystem. I don't know if this will help, as I don't use an overall lower dpi, only for some apps.
Apologies if that doesn't help your situation at all.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for trying but I'm using ROM Toolbox to change the DPI...running CM10.1.
