Latest google apps build - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since stock firmware has old collection of google apps, and updating means it doesn't over write the system apps, it justs creates another copy- would it be possible to wipe the collection of stock google apps, then flash over a new updated collection of google apps? I have
gapps-gb-20110828-signed, but with 2011 date that seems pretty old. Isn't there a 2012/2013 build?
Also my phone has LK1 firmware, would this be useful to you guys?

simply update the app you want to, and then integrate the update into rom with the help of link2sd or titanium backup
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app

cheers will give updating system app a go. It's worked for play store, but for maps and youtube when I action, integate... it says system full. Even though I still have 70MB free.
I guess uninstall updates, delete maps & youtube manually in es file explorer and re-download again? It was only play store that is handy having it integrated, since that is an essential app to download other google apps.
got it working. rebooted, then let kies update firmware, rebooted again, then integrated maps and yotube

seems to work, however since doing linksd update system app, google service has stopped responding. No way of having a clean ROM with very latest google play store? The one I've seen has a older build, and other google apps. So it'll update it anyway.
one work around is moving play services and play store to user app. Delete any play services/play store in system. Now it won't create another copy, it'll use the user one. Of course if you do a reset it'll lose those files, but since it's easy to restore or recovery not a big deal (and saving 20 MB)

[Q] Auto Update Off Market Apps?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to update an app that was not installed from the market through the market.
I've downloaded free apps from the market, unzipped them and swapped out some image files, signed and reinstalled, but these apps no longer show up in the play store--when I try, it says that the app was not signed correctly.
I've tried searching but the only thread I found was from 2010 and was essentially a thread about some person stealing a paid apk and trying to get it to update :|
Anyways thanks
Seems impossible
As the signature is different, so I think it is impossible.
Titanium Backup has an option to "Attach to market(forced)" might give that a try or fix permissions.
I had similar problems with games that I bought through the Android edition of the Humble Indie Bundle. Cannot update via Play Store.

[Q]Auto update system apps?

My current custom ROM includes Youtube v4.0.5. Market shows "installed" and latest avaliabvle is v4.1.23. An update isn't offered. Next I convert it into user app in TiBu. I go to the Youtube entry in market again, re-install and presto I have the shiny new Youtube. I assume the reason an update wasnt offered initially was because the app was a system app. So this makes me wonder if there's any automated solution that scans through systems apps and checks if an updated version is avaliable? I'm aware of the risks involved and I keep backups.

just remove YouTube app via titanium backup and install YouTube app from playstore .........then u can update directly by playstore .....
HIT THANKS BUTTON IF I HAVE HELPED
Ok, it seems I missatributed the lack of updates. The reason is that the youtube apk included in my ROM is a custom themed one.

[q] unrooted vibrant rom???

I am curious if there are any Custom ROMS that do NOT have root access- Or superuser app pre-installed?
The reason I am asking is I need a phone just for work. I need to have access to 2 apps. Good for Enterprise - and Lync 2010.
I used my old Vibrant for this task. I was on ICS Passion but I was unable to install GOOD for enterprise app due to the device being Rooted.
I used ODIN to return to stock settings. I updated the phone to 2.2 via samsung Kies mini.
Now I have Good working but can't download Lync 2010 because the Google market wont update to Google Play.
So in short I need a ROM that is not rooted but has Google Play.
Any ideas would be great..
Thanks!!
There is OTA Rootkeeper from the market that will allow you to delete and restore root at-will. Also I think that SuperSU will allow you to do this as well, only I'm not sure if that is the paid version or not.
For the Google Market to Play thing, I am pretty sure that if you clear data and cache on the Market and Force Close it, it will update on its own. If it is themed, then hit Unintall Updates and then cleanr data and cache and Force Close. Then it should update on it's own too.

Thank you very much! Force stop on market updater in combination with clearing the cache forced the Google Play upgrade.
I will look into rootkeeper and SuperSU as alternatives so I can have a better ROM. The stock ROM is terrible.
Thanks!
UPDATE--
Still having some issues. Unfortunately LYNC 2010 is not supported on 2.2 and below. So I am still in need of a custom ROM that is NOT rooted (or can be unrooted)
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Can't install APK files outside of Play Store?

I recently upgraded from an Android 7 phone (Moto G5) to an Android 9 phone (Moto G7). I like to back up all of my apps that I plan on using in the future, using a backup app like ML Manager, and installing them locally with a file browser, like FX. On my new phone, there are some APK backups that I can't install from a file browser; even if I actually download them though the Google Play Store, back them up, uninstall them, and then try to install that backup on the same phone, it won't work. Not every app does this, and at first, I thought it was only paid apps that were giving me problems, so I chalked it up to DRM, but a bunch of free apps won't work, either.
I've tried alternate methods of installation, too, like using a terminal emulator (see the screenshot, using the app Manual Camera as an example), and ADB on a PC, which results in an INSTALL_FAILED_VERIFICATION_FAILURE error. I've searched for this error and followed directions, like disabling Play Protect (which I never enabled on this phone, anyway), but nothing works. Is this just how Android is now? Did something change so that it's harder to install backups? I tried all of this on my wife's phone, too, which also runs Android 9, and I got the same errors. Any help would be appreciated, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

Some apps are different for noghat and pie Android
So there is no grantee that you can install all APK that you backed up on noghat for pie
Download them from Google
It should completely work
Make sure that you have free space on internal storage and when you wanna download them make sure that download arm/arm64 version

Yeah, downloading from the Play Store definitely works, I'm just curious as to why backing up an app downloaded from the Play Store won't install from the APK *on the exact same device.* I'm a stickler for keeping local backups of everything, but I'm more curious than anything at this point.

Well there is a another reason
That is some app install with APK
And other one install with APKS
which you should install them with SAI and have two or three file to install (even more)
And when you backup from apks apps it doesn't backup all files to install it again
But at play store it install automatically

Holy crap, dude, I had NO idea that split APKs were a thing. I downloaded Split APK Installer from the Play Store, and I can make and restore local backups again. Thank you so much for the info, it was exactly what I needed!

T95 H616 fixing Google Play. How do I do this?

THIS IS A T95 H616 DUAL BAND MODEL.
As is obvious by now, this box is known for Google Play issues. My box did come with regular Google Play Store as opposed to the TV version but it down right refuses to update to the latest version and if I try to install via APK I always get 'App not installed'. Since the device does have ROOT out of the box I took the opportunity to make things a bit more useable in that department by installing Magisk, and I have been able to manually update the Play Store to the latest version and it works just fine but I don't want to have to do it this way every time. The box can live with the Play Store being completely uninstalled using this method and I thought I'd try installing from scratch. Nope. It still gives me 'App not installed'. I've even tried manually creating the folders and moving the APK to /data/app/, setting the relevant permissions and ownership but still this was a no-go as when I restarted the device every change I'd made in there had been cleared. What else can I try?
android 10 doesn't let you modify the system partition period. the only ways to modify it are via magisk modules, flashing the whole rom with your mods included or maybe via TWRP (which we don't have).
I've noticed on this box that it doesn't like having it's system apps removed either, others have said the changes won't stick or you'll get a bootloop. freezing system apps does work however, I was able to freeze the ATV YouTube and install Vanced.
on the play store front I've not had too many problems other than paid apps not showing as paid for about 24 hours after a factory reset. I haven't checked what version it was on or whether it was latest, I'll go and look now.

It has actually been pretty bulletproof for me with regards to that. I am able to mount the system partition as R/W and swap out the Play Store APK with the latest version and set all the permissions and everything and it works just fine. It's just not an ideal way of doing things. What would cause this? All other APKs install and update just fine. The paid app thing happens only because the Play Store is out of date. Every BETA I am subscribed to is also stuck on 'Removing you from the beta'.
from the little I've read the makers of these boxes don't intend to do any maintenance or updates on their boxes, next year they'll bring out android 11 boxes that'll stay as they are more or less.
I haven't messed around with the two update apps don't want to start again from scratch. I'm thinking maybe one of them covers the play store.

Update apps? Play Store is supposed to update its self but it can't. Can't update via APK, can't install from scratch via APK, 'App not installed', 'Update failed' etc. There is a serious issue with the FW here and it doesn't affect a single other of my Android 10 devices. If you mean Aptoide and APKPure, they just download and execute APK files. Same results.
was thinking about the Local Update and Wireless update apps in the app draw, they can't both for firmware.
I think this is safe to call a forked version of Android, it's pretty much locked down to the way the want it, maybe they never intended the store to be updated independently of the whole rom.

Oh I see. Wireless update is essentially System Update. I'm not sure about the other. Perhaps it's like the old Backup & Restore thing the old boxes had that you needed to boot in to TWRP. I've only ever re-flashed it via PhoenixSuit and PhoenixCard.
I recently purchased the Pendoo T95 all winner box. I can download Pluto Tv via play store but it will not open.
"Apk is not compatible with this version please download appropriate one from the Play store"
This app was downloaded from the Play Store.

try looking on APK mirror if it's a free app. maybe an older version will get you started. always compare file sizes with files from playstore just to be safe.
